11361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MonetaryUnit [MUE] Quark based, CPU mining, faucet, explorer, pool, wallet on: January 09, 2016, 08:41:36 PM

Hi,yeah we have loads going on.

www.muecloud.xyz crowd funding starts this weekend I believe

As manager of the MonetaryUnit cloud mining service (or MUECloud), I would like to announce that the crowdfunding campaign is about to begin. The final steps are being made by preparing the design and functionality of the crowdfunding page for users to donate funds. Investors will get the chance to qualify for 3 months of free cloud mining and/or the ability to receive exclusive discounts when purchasing any amount of hashrate.

For the crowdfunding, we will be accepting BTC or even Paypal (can also pay with credit/debit cards) as payment methods. We could add MUE as an accepted payment method, but due to the fact that it is not accepted yet by most merchants, makes it somewhat difficult to use those funds directly from raised MUE funds and buy mining equipment (and exchanging MUE to BTC or fiat is not ideal due to exchange fees and such)

However, when the crowdfunding would be over and we will officially launch our cloud mining service, we will gladly accept MUE or BTC as payment methods to purchase mining hashpower. You will also get the ability to receive earnings from mining hardware either in BTC or in MUE. If you choose to receive your earnings in MUE, you will get an additional bonus (around 10 to 12% more).

In the meantime, if you choose to visit the site (http://muecloud.xyz) you will not see anything yet, as I am busy working with the crowdfunding page.  Grin

I have received my payment from signature campaign, once again! Got the Bitcoin into my wallet just in time. Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it!  Cheesy

If your router is forwarding 29948 to your Pi, your other machines inside your network would use addnode=192.168.x.x (your local pi address)
Machines outside your local network (my Pi, for instance) would use addnode=x.x.x.x (your ISP assigned address) to connect to your Pi.

Great! Thanks for the information. The part of configuring the Raspberry Pi for machines outside my local network, was the thing that I really wanted to know. Just for curiosity, since the assigned ISP address could change from time, it is recommended to use a dynamic dns service. However, I am not sure if this could really work with the MUE node configuration. Let's say I link an ISP assigned address such as 0.0.0.0 to a dynamic dns service which gives me a domain such as: test.mydomain.com   Can I place that into the config file next to addnode, or does it has to be specifically an IP address?  Huh
11364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Bank??? on: January 09, 2016, 06:49:31 PM
Bank again? Just like the regular currencies need a bank? If we need bank than why we create Bitcoin?
Yup right. Why we need bank. Its a digital money We no need to manage any other organization. We can manage our wallet and Its better than bank You can see the transparent more than bank.

I was thinking the same way, in fact I thought that instead of having a Bitcoin bank in the future, there could be a place full of Bitcoin nodes (similar like a data center) which could server its purpose to maintain the blockchain. This would probably be called a Bitcoin Center instead.  Grin
11365  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it better to save money or invest it? on: January 09, 2016, 01:51:50 AM
For me it's better to invest now into bitcoin. Like you can see yesterday and today the bitcoin price keep increase and i think it's time to invest, because in 1 week maybe you can see the price will increase so high.

And the best thing about investing into Bitcoin is that once the price goes up, you will earn a lot more interest than you would do by putting your money into a savings account in a bank which pays you very low interest rates. One interesting event will the Bitcoin's block halving this year, and if price goes up as speculated then your earnings will multiply tenfold. That is why it is good to invest into Bitcoin right now at these prices.  Grin

I think that about 80 billions on  cryptsy are blocked, and only 10 billions available on bleutrade. if cryptsy closes I hope to release the private key...

Why don't people do a swap? MOON2? with the coins that are available on bluetrade.
Moon 2?

Too much coins... people are trading against LTC... reduce the number of coins, let it trade against BTC.. Get it listed on Poloniex or so, update the algorithm, make it all more interesting.

Those are among the few things that I have been thinking to make Mooncoin better. I know that it has a good community but it lacks development (if I'm correct) I mean is the dev really active or is Mooncoin being actively developed and maintained by its community? In my opinion, I think it is not bad to make Mooncoin a PoS coin. I would be staking them a lot (since they are easier to get due to their extreme cheapness)  Roll Eyes
11367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC] ♠ CasinoCoin v2.0 ♥ New Wallet ♦ 2+ Years Old ♣ on: January 08, 2016, 11:50:18 PM
Maybe two different wallet codebases should be maintained. One for the new version with the new features and other for the standard one based on bitcoin. I fear that the new feature rich client will require an installation program to operate and not be just a simple executable like the old version (and bitcoin). It is the reason I have yet to install the newer version of the CSC wallet and have no plans to do so if it requires an application installation.
Why would you not want to use an installer? I think 99% of the users prefer it as its the way they normally install software. Anyway, we could also just create a zip file that contains the extra Qt files and supply that as secondary install method, then you just unzip and run from the directory where you put it. A second codebase is not going to happen, at least i will not maintain that ...... for now the old wallet still works and i suspect that with the new additions i am currently developing it will all still be backwards compatible with the v1.3 wallet as well as we do not touch the blockchain itself, you will just be missing out on all the new v2.0 release features!

