1001  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: January 09, 2020, 09:14:08 PM
Madrid easily won yesterday night, And we are now in the process of receiving a derby or classico on final. I think many will prefer Classico  Grin This is, of course, if Barcelona can beat Atletico's

I think that a Madrid derby is going to be more interesting.
In my opinion, Atletico needs to be qualified but they are weak after Griezmann left. Only Joao Felix is a dangerous player.

I would love a Madrid derby too, but Barcelona is very strong and will easily cross Atletico.
So we'll watch Cllasico, and Real can win the cup if he plays like last night.

In which time dimension are you leaving?
Match already ended 15 minutes ago and Barcelona lost!
1002  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: January 09, 2020, 08:59:26 PM
WTF have I just watched! I'm still in shock. 45 minutes, 5 goals, 2 disallowed goals, 1 penalty, 1 obvious penalty disallowed. So is it end for Valverde at last? Look at Messi's face at full-time says so.

Are you serious? Joao Felix is single-most overrated player of the decade. He's still a kid with loose touches, he still doesn't know how to come in scoring positions. Only thing he can do is dribbling and beating defenders, well every other striker in the world can do so. He is still very young and if you are watching the match currently, he only had 13 touches so far with 0 shots, 0 dribble attempts, 0 crosses, 0 playmaking in first half. The only thing kid showed in first half was anger, first at Suarez then at Messi.

While on the other side, Messi already have over 55 touches and Griezmann over 35. Barcelona is clearly dominating the game and will this one easily in second half. The only person saving Ateletico Madrid so far is Jan Oblak (the man is steel, literally).

I will watch this match between Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid and I would like to see Griezmann and Lionel Messi's up front and they will be a duet in this match because this trophy is quite prestigious.

Don't worry, you will surely see the pair of Lionel Messi and Griezmann upfront alongside Suarez as these three are preferred starting trio for Barcelona since Dembele is injured.
I won't deny the fact that adding semi-finals to Supercopa have added some spices to the competition. Earlier only single match (or 2 legs sometimes) was/were used to play but now contest has been extended to 4 best Spanish sides, great!

I'm sure Barcelona will win against Atletico Madrid with a score of 3-1, betting is also quite interesting here.

Odds for Barcelona's win are almost 2/1 and worth a try. I am thinking to go 4/5th amount on Barca's win while 1/5th on draw which is around 18/5.
1006  Economy / Economics / Re: Since 2009 There Was A 500% Increase In Internet Traffic. on: January 09, 2020, 04:36:09 PM
People want more internet and more cloud storage. We don’t use floppy disks, cd ROMs or even external hard drives to store our data anymore. Data is heavy, precious and entrusted to large centralized data centers. With all this demand these centers can’t cope. Users can’t access their data with simultaneous efficiency. outstripping growth blockchain companies are looking to provide an answer

Some decentralized blockchain projects require decentralized storage, but decentralized storage doesn't need blockchain to work. In fact, blockchain is undesirable there, because it's redundant, inefficient, doesn't scale well. Also, centralized data stores will generally be faster and have more capacity, the point of decentralized ones is censorship resistance, which comes with tradeoffs.

Exactly!
There is a common misconception among people regarding blockchain technology. They think it's some kind of fairy tale magic which can make any internet use-case better. But that's not always right. Blockchain Technology is not optimizable everywhere especially when we are concerned with speedy data transmission. Blockchain Technology requires some extra computation work like Proof of Work in order to validate blocks and enhance security. But involving blockchain unnecessary will only leads to waste of resources.

I have also created thread couple of days ago to know what people think Blockchain Technology is:   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5215595.msg53544680#msg53544680
1007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] XRP.PARTY - It pays to HODL on: January 09, 2020, 03:12:21 PM
If I am understanding correctly then this is how system works, right:

User A deposits x number of XRP, he will be given credits worth x-n% XRP. The n% will be distributed to users who have bought credits before User A. This chain will continue. So the people in the starting of the chain will be most profitable while the people in the last will be most prone to losses.

Interesting concept, but this is somewhat similar to pyramid scheme and such projects don't last longer.
1008  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin & Centralization on: January 09, 2020, 02:18:32 PM
There will always be poor, rich and ultra rich people no matter what currency are we going to use. However decentralization in Bitcoin is about not being controlled by a central entity. For example the Feds can increase the supply of US Dollar indefinitely. Also they control how much liquidiry is poured into the market, etc.

Well, you are partially countering your own argument.

If I have lots of Bitcoins (say, 5-10K), I can easily control the liquidity in the market.  I can easily fake pump/dump by choosing any single exchange and that will manipulate the whole market.

