1021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Coinbase wallet has £0 balance but $ is showing as USDT on: July 25, 2023, 08:45:39 AM

The crypto network says I need ETH to activate the tokens, but this sounds like a con? Anyone have experience of1 this?

This can't be true if the platform you are into it is legit so either you messed up on a clone site or with your address so the funds send to the wrong wallet. But I am almost sure that when a platform says you need to deposit ETH or BTC to access your funds then its a scam.
1022  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Farmer's Bitcoin Investment on: July 25, 2023, 06:49:03 AM
I hope every former is investing their money after understanding the risks as well cause bitcoin prices are highly volatile so there will be unexpected price fluctuations so they should be should be prepared for potential losses or sudden declines in the value of their Bitcoin holdings.

Also, it is important to teach them there is nothing guaranteed when it comes to investments so their risk appetite is enough if they face loss or it will be a burden for them so anyone who is organizing this co operative investment plan should be aware of this not just blatantly invest on bitcoin because someone made money earlier.

There are risks in almost any investment. These farmers could have also lost money investing in Meta and Netflix stock. It is important to try and diversify your portfolio in order to hedge against volatility. Bitcoin is an investment with a promising future. $100k in 2025 is not unrealistic, but our investment strategy shouldn't just be based on what we wish to happen. We must be prepared for all possibilities and make responsible financial decisions.

I am trying to insult anyone just being rational by assuming the farmers OP is talking about may not have any idea about investing, volatility, potential, etc they tend to agree for this because someone in the community succeeded with this strategy so they are going for it but I am saying that at least they should be informed about the risks involved so it won't be a disaster to face if the results are not as expected.
1023  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Dumb seeds phrases on: July 23, 2023, 02:50:57 PM
For someone who wants to create seed phrases completely offline and better than Electrum should use an operating system like Tails
With generating your seed phrase offline, you can increase your security, but note that electrum itself is safe enough and generates the seed phrases completely randomly.
But those who seek the utmost security can go with the way there will be no compromise at all especially those who don't trust the Windows operating system. I forgot to mention that creating seeds offline on a device that they will connect to the internet later still has the risk of exposure to threats so it should be on clean air gapped device.
1024  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Dumb seeds phrases on: July 23, 2023, 12:53:38 PM
People often choose seed phrases based on memorable words or phrases, but using the same word repeated multiple times is just the dumbest thought I have ever heard. I hope no one is out there with the same thought because the seed phrases that lack sufficient entropy, become vulnerable to various attacks.

For someone who wants to create seed phrases completely offline and better than Electrum should use an operating system like Tails

1025  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My easy way to teach your kids bitcoin. on: July 23, 2023, 11:05:33 AM
The approach of teaching kids about Bitcoin via cartoon might pique kids' interest in Bitcoin but it may not be very effective as educational purposes so you have to find a way to teach them about financial literacy which will help them to understand about bitcoin better.

I would say it depends on their age a lot, if they are old enough to read on their own and understand a book then my first priority will be giving them ideas about the right books to get accurate information about money, system.  Relying solely on cartoons might limit the scope of learning so integrating other interactive and educational activities can complement the cartoon approach and enhance children's understanding.
1026  Economy / Gambling / Re: Is Stake.com allowed to lock account with $6,000 untill I lose it all? on: July 22, 2023, 10:50:00 AM
Most comments here say do KYC before starting to play. I also do that and it's a smart way but some people still value to keep their personal information safe.
Also, if KYC is so important they should just make it mandatory before you are able to make your first deposit.

It is unfair to be able to deposit and not withdraw. It's basically the same as making an investment in Logan Paul's crypto zoo, you can invest but it's not a given you see your money ever again.  Grin

It might be a trick used by the platforms to get many deposits as much as they can but they will only pay money to whoever deserves it which is legally acceptable but ethically not however we can't change the system how it used to be so the only choice is if we don't like it then choose the one which suits ours.

On the other hand, anyone can mistake even the big reputed casino too but OP spend all the money in just a day and now blaming the casino is not going to bring the money back or it's just the same kind of excuse used by the addicts to blame their mistakes on others.
1027  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't Rush Whenever Posting: Cross Check and Edit before Hitting the post Button on: July 22, 2023, 08:18:43 AM
To Non English Users
Mistake is inevitable, if there is no mistake there is no correction, that is, people make mistake and through the mistake, corrections are made. Most users submit their post without cross checking the write up. So in many times omissions occurred and some ungrammatical statement occurred and English speaking users see them as trash, shit post without correction. It is better you reread you work before posting to avoid mistake. Be a good poster. Avoid mistake. But mistake is inevitable. It most come but not always.

You don't have to make posts that are grammatically correct, its enough to make posts that make some sense, especially in the public forums. But looking for any errors by reading again won't do any harm and it will be effective to identify the sentences that are not properly constructed.

