1021  Other / Meta / Re: Is deleting and reusing posts allowed? on: June 16, 2018, 11:24:28 AM
What an interesting catch is this ? Finding such cases can be tricky and depends on following factors:

1) How  much time does it take for Google to de-index deleted content n this forum ?

2) One can still see those posts on wayback machine but it will be a lot of work. This will be impossible for staff to track all such cases using this site.

1022  Other / Meta / Re: Simple answer to getting rid of all the trash threads here on: June 16, 2018, 11:20:57 AM
This guy will immediately close bitcointalk tab and post on reddit. He will be answered in reddit immediately and will never come to bitcointalk again.

There are both merits and demerits to making restrictions for new users on nay platform. The staff has to make final decision after evaluating everything. Having a limit for new members like x number of posts a day (initially) is however sufficient for a genuine member in my opinion.
1023  Other / Meta / Re: merit and banned on: June 16, 2018, 11:18:26 AM
- The first; banned problem :I want to say should add the warning to the first offender + the reason for warning the wrong account that caused. Many uninfected users are offended in the forum and they are unreasonably banned. So there is an email about rules sent to new members.

I agree to this. For cases like posting a copied reply without giving reference to original case, the member should be sent a warning. If he repeats the mistake , he should be abnned. But for major abuse like sending all 50 smerits to an alt, one cannot give excuse that I did this once.

- The Second, merit: Many members do not understand how to achieving merits. It is important to establish a merit scoring system because it is quite complex and difficult to understand at the moment.

Can you be more clear on what aspects you are not able to understand ?
1024  Other / Meta / Re: Let's Ban Gambling Signatures/ Advertising on: June 16, 2018, 11:14:54 AM
Here on bitcointalk we should strive to be a place of integrity and high morals.  If we trade in our morals for the allure of money we are essentially scumbags.

A lot of young users will get drawn in by these evil sites like fortunejack, bitdice, etc.  We should  protect these newcomers and not expose them to gambling websites.

I will be starting a petition to ban all gambling advertising, gambling boards, and gambling discussion to be completely removed on bitcointalk.

Let's make this a safe place for new users and people with low IQ that don't understand odds and how the house will always win in the end.

Casinos are predatory by nature and are their sole mission is to extract as much money as they can from customers.

Banning improper advertising and campaigns might be sounding ethically correct but you also need to be practical. The admin has denied advertising slots in suspicious cases , so he is already doing everything possible.

Now coming back to gambling related projects, if the site is genuine it should not be a problem. I mean if the website starts cheating the players, then it is something worth removing. The campaigns you mentioned are running for years here without any such major complaints.
1025  Other / Meta / Re: Bring back the newbie jail with changes on: June 16, 2018, 11:11:33 AM
My suggestion is to remove bumping powers from newbies and potentially Jr. Members. This way they will be able to respond but it won't shoot threads up so no new accounts will be created for spam-promotion through spam-bumping. Currently such accounts are created faster than the mods can ban them.

Also introduce reCaptchas per each post for newbies. Because automated tools can easily beat time restrictions. Such posts are made much faster than the bots can delete them.

This is a good suggestion in my opinion. The preventive measures should not require personal intervention from staff as  it will  consumes a lot of time and is impractical. However, I am not in much favor of too much restrictions on new members because that may cause them to move to other platforms. There are spammers but we cannot punish all new members for this including members joining this forum with good intentions.
1026  Other / Meta / Re: Account banned for unknown reason, help needed. on: June 16, 2018, 11:08:53 AM
A ban is never without a reason. He would have got a message explaining the reason for the ban. And the account was a newbie account, so he can make a new account. But ask him to follow all the rules carefully this time.

Also, you should consider removing the Name of the person from the message if it is his real name. Can result in privacy related problems in future.

Edit : As per the information given by experienced members here, you are not allowed to make a new account in case of perma ban as per the forum rules.
1027  Other / Meta / Re: Security bounties on: June 16, 2018, 11:05:23 AM
Admin, I have a question regarding this :  1 XAU: Find the email address of user DefaultTrust and explain in detail how you did it.

If I am able to confirm the email from different possible email id for an account , is it acceptable ? Like confirming the email id of DefaultTrust from among possible 100 mail ids.
1028  Economy / Gambling discussion / What are some unique advantages of online gambling ? on: June 11, 2018, 05:20:00 PM
I will start with one to begin the discussion. If you are putting huge amounts at stake and want to keep identity private, online gamblign comes as a boon.
1029  Economy / Gambling discussion / What is your experience with free cash bonus ? on: June 11, 2018, 05:18:38 PM
As the name suggests, this type of bonus allows you to place free bets equal to the value of bonus. For instance, if you got bonus worth $100 at the time of sign up, you can place bets worth this amount in various games. This is really good option for trying new games on various casinos. You might get lucky and make some money without the need to invest anything.

