121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN: [OPAL] | POS | FILE SHARING IN BETA | HTML5 WALLET + STORE IN DEVELOPMENT on: November 12, 2014, 04:49:16 PM
700 sat for a coin with awsome development, active dev,15m coin and growin community.

People are mostly dumb when they can't wait Grin

Dev,we need a small ETA about future stuff when you get out the market to counter the ''buy on rumour, sell on news''  and keep this attractive Wink

thanks Smiley
I just think that people are generally stupid and are so hyped on the "buy on rumour, sell on news" concept that as soon as they see a slight price drop on a coin once the news comes out they panic! I'm still convinced that OPAL is a good strong long term hold coin and anyone who has the balls to hold it for the duration will be rewarded very kindly! And those who sell are gonna be thinking "Well I made 10$ trading my OPAL while the people who are in it long term will be laughing when they cash out in the thousands!! Wink Cheers everyone and Happy Trading today Smiley P.S - I mean 700 sats for a coin that has only 15 million!! Come on now folks that is a freaking steal of a deal!! Just wait and see when everything is said and done OPAL will easily be worth 5k a coin no problem Wink

i like stupid people on these markets. please dont speak about them in such a manner. am i bad for hoping they keep selling so i can get more for cheaper? lol

i think after checking out this project im actually impressed. nice job Opal team. this coin deserves more investor attention.

Glad to hear Bittrex are re-enabling trading, thanks for all the support @Richiela et al Smiley

If we can do a 50k "instamine" block to cover the exchange shortfalls etc, are any Spark holders going to complain? Best to say so now rather than moan about it later!

works for me. just make sure noone steals that block i guess.

125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [VIA] ★ Viacoin ★ ~ the future of digital currency ~ ★ on: October 31, 2014, 05:31:00 PM
ok guys i have a really simple question. havent really been following viacoin development or the thread. from the bits im scraping off the thread, all i want to know is..

will i be able to use viacoin to play zynga poker on facebook? and if so, how soon?

my crystal ball says... don't gamble money away!

are you kiddin? i can turn 6k into 3mill on zynga in a matter of hrs lol

but from the responses i just think this is all just talk. until zynga tweets about viacoin this is just hype.  Cool

Price going down and if you say something negative FUD...But you should believe that there working on projects for months now.  The only think I know being worked on is ArchCoin.  Talk is cheap if your working on something WHERE IS IT??

look at the launch date of vericoin. vericoin delivered some of the most exciting and useful technology to date and look its just a few months old. chill. if it's one thing these guys know their way around code. but i think their relationship with moolah and quite possible some investors negative feelings about the supernet may be to blame for the the slipping price. vericoin is still a strong and useful currency. just wait till the devs surprise us with something new and exciting. that's what investment is about. it's literally about 15btc across all the exchanges total to take us back to a $1m marketcap. i think its temporary. ive seen what these guys can do being here since launch and mining in pow. so im just gonna hang in there and wait to buy in at the bottom of this dip.
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SFR] SaffronCoin | Decentralized Exchange to release soon! on: October 31, 2014, 12:57:00 AM
I've never seen any other altcoin with so much feature that is so undervalued

indeed. ive been watching this coin since launch and wondering the same thing myself. what dont people like curry? lol
129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS-NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS | SuperNET Core on: October 31, 2014, 12:47:23 AM
submitted a vote to keep thread as it is. i believe btctalk is the place where every new crypto researcher finds themselves and each a potential vericoin investor. for vericoin visibility. what's all the fudding about though? did the devs abandon the roadmap? or do we just think theyre taking too long? either way, when they deliver again price will rise.

So, which fork is being chosen by this update?

the checkpoint is set to use the suchpool/nova fork with pos being initiated at block 10000.
131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Spark | X11 | BTer/Bittrex/C-CEX | PoW/PoS | Exchanges | Roadmap | on: October 30, 2014, 04:15:32 AM
sounds like you've gotten the chains to agree that they were both working with the 10000 setting. id say you've got the repairs under control. Good Show! pretty clear now i think. the 1.1.0  rejected POS from the 1.0.0 which was set at 10000. so the 1.1.0 was committed too late? lol
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Spark | X11 | BTer/Bittrex/C-CEX | PoW/PoS | Exchanges | Roadmap | on: October 30, 2014, 01:37:09 AM

"subver" : "/Spark:1.0.0/",  <-- should be an 1.0.0 client for now, the 1.1.0 is presumably a buggy linux client prone to take the bad fork...
"inbound" : false,
"startingheight" : 14144,
"banscore" : 0
}

I promissed a brief version -----------------v             Cheesy

not sure that's correct. 1.1.0 should be the client that reads the proper blockchain with the configuration correction for pos to begin after block 14400. the 1.0.0 was set to begin POS at block 1000 in error which was corrected later in 1.1.0. RentaMouse can confirm if i got that correct.
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Spark | X11 | BTer/Bittrex/C-CEX | PoW/PoS | Exchanges | Roadmap | on: October 29, 2014, 08:21:35 PM

well, I remember earlz actually pointing at the very same two possible pitfalls in his review...
as we're after pow, part of is not needed anymore anyway. good you fixed that first Smiley
https://github.com/Earlz/coinreviews/blob/master/sparkcoin.txt

when you say, you could would be able to compile the wallet and release a binary, what architecture do you have in mind...?
if you go for windows, that'd be the one with the most demand i guess, we are at most there Smiley

however, later I should have some time to clone this and try getting it compiled with VS on another maschine...
'at most very superficial' would be the most adequate description of my experience on bitcoin-n-clones-code, so to speak...
...yet, seems to be a good time to change that.