Anyway, when someone suggests you post quality over quantity it never meant long text, it just means post something knowledgeable.
1028  Economy / Economics / Re: Food security in the world has been shaken by Russia's actions on: July 22, 2023, 05:34:30 AM

I wonder what Nato is doing when all these things are happening because if I am not wrong the conflicts began when NATO countries insisted Ukraine to join them.
Here it is necessary to specify exactly what is meant by NATO, because NATO is led by the United States, which can be considered benefiting from this situation, while the rest of the countries can be considered directly affected by it.
In all my positions, I always want to differentiate between the United States and the rest of the NATO countries, because the interests of the alliance differ from the interests of each country alone, and may conflict with them. It can be said that the United States is waging a proxy war through its NATO allies who are directly affected by the measures imposed by Russia in response to the sanctions. While the United States is blessed with a strong economy capable of facing various crises, it can be said that it is indirectly benefiting from it.
Neither of them is getting any benefits or at least financially but each country from NATO is providing the firepower, new tech drones and a lot of money to Ukraine it seems to me they took Ukraine as a testing field to test all their inventions related to Military aids so they can be sure of what their actual power in case if they have to use their for own in future which really can be avoided that will bring the ease to the Russia-Ukraine war and ends will minimum damage no matter whoever wins the poor lives can be saved.
1029  Economy / Economics / Re: Food security in the world has been shaken by Russia's actions on: July 21, 2023, 03:41:10 PM
Not just Ukraine and countries that are supposed to receive the cargos from Ukraine were affected but also Russia since US imposed sanctions against them so it's retaliate from Russia's perspective if all the countries are against them. Geo political conflicts are much more complex either it has to be shut down with power which is not likely the possibility with country like Russia and trying to bring in the Peace in some way.

I wonder what Nato is doing when all these things are happening because if I am not wrong the conflicts began when NATO countries insisted Ukraine to join them.
1030  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum cannot synchronizing on: July 21, 2023, 02:18:45 PM
Could you please tell me how can I fix this problem and how can have access to my funds inside.

You are supposed to have your recovery seeds and it is the only way to access the funds you can't be able to find the issue with your existing application. As others said check your Internet connection and firewall but I would simply import the funds to another wallet even into an Android device by downloading electrum wallet.
1031  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Anyone is still using Paxful? on: July 21, 2023, 11:06:51 AM

For bitcoin and other crypto P2P centralized exchanges, there are other exchanges that are good. Kucoin, OKX, Bybit and Huobi are all good too. And some other exchanges can be good too. Have you used P2P on such exchanges that I mentioned before?
Yes, I am also using Binance p2p which has the same risk as doing on Paxful but only better thing is we can expect the better support and hopefully the scammers account will be held until everything resolves.

But in my experience using LBC for years and Paxful for a while met with lot of scammer's attempts and even some succeeded such as chargebacks and all I did is successfully terminated all their accounts and funds were locked indefinitely.

I am wanting to do these p2p deals on Paxful and also on Noones ( doing it since Paxful closed) is to make some money via deals of offering to sell and buy services.
1032  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why is Gamble gaining more fans than Bitcoin? on: July 21, 2023, 09:17:48 AM
In the world to day gambling is leading instead of BitcoinBTC (crypto currency) and more are still wanting to join gambling because the minimum age to gamble is 18+ and lot of upcomings are waiting and this is the total amount of gamblers, so let's talk about the crypto currency (Bitcoin) we all know that Bitcoin is a good investment and it has changed a lot in the crypto world but the interesting part is that the numbers of Bitcoin investors can't be compared to gamble and my question is Why? or  is the risk involved in Bitcoin higher than gambling risk?
Just chesk this source

It is really an unfair comparison so definitely there is no answer to say whether the risk involved in bitcoin is higher or it is in gambling.

The reason why the adoption of gambling is rapid is because of the evolution of the internet just as social media, youtube, online degrees, and importantly jobs which clearly insist that everything that has been done traditionally is getting replaced by the internet in the way people are liking it.
1033  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Wallet Security on: July 20, 2023, 06:41:42 PM
I will suggest you go for hardware wallets that are better than SPV wallets cause its less likely to be affected by malware and no burden of managing multiple keys.
SPV wallets are wallets that are not full clients. Meaning that you do not need to download the whole blockchain before you can use them. Neither does SPV wallet needs pruning.

Exactly, cause I think not everyone is supposed to run their full nodes unless there is some necessity for them to do. Here in case OP just wants to have better security for his assets that are stored in a wallet like Electrum and looking to increase the security further.

But running their nodes on their own servers is mandatory for anyone who seeks the utmost privacy and is not willing to rely on third part servers.

