Are you that ignorant or plain stupid? DataTank Mining project is a customer of AM. AM is one of the - if not THE - healthiest BTC HW business and is not "crowdfunding" anything.
How blinkered you remain. If DataTake Mining were a customer, they would have paid for the product directly, without the need to request crowd funding, it's a simple point, perhaps you will take a few seconds longer to comprehend it before lashing out abruptly with abuse. Please explain to me how a customer of A.M. choosing to fund raise in this way in any way reflects negatively on A.M.? Are you inferring that there isn't enough demand without this IPO for A.M. to sell out Gen 3? On what information are you basing this assertion?
I made no such assertion that it reflects negatively on anyone. I posed the question; why crowd funding? I'd have expected, if these chips have already been sold, then shareholders should see some dividends, and if the sale is subject to fulfilment of the crowd funding, then shareholders will be waiting even longer for dividends. Yeah yeah. Same as Rockminer et aliud. Pathetic. When would a Spondoolie miner break even if I bought one now? What's that? You don't know because you can't predict the future?
Of course I can't predict the future. The same way you can't predict when will you receive dividends. It can be in 1 month, it can be in 6 months. Are you that ignorant or plain stupid? DataTank Mining project is a customer of AM. AM is one of the - if not THE - healthiest BTC HW business and is not "crowdfunding" anything.
Now crawl back to the cave you came from and troll in some other thread. And take the other two trolls with you.
Healthiest? How come? AM is just cash-less sitting on 60PH worth of wafers. Where is the health in there? They can't even help the bitcoin network with some hashpower of their own so that Ghash can go below the 50% share. AM self-mining is just a joke at this moment. Their future relies on selling inefficient chips to customers. Löl. Your attempt is so poor that I am not even bothered to reply. Putting the troll-trio on ignore now. ^^

I posed the question; why crowd funding? It's really quite simple. They lack the capital. Would it be better if they took non-refundable preorders instead? AM is just cash-less sitting on 60PH worth of wafers Is 60P worth of wafers not healthy? Spongebobtech had to crowdfund via non-refundable preorders just to build something like half that amount even though they didn't lack the capital. Of course I can't predict the future. The same way you can't predict when will you receive dividends. It can be in 1 month, it can be in 6 months. So why are you asking us questions we cannot answer?

We'll take dividends any way we can get them. Also on the plus side, DataTank will be able to buy the chips with BTC instead of fiat. ^ THIS. now calm down, errbody cool. this is AM's official thread.

I used to feel there was more in building mining equipment then mining but I've since revised that to there's more in obtaining crowdfunding and pre-order money.

I thought their operation was funded with VC, eliminating the need for pre-orders.

The company ran 9 months without taking any money and they got the SP10 miner in the market without the need for pre-orders. Not something that AM did anyway. Enjoy your non-existing dividends blind shareholders.

Is 60P worth of wafers not healthy?
Of course it's not healthy if they won't sell. How do you presume FC bought 60P worth of wafers if the chips were not selling? They will sell as long as it remains the best deal. Spongebobtech had to crowdfund via non-refundable preorders just to build something like half that amount even though they didn't lack the capital.

Enjoy your non-existing dividends blind shareholders. So it's completely acceptable to take preorders because you sold in stock built to order hardware? Regardless of whether the investments were private or not, the company did not run 9 months with no funding. But yes you are right AM did not take 9 months to produce working hardware. They did it in only 6. Both AM and spongebobtech used VC to produce and sell hardware. But only spongebobtech is crowdfunding via non-refundable preorders.

Thanks, but how does that help me fund a venture that shifts all of the risk to its customers?

Of course it's not healthy if they won't sell. Why on earth wouldn't the most efficient ASIC available today not sell?

How can a chip that does 1.1W/Gh be the most efficient ASIC available? In one month we will have 0.5W/GH miners while you are waiting to sell last year power efficiency chips. I have 1.1W/Gh since October from my Jupiters. Buying the same performance in June/July this year would be the equivalent of shooting myself in the foot.

You know that 0.5w/gh at the wall is last years performance right? Bitfury 55nm chips could go as low as 0.38w/gh or about 0.5w/gh at the wall.

The great thing is that they don't have to be the most efficient to sell. Notice the RBOX's are selling.. What??? They aren't the most efficient and really won't even ROI. But.. How is it that people are buying them? Maybe your assumption that only the best can survive, or even thrive in this business is wrong.

The chip is not 1.1 J/Gh, some miners using the chip are. ASIC != miner. AM does not sell miners, it sell chips. AM BE200 ASIC - 0.554 J/GH @ 11.52 GH/s Spondoolies Hammer ASIC - 0.58 J/Gh @ 7.5 Gh/s

The great thing is that they don't have to be the most efficient to sell. Notice the RBOX's are selling.. What??? They aren't the most efficient and really won't even ROI. But.. How is it that people are buying them? Maybe your assumption that only the best can survive, or even thrive in this business is wrong.
The 32Gh/s units are selling? Ok, let me know when you sold all your 60PH worth of chips, not a couple of units. Unlike you, I'm neither. The chip is not 1.1 J/Gh, some miners using the chip are. ASIC != miner. AM does not sell miners, it sell chips.
AM BE200 ASIC - 0.554 J/GH @ 11.52 GH/s Spondoolies Hammer ASIC - 0.58 J/Gh @ 7.5 Gh/s
Ok, but what's the use of that chip if the whole system needs ~1.1W/Gh. The SP10 is 0.85W/Gh for the whole system. Show me one AM BE200 miner with less than 1W/Gh.
