Last round wasn't really exciting, but probably it wasn't worth to expect such things like we saw in Bundesliga today. Easy Porto and Benfica wins means that Benfica got trophy. Deserved it for whole season performance, but at one moment it really looked that they can bottle it. So, we didn't had changes in positions that matters. Worth to mention that Vitoria Guimaraes and Arouca goes to Conference league qualifiers, it was decided few rounds ago. Santa Clara and Pacos de Ferreira relegated, they will be replaced by Moirerense and Farense, while Maritimo will face Estrela in promotion/ relegation playoff. as expected from Porto, just after 2 minutes the Vitoria player received a red card and that was clearly a maneuver to ensure that Porto won this game with 100% certainty and they just had to wait for some problem in the Benfica game so that they lost the game against santa clara which didn't happen, even with all the cheating of porto this season benfica managed to be champion, but it was something that was very close to not being able to, but when porto becomes champion they tend to have a big difference of points to the point of not giving any space for their direct opponents such as Benfica and Sporting to be able to react, which makes Porto become champions in advance.
So, you want to say that this foul wasn't worth of red card? Don't know honestly, it's not 100% moment, but I've seen plenty of games where similar fouls and red card for it didn't raised any questions. |

C'mon, guys, where is comments about semifinals. It's really worth few words. I would call that Latvia against Canada was game of wasted opportunities. In 2nd period Latvia had powerplay 5 on 3, but didn't managed to make something dangerous. Few minutes later similar situation happened again, but then Bukarts got stupid penalty for boarding and it was just 4 on 3. In 3rd period Canada already dominated and there weren't many chances for Latvia.
Seems that my post about Germany didn't aged bad and they won against USA after extra time. Another great game and I think they have chances against Canada in the final. While USA probably is cursed in World Championships. No USA, Finland, Sweden or Switzerland in the final and only Canada reaching it almost each year. I'm not sure, does it shows that other countries improved or simply leaders aren't looking with right attituted into World Championship.

Last round was such roller coaster. I believed in Dortmund, but somewhere deep I had fears that they can bottle and it happened. Conceded 2 goals in 1st half, missed penalty and even after that they were still so close. It already looked that Koln - Bayern game will end 1:1, and that would be unbeleavable gift for Borussia, but Musiala scored late goal. They're lucky, because Bayern didn't played good game. Sad for such wasted opportunity, who knows when Borussia will have such chance next time.
Union got last spot in Champions league, while Freiburg lost their game against Eintracht.

Verstappen, which entered the last sector by 0.204, closed ahead by 0.084. I don't understand how he drove in that last sector without rubbing against the walls. 1-2 people have said that the last sector success was due to the car, but it has nothing to do with the car. In a normal race, only 0.3 can be won on a long straight. 0.3 in the last sector, 99% verstappen's driving. He approached the barriers more than anyone else and drove almost at the limits. It was a qualifying round that proved once again why Monaco is special. this is a circuit that really pushes the final limits of pilots, and it should stay on the calendar.
It was one of the best qualifying sessios recently. After 2 sectors it already looked that Alonso have pole in his hands. But then Verstappen did something unbeleavable. He didn't just hit the wall twice, but also he had lot of traffic in flying lap. Alonso did everything what he can, but it was simply impossible to do something against such Verstappen. And Perez crash, in Monaco it costs so much. Now it's impossible for him to fight for good points. |

Sporting ended their season with a difficult win in completely meaningless game against Vizela, despite that they let Vizela to score first. I had this game turned in on background and it wasn't most exciting game.
Tomorrow season will end and winner will be decided. But it's difficult to expect that Benfica will make gift to Porto. 1.06 odds for Benfica win against Santa Clara says a lot.

Amazing game by Latvia. I think they are on huge hype after beating Switzerland, so yesterday their team spirit was like 200%, and with support of fans (I've read that here were only about 500 Swedish fans), they have managed to create a miracle yesterday. That is their highest achievement in history. And it seems that tomorrow their luck will end, as they gonna face Canada, who already beat them 6-0. Also there will not much help from fans, as finals are going to be in Finland.
As much as I love Latvia, yeah, I don't see them making miracle against Canada. And they won't have 6th player anymore - their fans. I read that there will be only 500, maybe 1000 Latvia fans in Tampere. But still, they will have chance to fight for bronze medals, what would be amazing achievement for them. While I wouldn't be that much surprised if Germany will make an upset against USA. Germany had difficult start, but it seems that their game is improving while reaching late stages of tournament. |

Also, why nobody isn't paying attention to fight for last spot in Champions league between Union and Freiburg? IIRC, both teams never played in group stage of CL before. Union already had quite solid debut season in Europa league, so it would be interesting to see them in CL. And their chances looks better now as they're playing Werder at home, while Freiburg will face Eintracht away.