I'll do the revised Linux wallet update on my Github fork, dont see much need for a binary of that as most ppl will compile their own anyway. There's documentation on the Github repo for doing a MingW Windows compile so I should be able to do that, depends how many dependencies I have to bodge in to get it working but hopefully I can get it up on Github as a downloadable binary in a few hours.

edschroedinger - since you are already talking to Bittrex makes sense to keep on if you dont mind, I assume its easy for them to pull the timestamp of block 10041 and then see how many txes they processed after that. Just hope its not a lot....

I suspect Bter will be on the majority chain as they had a wallet up early, but if anyone wants to try contacting them please do.

i dont think there will be an issue with txes on their fork as users/pools on their fork would still be able to deposit. it's the users/pools on the good fork who wouldnt have been able to deposit.
134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Spark | X11 | BTer/Bittrex/C-CEX | PoW/PoS | Exchanges | Roadmap | on: October 29, 2014, 04:11:43 PM
Sorry, I probably didnt make it clear in my last post, but 10041 was the "bad" block, the forks appear to deviate after 10042, glad others corroborate that.

Unfortunately I think Bittrex are on the minority chain which we probably dont want to switch back to as the PoW phase isnt complete yet, and we'd have a load of miners upset about losing 4000 blocks worth of PoW mining. How that will affect Bittrex probably depends on how soon they suspended trading after block 10041

Unless someone comes up with a good reason not to I think I will see about releasing an updated wallet later that will definitely sync with the majority chain, as the current version on Github (and I assume the Windows download, I havent tested it yet) will not.

they probably suspended trading i think about 3hrs after i reported the problem. somewhere near block 10800. if noone has any objections RentaMouse you can go ahead and speak with bittrex as an official representative of the community. let them know what happened and why that chain cannot be repaired and let's see if we can get trading running again after they sync. i suspect that this all had something to do with why bittrex wallet kept getting corrupted when they first tried to implement it.
135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Spark | X11 | BTer/Bittrex/C-CEX | PoW/PoS | Exchanges | Roadmap | on: October 29, 2014, 02:59:40 PM
...we're moving forward Smiley

got response from bittrex (yet I won't get into much research myself today due to a great lack of time):

Quote
The best way for this to happen would be for the coin to come up on our same fork. We won't know how many coins we are short until the new wallet is up and we can see/process deposits/withdraws.

Have you found out at which block the fork happened? If we could find the first block where the blockhashes don't match we may be able to better determine how many deposits we have that would need invalidated.

well, now there's TWO questions to focus upon:

1st: when exactly did the chains start deviating... suchpool states 10042 and looking at the remarkable drop in network strength at that very time it must be exactly that block or just a few blocks earlier or later.

which opens up

2nd: who (apart from bittrex aparently) stayed on the other fork after around block 10042.
that might be folks that e.g. mined on hashhot and were able to withdraw from there, as hashot seems to as well become stuck on that other fork.

and - following my impression - the stronger chainfork after the split looks to me like it's the on suprnova, suchpool, ipominer locked as well (even the official blockchain explorer cannot access it's own wallet, yet it shows the current blockcount and time of even that fork) and it also seems to be the fork, the wallet syncs if going online ... but as I stayed in sync whith that fork only the whole time over, I'm completely unaware about any other forks possible stats.

so:

  • after finding the EXACT first block with the chain beeing split
we need to find out:
  • who went on on the 'dominant' chain (eg. suchpool, ipominer, suprnova in order of beeing open for mining. network still working fine to date)
  • who is stuck on another chain (probably not reached 14400 and so should be unavailable by now)

to eventually vote a chain and see, how much and how to compensate losses.

so, ok... I'm looking back in later, already way overdue Cheesy

will get to c-cex, bter and vaultex later to get some info about their status with SPARK so we keep the thing coordinated...

i would say it was indeed around 10042. i was monitoring the entire network and basically witnessed the fork. getting on the bittrex fork is not possible due to the invalid block on that fork which was most likely a result of 51% attack or POS staking beginning early on some wallet. both reasons mean that the invalid fork with the invalid block at 10042 cannot be used or repaired due to blockchain encryption. attempting to repair it is like trying to hack the blockchain which will not be possible. there will be only 2 options.

repair the github and rollback the blockchain to block 1000 (will not sit well with anyone)
discard the illegal fork and move forward with our current pos network.

the working fork has no corrupt blocks and you cant patch a corrupt block to move forward. it means that the working fork as i said from the start is the only legitimate fork. and that is the suchpool/supernova fork.

what you guys think? looks like a dev that can deliver and actually write code.

bye

dev was just in IRC earlier - he is working hard with exchanges to fix it. lets not all jump to conclusions

Good to know.  For those that don't visit the IRC, it would be nice if he could make an appearance here to shed some light on what he's found out and to let the masses know he's working and hasn't abandoned the coin.  Because I think most of us are leaning in the direction of abandonment.  Such is crypto.

ive been in the irc channel constantly and the dev hasnt even logged in and joined the channel in at least 24hrs. i have no logs for getspark. if we dont hear form the dev in the next few hrs im abandoning this coin. i should just do so now because this dev has proven already to be unreliable and have his priorities elsewhere.
