Awesome setup. I always like custom power distribution, it's the extra mile that most people don't bother with.
1082  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5970 getting 'sick' and dying after 10 minutes of mining. on: July 02, 2012, 12:32:01 PM
A cap falling off or being removed might not result in immediate damage, but the one you pointed out is in the power regulation section of the card, on one of the power phases. I wouldn't be surprised if it was crashing due to unsteady regulation or spikes.
1083  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [Conspiracy theory] Have blocks of bitcoin a second purpose? on: July 02, 2012, 01:01:08 AM
The only conspiracy that can result from bitcoin mining would be a pool mod that really works for the NSA, GRU or some other 3 letter organization, which siphons off hashing power for some other nefarious purpose, sort of like cracking whirlpool passwords using oclhashcat.
That would require software support from all the miners...

What the fuck? I just skimmed way too many pages in this thread, and here is a graphic to express what I am feeling:

Maybe it's just a hunch, or intuition let's call it, but who wants to be that ridgemont4 is nothing more than a clone of that asshole scammer newdude?

Looks like he has successfully started a thread that does nothing more than let him raise his post count. And as we know, that was the modus operandi of him and his followers. Most of what he is saying is contradicting other things that he is saying, FWIW.

1086  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Buried Keys on: June 30, 2012, 03:02:27 AM
Do the answers comprise a private key somehow? Or do they just need to be submitted to you to be verified as accurate?
EDIT: I just re-read the OP, so I guess the answers do need to make a private key. Beats me where to get started though.

For the Bible section, a little Googling and theological know-how has gotten me about 10 answers that I am fairly certain are correct, 3 more that are uncertain, and 2 that I have not yet figured out.

Please do not post his dox. He may be a POS thief who has no qualm stealing from people, but we should respect his privacy.
A thief deserves privacy?

Except that anyone can cash you out which is sub optimal...

quite sub optimal. Please change this.

I have changed my mind on this. Please leave the system exactly the way it is.  Grin
You like getting little micropayments occasionally?

Or did you decide that it wasn't a risk since the address couldn't be changed?
1090  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much book keeping do you guys do? on: June 29, 2012, 09:37:01 PM
NONE. Cant be bothered to create another way to have every transaction I ever did exposed. Bad enough the client keeps that info in the wallet.
lol

You realize that every single bitcoin transaction of yours is public, right? And everyone that has the Satoshi client also has a complete database of any and all bitcoin transactions ever made.
1091  Economy / Marketplace / Re: ["WAIT LIST"] BFL Mini-Rig Order Date/Ship Date on: June 29, 2012, 09:34:04 PM
Don't know about the rest of you but I can produce receipts for $50 purchases within minutes let alone a supposed $60k purchase.
lol anal retentive unrepentant miser. So you think that the things in the photographs are cardboard mockups? Or what? Next thing you will tell us is that UFOs are real because you have a receipt for one. Grin

Is it wrong that the below image is what came to my mind first when I saw Bitcoin and Trip in the same word/sentence?

Bitcoin is backed by the full faith and credit of the people that use it! Grin

Something like this sounds like it would be excellent. I have also been struggling with accounting (though I only have to handle personal stuff); the best I could do for now is Excel to track my investments and a (poor) attempt at using gnucash to keep track of cashflow.

If you need to do personal I use mint.com it is the best and I don't think they had any major security breach, may we all should appeal to them to accept bitcoin transactions tracking but I don't it since the parent company to them is the same ones that make quickbooks so I doubt they added in bitcoins.
+1. They actually were purchased by Intuit, and the site was a bit better previously without all the affiliates and advertising junk, but it does work quite well.

Detriot is a RIOT! Grin

Housing is coming back there, you can get some dirt-cheap deals. Also, Woodward cruise every year.  Cool

1098  Other / Meta / Re: WTF? Theymos, can I buy you a testing environment? on: June 29, 2012, 05:52:34 PM
On this topic, I just wanted to make sure there are regular db backups to an offsite location?

You can use something like this one:
http://hex.ro/wp/projects/java-smf-backup/

I found it clunky to use, but it gets the job done.
Yes I think there are backups already, that's why the forum freezes for 2-3 minutes every single night at 11:10 PM eastern time.
1099  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did you first hear about Bitcoin? on: June 29, 2012, 02:56:03 PM
I see that there was possibility to include message with transaction. What happened to that?

Would probably be abused and spam and bloat up the blockchain right?

This can be easily countered with length restriction.
The message option was only available when sending via IP address, and was never stored in the blockchain. When the send to IP functionality was removed, the messaging system went with it.

Damn, submarine cable breakage is no joke, it's going to be expensive to fix. Whose backhaul was it, Clipse? It looks like there is only one cable on the west side of Africa currently (the SAT-3), but two more are scheduled to come online sometime in 2012.
