462  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: A scammer selling Bitcoin for $1000 on: December 01, 2023, 03:53:26 AM
have found that some users have left negative tags on profile of that scammer but still he posted that update on 30th of November which lead me to think that do people still get scammed by such scammers? If yes then how could we better guide them to be aware of such scammers? I know that awareness and education will work but it's going to be a hard thing to educate everyone.
I don't think we can say much from that. It is possible that OP is just doing that because he doesn't care about his tags, and hopes that a newbie falls for their trick, just like I did when I was a newbie. After all, he doesn't need a lot of time to log in and post.

I think the tags are good enough to deter newbies or someone to make a deal with him. Nothing we can do further if people deliberately ignore it for some reason since it was not hidden on that board or his profile. I don't think you need to overstress yourself with your goal of educating people. I'm sure most of them will at least get curious about what the negative tag means and then search for a bit. There are tons of threads related to P2P scams too.
463  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: how to move currency BTC pair from one exchange to another on: December 01, 2023, 03:39:31 AM
another question is how can i even trade USD - GBP ore EUR - GBP on exchange ?
it does not allow me to deposit GBP as currency
is there another way to change currency to currency on exchange ?
Is there any reason why you want to trade a fiat pair though? I don't recall any crypto exchange that focuses on fiat trading pairs, except maybe in the forms of stable coins like USDC-EUR, etc. I assume you only have GBP to deposit but the exchange doesn't provide a trading pair for that? Can't really give you any meaningful suggestions without knowing what exchange you use, as mentioned above. At the very least, you can do P2P to trade your fiat if you can't move to another exchange. CMIIW.
464  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Goodbye Philippines for Binance. on: December 01, 2023, 03:30:47 AM
I'm curious about how they plan to block access to Binance other than blocking domains, which can be bypassed easily if the user changes the DNS resolver. Would they track any Binance address and see if any of them is connected to local exchanges or something similar so that they can block the users or send them a notice?

Another choice they can make is to buy a local exchange instead of building a new one. At least that's what happens in my country. Kinda sad to see if that happens though, since they're being very aggressive and laying off a ton of people just to save money so they get more profit. CMIIW.
465  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Sheepy - new cryptocurrency payment gateway on: December 01, 2023, 03:10:19 AM
I can't seem to understand what's the importance of the partnership you shared above since it basically means Prestashop now has your plugin available for their customers. What kind of steps will lead to a better marketplace environment from that? I don't think this is the first time a marketplace allows a crypto service to develop a plugin for their platform either; CMIIW

It would be great if you at least responded to what others said instead of just posting news here and there. You did that a few months ago iirc, I don't understand why you stopped doing that.
466  Economy / Economics / Re: Growth mindset versus fixed mindset on: December 01, 2023, 02:54:03 AM
I know that all of us gone through different scenarios and difficulties and we can understand why some cannot push themselves to be better and why some are doing better when they struggle.
It would be a good idea if schools taught something like this. It is really hard to change a mindset or personality in general if the environment doesn't accommodate them. While it is true that in the end, the person's decision is the key factor, it wouldn't be as bad as if we are encouraged to embrace the growth mindset or other positive things by others.

On the other hand, I believe early childhood is also as important to develop people's personalities, so it is a bit difficult for teachers etc if the parents don't really support it either. I do know some kids that grow up being needlessly pessimistic even though the environment doesn't really encourage that mindset. Hoping there is a trigger later on their life feels a bit RNG.
467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Best wallet for Android? on: November 30, 2023, 01:52:15 AM
I was trying to get a hardware wallet, but transacting crypto here is not legal. So, importing hardware wallets or any crypto-related gadgets is not allowed either.
That sucks. Is it illegal as in owning anything will get you in jail, or using it for payment is not allowed but you can still own it? In my country, it is the latter and we can buy and sell any crypto gadgets just fine. If you want to set up a cold wallet you probably can do it with Electrum and a live OS, or an air-gapped device like a disconnected PC/laptop. There are tutorials on this forum if you want to read it further. It should be safer compared to using an open-source wallet on an Android phone if cold storage is what you need. CMIIW.
468  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Mempool fees and Solutions on: November 30, 2023, 01:41:47 AM
What is the low mem pool fee in your opinion?
This will vary greatly depending on who you ask. Personally, anything below 50 sats/vbyte is fine for me. I do like it if it can go as low as 5 sats to get confirmation on the next block though, especially if I need to consolidate my transactions. I don't think it will happen anytime soon sadly.