Also by having an installer for CasinoCoin, is doesn't make it portable right? Because in the old version, it was a standalone executable wallet (no installer) and I could put the same on my USB flash drive, and take it anywhere and it would open on any Windows PC. If the new one could also be like this, I think it would be pretty cool.  Smiley

Usually for QT clients that only have installers I have been able to install it using a burner system (VM) and then copy the resulting .exe in Program Files to my main computer. Haven't tried that with the new CSC QT but it might work...and if it does this whole conversation is moot...but the additions sounded like they needed an installer to work..so I brought it up.

Great! But if it does not work for you, you can always convert the installer into a portable application by using a program called Cameyo for Windows. I have tried it with several programs, including games and they have worked like a charm with this useful program. You should try it out!  Cheesy

That...and not everyone has the ability to install software on their computers.

I put all my QT wallets on OneDrive...that way I have access to all of them when I switch to a new computer....there are soooo many that having to install each one would not be something I would do. I switch computers a lot since I usually get the latest and greatest.

Also, doing an install makes it available to all users on the system. I have different user accounts for personal and business and do not want QT wallets showing up in my business account.

I don't put my wallet.dat files on one drive even though I have two factor...just in case. Tongue

Placing QT wallets on OneDrive is a clever idea. About placing the wallet.dat directly into OneDrive is not safe, but you can make it safe by using TrueCrypt or VeraCrypt to make an encrypted file container and place your wallet.dat there. The safest way for encryption would be using a password with at least 60 characters of length (you can use password generator for this) and also a keyfile (any file that could be used as a token to unlock your encrypted file container) for maximum security. I have done this with most of my wallet.dat files and they are safely encrypted on that file container within the cloud storage service (such as OneDrive or Dropbox).  Smiley

i do not have the computer with the wallet here, try with the 2 line here:

# Hosts from which to allow http/json API requests, if enabled.
nxt.allowedBotHosts=127.0.0.1; localhost; [0:0:0:0:0:0:0:1]; 192.168.0.4;

or

# Host interface on which to listen for http/json API request, default localhost only.
# Set to 0.0.0.0 to allow the API server to accept requests from all network interfaces.
nxt.apiServerHost=127.0.0.1

Thanks for your reply. I will check this out, especially the first line with the ip address of my laptop. I was thinking of placing 0.0.0.0 instead to allow connections from any device, if that is ok. If this works, I will be able to make a Burst service out of it.   Cheesy

Does anyone know if it is possible to make Burst wallet accessible on any device? Let's say I want to see the Burst wallet/client on another computer remotely...can I do that? I might not know much about networking, but if I could access the wallet via localhost, then it could be configured to be accessed remotely right? Sorry for asking, just wanted to know if it could be done and if its safe to do so.  Smiley

In conf file there is a line : # Hosts from which to allow http/json API requests, if enabled.

I hope its what you are looking for.

In the nxt-default.properties file located in the conf directory, all I can see is the following line of code:

Code:
# Hosts from which to allow http/json API requests, if enabled.
nxt.allowedBotHosts=127.0.0.1; localhost; [0:0:0:0:0:0:0:1];

Is that the line where I should modify it to allow connections from other devices? If so, then I would place the ip address of an specific device there, next to localhost? Am I right?  Huh

11372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: January 08, 2016, 07:28:28 PM
Buying and holding is the way i grow my bitcoins. There are options to earn as well but I find that kinda slow

As the bitcoin's price is rising nowadays holding the coins could be profitable method to growing up our bitcoins, you can also building your account in this forum and reaching good rank and joining the signature campaign there to make some extra income

Holding can't increase the quantity of your coins. Ups or down in the price, still the number of your coins will remain the same.

To really enjoy the price uptrend, increase your hold coins with any method you know.

That is certainly true, but there is a way that you could grow your coins even when holding. You could try lending your Bitcoins at Poloniex exchange or hold them in a savings account such as Magnr that would generate interest over time. So far, this have worked a lot for me, but at times it could be risky as well.  Smiley
I was not away that some exchanges offer interest on coins that are left in deposits, what kind of interest rates do they offer? I would assume something under 1%.

What about the loans, do you receive anything close to 2%, or is it considerably less? How do they maintain the integrity of the loans?

