It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

right now there's no detail to explain. we came from Octocoin which was abandoned by devs. there's plenty of posts here and at theoctoparty.com that explain our situtaion but way too much to type again. just start at thread one and read.

as for projects, we have one or two planned but until we have actual developers and funding for them they are just plans.

we will see by the end of June middle of July how the first project starts. if it goes well and can supply some income then we will see if we can fund the other one. if both of the projects go well we will hopefully sell tokens in the future to fund a fantasy sports website that allows you to play with a white list of Counterparty tokens and charge a fee to play in OCTO.

we will see.

I have access to swapbots now. I may build one out to sell OCTO to start to raise BTC to pay devs for the Fantasy MMA project. The swapbots are being developed by Adam from letstalkbitcoin and tokenly.

Here's the best question. Do we sell OCTO at the swapbot? Or do we sell another token that will represent OCTO and other tokens to be distributed to the buyer?

Example: OCTOPARTY

When the swapbot sells 1 OCTOPARTY for x amount of BTC, the user will receive the OCTOPARTY token immediately. Then when we use the blockchain to see the amount if addresses holding OCTOPARTY tokens, we can distribute OCTO and other tokens to that user. The tokens we distribute will be tokens for future use in a full Fantasy sports website.

I suppose, since the talks with devs the past two months have not went as well as I thought they would, we should focus on the easiest way to give OCTO some direct value. If we create this site and only allow users to play with OCTO, then that will be the first big push to give OCTO a much needed use. It's not quite the payment processor that I would like to fund. That would be quite a bit more expensive to pay for. Maybe if we give OCTO an official use, the price will rise and be more attractive to devs.

I suspect we will need to raise between $5000-$7000 dollars to fund the Fantasy MMA site. This would include the code for the Fantasy MMA site enabled to accept BTC, pay to a dev to incorporate Counterwallet into the website so that we can only use OCTO to play, server hosting for at least 1 year, domain names, marketing to advertise the site as an OCTO only site and BTC for initial transaction fees.

This is just an idea. It doesn't cost much to create the bot. The bot can accept BTC and any other Counterparty asset we whitelist. You do have to keep a balance of BTC in the bot at all times to cover transaction costs.

We can also use this method to fund just about anything. It does not have to be a fantasy sports or fantasy MMA site. But we need to start taking this into our own hands.  I have a feeling, once we have raised a few thousand dollars in BTC to fund this first project, that devs will crawl out of the woodwork and want to help us with a project. The offering of only OCTO shares right now has not worked.

So, let me know what you think. Remember, any idea is better than no idea. I am open to all ideas. What do you think would be a quick, easy project that we can raise money to build that we will only allow OCTO to play with? Remember, whatever the project is, needs to still be able to charge the user fees. We have to make a project that will allow us to make money to fund the larger projects. I think fantasy sports is a great money maker and will also be a great use case for all counterparty assets to be accepted.

For now, I am busy planning the enablebtc.com site. It will be the first Bitcoin directory that pays both the user and the vendors that use the site. I hope that I can use this site to pad my income by a few hundred dollars a month and begin saving to fund the OCTO payment system early next year. I have been waiting anxiously for thegrid.io to launch. They finally have released the beta to the first 100 founding members tonight. I suspect in the next few weeks, they will begin adding a few thousand users per day/week. I am founding member 22 thousand and something. I don't think it will take long to launch enable and begin selling some advertising. It will be cheap for Bitcoin vendors to list, and allow the vendors and users to earn ENABLEBTC tokens monthly, which they can use towards renewals and voting on their listings as far as their ranking in their respective categories. Like other directories, users can also pay for premium listings that will lock them into the top 1-3 spots in their category for a specific amount of time. I don't think this site will make me rich, but I can picture it padding my income and leaving some left to put towards funding the OCTO payment system.