Did any of you made huge money with this bonus amount ?
1030  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do supported payment options affect your choice of an online casino ? on: June 11, 2018, 05:16:54 PM
If by payment options you mean the various cryptocurrencies that casinos operate with, yes, it does matter a lot as gamblers tend to play around with stable coins rather than the risky ones. I'd rather prefer playing with Bitcoin on a reputable casino than on an untrustworthy casino offering some shining bonuses so yeah, the choice of casino is definitely influenced.

I meant not only crypto deposits but various other payment options as well like Online transfer, PayPal and credit cards. I prefer those websites which have multiple payment options. I ave not found any casino which allows other alt coins but does not support BTC.
1031  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Gambling Versus Traditional Gambling on: June 11, 2018, 05:14:49 PM
But the real purpose of gambling is entertainment so you can't get much entertainment by playing inside your house by just looking at your monitor,in that case the traditional gambling have upper part we can get fun out there and chance of meeting new people that is what considered as real entertainment.

Also, traditional gambling is not that much addictive. A common  issue with online gambling is that you might get addicted to it. There had been a number of cases where people got addicted to gambling. They start ignoring their work or study for this and spend all their time online. This is not correct and there should be proper balance in life.
1032  Other / Meta / Re: merit and banned on: June 11, 2018, 05:11:23 PM

- The Second, merit: Many members do not understand how to achieving merits. It is important to establish a merit scoring system because it is quite complex and difficult to understand at the moment.

If you cannot understand the merit system even in months after it was introduced , you do not deserve any merits at all.
1033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I have around 8000 BTC,but my country are too small cap to cash out on: June 11, 2018, 05:10:07 PM
If you really have so much funds lying in your wallet, why don't you migrate to a country which allows this.

I have a suggestion for members here not to contact OP offering help to withdraw these BTC for some commission. This can also be some scam, it is very much common on social networks. OP should have posted some proof for this if he was really serious.
1034  Other / Meta / Re: Giving Merits to his/her alts. on: June 11, 2018, 05:00:14 PM
You did a great work by reporting these cases, we need more embers like you.

What I have observed is that number of these cases being reported has reduced over the last few days ? Is it because number of such abuse cases has reduced now ?
1035  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it enough? on: June 11, 2018, 04:58:14 PM
The number of bitcoin is only 21 million, is that enough for the future?
given the vision of bitcoin to become world currency?

what do you think of this?

I do not know if there are practical limitations to increasing that number in future. But if I was the owner/developer behind this project, I would have increased that number in future after the last coin was mined.

I do not think that this number is enough especially after seeing the number of coins with much more supply than bitcoins.
1036  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm leaving Bitcoin on: June 11, 2018, 04:56:42 PM
Based on the information you provided in your OP, you seem to be a very determined person. I wish you good luck for your future projects. At one point, you mentioned that it is not about money at all. I agree to this completely. After some point, money does not matter. It is not something that can drive you for years.
1037  Other / Meta / Re: Merit System: the true value behind it on: June 11, 2018, 04:54:48 PM
Most people see it some sort of restriction which stops them from growing their account here so that they can earn money. We should look at the bigger picture. If no such new rules were introduced to check the spam on the forum, it would affect the post quality on forum. With time this will affect the rankings on this forum and experience of other genuine readers. In such a scenario, no advertiser would like to spend money here on bounties.
1038  Other / Meta / Re: Change of username on accounts? on: June 11, 2018, 04:50:31 PM
As topic says is their a way to have a username changed per request? can this be done or would have to start over again and make fresh account. The only reason I ask this is I have another account that is my much older account and was wondering if this can be done to change it. Thanks

Most of the replies here mention that username change is not allowed to prevent scams. But if this is being done with the permission of a staff, proper review of new name can be done. In my opinion, this option should be provided to the users especially for higher ranks.

Forum can limit such requests to once per member in an year to prevent misuse of this.
1039  Other / Meta / Re: Beta of new forum software now officially open on: June 11, 2018, 04:45:41 PM
What is the current status of the new forum ?

Not to confuse OP, he means a member of this forum not the member rank.
1040  Other / Meta / Re: Email security notifications on: June 11, 2018, 04:45:06 PM
OP is admin Roll Eyes

Based on this sticky post on this section, you will ask signed message with your new email address.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0

1) I know that. What difference does it make to how should I address him ?

2) I know the process to recover as well. I am asking about specific thing not mentioned in that thread.

OP, what happens after the account is unlocked by the admin ? What will be the email id in that account - earlier one or the one that hacker used?
It will be the one the hacker used. This allows it so even if an admin recovers an account the hacker still has access to the account. /s

So, what stops the hacker to gain access back to the account ? Still waiting for an official reply on this.
