101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] The great Gulden thread / sneak peak witness leak on: March 15, 2018, 09:47:14 PM

Holy fuck holy fuck. These cunts weren't lying , I am so fucking happy right now!!

Has a release date been given?
no official announcement in slack , or dev.gulden.com

Gulden will be the envy of many when the release comes. Can't believe this work is being done on the QT. Masterful ! Is MaNI doing the UI work?

Developers have bought themselves a few months with this reveal. I don't care if the price drops but they must stop being slow and get on with the work instead of wasting time banning on slack.

I doubt this will have effect for more than a week.

Hello and thanks for the information BioMike

I have Googled information on mining Auroracoin and all of the information more or less is outdated and no longer applicable (has to do with the old miner I had and used to work fine). I have tried downloading simple miners and trying to input information when asked for the information to put in.... Is like speaking another language than I understand. So I am still looking for good reliable information on exact step by step guided information on how to mine Auroracoin.

So, I spend some time on looking how GPU mining worked again (I'm not really a miner myself) and agree that some tutorials would be helpful.
Mining-wise Auroracoin works similar as mining Digibyte. Here is already some links to get you started:

https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/guides/how-to-mine-digibyte/
https://steemit.com/digibyte/@wessel/how-to-mine-digibyte
https://github.com/sgminer-dev/sgminer  <= development on that seems to halted though

I do already have an Auroracoin wallet, is there any need for another wallet? What is a daemon wallet?
What is an RPC interface?
How do I go about configuring and where does this information get put, what do I specifically write, where do I write it and why?

Thank to any an all in advance.

Kind regards

If these things are unfamiliar to you, I suggest to start pool mining and not solo mining. The links above describe that.

I'll see if time allows me to write up some tutorials soon.

Nice picture. Let's see what the price does when BTC stops dropping, BTC price is slowly increasing.

The change in emotion is funny to watch, though.
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] The great Gulden thread on: March 14, 2018, 08:38:46 AM
Where do you forsee the bottom will be for gulden? €0.06 before the despair phase kicks in?

Things look already desperate for quite some time.

If devs and relatives would be buying NLG, that would actually be a good thing, as it consolidates the price and they actually put their money where their mouth is at. I would be more concerned if they wouldn't be buying their own stuff.
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] The great Gulden thread on: March 13, 2018, 09:02:58 PM
It is the coin of holland, it will not be that much outside of it. I think it will only gain traction in holland, and not outside

It started as that, but the devs have let that loose and now target the world? Or was it only Europe? Any way, they should have stick to the Netherlands. Try to get mass adoption there first, that's hard enough in itself.
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] The great Gulden thread on: March 13, 2018, 11:23:52 AM
I understand that one wants to focus effort on the development rather than communications but as an open-source project IMHO you shouldn't hide behind closed curtains.

As some of the readers here know, I co-develop a coin as well. Our communication is also lacking, but if someone has valid questions I'm always making a few minutes free to answer them. It's not that difficult.
107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] The great Gulden thread on: March 13, 2018, 10:22:28 AM
Thanks to BioMike for opening the new thread.
An openly accessible platform is essential for discussing both positive and negative news.
An approach such as slack, which is more reminiscent of 1984, does not necessarily promote confidence in the product. This is why I definitely prefer this platform here.

I don't know Rijk as a person but is he more extreme left or extreme right when it comes to censorship and his viewpoints?

Left / right are more economic terms, which he does not give any insight to (and personally, I don't care for that in a crypto). The crypto community was in the past mostly left oriented (in the past, Gulden had an UBI (Universal Basic Income) initiative in the Netherlands), but this has shifted in the years.
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] The great Gulden thread on: March 13, 2018, 09:30:30 AM
I agree with OP. I fully believe in openness at whatever the cost. Because if someone like me can read all of that and somehow still believe in Gulden, then it means the project has people who actually believe in it. I think for an alt like Gulden to have survived for so long and even rise somehow also shows that small but dedicated teams still can make a lot happen. I may never one day be able to use Gulden the way I would like to (until I access the markets in Europe). But that is a hope I like to keep.

All my coins I intend to hold and use properly. Gulden has what so many alts don't. A community that actually uses it!

I've always been open on that Gulden itself is a good thing. I just don't agree with the current course of the dev team. I have peace with that.
109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] The great Gulden thread on: March 13, 2018, 09:17:12 AM
This is a non-moderated thread, and I intend to keep it that way. People are free to voice their own opinions and facts, always check those facts yourself.

If you're looking for the thread from the Gulden developers, you can find it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1577392

More will follow here, when I see fit.

Follow up from thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1495990.0

I have decided I am going to get this thread locked or deleted because of the false information and accusations against Rijk and the Gulden development team. I originally created this thread to talk about gulden as a investment but it has degenerated into something rather ugly. Please refrain from replying to this thread.

As messy as it looks, I don't agree with you. This thread just shows nicely the psychology around Gulden, which is key in answering the question you set in the first post. I'm not sure to what things you point to about false information, because that's not the same as what some people don't want to hear, Accusations against Rijk and the Gulden team... well, they are grown up enough to defend themselves, no need to nanny them. Did they ask you to intervene, because their egos couldn't stand the free discussion we're having here?

If they would come here and answer questions that people have, we could maybe have a nice conversation here (I think we are all interested in some more in-depth information here). Yet the team decides to hide in their ivory tower because it seems to be afraid for critique.