That's the current misery with Bitcoin. Although the Proof of Work algorithm ensures its fair-working as a currency (since lots of nodes already ensuring decentralization of chain's instance) but 'Bitcoin as an investment' is still prey to the early holders. That's what make Bitcoin a risky investment and main reason why it is referred as Bubble by many experienced investors.
1009  Other / Meta / Re: How about a merit faucet / puzzle? on: January 08, 2020, 04:11:06 PM
No offense but I consider all these newbie-supporting scheme as an easy way of farming accounts. Any experienced member can make a new account and start claiming such merits much faster than real newbies.

Being an avid supporter of *Capitalism*, I never liked the idea of government providing free supplies to poor and taxing high-rates to rich. Everyone should be given equal chances in similar environment. If newbies are smart enough, they will make their way up to top soon without any assistance.
1010  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Reduce 50 merit limit per post. on: January 08, 2020, 03:58:06 PM
I still find merits very hard to earn. Many times I make good posts, which I spend lots of minutes writing/formatting etc and receive 0, or 3, etc.

However, there are sometimes merit sources or even not-sources giving 50 merit in a single post.

I believe there are hundreds, maybe even thousands of posts here which deserve not only 50 merits, but 100, 200. However, if a post is that good, it will be merited by multiple users and not 50 by a single one.

A post which few people gave 1 - 2 merits and one guy gave 50 is very unbalanced. No post deserve all that in a single transaction. This is a flaw in the merit system imo. If you take a look carefully, you will find that most of those 50 merit transactions are for bad posts, not good ones. No need to cite them here, everyone has already saw this happens many times before.

I am a merit source, but I don't find so difficult to spend my smerits. I prefer to give 3-4 per good (or above average) post than to give 50 in a single transaction. And I certainly prefer to see 50 smerits go poof than to give an overmerited stats to someone.

We are not running any race here, nor are we competing on the basis of merits received. Merit is just a functionality to make ranking-up more reasonable. It shouldn't be consider as metric to determine the ranking of members or posts, like who's better than whom or which post is better than other (as you are implying).

Also, as far as merit abuse is concerned, it is easily distinguishable when a member is giving away 50 merits with malicious/biased intent or when he's giving on the basis of quality. So the issue of long range of single merit transaction (1-50) isn't serious one, IMO.

1011  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: January 08, 2020, 02:07:55 PM
^^^^ I agree with JSRAW. Sreyas Iyer can be tested as the T20 captain. He is young, and he has captained his side in the IPL. He is one of the players, who has the potential and caliber to become the backbone of the Indian batting lineup in the future. Also, I agree on Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul. For now, these players need some match practice.

Shreyas Iyer is one of my favorite player right from the IPL season when he was opener for DD and ended that season as a player scoring second most sixes right after Chris Gayle.
I think he plays his most natural game as an opener so India should try him as opener in T20 format and that may bring positive results for the team. He is a player who can give you the career of 10-12 years as a top-class player.
1012  Local / India / Re: Brainstorming various ideas for Reshaping the Indian Board on: January 07, 2020, 06:09:37 PM
I like the idea of 'Bitcoin Development' board.

More recently, government of India have started taking lots of interest in Blockchain Technology. There are over 50 startups reported to been aided by government which are indulged in blockchain-related solutions. Government maybe against cryptocurrencies but it certainly want to succour blockchain related businesses. But I hardly see discussions regarding these on forum. So it is essential that we have child board completely dedicated to posts regarding what we have achieved in the field of cryptocurrencies & blockchain so far as well as potential upcoming projects specifically for Indian market.

I thought of posting such developments here but again the problem is that Main Board is quite unfit for such posts and 'Press & News' child-board is usually for updates and not for serious discussions.

I would love to see Indian blockchain startups to register and post their project on BitcoinTalk (kinda we used to see few years back like Zebpay) and will try to persuade few of them myself. Will even try to host QA on their behalf here if other members show some interest. But again the problem is that Indian Section is quite disorganized. We need a proper child-boards before we can start something new in our sub-board.

...snip...

5. webtricks - Recently I have an eye on this user and they seem to be emerging as net positive on the forum and Indian board on the whole.

The first 3 were highly inactive and doesn't seem to be returning as active users anytime soon. While the latter 2 would be suitable candidates but it's completely based on reporter history, trustworthiness and their view on how neutral they are.

