"Save on your heating bills. Hell, don't just save, make money heating your home" Unless you are in the antipodes that makes sense. Heat your home with ASICs.

at this point in the game, mining with ~30GHs is strictly a hobbyist's game. why not tap into the xmas gift/novelty market? Mom: "kids love 'puters n stuff, and little Bobby's been begging us to help him get started mining dem bitcoins...plus, look! It's got Spongebob!" Dad: "great idea! Buy now and beat the xmas rush!" Little Bobby (on xmas day) "WTF??? This thing is USELESS!"

Well that might happen in a few years. As of now Bitcoin is still a geek's game. When your hairdresser and taxi driver start talking about it then you know it's a hype.

Yes, I was being facetious, but since you mention it... last month I was in a cab where the driver was going on and on about btc, PLUS, my wife is a hairdresser, and she has all sorts of tech guys as clients, so she totally talks about bitcoins with them. Just sayin' ;-) ofc, for a gift market to open up, these miners would have to cost about 1/3 of what they do now.

I don't know how did this thread turned into another Bitcoin-pricetalk but I will indulge it. Bitcoin is not in a bubble it is just another round of increased appreciation for sound money against bubbling fiat currencies. What we are happy about here is that the bubbling effects fiat/btc faster than it affects fiat/goods

Fun fact: At 2000 yuan (328 usd) you would actually see ROI in only 37 days according to http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/. Completely surpassing any other asic available even KNC.

because i see AM cube selling/preordering already despite any announcement by friedcat so far, i have to bring up this subject again: What distracts me most as a shareholder is the lack of information channels. i mean i get it that AM is just a manufacturer and the rest is mostly done via resellers. But do i expect too much with a functioning decent website up to date with info on released products and links for the shops/auctions? Why don't they roll out the full package to get a glance into every miner's eye? (slightly exagerrating here ) Show some pics, hell even make a rotating 3D model with some data. I'm doing this as a job, i hereby even offer my service at this point for doing the shiny eyefuck renderings to get this going.an example: When i google "asicminer cube", the first site of results doesn't even give me a link to any official website. instead i see the first 5 of 6 entries are named "ASICMiner Cube?") and i notice preorder via wtcr (good) and hashfast advertising at the top ( ) when i google "asicminer" again another hasfast advert, then http://www.asicminer.co/ (which was last updated 4th May!!!) I read some time ago that friedcat likes to keep a low profile and this was already discussed. I totally understand having some amount of anonymity on the web, but when i look at http://cointerra.com/;https://hashfast.com/;http://www.butterflylabs.com/i see so much potential here...f**k, AM even has the "asicminer" in its company name. that's like selling bread when your named baker™. You have to use that advantage. this is not meant as a rant and sorry if i sound like a marketing-asshole here (comes with the job environment ) fc will somehow sell these cubes but the overall process could be done in a much better way imo.

I agree with hlynur. AM's marketing should be given serious thought. FAIK it is already being addressed. still- don't underestimate the "gift" market, esp. at xmas. billions to be made across all areas of retail. and something like this... I buy all sorts of electronics for my kid every year, and this type of "science-y" tech thing is just what granny might think her computer-obsessed grand-kids would love to own. not a sustainable market to be sure, but we are talking about unloading gen1 chips here right? when I think of all the expensive chemistry sets, and radio shack circuit board kits, and build your own radio sets I got when I was a kid... there is definitely a market there if you know how to reach it. One major retailer carrying these things would be a real leg up.

It does feel like investors are left out of the loop but tbh I appreciate it, AM's delivered since the IPO and most of its been on blind faith. Trust has been discussed a lot on this forum and it could even be a currency of its own one day but honour is hardly ever mentioned and its the foundations of trust. After seeing the financial report I'd guess it would take pages for FC to get us up to date on the full picture so maybe its better they break the mould and use the most despicable of words in the 21st century, trust us. True that! I think most of us use this thread to "think out loud" seeing as there is precious little else by way of news or info to post here. FC has proven he is trustworthy again and again! I'm chomping at the bit for the really big news tho

Your search results are probably skewed by prior search history; on a 'clean' browser I get the top about 25 results for AM, and most of the top 50. Also I've got adblocker, so no ads. But in general I agree with you, FC needs to get at least a basic website up to face the market, and a newsfeed to shareholders - just posting more here would do, but these posts need to be advised ahead of time to avoid trading advantages by those lucky to be awake in the right timezone. edit: I wouldn't mind the silence if the sp was going up

thanks for the very wise words there... exactly this trust and friedcat's reputation made me invest in the first place and this situation hasn't changed for me. I've seen a lot of stuff working in advertising sector and i know that a website doesn't even remotely present what's behind the shiny curtain. still the difference how AM is spreading their products compared to its competitors is a miracle to me. perhaps my perspective is disturbed by my western marketing approach and this is simply how things roll in asia. (my thought process here is: more competition -> ramp up advertising via central and direct communication channels) edit: Your search results are probably skewed by prior search history; on a 'clean' browser I get the top about 25 results for AM, and most of the top 50. i just realized that after using my virgin IE. (what a shitty browser ) sorry for the mistake just wanted to make a point there.

Nice little comp back in the day, but I had to retire mine 5 years ago when it could no longer update flash. That was the last mac I ever owned, and it will remain the last mac I will ever buy. BUT, more on topic... those charts... you should see those charts! NASA approved!

Back to March Device Selling After careful consideration, we decided to address it as a very important decision ahead. There are two factors that serve as the motivation of selling our devices earlier than what we planned before:
1. Vacuum of Deployment. We are now experiencing one. The unconventionally high power density makes our devices hard to be deployed to professional data centers, which also have very high rent charges as their extra downside. So we had and will have to build them of our own. It's a difficult task in a sense that besides the long cycle, unexpected incidents will create a period that we have a lot of devices lying there waiting to generate hashes.
Well they did build them, wonder if they are starting to not sit around. Also http://www.wtcr.ca/catalog/product/bm-ambec-01Information thus far is as follows: 30Gh/s Guaranteed Overclock-able to 38 Gh/s Ships approximately November 14th, 2013 More information coming soon! Either way Dividend watch begins soon