If this thread closes, another one will start. I'm sure of that.

<edit>I just did that.</edit>

Hello all

I am new to this forum so please bear with me if I ask of things that have already been talked about.

1. Were can I find a reliable solo miner for my GPU to mine AUR?
2. Were can I find detailed, exact information about what text or wording I need to put into such a miner and where in the miner, so it will mine AUR?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome,

In general mining AUR is not really different than other coins and there have been plenty of tutorials written on getting GPU mining going on Auroracoin.
Just use Google. Keep in mind Auroracoin uses 5 different algos, 2 are not suitable for GPU mining (SHA256D and Scrypt), Groestl-myr is a maybe (I heard there are asics for that algo now as well), Qubit and Skein should be ok.

In short:
1) Get the right GPU drivers for your card(s)
2) Install mining software.
3) Install the daemon wallet and setup the RPC interface*.
4) Configure output address, the algo (GPU settings could be tweaked, but normally you should start that when it is successfully running) and the RPC interface of a daemon wallet.
5) Run.

* Do note that this is can be a security issue when not properly setup. Setting it up on the same system as the mining software is recommended. Also, the wallet needs to be fully synced.

You could setup solo mining, but my advice is to start looking for a sufficiently large pool. It makes it much more easy and quicker to setup, especially when you're just starting with mining.

Nog wat nieuws omtrent de Gulden??

Niet echt... iedereen zit te wachten op de nieuwe release, maar het dev team is niet echt duidelijk wanneer dat nu eens gaat komen.

Has the sneak peak been revealed on slack?

Myraidcoins sent me a PM , he has sold all his coins and moved on. Good on him for not doing it in public.

I will do the same if the sneak peak is not revealed next week and it won't be pretty.

Rijk has said many times he does not care about the price, pushing the coin to 100 sat to make a statement is not going to work with Rijk. You will only be hurting the coin and not Rijk, slack users must ask him when is the sneak peak coming and do it in private.

Myraidcoins was a long time supporter of gulden, he would of still gotten out with a good profit. Was it because of the time it's taking to do the sneak peak that made him sell?

of course it's indirectly to do with the sneak peak, all it would take is print screening and pasting the image of the new PoW2 features and carrying on with development.

It shows they far from ready and dragging things out to avoid the price collapsing.

Seriously... people are dumping because of the lack of a screen cap? NLG just works and has a large list of stores that accept it. This is the key selling point of NLG, not some magic fairy dust tech that is looking for an issue to solve.

I recently broke up with my gf over the price of Gulden. I convinced her to spend our holiday money when the price was over 0.31 on Nocks after a work friend told me about Gulden.

First few days it went well because the price went to 0.39 but after it got to this price it started coming down fast. When the price went below 0.25 she grew distant mentally and two days ago we had a huge fight over this and we ended the relationship. I also took money out of my savings to buy her portion of the gulden at 0.31 rate to try keep the peace but obviously this meant we couldn't go on vocation.

I knew the risks when buying but didn't explain the risks to my gf but on the bright side I got to see her true nature and I am happy we have ended it.

I started buying again to try lower my average because I think this coin does have potential and maybe if she contacts me in two years I will reply with this song.

You failed investing 101. NEVER spend money you need. But, now you learned the hard way.

I got a whatsapp from my ex gf today telling me I hope the relationship was worth your bad gulden investment (basic translation in summary). Price is bad today , should I buy more to lower my average? The price keeps going down, what do you think is the bottom?

Did you actually read what I said? Got money to spare? Maybe pay back the debt to your ex first.

He did buy his gfs coins , check the bolded part. Still shit for him, price is down more then 70%.

That bold part was what I added. He took money that he wasn't supposed to use for buying cryptos, now he asks if he should pour more money into it (which he clearly hasn't got, because that got him in that problem in the first place).

Seems like we've reached a new low since the start of the year.
119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Gulden a good investment? on: March 04, 2018, 04:40:13 PM
gulden is making a steady progress. clean rise is visible not affected in recent days by major pumps and dips of other markets. Once Gulden is adopted as a payment method, this coin's price will skyrocket. It can reach 20-30$ value in the 2018.

I did a hypothetical calculation once. What price would Gulden have when it would be equal valued as Bitcoin?
Well here we go!

Bitcoin amount of coins = 16,804,300 versus Gulden 390,365,100 =23,23 times more Gulden on the market.
Devide the Bitcoin price (say $11500) by that 23,23 and we have our hypothetical Gulden price of $495,-

But let’s make it even crazier. Bitcoin price was $20000 not so long ago. That makes an astonishing $861,-

Have fun trading at current 14 cents. I know what I would do. 🚀🚀 (and are doing) 🤑🤑.

Hmm... every coin makes those calculations... fun to do, but say little. Let's assume 0.1% of the European market makes use of Gulden, what would its price be than? I think that would be a more interesting calculation. ;-)
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Gulden a good investment? on: March 04, 2018, 12:31:33 PM
Look at the top 20 for safety.

https://soylentnews.org/article.pl?sid=18/03/03/1943233
Hmm... are you sure? (This isn't the first time that this "coin" hits the news with "fixed flaws".)

Seriously, there are at least 6 or 7 coins in the top 20 that I would not trust my money to.
And if you're in it to make more money, well, you can do that with almost any coin (some of the
more suitable ones aren't even in the top 20).