Watched round 2 yesterday of the F1 Academy and sort of enjoyed it but noticed the differences.
Such as their cars are smaller atleast they look like it while on the track. So they are like kart racers.
Also in the academy, once their car is damaged beyond repair they are out of the rest of the competition, since these races are done in succession all in the same day. Their budget would be alot less so repairing the cars to continue competing would be null.
Noticed Garica was the leader once round 2 ended on the standings.
They also made the introduction of the show just like the genuine F1 with the same music and everything.
Nice touch.
They're are using same car that is used in all F4 Regional championship. Between 2019 and 2022 there was W-Series and they used F3 car. W-Series didn't survived, so, I guess using chepaer and more simple F4 car is one of cost saving measuers. For me fact that F1 Academy don't have live broadcast and just provide 15 highlights from races says a lot. It's just not serious. In 2023 even karting race between kids have live broadcasts. Now there is no women who would be close to F1 and I don't see situation changing soon. These who would be good enough would race in F3 and F2, not separate series just for women. There was few competing there, but I can't remember someone who had really good results. Happy if I will be wrong, but now it looks that development driver is max what women can reach now in F1. |

Wow, what Latvia did is incredible. They were huge underdogs against Sweden, but managed to win with amazing support in Arena Riga. In 2nd period Sweden got 5 minutes power play, but even that didn't helped them to score. So, Latvia will play for medals for the first time ever, big congratulations to neighbours. It's only sad that championship leaves Riga, I think that fans were huge factor for Latvia that helped them.
They will face Canada in semifinal who won quite easy against Finland. It's also a bit unexpected, because Finland were favored a bit.
Germany made big upset by eliminating Switzerland. Germany hgad some bad luck in start of championship, loosing 3 games by 1 goal, but now they're looking very solid. Their opponents will be USA who didn't had big problems against Czechia. I saw interesting fact on Twitter that last time USA won World Championship only in 1933. I didn't believed until I checked myself.

I think that I quit betting on La Liga this season because it's simply getting ridiculous. The walking dead teams taking points from unmotivated teams from leading group. All 3 teams from relegation zone didn't lost in this round. Elche - they started to play when it's way too late as they already relegated maybe few months ago. After draw with Sevilla it's already 3rd game in a row for them without defeat.
Getafe achieved very important win against Betis and they're still alive. But it was such ugly game, there weren't much football.
And Atletico killed me. They were leading 3:0 against Espanyol with less than 30 minutes remaining and then let Espanyol to score 3 goals in a row without response and game ended 3:3. Ant way, it doesn't improve Espanyol situation much, it's still very complicated.

on the other hand, Ajax has a tough fixture as well, Twente will push to close regular season in good manner before play-off, due to secured 5th position

Valladolid managed to get 2-0 ahead against Barcelona in the first 20 minutes already. Despite its being only a prestige match for Barcelona it isn't a very surprising score as Valladolid are fighting to stay in the league. I wish I examined the standings more carefully before making a prediction in the pool.
This is something what I said in my previous post. Probably now it makes sense to bet against Barca, especially when they play against teams which fight for place in UEFA cups ar avoid relegation. Why this topic is so silent ? Nobody watches IIHF or likes ice hockey? Or current championship isnt interesting? Well you have missed some good games. For example do you know team Canada is in two looses streak right now ? Loss to Switzerland - this is accepted. And a loss to Norway. That is something unexpected. Two straight losses in prelims is rare for Canada. Also finishing on third place in group is something rare to see.
Yeah, surprised that there is no activity in this topic, last year much more people were posting about it. Well, maybe playoffs will bring more interest. In final day of group stage hosts Latvia jumped into playoffs after beating Switzerland in extra time. After Slovakia win Latvia needed point in this game, while win in extra time moves them to 3rd place already, while Czech Republic is just 4th. In other group game for 1st place between Sweden and USA also ended in extra time where USA won. While Slovenia and Hungary finished last and going down just after one year in top division. Great to see that Borussia done their job in recent round. Now their task in last round looks simple. They face Mainz which isn't easiest opponent, but they fight for nothing already.
