1181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be used by ordinary citizens? on: February 28, 2017, 06:27:41 PM
No. you must be an extraordinary person to use bitcoin, not just ordinary. It's in the code guys.  Cheesy

Code:
# include <iostream>
# include <algorithm>
# include <bitcoin_use>
int main() { if extraordinary = {1};
int count = (1) bitcoin_use printf "Yes, you can use bitcoin";
int count = (0) bitcoin_use printf "No, you can't use bitcoin";
}
1182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Community vote for bitcoin code ? on: February 27, 2017, 05:14:03 PM
I know the bitcoin foundation used https://consider.it/ software to help establish consensus on development.  It is a nice system for this task. I met with the developers in Portland a few years back. Good guys. It would be ideal if every stakeholder  had a vote on development.  But I'm not sure how to do it without cheating.
1183  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you beat the house edge on: February 27, 2017, 02:42:00 PM
It's called an edge because you can't predictably beat it. In fact it is logically predictable that the house is the likely winner of any bet. If you want to get rich in gambling you buy a casino, not put your money up for a likely loss.
Do you think everybody is rich enough to buy a casino ? lol Moreover,there wouldn't be any profits if everyone went around buying casinos.No,you cannot predict if the house is likely the winner of any bet.Provable betting system exists for a reason.

Maybe he's just illustrating that if someone wants to earn from gambling, instead of gambling against the casino, just make one. Because statistically, the casinos will win against every gambler gambling on the casinos.

That is what I mean. At a casino the house has to be the most likely winner. They are not playing a game like the casino patrons, they are working a mathematical system to win more often than anyone else. They may lose individual plays, they may pay out more to a specific gambler than they made, but over time and on average they will have a more or less predictable advantage on all bets. "Provable betting" shows all the math, but is in no way a level playing field. Gambling websites are making money not providing a free public gambling service.
1184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: price at all time high while utility at all time low on: February 27, 2017, 02:25:33 PM
Utility is high actually.  Bitcoin is the greatest payment system ever developed, however it is not being used as such. For everyone that spends bitcoin at a store many, many, outers just switch back and forth between BTC and local fiat. If we are speculating with bitcoin rather than using it as a currency then the project will develop accordingly. I would guess that at our current trajectory the cost of trading will soar to match trading in any currency. If you want something different then it's going to be your job to make it happen. Start spending your coin instead of selling it, start asking retailers to accept BTC.
1185  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Need some help with physical btc coins on: February 23, 2017, 03:29:45 PM
You will also want to look into the risks associated with physical coins. Bitcoin is extremely resistant to counterfeiting, coins are highly susceptible to it. Consider that it's all about protecting your private keys. Ask yourself "How will I be sure that I am the only person with this key?"

1187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: where can i buy and sell bitcoins at cheap cost on: February 23, 2017, 03:09:19 PM
For that kind of volume you may want a partner, perhaps a miner. Otherwise an exchange may be your best option. I would look for a legal business in your country to mitigate risk.

Ok, that makes sense. I just don't want you to get scammed.  Smiley
1189  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Online Store who accept bitcoin ?? on: February 23, 2017, 02:50:33 PM
There are many stores that take bitcoin. It's all I use to shop online. You do have to hunt around though. This may help.: http://spendbitcoins.com/
1190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I have found a wallet with 40 BTC on: February 22, 2017, 02:42:50 PM
Hi,
i have found a wallet with 40 BTC.
The last transaction was 2011.
Can i take the money?
Or is it not legal?
Please Help!

Best Regards!

You found the keys to a car. Can you take the car? Is it legal?

Don't be an idiot.  The money is yours.  It is not illegal to transfer bitcoin if you have the key to do it.  Having the key means it is your bitcoin.  Take it and transfer it to another address before another key holder does that.

Well that is obviously completely false.  Roll Eyes
1191  Economy / Speculation / Re: How Will It Affect The Bitcoin Price, If Satoshi Tell The Truth ? on: February 22, 2017, 02:40:28 PM
If Satoshi Nakamoto tell the mysterious truth about his Bitcoin and Blockchain invention and all the secrets to the media, how will it affect the Bitcoin Price ?
There is no secret in bitcoin.  Huh
It is open source and all code is available. Which is why we like open source software. If Satoshi chose to reveal him/herself, it would not change anything about how bitcoin functions. I think it would be foolish to re-value coins based on Satoshi.
1192  Economy / Speculation / Re: 11th March, SEC approve or not bitcoin in ETF on: February 20, 2017, 05:31:14 PM
If you want it to happen, this would be a good time to contact the SEC.

1194  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: do i have to pay tax on bitcoins ? on: February 16, 2017, 03:04:29 PM
The simple answer is no - in all countries that I know of.  However, you do need to pay transaction fees for miners.
The simple and complex answer is absolutely yes. There may be a few places like Dubai where you may not have to pay taxes. But almost every country in the world has a tax that covers bitcoin.   I don't know where people come up with this notion that bitcoin is not covered by tax law. Here in the U.S. all your money is taxable. If you found a dollar on the sidewalk you would owe tax on it. It's that simple, a gain in money triggers a taxable event.
1195  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to buy bitcoin without passport and videochat verification? on: February 15, 2017, 02:55:46 PM
The problem is with fiat not bitcoin. Try, for example, setting up a bank account without showing identity.
1196  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017/02/09] Chinese Central Bank Warns Bitcoin Exchanges, Again on: February 14, 2017, 07:02:39 PM
What do you mean governments are starting to recognize Bitcoin as a currency? They're starting to realize it as a threat to their national security is what it is. If you think BTC is going to become a legal currency, it's not. It's better that way.
I use bitcoin as legal currency all the time. Why I just bought a valentine present today, so I'm not sure what you mean?

Unfortunately, your use of bitcoin as legal currency does not make it legal. Government of a country must acknowledge it as legal tender for it to be counted as legal currency of that nation. So far, no country has done so. Hence, bitcoin is not legal currency anywhere on earth.

Though, it has been recognized as legal medium of exchange in many countries. So, as bitcoiner, it makes no difference to us.
In the U.S. "legal tender" has a very specific meaning. Bitcoin is absolutely legal to use as currency. But to be legal tender means that a business MUST accept it for all debts. That is quite different than the question of it's status as a currency.
1197  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is no longer a currency on: February 14, 2017, 02:52:20 PM
Except that it was designed as a currency and is being used as a currency more than ever.
1198  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Taxation on the alts on: February 13, 2017, 03:44:32 PM
The government has no control in bitcoin as well as the altcoins that's why there is no tax going on between them. If you're

referring to the fees it depnds on which exchange site you will use. There's still some speculations around the forum that the

government might put a tax on them in the future. But this will be difficult because as I have said they have no control about it so

the exchange sitea that are based on their country that trades cryptocurrenies will probably the ones going to be affected .
Nope.
At least in the USA, all profits are taxable. This is a fact and has been for many decades. Fail to pay capitol gains and you will be fined, could be jailed, plus you still owe the tax and interest. It is not up to the exchange to pay your taxes. It is up to you.

1200  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: make web wallet , just question on: February 10, 2017, 08:46:55 PM
Sites that allows us to create online web wallets have no future on the bitcoin world , I know that most of the people are using them right now but It's just a matter of time until people understand how insecure these wallets are and sadly , they are probably going to learn it the hard way , means after the wallet gets hacked.
That is basically what I think also. You introduce high risk into an extremely safe system by using online wallets. However web wallets may have limited use because they have some advantages. For example I only need to remember a password and a web site to access my money from anywhere. But storing any large amount in a web wallet is foolish because you must needlessly trust others.
