1081  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is anyone willing to help me? on: July 13, 2023, 01:58:36 AM
Although it's true the number is far lower from decade ago.
May I know the statistic for this? As far as I can tell, according to Bitnodes the last few years never surpass the current number of nodes. Well, technically the highest is around 17k according to them. I can't find the data for the last decade (back to 2013, for example)[1]. Other sources also seem to give the same picture[2]. CMIIW.

1082  Local / Topik Lainnya / Re: Hati-Hati Menggunakan Layanan Cloud Untuk Backup Wallet, Password & PrivateKey on: July 12, 2023, 03:33:18 AM
Sedikit sharing.

1083  Local / Ekonomi, Politik, dan Budaya / Re: Dengan adanya crypto apakah ekonomi anda terbantu? on: July 12, 2023, 03:26:52 AM

1084  Local / Altcoins (Bahasa Indonesia) / Re: [Q&A][TIPS] Seputar Bounty/Airdrop Di Sini on: July 12, 2023, 03:11:01 AM
1085  Local / Marketplace (Bahasa Indonesia) / Re: Semakin Maraknya Penjualan kartu ATM dan Rekening Bank on: July 12, 2023, 02:45:05 AM
1086  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: Resiko Kehilangan Key Wallet Bitcoin, Apa solusinya? on: July 12, 2023, 02:34:07 AM

1087  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Country rankings in "Bitcoin friendliness" on: July 08, 2023, 06:15:29 AM
You can search a similar list with terms like "Bitcoin adoption by country", "Bitcoin legality by country", "Bitcoin development by country" and so on. I've seen a few threads that list the rank of Bitcoin interest by countries just recently, I think you can search it here easily. For example, one of the thread that I've read use this list[1]. The problem is most of the time they never go in-depth and just claim one thing or another from some unverifiable data. If you want to find a detailed report there is none that I know of. CMIIW.

Tell me how to add a screenshot here, I will attach.
Upload your screenshot on a website like Imgur, and then use the img code to post your image, or just share the link here since you're a newbie. Make sure you blackout any sensitive information (or never include it) before you upload your image, such as your address if privacy is an issue, and so on.
1089  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: AI can hold a Bitcoin balance, send/receive Bitcoin. Worrying? on: July 08, 2023, 04:40:07 AM
with the ability to send and receiving bitcoin on Lightning doesn't augur well with me.
What are the reasons? Are you worried about the potential bugs or abuse by others who develop the script? As far as I can understand from the article, the tool is basically targeted at developers who use AI to lower the cost to launch/maintaining their apps. For end users who don't plan to use it, I don't think anything is going to change that much. Is there a new attack vector from this tool that you know of?
1090  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Tornado cash and others mixers on: July 08, 2023, 04:33:06 AM
It rather means an environment where the government is less concerned on what happens in the mixers.
Unfortunately, I don't think that will ever happen. The government will always try to control every mixing service for their own purpose, so unless the mixer works together with them I doubt they'll be free from scrutiny.

Going by your suggestion that the mixers should ban money laundering activities in their ToS. Even if they do, it cannot be monitored. I also feel that the mixers are not involved in some of the laundering that happens.
That's true, which is why I doubt it will be effective to begin with. I'm not even sure it will give them enough legal loopholes if they don't filter funds on their own, which brings another issue with potential users leaving them if they do that. There's no perfect solution for this IMO. Worst comes to worst, some mixers can stop their service and relaunch with another name (as long as they don't use the same addresses, etc).
1091  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Web3 firms are spending up to $25M on HK crypto licenses on: July 08, 2023, 04:07:37 AM
Web3 is a failed experiment. So I am not getting the point of spending so much money just for license. But I am sure the companies will have their own reasons to spend that much money.
What they mean by web3 is basically exchange/broker service. The headline is probably using the web3 terms to attract more visits, but most of the discussion revolves around exchanges getting their licenses. The goal is obviously to retain users in HK so that they can keep making profits. Asia is a huge market, it is easy to understand why they want to spend money if it means keeping or increasing their profits for the foreseeable future. CMIIW.
1092  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Warning: sigft.com is a scam website that steals your crypto on: July 06, 2023, 11:39:45 AM
Out of curiosity, why did you decide to register and use it in the first place? As you mentioned in your article, even the UI looks ugly and far from promising. Did you see their ads on Google or something? I suggest you improve your security practices and install an adblocker since Google is notorious for its terrible ads filter. Most of the time they suggest malware instead of a legit software, or a phishing site instead of a legitimate service.

