1141  Economy / Economics / Re: Portfolio on: May 13, 2018, 03:54:57 PM
How many cryptos should Ihave in my portfolio? Are there one recommended diversification ( like having 3 or 4 coins) ?

I do not like to invest in a number of coins because:

1) It consumes a lot of time and I have a full time job.

2) Most of the coins are dependent on the movement of bitcoins anyway.

My current portfolio has BTC, ETH, Ripple, Tron, Bitcoin Cash and EOS.
1142  Economy / Speculation / Re: Success of Bitcoin in April 18 on: May 13, 2018, 03:53:36 PM
In April, the bitcoin rate increased by 33%. This is the most successful month for the main crypto currency for the entire 2018 year.
How do you think  bitcoin will show higher growth in one month during 2018 or will April remain the most successful?

We will definitely see higher growth in the coming months. By the time we reach the end of this year, I expect this to go to  as much as 100% in some month most probably in November or December.

If you have some bitcoins lying in your wallet, you should remain invested for 2-3 years, it will easily reach $50000 mark in that much time.
1143  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the best safest way to keep bitcoins. on: May 13, 2018, 03:49:20 PM
Here are some tips to keep your btc safe:

1) You should use an offline wallet with keys secured at some safe place. If you are investing huge amount, use multiple physical wallets.

2) You should also consider splitting your investments through different exchanges to remain safe.
1144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you want to increase the price of Bitcoin then promote it everywhere around u on: May 13, 2018, 03:43:32 PM
In my opinion, we need more of offline promotion now. Most of the people who are active online are already aware about bitcoins.

To promote bitcoins offline using print and digital media, we may consider collecting funds (if that can be arranged in transparent manner) as it will not be cheap.
1145  Economy / Economics / Re: Increasing number of celebrities endorsing cryptocurrency on: May 13, 2018, 03:42:04 PM
Celebs have a lot of savings lying in their bank accounts which they can afford to take risks with. In my country, most of the celebs were already keeping all their savings in form of stocks of different companies , now some have also moved to crypto.
1146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Very Important Tips on Bitcoin on: May 13, 2018, 03:40:02 PM
I actually use these tips very often. I buy coins when there is crash and just put a sale order with 10-20% margin. That much growth is achieved in maximum 4-5 days and I think it is sufficient for me. With strong coins like BTC and ETH , I also have some investment left untouched for years.
1147  Economy / Economics / Re: A cryptocurrency with volatility can't be used as money on: May 13, 2018, 03:38:37 PM
I'm just reading an article in the newspaper. Klaus W. Wellershoff (a last chief in UBS Bank) says that's impossible to use a currency with volatility as money. If the value of the money decrease, that means the value of the merchandise decrease. For example : if you buy a flat with bitcoin and few years later the bitcoin value decrease... Your flat lose his value as well.

What do you think about this argument?

This is very much true, especially for low prices items like say $10 or below. If you are buying a newspaper for $1 per day tomorrow, will you agree to pay $2 for it next day because bitcoin prices just jumped.

It might not look that big with one time purchases but will  have a huge effect on common or daily expenses like that on transport.
1148  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the basis of bitcoin? on: May 13, 2018, 03:36:42 PM
Bitcoin is a new technology we've never seen before, Bitcoin allows you to move money, Bitcoin is a payment system, same as a bank or credit card transfer method, a payment method or value transfer that is independent of government authorities such as a central bank that traditionally controls the amount money supply and currency availability in the global market and Bitcoin slightly better.

It was designed to be  a payment system but current situation is quite different. People are treating it just as an investment option to make money.

This results in a scenario where every one wants to accumulate as many bitcoins as he can and does not like to pay using it.
1149  Other / Archival / Re: How to earn altcoin every days? on: May 12, 2018, 05:13:17 PM
There are many ways people earning in altcoin in regular basis. What is your methods for earning in altcoin?

Trading?
Airdrop?
Bounty?
Others?

I am currently involved with trading only. Regarding bounties, I think they are good only for new investors. I do not like the idea of participating in airdrops also as most of these do not pay anything these days. I do not have that much time left after my job to even complete all requirements for these airdrops.
1150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Learning Cryptocurrency in Universities? on: May 12, 2018, 04:44:16 PM
The crypto industry is not so stable and not so durable to teach it. Perhaps you can talk about it in the lessons of the economy, but no more. There is not much reliable information. Need time.

Very good point. Even if crypto is taught, the focus should be on block chain and how it can be used in other areas. If those students are able to use this technology and make life of people better, it would be really a boon for us.