I also am about to announce a new token soon. This token will not raise any money for myself or OCTO, but it will be a great token that will hopefully make some waves. Keep your fingers crossed. If anything, maybe it will gain some notoriety for myself and OCTO and put me in a better position to meet and discuss OCTO with devs.

http://us6.campaign-archive1.com/?u=e3e55c4321c915d4d6fb9f8f0&id=3137e56aa1

Let's hear your opinions. I am excited to see what will come. It's about to be super busy for the rest of 2015. I will have my hands in a few different pots and will have to give some of OCTO's responsibilities to others in the community. Message me if you are interested. I will stay involved in OCTO on a weekly basis, but not as much as I have been since we launched. I think this will help get some of you guys more involved and take all the pressure off of one person.

Thanks!

You can now purchase OCTO with BTC/XCP via a SwapBot. The price is higher but any BTC/XCP raised through the swapbot will go directly to the development fund for the Fantasy MMA site that will you can only play with OCTO! This will be the first OCTO powered website. If you have a project or game that you would like OCTO to fuel, PM me and we will set up a SwapBot to help fund your project. We need games and apps that OCTO only will fuel to help give OCTO some value.

NOTE: you MUST use either Counterwallet or the LTB Companion to be able to control and use your tokens. Do NOT send BTC from a shared wallet service like Coinbase, Circle, Bitstamp, etc. Instead, quickly create a counterparty compatible wallet with one of the tools above, send the BTC to one of your new addresses, and now use that wallet to deal with bitcoin and tokens.

Nice!

Going to try this later as soon as I get access to wallet.

Kudos on your unrelenting work reviving this coin. . I think you're a little ahead of your time with the tokenization aspects, especially with this small fish as a testbed but this kind of transition is going to become increasingly prevalent over time and perhaps with "bigger" coins that have are on their death beds or abandoned might find greater traction. You're setting a great example of how it's done.

Yes please try it! I hope this type of stuff catches on. I will probably lower the price if I can. 1 penny is a bit much, although it would raise a lot more money quickly, selling less OCTO. But compared to the Bittrex price it's way too high. I just could not get any of the prices to go lower than a penny. I believe the swapbot can be set to a lower set amount.

And yeah, I agree, this is ahead of its time. You guys should definitely head over to letstalkbitcoin forum and thank Adam and the guys at LTB and Tokenly. They gave me pretty early access to set this thing up.

I think the idea of token to token swapbots is great and it works here for selling OCTO. But, the coolest thing is called Tender. It lets you set up a swapbot to accept BTC or other Counterparty tokens to sell other actual items such as subscriptions, consulting, other digital or physical goods. Or you can just sell the tokens to be redeemed later. It's great for stuff like consultations and subscriptions because you might buy the token for that item at a great price while it's on sale but you can use it later when needed by redeeming it.

As for OCTO, I cannot wait to get an actual dev, so that when we start to build out app and game websites we can infuse the Tokenly open source code for stuff like Swapbots and Token Control  Access right on our site or forum.

I also have lots of ideas that will hopefully use swapbots and TCA to get more vendors on board. The first project will be enablebtc.com. This will be a Bitcoin Directory that rewards the users and the vendors who pay to list on the website, but will allow buying votes for rankings in the vendors category, swapbots on the vendors page so they know that the vendor knows that sales came from the directory and other cools uses with TCA.

Now, enablebtc.com is my own site and I will defintiely keep some profit and work with the ENABLEBTC token but I made a commitment that I would support OCTO with some of the profit. I promise once I start to see some decent income I will probably be buying OCTO from the swapbots so that I see OCTO and OCTO sees Bitcoin towards development.

Another great thing, is any of you can set up Swapbots. It's not too hard, and it's not too expensive to get started. If You have a website, or even social media, set up a swapbot to offer your goods and services and make OCTO a payment option. You can select any Counterparty tokens for payment you want and in the future Tend will accept credit card payments through Stripe.

