The first time I saw NFT was craziness because there were people willing to buy the first tweet or randomly generated images for thousands of dollars  . The hype of NFT became even crazier when national TV discussed about a young man selling his NFT for a billion Rupiah in my country to sell his everyday selfies. There is real art and in my deep heart I want to buy it as a collection but the price is beyond my reach so I never buy NFT unless from airdrop and bounty. But when the metaverse project was coming out there were a ton of metaverse projects and play to earn the hype even hotter than ever some rappers and US artists bought land and I also bought a couple of land and invested in some projects that turned out to be scams. I didn't hear any new PoW coin that made a major move last I heard is EthererumPOW and Kadena if I'm not mistaken. Like you said most of the developer now just deploy their token on Layer 1 chain like BNB or ETH or other EVM chain because it is easy to deploy and easy to get listed because there is a lot of Decentralized Exchange out there.
Or they make another coin based on Layer 1 which is called Layer 2 for scalable like Polygon or arbitrum but Yessss I do missing the good ol days of mining.
one of their struggles is when they created newly Coin with their own chain to get listed on exchange would be hard because they do need a lot of money to get listed.

I have no idea but you can go look for yourself on a site like Coingecko or coinmarketcap and short by market cap and then just look at their community if they are still alive in this bear market and the developer still make the development of the project there will be the case that the coin is still alive and go rising in the next bull market.
Because in this season or we call bear market the bear just wiped out all the bad projects I do believe there is a ton of coin dead by now.

People invest bnb, eth, btc only for profit, which is slow process as those altcoins won't pump dump randomly but meme coins does! Thats why people invest in memecoins and so memecoins are kind of trding coin now but I don't know why people take so much risk by selecting memecoin cause most of those were/are dumped and dead most of the time
