A bank is only going to give you the Fiat value of the coin. Banks do not deal with the silver spot price.
The only way you would ever cash them in for the fiat face value would be if silver crashed to below $5/oz. ie - probably never.
Wait - so I go to a bank, and they'll give me $5 for a coin? Can I go to like a local silver dealer and sell it to them for the silver spot price instead? Overall, is that ebay link a good deal in terms of investment? That is actually a decent price, only about $2 more than at JM Bullion. If your trying to buy and sell them quickly, that probably wont happen, although theres lot of talk about global financial crisis sending PM's skyhigh. I think it is a possiblilty. But, if you are looking at silver, I'd say definitely stick with the government minted coins (Maples, Eagles, Philharmonics), they will always be easiest to sell if you need to, and will get you the best premium over spot. I'm not planning to sell them right after - maybe create a small collection, but if I were to really want to sell them, I want to make sure that I can get back most of my invested amount. So these coins, I could sell for over $100 USD right now, easily, correct? Definitely. At the very least you could get spot price, which right now is around $21, so about $105. But you should be able to always get at least some premium over spot for maples. Alright thanks And another question - would you guys suggest I get Canadian maples or American Eagles? I'm in Canada, so should I go with my country's legal tender instead? Or are the American Eagles a better deal? Maybe get some of each. Maple leaves do look very nice and are well known.

Received my coins. Here is a short review:
Shipping: Prompt and proper. Fair price, but unattractive for small overseas overseas. Packing: Very good. Bonus points for the coin-flaps with attached sleeves for keeping them closed. Metal: Visible scuffs and marks from minting/coating(?) process, very insignificant 2mm 'shiny spot' on rim in 1 out of my 5 coins Hologram: SUCH original, complicated and intense. Looks different from every angle. MUCH better in person then in a photo. Many holograms are not set perfectly straight to line up with the coins. Features rockets, moons, "To The Moon", "Original", "Crypto Imperator", and more. Public key: Comes folded to the coin flap (not touching coin), a slip of paper with slightly torn edges containing key and QR code. Coin number is not written on it, so don't mix them up!
WOW factor: Excellent hologram design, Quality product for a fair price.
Future improvements: -Have "Crypto Imperator Coin #xx" or such written on the public key slip. if nothing more, write the # on it in pen betide the QR code. -Set the holograms evenly so that the first bits appear evenly through the window.
Conclusion: This is a great coin and likely the beginning of a popular brand of physical doge and other coins, with the ideal market being beginners who are not yet willing to buy much more expensive coins. These don't compare to silver proofs, and should not be compared with them. At $10 + Doge, these are truly the most accessible physical crypto coins on the market. There is a bright future for Crypto Imperator.

This may be part myth, but my understanding is that a cool function of having a low monetary value to these coins is that they can never be confiscated by the government. For example; if they were to outlaw the owning of gold & silver bullion, those coins couldn't be taken since they are 'cash'. Similarly, you can often not cross borders easily if carrying over a certain amount of 'monetary instruments'. Lets assume you have 100 1oz gold coins with $50 face value. In reality you have over 100K of value, but are 'officially just carrying $5000 in cash.
Yes, the bank (or anyone else) would accept a gold $50 coin at face value, but youd be insane to give it to them (unless, gold fell below $50/oz).
On that note, I have some some $20 coins that are 7.5g of 999 silver. Im willing to sell them for BTC equivalent plus shipping.

yes minus TX fees and if you place a multi-coin order and back out of it a small 10% fee may be deducted as well, and if anyone has any ideas of playing the "oh the price of bitcoin went up so I'll cancel and re-order at lower price" game don't try because price will stay constant at 0.1BTC UNLESS the price of BTC breaks $1500 sorry to sound brusque but I am trying to keep shenanigans to a minimum.
very fair. My only concern is in the event we are at like 5k/btc at that time, many may want the 0.05 back instead of paying $500 for the coin If that is the case, consider me in for #94

1 question: is the 0.05BTC refundable if before it comes time to deliver, I decide I don't want the coin for some reason?

These 5 coins are as mint condition as any coins like this; they are taken directly off of an original Casascius hologram just prior to the photos.
EDIT: Whoops; I meant they are taken directly off the original Casascius roll, meaning they have never been circulated or handled improperly. The holograms that are included are generic

It's a rather odd feature to put on the coin. I don't agree with the decision.
Otherwise, nice looking coin!
Coins traditionally display history and significant events/things. the 51% issue is a significant thing in Bitcoin and is worth memorializing on a silver coin.

As much as I would like to buy more stuff for a decent price I think it is best to have this museum.
My thoughts exactly. If I were Dob Id sell off the doubles/multiples in order to raise the needed money/expand the collections. If the museum survives, i think it will also draw more donations of items in the future. as for those doubles; 10 1g Silver Bitcoin Round by Mjbmonetarymetals *Series 2* 10@0.04 each (0.4) 1 1g Silver Bitcoin Round by Mjbmonetarymetals *Series 1* 1@0.11

Minor question, I have friend interested in this, and he asked if the mining hardware you have for sale all has the capability to do mining currently.
He's new and doesn't have an account yet, so he's using me as a medium so he can get his questions answered.
And I might be editing my requested items, as there are some things that I'm gonna have to be changing for shipping purposes.
And do you escrow?
Ill take a shot at answering, please correct me if im wrong Dob. The mining hardware should all work like new, BUT the main idea of this is to be a historical museum, so the mining hardware is dated and likely more or less worthless for mining today. Dob is very well trusted and respected, so there would likely be no escrow option due to the circumstances and needing the money asap..