So it's a growing platform and we will see where it leads too. Here is an intro video posted below. If you have OCTO and have not joined the OCTO forum on letstalkbitcoin, go on over and sync your counterwallet address with your LTB account. Once you do that and you hold OCTO in the address, you will be able to see the OCTO forum for OCTO holders only.

Adam from LTB is on there so be sure to post something thanking them for their hard work on Tokenly and LTB. That's what makes a lot of this possible for OCTO. I have been waiting patiently for these things to launch so OCTO could use them.

Also, If you have any questions about letstalkbitcoin, counterwallet, etc., Robert at Folding Coin has a great set of videos that explain all of these features and how tos as far as syncing stuff on LTB. Check out that FoldingCoin youtube channel and like and share his videos.

Check out the LTB forum OCTO 888 lottery faucet so that you can post your address and receive between 1-888 OCTO monthly.

Here's the Tokenly Swapbot video:

And we will see how well the tokenization takes off. Remember Counterparty is only a year old. LTB and their website and forum have spawned Tokenly and that's just starting. Like Bitcoin, it may take a few months to years to get traction, but once people start using it, it may be one of the killer apps of Bitcoin.

I plan to use it as a business model. It's easy to learn and apply, and if you know people that will at least give you a chance to show them how to use it, set it up for them, host the stuff for them, you can basically set yourself up with at least a little side business.

I'm hoping that enablebtc.com shows how great it can enhance w directory website and help users and businesses have a better experience.

I also own tokenizebtc.com and may set up a token consulting service to help get businesses started. We will see. I need to get a lot more experience first, but I think that this is something that quite a few applications can be helpful to brick and mortar and online biz.

We will see.

Oh wow. Now that is interesting!

I have never seen it. I see they take BTC but I highly doubt they are set up for Counterparty. Would be interesting to see if they would want to list OCTO though.

Also, on a side note. I will be changing the OCTO swapbot tonight so that OCTO is not being sold for $.01 per OCTO. I just have to look at the rate on Bittrex and I'll actually make it cheaper than Bittrex in hopes that people will swoop it up and try to sell it on Bittrex.

The bad part about that is I will have to adjust the rates manually. I don't have time to do that daily. Maybe weekly? Or Maybe I'll pay someone in OCTO to monitor and change the rate daily.

Ok the OCTO SwapBot has been set to the correct price. For now I will just monitor and change when I can. I set the price to below the current price on Bittrex.

.00000040 BTC will be traded for 1 OCTO. There are no minimums.

I have messaged octoplay to see if they have any interest in not only adding us to their current site, but maybe they can possibly help us with the Fantasy Sports/Fantasy MMA website.

You guys might go to their thread and request OCTO to be added to their current site. I will see what he says about possibly building the fantasy sports site.

True, didn't take much though. That's the way the OCTO is on Bittrex. The trick is how do we convince people to purchase OCTO from the swapbot when it costs more. I think maube putting OCTOPARTY in the Swapbot and selling it as a placeholder to receive OCTO and 5-10 other tokens that can be used on the Fantasy MMA site might help give it more value. But we really need to see how much it will cost to build the site. I think to build it, and pay for hosting and running it for a year would be around $7000 but that's just my rough estimate. It could be way less. I need a dev who can do this to sit and talk so we can realistically set a goal amount to raise.

I have adjusted the Swapbot price so that it is lower than one penny. But it's still at 500 satoshi's.

I had about 310,000 OCTO sell form the swapbot this morning for .00000040 but that only raised .12 BTC and that was the original 310,000 we already had set aside for the development fund. I didn't think it would sell out all at once before I could raise the price.

For now I have 2 million in the Swapbot and if it all sold at .000005 BTC per OCTO that would raise around 12 BTC total. Now the trick is the marketing to sell it.

Any ideas or suggestions? I have some more I'll post later this week bout other tokens but I need someone who is interested in Tokenly and can code in their language to realistically tell me if some of the TCA ideas I have are doable on our website.
