Didn't even know they had a facebook page, lol

Not sure how much they are planning on selling to end users to be honest, but who knows anything about their plans these days.

When does Chinese New Year end officially?

afaik the facebook page is the only remaining official web presence. (asicminer.co & asicminer.info is down since a while now)
chinese year ends 31st January, let's see what the year of the horse has up its sleeves for the cat.

When does Chinese New Year end officially?

THe festivities last for 15 days.
http://www.infoplease.com/spot/chinesenewyear1.html

And importantly starts on 31st January .... so we are talking mid-feb, great ...

Still beggars belief FC can't post anything during CNY though. Its not a crime in China to post to forums during festive season I presume? Smiley

Traditionally Chinese will have a fifteen days holiday for the spring festival. But that is only true for the old time rural part of China. However for the big cities like Shenzhen, which has a pro business culture, people will have a one week long holiday. Some aggressive business men will have a even short holiday. As long as FC is really wan two produce some thing, I don't think he couldn't find anyone to do it in time.

Did you see friedcat crying last year about the new year holiday? I don't think he even so much as mentioned it, while carrying right on posting updates:

2013: Sunday, February 10, Snake

Posting on the 7th: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=99497.msg1510110#msg1510110
Posting on the 14th: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=99497.msg1527549#msg1527549
Posting on the 15th: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=99497.msg1529563#msg1529563

After that I got bored but it's quite plain friedcat has worked right through a chinese new year before so why wouldn't he again?

Quite clearly because his mindset has changed, and the best guess is because his company has been split apart. You can detect that in all kinds of ways. Reduced frequency of official posts, reduced frequency of responses to emails, failing to produce Gen2 hardware at all (which has killed dividends for six months), other people producing hardware amazingly similar to his, not introducing a PR person when he said he would, not producing a blockchain-based exchange when he said he would ..... something has clearly gone badly wrong at ASICMINER. But he's never once alluded to the real reasons for such delays and problems. Just given out excuses. Time to sell I'm afraid. I'd rather have something than nothing.

If they stole AM's IP they wouldn't admit it.
If FC secretly set up this 2nd company he wouldn't admit it.
Blind alley.

We will not see any updates until new year has passed ,
FC never promised updates , he just told us the approximate date for tape-out , so chill out for 2-3 weeks

He did in fact promise bi-weekly updates. If bi-weekly means twice per week or every two weeks, is up for interpretation. But neither happened anyway.

Bi-weekly I'm pretty sure means "every 2 weeks' but since he hasn't posted for nearly 7 weeks now, you are right, neither has happened. And its got nothing to  do with the Chinese New Year which hasn't even happened yet.

it's just a waiting game. when fc posts share price will either plummet or go up greatly. problem is noone knows what he will say.
seems some internal splits could be an issue. but, most of the core team have done well with their share of AM so it would seem like something petty to fight about. no point in speculating since there is nothing to speculate on.

Watching the AM stock price move over the last week is a remarkable exercise in psychology, to see emerge a cycle of greed followed by a cycle of fear.

It's clearly a pump and dump.

Whenever a company announces an important date in advance, it has the responsibility to keep every shareholders informed at that date whatever the progress is. Otherwise, it shlould be punished by introducing an apparent chance of pump and dump.

Friedcat has definitely handled PR quite badly this time. In real stock market, he could have already be investigated by the regulation authority.

Would explain why exactly after 100 shares are sold someone wants to buy 100 shares. Sucks to be that guy since hes not gonna get his shares back.

People pushed the price up to 0.70BTC for no other reason than the 20th January was approaching. I said how stupid it was at the time to buy based purely on a date. Those same people are now being punished by the price drop. There is no "conspiracy" here or game playing, just bad tactics.
