What Antonopoulos said is indeed great. But hey, that's only assessing the facts. It's necessary indeed for the outsiders, but we should have already known this.

In my opinion, Antonopoulos is one of the few people that says things that makes sense in this ecosystem. All answers above are wrong. Cryptocurrency projects uses .io or .info or .tech or .shit or whatever simple because .com is not available or it is more expensive. Take for example.blockchain.info. they bought .com finally after 10 years, for millions
About that price, .IO is more expensive than .COM.

The most important about exchanges is to find one with yourfiat/BTC pair
This exchange must be reliable, with quick deposits/withdrawal
Once you find it verify your identity there, buy bitcoins and remove your bitcoins from the exchange immediately (the risk of holding funds in any exchange is too high)
Then if you ever want to buy more BTC or any alt,. Go to that exchange and buy BTC. And change that BTC for alt on binance.
You are not marrying with any exchange, if it looks like the exchange is getting troubles, just move to another one.
If you are in usa or whatever Europe you are in lucky (as always lol). Coinbase, bitstamp, Kraken, many good put there.

if you can just tell us the motives behind this, people will stop guessing or think negatively of this expressing your intentions in public can attract more candidates is this for tax purposes? I've never used a Bech32 address and I've never seen any service I use offering one either.
I have used bech32 addresses a few times in coinomi wallet. It has a feature that automatically send change to a bech32 address to reduce fees. Personally I didn't like it very much as really many services didn't recognize it and I had a few problems with compatibility. |

I'm using more or less all of them (1.., 3..., bc1q...), but SegWit addresses have advantages because fees are cheaper.
I was going to ask why you use legacy. But then I remembered that I still use as well, to sign messages. They are still better for that. Only Electrum and maybe a few other software sign messages from segwit address,at least until some time ago. Do you know if bitcoin core can sign messages from segwit addresses? Any solution for this ? |

Do you mean confirmations? As TryNinja said, just email the exchange with tx id. The funds should be in your account if the address is correct. This is probably a problem with the exchange. Never heard of it, so it might not be so good... |

I cannot understand all this drama and crying about storage space in ledger nano s.
You do not need the apps installed to hold your coins. You don't need the app installed to receive coins. You just need the app installed if you want to send coins.
Do you really send your coins all the time? Can't you uninstall an app and install another when you want to send coins? That's literally takes less than 2 minutes.
And you can keep installed BTC eth (and all its shitokens) and one more protocol coin (eos, Tron and all its shitokens).
That's not that inconvenient , unless you are a frenetic trader , sending and receiving coins at super human speed. And you must be doing that with 4 different blockchain!
You can track your balance on ledger live as well even without the device plugged in

But you know.. there might be an exploit in the QR code scanner. So effectively, you are never 100% secure.
However, using a dedicated computer just for storing the private keys is definitely one of the most secure options.
I think the main reason for people to avoid hardware wallets are the physical attacks. However those attacks can't be mitigated by an airgapped computer, unless you format it after creating the paper wallet. But you could also do it in a ledger, just reset it always after use. (Pretty annoying and I don't think that's useful) |