To be honest with you, I have never tried lending my Bitcoins yet, but as far as I have read from others experiences it is close to 2%. You can also specify which rate it will be when making a loan offer (in this case in Poloniex) And for the savings account, with Magnr you will get 2.35% APR  Grin
11373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The 2.0 throwdown thread on: January 08, 2016, 07:24:56 PM
Nxt now has the "Data Cloud" feature on mainnet (with NRS 1.7.3e).

This feature allows to upload lightweight data files directly to the blockchain. The files are also very easy to upload, download and search. As an example, this feature is perfect to put torrent files onto the blockchain.
https://nxtforum.org/nrs-releases/nrs-v1-7-3e/

This is a very useful feature of the NXT platform. NXT sure has some good developments going on, but sometimes I wonder why price is so cheap when compared to other crypto 2.0 I think that the best crypto 2.0 out there are none other than Ripple, Ethereum and NXT. If big companies get to invest into of these crypto currencies, then we might be able to see a positive trend in probable Bitcoin replacements. All of them have great and better technologies than Bitcoin, but still Bitcoin remains at the top being the pioneer of the Blockchain technology.  Cheesy

I have invested a lot into those mentioned cryptos by the way, hoping to gain profits once they rise both in price and demand.  Grin
11374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The best buy right now is not Bitcoin, it is ALTCOINS on: January 08, 2016, 07:03:59 PM
What about risks of 90%+ of altcoins which are doomed and have no way to recover because whales simply dumped all their holdings and newbies baghold them?

Low liquidity means extreme upside potential! Besides, Bitcoin went up so much exactly because bagholding aka HODL so I don't find your argument good enough to dismiss altcoin markets recovery.
I think my argument is very strong actually. Altcoins are worst than penny stock.

In my opinion, most alt coins are not even worth it at all due to the fact that the most of them are just pump and dump scams. As you could see, not even Litecoin proves to be a good alt coin (it has no innovation at all and it is about to die) but among the list of alt coins that will probably survive for long term and might be profitable in the future, I think Ripple and Ethereum are the right choice. Just look at the news and see why Microsoft has been using Ripple's Interledger Protocol for his BaaS (Blockchain as a Service) and Ethereum for its Azure Platform. That can only mean one thing, and that is either Ripple or Ethereum might replace Bitcoin in the future. Just sharing my thoughts.  Roll Eyes

I have been using Genesis Mining for quite some time now and everything seems to be legit (at least). For several weeks, I have gone into mining with them by purchasing a 1.5 mh/s X11 contract. Just to be safe, I have invested a minimal amount, but as soon as I get ROI (if I did), then I will upgrade my hashrate. Does anybody know how long it would take approximately to reach ROI with a 1 year contract of x11 mining algorithm?  Huh

Yes MUE poker chips from crypto chips.net are excellent quality and make it a good collection for crypto lovers. You can also purchase this as well as other chips using your MUE. As I can see, there are some pretty good markets for MUE in the list above. It is a good thing how everything is going on with the project and I have no doubt that it will get the attention it deserves.

As I said before, crowd funding will be expected to launch this weekend and depending if we reach our target goal of funds raised, it will either last a month or less.

About setting a full MUE node with the Raspberry Pi, is it necessary to open a port or make port forwarding on a router for it to work? Sorry, for asking but I am just starting to make my first node.  Smiley
Hmmm beyond my abilities unfortunately, hopefully this post will help?
http://www.monetaryunit.org/muestuff/run-a-full-monetaryunit-1-0-10-7-node-on-raspbian-4-1-7-v7/

Thanks for your reply. I have been using these instructions to set up the node on my Raspberry Pi, however it doesn't say anywhere that you need to open a port in the router, so I guess that it would work the way it says in the instructions. I will test it out and see if it works.  Cheesy

Is there any way to get faster sync rates? The maximum number of connections I get is 8.

Try turning off upnp and opening/forwarding port 29948 to your node. You can also use bootstrap located here.

Thanks for sharing this information. I should have the full node ready between this weekend and next week. About the ip address of the node (to be used in the config file with addnode=0.0.0.0) is it the same ip address of the Raspberry Pi, or does the server give you an specific one? Just asking, because once online I could provide the IP address for other peers to connect into.  Smiley

As usual,dev only silent

no answer to clarify

That usually happens with scam coins in which dev disappears and gives no answer at all, even if it says that he has been active today as per stated in the profile page. I will give Ambercoin until this month and if the dividends payment issue isn't sorted out already, I'm definitely out of this game. I am tired of waiting and not seeing real progress at all. By then, I will sell all my Ambercoin cheaper than exchange and company's prices.  Sad