Anyone who wants to make a small transaction, he may have to pay a higher fee sometimes equal or even more than the actual transact amount.
If this small transaction is related to liquidating your BTC to other forms of money, waiting seems to be the best choice. As long as the input doesn't become too big, you should be able to save some money too. If this is related to making regular payments to services you regularly use, that depends on the service I guess. Some support LN so you can just open a channel with some amount of money that can last for several payments, for example. You can also look for other services that support LN, RBF, or something similar. For example, I paid for my VPN with BTC, they allow RBF transactions and the confirmation window is quite long so the risk of being uncredited is small.
469  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it possible to mine bitcoin with my laptop? on: November 30, 2023, 01:19:44 AM
the goal is to understand how mining operates without having to buy electricity or an ASIC.
What kind of understanding are you trying to achieve here? The steps to run a miner, including setting up your wallet etc, or just the general idea of how mining works? Have you tried checking some tutorials on YouTube to see how they do it? I'm pretty sure there are other articles related to how to set up a miner for each miner app/hardware too.

I'm not sure why you need to do it yourself to understand how mining is done unless you're the type that likes to do stuff on your own following a tutorial to understand it. I believe the testnet method is the best choice for you (assuming your laptop is properly cooled), although, from your post history, it doesn't look like you're familiar with the specifics yet. Hopefully, you'll be able to learn and understand it quickly. CMIIW.
470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Uncomfirmed Transaction on: November 30, 2023, 12:31:58 AM
But checking from people's comment, I would have double spent. If I had deed that.
If you're referring to RBF transactions, then there is nothing wrong with doing it unless you send it to some payment processor that doesn't support automatic transaction detection. At worst, you need to contact support to manually process your order, but they won't ban you for doing something like that. Most of them require at least 1 confirmation before your order is considered valid to begin with. CMIIW.

I recall Blue Wallet supports RBF and CPFP though[1].

471  Local / Marketplace (Bahasa Indonesia) / Re: [Gratis] Jasa Konsultasi Spek Komputer (PC & Laptop) + Diskusi on: November 30, 2023, 12:22:32 AM
Saya pribadi ada pandangan tersendiri pada chromebook, seperti nya lebih terjangkau, lebih ringan dan lebih baru untuk versi low budget walaupun performa dan storage lebih baik laptop sih  Cheesy
Emang kebutuhan agan kayak apa aja?

472  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Report scam (free of charge) and support investigations on: November 30, 2023, 12:11:50 AM
Your site shows some statistics but I can't check the details. While the sats look impressive, it is hard not to be skeptical if there is nothing available to verify. The cooperation part is also just too broad, I guess you don't want to provide all the details publicly?

What do you mean by wallets found? Does it refer to lost wallets or something else? I think it is misleading if it just refers to a list of address that belongs to one seed/private key since tools like wallet explorer is available.

What is your relation to this company btw[1]? The address that you used is their office address. As far as I can tell they are a website developer. Do you share the same building or are you a branch of them?

473  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do we need to have a stop loss if we are 100% positive about a trade? on: November 29, 2023, 01:50:33 AM
Now, my main focus is on Bitcoin and a few other altcoins that aren't highly volatile as those useless shit-coins which exist for pumping and dumping.

Sometimes I use more than 20x leverage on Bitcoin but mostly I prefer to go with as high as 10x leverage. The 10x leverage on Bitcoin is far safer than 5x on any shit-coin that can move crazily. I know that the profits with Bitcoin trading pair aren't much as compare to others but the risk is minimum with Bitcoin trading.
But if you use high leverage, that doesn't really affect the volatility of the coin you trade right? Wouldn't that expose you to more volatility instead? I don't see why you would avoid SL altogether even if you're confident with the coin that you trade, since that confidence can't give you future insight to begin with. It is a also bit unwise to think that by conquering fear you mean not using any risk management tool available for you. I mean, you. can get fucked by many things other than wrong technical analysis.
474  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto resale trading strategy, P2P Does anyone trade like this? on: November 29, 2023, 01:28:56 AM
So you want to get more tips, but you also know a very great strategy to earn profit with arbitrage? I don't know man, sounds like you're just here to shill your paid group.