Note: Multisig wallets are for advanced users only

Above is an excerpt from the first reply/link on this topic.

that and most of the replies here are impactive as well as frightening and as such having some aspects of red flag for me right now via my proposal.

I think I need to first get very advanced first in order to make this move. I would appreciate more leads through.
If you feel you aren't capable of holding multiple keys on your own then there is an option that offers paid multisig setup like Casa which ensures that your keys will be will be stored in multiple places but its all based on trust which is against the nature of bitcoin since it encourages trustless system.

I will suggest you go for hardware wallets that are better than SPV wallets cause its less likely to be affected by malware and no burden of managing multiple keys.

But there are different kinds of wallets available for different user needs so pick yours based on your needs. And if you are just okay with a small amount then single signature Electrum wallet is enough along with passwords that ensure unauthorized access when device gets stole and buys you enough time to import the wallet with seeds and move the balance in that wallet to the new when the person is trying to brute-force your password.

-snip-
I am only deal with bank transfers and it's only with the members that I trust also I can see there is no declining in the demand, I am just afraid that if I don't move in back at right time then I am concerned those traders I usually trade might move to others.

This is probably worth checking too: https://www.reddit.com/r/paxful/

Lots of people are reporting being scammed, sometimes even by very reputable sellers on the platform. It's difficult to say what's going on here. Did the sellers suddenly decide to scam? Does someone from the previous administration still have access to the accounts somehow? Is the new administration scamming users?

Had a look but you can find most of the scams reported is most likely social engineering scams or when they are dealing with feshly created accounts because where they fell for the offers that they never imagined like over 60% than market place which is obviously coming from source that is not legit or from theirs which kind should be avoided at any cost.

Anyway, I will give it a shot myself with a small amount for a while to realize their user experience.
1036  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Anyone is still using Paxful? on: July 20, 2023, 04:22:41 AM
Go to Paxful yourself, you will see people that are advertising their ads for buying and selling on the site and you will easily know if there are active trades on the exchange.

I have been watching the Platform ever since they were back, there is no lack of liquidity there or at least for the currency which I generally trade with so isn't about that I just want to make sure their trading experience, withdrawal, and deposits are smooth.

Paxful is not P2P, it is just like Binance, Kucoin P2P and others that are centralized. Bisq is a decentralized exchange. P2P exchanges are not centralized.

Paxful is P2P since the platfrom is not creating the trade orders or set prices, its where the buyer and seller choose whatever they want and the platform collects flat1% fee and also I am encouraging the use of decentralized p2p like Bisq but with my case the volume for the order I prefer is absolutely zero and I created an offer it just sat there for very long.

I have been keeping an eye on the numbers from monetory.io since the shutdown of Paxful (after most users switched to the platforms listed there) and it doesn't look like people went back to Paxful.

1037  Economy / Exchanges / Anyone is still using Paxful? on: July 19, 2023, 01:45:01 PM
Paxful closed its service in April probably due to an internal dispute between founders but after a month they came online with new CEO,

I haven't used their service since April so I would like to hear opinions about anyone who used the Paxful platform cause I want to know is it just same as before?

I know it is a KYCed p2p platform so no need for anyone to suggest about no KYC P2P alternatives like Bisq cause I want to make sure everything is okay before resuming my day trading activities on that Paxful.
1038  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Is android laptop device good for installations? on: July 19, 2023, 10:41:59 AM
I have android laptop device that has properties of  3GB ROM and 380GB space. I wanted to use it to installed most bitcoin softwares like bitcoin core or electrum, infact I bought it for crypto stuffs and I check to see if I can use it run bitcoin node but while trying to do the installations the system gets hot and shutdown unexpected. What do you think could be the problem? Because is a new system window 8. Could it be that is not compatible or the interface is not enough to carryout softwares?
It is not a laptop, its just a tablet with keyboard attacked.

And the specs is not enough to install a Bitcoin core wallet with full blockchain data alone but it can handle the light weight SPV like Electrum along with any wallet that is available on Play Store.

I am not sure you can install another OS along with adding RAM and disk to the device and if it is possible then you can run bitcoin core.

1040  Other / Meta / Re: The problems newbies face on: July 19, 2023, 04:46:20 AM
As newbie I will advice you to be focused and be dedicated to the forum, always try to read trends and understand before replying (posting) so your posts can be meaningful to warrant you having merits.

Other members will only attack you when you are making mistakes, don't see it as quarrel, they only want you to learn more, so you can avoid making further mistakes (errors).

Welcome consistency in the forum and post things are meaningful, merits will come....
Can we please replace the "Attack" with Criticism which seems more appropriate since no one is actually attacking anyone, all they try to do is criticize if they doesn't fit what they are proposing, when they were wrong and instances like that.

And anyone who can't handle the criticism should avoid engaging in public forum discussions so it will be good for both parties. Smiley