Honestly speaking, I have never seen myself as a moderator of the Indian section. But if it's good for the Indian board then I may take up this duty if other members agree. However, on the other note, whosoever becomes moderator (if someone becomes moderator), it is expected from him/her to contribute something out-of-box to make section more organized and popular than just moderating threads.
1013  Economy / Economics / Re: Your Views: Which Innovative Ways Government Might Use To Expand Crypto Use on: January 07, 2020, 04:09:16 PM
This is a big if but if a government one day decided to try to make crypto use wide spread among masses, what do you think they would do to achieve their goal?

We all know the current state of play with reluctance on part of governments that is why I said "if"....

On my part I would like to see tax free purchases of all property (such as houses, apartments, etc) where you pay to buy a property but you do not pay any tax.

Maybe there can be some strings attached such as the tax-free allowance would only be on condition of the property not being transferred to another name or not be re-sold for (say) 36 months either using fiat or crypto. If it does get sold within 36 months (using either fiat or crypto) then the full taxation from the sale of the property will be due to be paid within 30 days or 60 days.

However, if a sale of crypto-purchased property takes place after 36 months of it being last purchased and is sold in a fiat transaction then full tax will be due but if it was sold using crypto then no tax will be due.

What would be your ideal way to see a government introduce a crypto-friendly strategy with a view to trying to make it as a counterbalance to fiat?

So you really think a government will first lose its control over economy by letting citizens use a cryptocurrency and then on the top of that, will let its revenue decrease by not taxing the remittances made in cryptocurrencies!!
That was quite an ask from a poor government. I would be happy even if my government just allow me to use cryptocurrencies for all kind of payments, no matter whether such transaction is taxable or not. With distinguishable advantages that crypto offer over traditional money, I don't think government need to promote the use of cryptocurrencies. It just have to give green signal and people will inevitably start using crypto right away.
1014  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How would you define Blockchain Technology in a single phrase? on: January 07, 2020, 03:34:00 PM
Most of the people had their first encounter with blockchain technology only after they started using cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. Many of the crypto users are still buying/selling or investing in cryptocurrencies without having slightest idea about what blockchain technology is and how it works.

In my opinion, every forum member should learn and understand about blockchain technology and thereafter contribute to this decentralized revolution by building something new. Why should we all stop at Bitcoin, right?

But more importantly, I want to know how you guys treat Blockchain Technology. The answer to this very specific question will determine what the future of blockchain tech will be. So vote in the poll. If you have any other definition then feel free to elaborate in a reply.

1016  Economy / Economics / Re: What is safe asset? And If USA dollar weakining what is Next Fiat? on: January 06, 2020, 05:18:02 PM
USA dollar weakining coz of war
So what is Next currency to use?
Its a euro?

How do you reach to the conclusion that USD is weakening? So far, the potential possibility of war has no impact on US economy. Prices of USD in relation to other prominent currencies are still constant. Here are the charts showing EURO/USD  and POUND/USD pairs for last 1 year:

You can observe that exchange prices are mostly constant with slight exception in August 2019.

And what is the safe asset?
I Think its not Gold and its not Property either

Nothing is safe. Every asset has risk element, that's why it's called investment. When economy weakens, every asset/investment in spot market falls. There is hardly any exception. However, economic recession may increase the demand of cryptocurrencies therefore increasing their prices but this theory is still untested and cannot be relied upon.

With Courtois looks like back on his best form and just waiting for eden hazard doing the same thing ... as time goes by barcelona should be careful with real madrid on the rise.

I would backing real madrid to win the la liga title this year too , barcelona have a serious problem with their manager valverde ... the fans enough pissed off with the unsatisfying valverde coaching style.

Right, Real Madrid is getting momentum back. Once they are able to certain their forward three, they will become invincible. Currently due to injuries, RM still not sure about their forward three. But as the tournament progresses, I am seeing Hazard-Benzema-Isco as preferred forwards with Rodrygo and Vinicius coming in as subs.

On the other hand, I don't see Barca's miseries ending anytime soon unless they change the manager. I don't know why Barca's board is so stubborn for Valverde when majority of Barca fans and supporters demanding otherwise. Club football is different from national football. In club football, business is equally important as game. Not changing manager is constantly lowering Barca fan base as well as brand value. This is not good for both business and game.

Looks like Mikel Arteta finally clicked the right pulse of Arsenal. Wonderful flowing football from Arsenal as I am used to see since childhood.

Hope second half also turns as productive as first for them (I picked 3-2 win for Man Utd but who cares. I am ready to drop points in every game if opponents play such a beautiful game).

Combination of Lacazette-Pepe-Auba-Ozil is clicking very good at front.
