I guess that I have announced the launch of the crowdfunding campaign too early. The site and everything is all ready for launch, however I am having issues setting up the Bitcoin payment gateway into the site. Because of this, I have not been able to publish the crowdfund yet, but I hope to have all this sorted out during this week. It should take no more than 3 to 4 days. Sorry for any inconvenience. 

Maybe it is because Bitcoin had a very bad reputation from all the scams that have happened, including the issues with the old defunct exchange Mt. Gox. But considering it is the pioneer of the blockchain technology, I wonder why Microsoft is avoiding Bitcoin? No matter what happened into Bitcoin (like Mt. Gox) the past is the past and it is important to look what Bitcoin could become in the future from now (in my opinion) 

This is very positive news. Since Emercoin was released, I was driven by its innovative technology that includes a combination of both Namecoin and Peercoin which makes it pretty interesting. However, I did not invest too much into it thinking that it will take too long for price to go upwards. But seeing this, makes me want to invest more into it right now. 

I just wonder why Microsoft has been using different technologies from different cryptos such as Ripple, Ethereum, Factom and now Emercoin instead of Bitcoin?

As manager of the MonetaryUnit cloud mining service (or MUECloud), I would like to announce that the crowdfunding campaign is about to begin. The final steps are being made by preparing the design and functionality of the crowdfunding page for users to donate funds. For the crowdfunding, we will be accepting BTC or even Paypal (can also pay with credit/debit cards) as payment methods. We could add MUE as an accepted payment method, but due to the fact that it is not accepted yet by most merchants, makes it somewhat difficult to use those funds directly from raised MUE funds and buy mining equipment (and exchanging MUE to BTC or fiat is not ideal due to exchange fees and such)

However, when the crowdfunding would be over and we will officially launch our cloud mining service, we will gladly accept MUE or BTC as payment methods to purchase mining hashpower. You will also get the ability to receive earnings from mining hardware either in BTC or in MUE. If you choose to receive your earnings in MUE, you will get an additional bonus (around 10 to 12% more).

Great! Thanks for the information. The part of configuring the Raspberry Pi for machines outside my local network, was the thing that I really wanted to know. Just for curiosity, since the assigned ISP address could change from time, it is recommended to use a dynamic dns service. However, I am not sure if this could really work with the MUE node configuration. Let's say I link an ISP assigned address such as 0.0.0.0 to a dynamic dns service which gives me a domain such as: test.mydomain.com   Can I place that into the config file next to addnode, or does it has to be specifically an IP address? 

I was thinking the same way, in fact I thought that instead of having a Bitcoin bank in the future, there could be a place full of Bitcoin nodes (similar like a data center) which could server its purpose to maintain the blockchain. This would probably be called a Bitcoin Center instead. 

And the best thing about investing into Bitcoin is that once the price goes up, you will earn a lot more interest than you would do by putting your money into a savings account in a bank which pays you very low interest rates. One interesting event will the Bitcoin's block halving this year, and if price goes up as speculated then your earnings will multiply tenfold. That is why it is good to invest into Bitcoin right now at these prices. 

Those are among the few things that I have been thinking to make Mooncoin better. I know that it has a good community but it lacks development (if I'm correct) I mean is the dev really active or is Mooncoin being actively developed and maintained by its community? In my opinion, I think it is not bad to make Mooncoin a PoS coin. I would be staking them a lot (since they are easier to get due to their extreme cheapness) 

Great! But if it does not work for you, you can always convert the installer into a portable application by using a program called Cameyo for Windows. I have tried it with several programs, including games and they have worked like a charm with this useful program. You should try it out! 

Placing QT wallets on OneDrive is a clever idea. About placing the wallet.dat directly into OneDrive is not safe, but you can make it safe by using TrueCrypt or VeraCrypt to make an encrypted file container and place your wallet.dat there. The safest way for encryption would be using a password with at least 60 characters of length (you can use password generator for this) and also a keyfile (any file that could be used as a token to unlock your encrypted file container) for maximum security. I have done this with most of my wallet.dat files and they are safely encrypted on that file container within the cloud storage service (such as OneDrive or Dropbox). 

Thanks for your reply. I will check this out, especially the first line with the ip address of my laptop. I was thinking of placing 0.0.0.0 instead to allow connections from any device, if that is ok. If this works, I will be able to make a Burst service out of it.   

In the nxt-default.properties file located in the conf directory, all I can see is the following line of code:


Is that the line where I should modify it to allow connections from other devices? If so, then I would place the ip address of an specific device there, next to localhost? Am I right? 

Does anyone know if it is possible to make Burst wallet accessible on any device? Let's say I want to see the Burst wallet/client on another computer remotely...can I do that? I might not know much about networking, but if I could access the wallet via localhost, then it could be configured to be accessed remotely right? Sorry for asking, just wanted to know if it could be done and if its safe to do so. 

To be honest with you, I have never tried lending my Bitcoins yet, but as far as I have read from others experiences it is close to 2%. You can also specify which rate it will be when making a loan offer (in this case in Poloniex) And for the savings account, with Magnr you will get 2.35% APR 

This is a very useful feature of the NXT platform. NXT sure has some good developments going on, but sometimes I wonder why price is so cheap when compared to other crypto 2.0 I think that the best crypto 2.0 out there are none other than Ripple, Ethereum and NXT. If big companies get to invest into of these crypto currencies, then we might be able to see a positive trend in probable Bitcoin replacements. All of them have great and better technologies than Bitcoin, but still Bitcoin remains at the top being the pioneer of the Blockchain technology. 

I have invested a lot into those mentioned cryptos by the way, hoping to gain profits once they rise both in price and demand. 

In my opinion, most alt coins are not even worth it at all due to the fact that the most of them are just pump and dump scams. As you could see, not even Litecoin proves to be a good alt coin (it has no innovation at all and it is about to die) but among the list of alt coins that will probably survive for long term and might be profitable in the future, I think Ripple and Ethereum are the right choice. Just look at the news and see why Microsoft has been using Ripple's Interledger Protocol for his BaaS (Blockchain as a Service) and Ethereum for its Azure Platform. That can only mean one thing, and that is either Ripple or Ethereum might replace Bitcoin in the future. Just sharing my thoughts. 

I have been using Genesis Mining for quite some time now and everything seems to be legit (at least). For several weeks, I have gone into mining with them by purchasing a 1.5 mh/s X11 contract. Just to be safe, I have invested a minimal amount, but as soon as I get ROI (if I did), then I will upgrade my hashrate. Does anybody know how long it would take approximately to reach ROI with a 1 year contract of x11 mining algorithm? 

That is certainly true, but there is a way that you could grow your coins even when holding. You could try lending your Bitcoins at Poloniex exchange or hold them in a savings account such as Magnr that would generate interest over time. So far, this have worked a lot for me, but at times it could be risky as well.