Also, following the report format might be better. Especially if the website in question has a profile here. A quick search shows they have no presence on this forum though.
1093  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Promotion methods. Dark & Bitcointalk? on: July 06, 2023, 11:15:26 AM
Focusing on platforms like Bitcointalk, which provide a legitimate and regulated environment for cryptocurrency discussions, is recommended to reach a wider and more relevant audience while maintaining a positive brand image.
I'm not sure what does "regulated" mean here. If you're referring to how government regulate ads and provide sanction for scammers, I don't think that's the case here. Forum members can give negative feedback and so on, but I'd not call it a regulated environment. At least that's my understanding of the moderation policy.[1] CMIIW.

I do agree that you need to follow the forum rules to maintain a decent brand image here. Spamming your service on your post would likely make you end up on ignore list or even a ban.

1094  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Tornado cash and others mixers on: July 06, 2023, 10:41:53 AM
It is high time mixers begin to consider economic friendliness before starting operation in a particular zone.
What kind of friendliness are you talking about? A business that focuses on privacy is not going to be popular if they explicitly share data with the government. Maybe they'll do it behind the scene, though I've yet to see one that is safe from a government investigation. Another option is probably explicitly banning money laundering activities on their ToS. Not sure how effective that will be since it doesn't guarantee any immunity, not to mention their potential customer might not use them because of that too.
1095  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The possibility of bitcoin becoming a global currency. on: July 06, 2023, 10:10:13 AM
The government will need money anytime for the running of the economy. If such fund is needed when the bitcoin is in the bear market, it will be disastrous. In the other hand, will government need to wait till bull run before they can start using funds?
The volatility of bitcoin disqualifies it from being a reserve to the government fund.
I can see your point, but isn't that the goal of this study? I doubt they'd go all-in and ignore the risk when volatility hit their assets. They are probably going to measure how much volatility they can take. After that, they can discuss and calculate how much holding can they take assuming the volatility will hit them again. You can also assume the opposite, if they manage to time their exit properly then the holdings might result in a net positive.

Yes, we will talk about long-term investment, but the logic, it seems to me, for state funds should be close to that for corporate funds.
Yeah, I can see that. I'm not sure how the study will affect the perception of crypto if some of the government bodies don't really want to learn something new though. Hopefully, they are not as old-fashioned as some government bodies out there.
1096  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How lost Bitcoins might be handled in the future... on: July 06, 2023, 09:56:38 AM
Otherwise they aren't all that similar. If bitcoin is digital gold then there should be a digital recovery system in my opinion. This would take some kind of technological breakthrough plus a consensus on how to handle these sorts of issues.
I'm not sure if that's how most people see the comparison. As far as I can tell, people believe Bitcoin is digital gold because it can serve as a store of wealth quite well, not because of its technicalities.

It is a bit surprising to see new threads talking more or less about the same issue. Is there a new narrative on social media that discuss it? I wonder why though. Most people already know that losing your coins means a dead end most of the time, which is why self-custody is important. Other than breaking the trust people have in the network, I don't see how a new "recovery" mode will be accepted by the network. Maybe you can fork the chain and see if there is interest in your solution.
1097  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CEO LayerZero Twitter account hacked on: July 05, 2023, 05:23:00 AM
unfortunately this is not first time and we have seen many cases in these two months
I would not be surprised if some part of this hack is due to Twitter being dogshit after their recent shenanigans (rate limiting unverified users, etc). A few days ago I saw so many blue verified accounts posting phishing links with a ton of likes and retweets. Not sure if the account was hacked or if it was a bot account that managed to pass through Twitter filters. I'd never click links from Twitter if security is my main concern from now on.

1099  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin hash is 380,000,000TH so small miners don't stand a chance on: July 05, 2023, 04:36:57 AM
It isn't fair they're consolidating so much bitcoin for themselves but it's an open market it's business.
I mean, they do spend way more than individual miners, that's just the nature of how the market works. It happens in PoS blockchain, masternodes, and so on. It is inevitable that those with a lot of money can spend and earn more than retail users. If big spending doesn't equal more profit, I don't think mining would be as interesting for them. CMIIW.

Fortunately, there is a solution as mentioned above.
1100  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The possibility of bitcoin becoming a global currency. on: July 05, 2023, 04:26:33 AM
Perhaps most governments are not yet ready to take the same step and start using bitcoin to save funds and stabilize their fiat currencies, but it seems to me that it is only a matter of time. And the example of North Carolina will be only one of the first.
That's interesting news. It seems like they are trying to find out how reliable Bitcoin is compared to gold and other alternatives as a store of wealth against inflation. I hope the result is not skewed or judged by some biases though. It is not that difficult to see that Bitcoin is not the best choice when a bear market happens, so the best-case scenario would be to hold a little bit of their wealth on Bitcoin. I doubt they would take a higher risk regardless of how the result of the study since stability is probably their main consideration to hedge against inflation. At least no in the short term. CMIIW.