If they are taught only about financial returns, it may affect their studies negatively.
1151  Other / Meta / Re: Send merit to friend, is that allowed?? on: May 12, 2018, 04:27:25 PM
There is no punishment for you if you send sMerits to your friends. I would like to emphasize that what you send is sMerits (sendable Merits), not Merits. However, you should send them to your friends' qualited-posts, because it is the main reason why merit system been launched, if not please send those sMerits to others in the forum who are deserved.

The merit system was created in order to stop spamming, shitty-posts; and to motivate users to contribute more constructive, higher-qualitied posts over time.

I think that is a member is sending merits to his friend even if he has made a good post, he can be in danger. This will not happen to old trusted new members but for new members, this might be ignored.

It is best to give merits to other people making quality posts. If your friends are making good posts, they will anyway get merits from other members.
1152  Other / Meta / Re: how you guys think about MERIT ? on: May 12, 2018, 04:25:50 PM
Merit is a good thing, this is important to quality our activity I think. Because Bitcoin players views as essential for all things.

Let's make quality posts and get Merit! Cheesy

What sort of post is this ? It clearly looks like some spun text posted out by some bot. We re talking about merits here and you cannot control the urge to make a shit post even here. Have some shame. Smiley
1153  Other / Meta / Re: Admins cleaning out the rubbish threads? on: May 12, 2018, 04:22:39 PM
It is really a good initiative. I think this is happening to all sections accept the meta section. We need a lot of fixing in this section as well like merging all the merit related discussions at one place. Also , repetitive discussions should be deleted.

Another requirement in meta section is that there should be a separate thread for account hacked complaints. It will keep all at one place and also help in faster resolution.
1154  Other / Meta / Re: What to do with such members ? on: May 07, 2018, 12:05:25 PM
What about this Full member? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1158644;sa=showPosts
I don't even know why he could achieve this rank within 3 months. Is he be considered shitposter? Because i can not even find one "good post" from his beginning posts. Huh

He became a Full member before the merit system. He has not received any merit from any member as showing in his merit summary :  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=1158644 . In other words, he got those merits by default as a reward for joining this forum early.
1155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Potential on: May 07, 2018, 12:01:03 PM
There is a lot of hype towards ethereum, so in your opinion is that a good time for holding this alt?

The value of my ETH has almost doubled in last 30 days. Bitcoin has given just bout 30 % returns during this period. So for future investments, I am thinking to buy more of ETH instead of bitcoins. If you are active as a freelancer, you must have seen that these days clients also want to pay in ETH only. This means that the demand and acceptance of ETH is on continuous rise.
1156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can we stop the “Pump and dump” campaigns? on: May 07, 2018, 11:57:21 AM
What are the best methods of protecting the community from these campaigns?

Reality is you cannot do much about it. I was reading the post of a project owner in an ANN thread how he mentioned that some big whales captured most of their coins in initial launch. So even the people owning the projects could not do anything about this.

However, you can keep yourself away from such projects. You can do so by investing only in top 5 or top 10 coins based on market cap. You can find such lists on sites like coinmarketcap.
1157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can FUD destroy bitcoin? on: May 07, 2018, 11:54:22 AM
How many FUD periods has btc survived? Countless! If anything, FUD will make it stronger and allow for better btc distribution. It will go from weak to strong hands, which is better for its future.

Very good point made here. I think this validates how beneficial or important block chain and crypto is for the society.

Bitcoin has survived so much FUD only because it has got some real benefits and usage. If it was really a bubble or ponzi scheme, it would have disappeared by now. Even some countries are impressed with its growth and planning to launch their own crypto.
1158  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are some of the best sources of information on Bitcoin? on: May 07, 2018, 11:46:50 AM
Working on a school project and I'd like some great resources to help me with it. Important information I'm looking for is the 'advantages and disadvantages of Bitcoin'. I would prefer credible resources which I can cite in the project, books are great if you know any.

You will not good books for this as most are just promoting their own affiliate links. If I was at your place, I would have collected this information from two sources. First is from online forums and sites like Reddit. Another option is to contact bitcoin users in your neighborhood and ask their opinion about the advantages and disadvantages.
1159  Other / Meta / What to do with such members ? on: May 07, 2018, 11:38:41 AM
Came across a member today

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1963859

Look at his posts :

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1963859;sa=showPosts

I have no issues if it is one liner or even few words but they are not even relevant. Completely done with some bot in my opinion. How to handle this now ?

1160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty and too many participants on: May 07, 2018, 11:31:32 AM
Really, the last six months, we big inflow of persons interested to participate in bounty - campaigns observes. The competition grows, among ICO projects more and more deception appears.
I think that in the future many bounty-managers will enter KYC for the projects and it will allow to eliminate robots.

KYC is not a good idea and even the adding has spoken against it. Even the crypto is essentially against this idea. This can be even dangerous for some members here to reveal their real identity as they are dealing with huge money or transactions on this forum itself under an anonymous name.
