So, not like I told it?

I wonder if that's a bug in the system, or a deliberate prank (on account of today is April 1st)?

Apparently there's still some issues with the Avatar thing - should be fixed tomorrow (see Meta)

Oh, hey there bick. Didn't recognize you with the new haircut. Looks like avatars are working again? As for the coin price, I highly suspect it'll drop several percent by this time tomorrow because it's invoice time and every time we get invoices paid in coin the price bottoms just before I have time to cash out.

How low will it go?  I am guessing a Sub 100$ sometime this year.
How high will it go? I am guessing a Over 400$ sometime this year. (Coincides with shipping of your boards.)

It would take something pretty catastrophic from a security point of view (50% attack or the like) to make bitcoin drop to $100.  Even the big bears have been unable to keep it sub $200 with all the shenanigans this year, and with the reward halving around the corner, buy demand will only increase vs supply. Purely speculation on my part though.

price predications are really hard to make with any degree of accuracy.

Sub 100 would only occur  with a far better tech for a far better coin.

Maybe the UN makes a world crypto coin  all major countries go in on it and every other coin gets absorbed or pushed aside.

So, I think the Compac PCB is pretty much done. I have a small few particulars to iron out regarding the LEDs, but the other 99% is pretty well done. I've sent off a drawing to heatsink guys so hopefully I'll have an idea soon on what prices and times will be like.

The Amita PCB shouldn't be too hard to design off this one. It'll probably use two of the same heatsink. The board will be a bit wider to accomodate additional node-level capacitors and any other required balancing/OVP circuitry, but shouldn't take too long to conjure up. We should have all parts in tomorrow to populate a test regulator board and the BM1384 breakout boards, which means that I'll be able to prototype every circuit in use on the Compac and make sure they all work as expected before sending off for prototypes of that PCB specific.

Which means that, if I spend the weekend verifying operation, we could send off for prototype PCBs on Monday and have a real life Compac stick miner by the end of the week after. If I spend an extra day rigging up a two-chip string and working over Amita circuits and PCB design, we could send off for prototypes of both boards, meaning I could have TWO real-life stick miners by the end of the week after.

So. Today is shaping up to be a good day.

Compac PCB is tentatively complete. BM1384 breakout boards just arrived, as did all the parts to populate it, and all the parts for the Compac regulator test board. Also it's Friday, which means $2 cheeseburgers at the Waffle House. So this afternoon I get to start populating boards and testing circuits and eating cheeseburgers and other awesome stuff. If I can ever find my camera I'll put up some pictures of actual hardware later. Because if we have pictures of actual hardware you're a lot less likely to think we're just scamming people for cheeseburger money, right?

This is of utmost importance... without photoproof, we can't establish for sure if you're eating cheeseburgers or you're redirecting ALL the money you've got from us to spend it on cheap games on steam.

Yes, we definitely need POC on this project. Not proof of concept, proof of cheeseburger!

Well, if you know me you'll know I'm outspoken on three things above all else.

1. Video games are a foolish waste of time, and that energy spent on entertainment could be better spend on building awesome stuff.

2. CHEESEBURGERS

3. Butts are funny

The third thing doesn't really enter into this discussion substantially, except perhaps peripherally that cheeseburgers come on "buns" which are especially humorous when delivered in pairs. But yeah, no video games are being bought with the sandwich fund. Friday's cheeseburger day comes out of my own pocket, but I will note that the crew ate dinner on Wednesday from the sandwich fund and two-thirds of us ate cheeseburgers.
