10122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do we need anonymity? on: August 09, 2019, 10:12:29 AM
I don't think we need anonymity.
But we shouldn't be forced to identify ourselves in transactions where our identity is irrelevant.

And now, for almost everything in our life's we are requested documents. Do you want to buy a shirt? Your Id please.

This makes no sense, as my id is irrelevant when I am buying a shirt.

It is not that I want to anonymously buy a shirt, but that I want to protect my privacy while doing it, because my identification is irrelevant in this kind of transaction
10123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Consequences of BCH not Splitting on: August 09, 2019, 09:41:09 AM
Bch and bsv do not have repay protection (shitcoins).

To split your balance, this is procedure

Quote
About replay protection:

There is no replay protection between the BCH (ABC) and the BSV chains. This means that, unless you properly "split" your coins, transactions you make with one of those coins will also be made on the other.

Sending unsplit BCH will result in the same amount of BSV being sent to the same address (and vice-versa). The receiving wallet may not be prepared to accept BSV into their address, so there is a possibility of loss of BSV coins. This is not an issue specific to Coinomi, as any other wallet you use is under the same risk.

How to split coins:

Splitting is only necessary if you had a positive BCH balance on November 15th 2018. If you received either BCH or BSV after that date, they are most likely already split.

Receive a new deposit into your BCH wallet of BCH that is already split. The easiest way is to receive BCH from an exchange.
After transaction from (1) is confirmed, copy your current BCH "receive" address and send your full BCH balance to it.
Done. This should be enough for your coins to be split. This process only has to be done once. After your coins are split, they are split forever, and further deposits you receive will also most likely already be split.

How to claim BSV coins:

Only do this if your coins are already split, otherwise the transaction will happen with both coins.

I recommend that you use coinomi wallet, which support both chains
Are your both coins still there in the same address on both chains?
10124  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: MasterCard crypto Wallet on: August 09, 2019, 09:33:11 AM
There was a Visa card a few years ago called adv cash https://www.advcash.com/en/, which allowed users to have a Visa pre paid card which could be charged with Bitcoin.

That was a nice initiative, but it is not available anymore, as a few years ago visa stopped all Bitcoin related activities (afaik)

I hope his master card initiative is much more solid. I hope they are not making their own shitcoin. When will that stop? Just use Bitcoin, we don't need more coins
10125  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware wallets OLED Display Vulnerability[Trezor One, Ledger Nano S/X, etc.] on: August 08, 2019, 06:54:17 PM
The real danger is actually elsewhere, just check Ledger Reddit and you will see how many users is lost coins in last few days by entering their seed in fake tools presented by fake Ledger support accounts.

Yes, I even mentioned this attack here

Those attacks where the hacker needs physical contact with the ledger are unlikely to happen, and I agree that hardwallet users shouldn't worry.

Sadly phishing attacks are getting more sophisticated everyday, as the Electrum 4.0 phishing update and this ledger bot.

The biggest vulnerability exploit on hardware wallets are its users , which can be phished . Sadly.
10126  Economy / Services / Re: Need help with electrum wallet, paying in btc on: August 08, 2019, 05:02:30 PM
If you post your question/problem while leaving out sensitive details, you'll probably get help for free... If you insist in getting private, payed help: escrow the amount you're willing to pay using a trusted forum escrow and pm me afterwards... If I can't help you, somebody else probably will, so it's a good idear to setup the escrow anyways

Additionally, scammers will probably pm you. So I would avoid any private communication for now.

It is much better to just post your details here, and many users will help you for free. We have a great community support here. If you want you can tip users who helped you.
10127  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help with the withdrawal of funds from the wallet. on: August 08, 2019, 04:07:39 PM
I can't send funds from the app on my phone too. Yes, i have a phrase that includes 12 words.
Name of file is "electrum-private-keys.json".

With the 12 words you can just import your funds to another wallet

It may be a bug or some incompatibility with the phone app.

Download on desktop, from Electrum.org
Then click"existing wallet" "I have seed phrase"
Your funds will be there.

10129  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't Buy Bitcoin - Earn It (Antonopoulos) on: August 08, 2019, 11:49:21 AM

What Antonopoulos said is indeed great. But hey, that's only assessing the facts. It's necessary indeed for the outsiders, but we should have already known this.

This is why I posted in beginners and help.
I know you, me and a many others here are already doing this. I am  just sharing this perspective with new comers.

I agree, that's not a breakthrough. But it is certainly not something we read or hear every day, even here....
10130  Other / Beginners & Help / Don't Buy Bitcoin - Earn It (Antonopoulos) on: August 07, 2019, 10:15:32 PM
In my opinion, Antonopoulos is one of the few people that says things that makes sense in this ecosystem.
He released this video today
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=GEuMVmjKAKk&app=desktop

There are so many scammers, lies, paid chills, etc, that I don't believe many people out there. But this guys knows what he is talking about and most of what I learned about bitcoin I learned with him (books, YouTube videos, etc).

He just said something that is amazing. Stop treating bitcoin as an investment. Try to see it as money. Do you buy EUROS? You earn it, to live.