Anyway, I do know people who are dealing with P2P arbitrage. Most of them don't really do it for long though, unless you're using bots with a payment gateway that is quite fast. As far as I know, some of them buy some BTC when it is cheap, and then resell it when the price is pumping to guarantee more profit. Basically, P2P arbitrage doesn't seem to be their preferred strategy.

I second the opinion that Wise is not the best choice for payment. I recall reading how people's accounts got blocked because they used it to buy crypto on a platform that is not registered in the UK. I used them in the past to liquidate some of my holdings through my local exchange (direct deposit), but I won't do it again after their ToS gets updated. It is a pain to find a UK exchange just to avoid getting blocked. CMIIW.
475  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Is freewallet a good? on: November 29, 2023, 01:14:45 AM
To protect users from being scammed, we ask you to delete application data.
I'm not sure who are you talking to here. Are you asking the forum mods/admin to help you submit a request to the Play Store etc to delist it? I think you'll find better luck by posting it on other social media like Reddit. You can make a new thread if you need more votes instead of bumping this one too, since the topic is quite different already.

Alternatively, just follow what has been suggested above. A member already made a thread against them so you can simply support them.
476  Economy / Economics / Re: Inventing a job is better than finding a job on: November 29, 2023, 12:43:49 AM
One pro is that it does not require investment of personal assets. You are working for an organization and you will get paid at the end of every month.
One could argue that what you need to get a chance to be hired is your investment. Money to register for a new school, buy books to improve yourself, get a certificate, etc. But yeah, there is no direct investment required most of the time. Some jobs don't require a high skill ceiling, but the payment and competition are insane. Probably just enough to get by without saving anything every month.

Personally, I'm trying to fund a business since I have some spare money. Finding the right people is quite difficult tho, since I need to consider how trustworthy they are. I'm thinking of running a franchise on my own but my personality and health condition are not suitable to do it right now. Hopefully, I can improve it soon so I can dabble in some business here and there.
477  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin's Impact on South Asian Economies. on: November 29, 2023, 12:27:47 AM
Here in our country, the majority of people are usually in civilized areas; only a few people know about Bitcoin or cryptocurrency in the provinces here, to be honest.
Are you referring to rural areas? I'm not surprised if people who live in the countryside don't know much about crypto, or even the latest tech in general. At the very least, in my region, those who live in rural areas don't really have any incentive to research more unless they want to increase their living condition. Most of them will move to the city though since the internet is not really good and quite expensive for them. Those who know Bitcoin without moving to a city are quite few, probably know from their family or friends from the city too.
478  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My encrypted private key touched iCloud on: November 28, 2023, 01:53:53 AM
Should I recreate a cold private key or my security was actually not too much compromised ?
Are you familiar with how some people lose their money even though it is stored in a cold wallet, and they claim they never store their private key online or something similar? I think you have a bigger risk compared to them, which for all we know probably make the same mistake as you did and simply forget them.

I remember julerz losing his campaign funds because his 'cold storage' was compromised and he needed to repay quite a huge sum. I don't think you want to experience the same thing, so you just do what others tell you.
479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Best wallet for Android? on: November 28, 2023, 01:42:51 AM
I heard safepal become open source but I cannot trust coin telegraph. Also, Guarda claims they are partially open source. Thanks for providing the link.
You can probably check their GitHub to see the code. As far as I know, they don't fully share their code. Firmware etc is yet open, although IIRC the news said that it is ongoing and should happen in the fourth quarter. Heck, even their X1 still has nothing on the repository albeit being called the culmination of their open-source motivation. I guess what they refer to open-source is entirely limited to their wallet suite, whatever that is.
480  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will transaction fees affect Bitcoin in the future? on: November 28, 2023, 01:22:07 AM
For now, a second layer seems to be the most viable option, though it kinda undermines miners whom are the primary workers of the chain as they receive less fees that doesn't incentivize them to continue running their machines.
If I'm not wrong, some side-chain proposals suggest merge mining where miners will also earn their coins/tokens when they participate in their chain. Basically, miners will earn their BTC fees plus the side-chain tokens to incentivize their participation. However, I'm not sure how quickly this will run into the same bottleneck unless they use a different algorithm for the blockchain.

Personally, I think we can take time and see which solution provides the best answer. While the recent spam on the network due to NFTs causes some spikes, it won't last long, just like what had happened in the past. Maybe it will be such a headache in the next 5-10 years so.