I am happy to be earning bitcoins through this forum and in a few more places. Thank you @theymos for making this forum such a great place, a place where we can earn some bitcoins here in so many ways. Bitcointalk is a place were bitcoin is money, not only an investment.

Antonopoulos gave a few ideas:
You can sell things you have for bitcoin, for example.
Make translations. Services.

He also talks in the video about bitcoin being energy inefficient.
I just made a manual transcription up while hearing it (I like to write up good ideas), and I will paste here to share with you guys (transcription not entirely faithful.)

Bitcoin uses energy in the most incredible and efficient way and convert that energy into robust security for a nation state resistant global network that is the most secure time sequenced recording of immutable truths that we have ever build on this planet.
A monument of immutability that cannot be shut down by the most powerful forces in the world.

This looks like awesome efficient use of energy.
War and Christmas light are very inefficient use of energy.

The best way to solve war? How about take money control away from government that fund war?

It is not important for you to take a coffee at starbucks.
It is very important for someone to buy a bus ticket to Turkey when they live in Syria with Bitcoin, and trust me, they can.
10131  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance KYC Data Leak - Allegedly on: August 07, 2019, 09:54:58 PM
At least now I have some advantages of being poor: 2 BTC withdrawal limits is far beyond my possibilities for trading, so I didn't need to do any KYC in binance lol
10132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Save Investors? on: August 07, 2019, 09:49:53 PM
Bitcoin never saw a global crisis before. It is possible that its price will not follow SP500 or any other index in the case of a crisis, and it may behave more similar to gold.
In this case we all we have a nice opportunity: Sell some bitcoin and buy more stable assets with a huge discount.

This may be a game changer in my life =D
10133  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why .IO is popular in crypto websites than .COM ? on: August 07, 2019, 11:11:12 AM
All answers above are wrong.

Cryptocurrency projects uses .io or .info or .tech or .shit or whatever simple because .com is not available or it is more expensive.

Take for example.blockchain.info. they bought .com finally after 10 years, for millions

About that price, .IO is more expensive than .COM.

This information is wrong and makes absolutely no sense.
10134  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to choose crypto exchange? 9 main criteria on: August 07, 2019, 11:04:06 AM
The most important about exchanges is to find one with yourfiat/BTC pair
This exchange must be reliable, with quick deposits/withdrawal

Once you find it verify your identity there, buy bitcoins and remove your bitcoins from the exchange immediately (the risk of holding funds in any exchange is too high)

Then if you ever want to buy more BTC or any alt,. Go to that exchange and buy BTC. And change that BTC for alt on binance.

You are not marrying with any exchange, if it looks like the exchange is getting troubles, just move to another one.

If you are in usa or whatever Europe you are in lucky (as always lol). Coinbase, bitstamp, Kraken, many good put there.
10135  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Tether(USDT) Trezor on: August 06, 2019, 07:05:38 PM
you can export ERC20 token private key and add it into MetaMask or MyEtherWallet

The correct terminology would be Token Contract Address, not private key.

This may lead people to paste their private keys by mistake

More information here
Quote

What is a Token Contract Address?

If you've tried adding a new token to track for a wallet, one of the form fields asks you for a 'Token Contract Address'. This refers to the address location of the actual token contract that manages the logic for the tokens. This does not refer to the address that holds your own personal tokens!

To find out what this address is, we recommend looking at the token's website for more information or going on https://etherscan.io/tokens and searching directly for the name of your token!

10136  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BITSTAMP HOLDING MY FUNDS!!!! on: August 06, 2019, 06:54:21 PM
When dealing with fiat, kyc is almost always involved.

What did you think? That you would make an anonymous financial transaction to your bank account? Also, you gave them your banking information, they already know who you are. They just need documents for legal reasons.
10137  Economy / Services / Re: I Pay you $100 for your to sign me a msg with your Bitcoin or Ethereum address on: August 06, 2019, 04:33:02 PM
btw there is no fuckn scam and when you sign the msg you will understand what i'm doing, and you feel free to reject signing if it was scam of any kind
if you can just tell us the motives behind this, people will stop guessing or think negatively of this
expressing your intentions in public can attract more candidates
is this for tax purposes?

Probably he is doing something not legal. Avoid taxes, money laundering... I am not here to judge his motives, but people who are going to sell really should consider the risks involved. You may be binding your identity to some shady activity (if your address can be tracked back to you, which probably can (to high value of funds, often exchanges are involved in transactions of so high amount)
10138  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Different Bitcoin Address Formats on: August 06, 2019, 12:31:39 PM
I've never used a Bech32 address and I've never seen any service I use offering one either.

I have used bech32 addresses a few times in coinomi wallet.
It has a feature that automatically send change to a bech32 address to reduce fees. Personally I didn't like it very much as really many services didn't recognize it and I had a few problems with compatibility.
10139  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Discord & scammers. Check user IDs and user colors of strangers send you PMs on: August 06, 2019, 11:39:36 AM
Just like bitcointalk, everyone should avoid private communication in telegram. Talk in public places such as groups, and always confirm the identity on the group.

On a group it is easier to detect scammers. Here, for example  everyone quickly tag and accuse scammers  on threads . On pm you are more vulnerable
