121  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos after the shutdowns of mixers on: December 06, 2023, 11:51:35 PM
The answer: more stringent KYC.

Is that right? Yes. Casinos are not designed for people to try and achieve privacy. By going to a casino with the primary and only intention to achieve privacy, fill in the blanks. It's not compliant.
Exactly, this is the argument that I've been looking for in a long time and I can't put it into words so thank you! Crypto casinos are not mixers that you don't have to identify yourself to use their services, they're an entertainment industry with the goal of having to milk as much money from you as possible and it's strange that people want this type of privacy casino like what? You're only playing with slotss and most of the names that you use in these sites are just usernames, it's not like they're forcing you to use your real name and most of the time, the KYC information that they've got of you is private and can't be viewed by other people checking your profile anyway.
122  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Do You Convince Someone On Something That Will Not Work on: December 06, 2023, 11:29:42 PM
You said that your friend has been successful with his run with that Martingale strategy which means that even if you try to convince him, you'll probably going to fail because he's got a bias that it's effective to him and that he might argue that he might be an exception to the rule, have you seen it for yourself OP? That your friend is winning a lot of money because if not then there's the possibility that he's lying because if I win something big like tripling my bankroll, I would probably screenshot that to capture the moment right? But that lying part is just a possibility, I don't think that it's your duty to convince that friend to stop them from doing something that's worked for them anyways, I say that let him find out the hard way.
123  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What I learnt from a crackhead about gambling on: December 06, 2023, 05:02:44 PM
No doubt that's both drug and gambling addict are all bad, but if am to differentiate from both addiction, I think I will say that gambling addict are way better off that drug addict and trust me, I have seen both addicts up close as my locality is filled with both types of addict and sometimes I wonder what's been done to even tackle the issue and the most surprising part is that most of this addict are a comparison of both types which is drug and aslo a core drug abuse and believe this combination is way deadly than anything you can think of.
We don't really have to choose which addiction is the worst of the two, addiction isn't something to be taken lightly depending on how we perceive the degree that it destroys someone on a physical and mental level because all addictions are a bad thing that needs addressing and all of them deserve the same type of help. Seeing people telling that one addiction is worse than the other or vice versa is upsetting to me because we're putting a lower priority on the other addicts because we keep doing this kind of classification. Regards to what they do with this issue, it's basically nothing because no one's making significant changes to stuff in any countries out there and a lot of people still think that they don't deserve help or to go back to the society as a productive member of it, we don't like to admit it but we're all thinking it, that we should not help these addicts to go back, if there's any measure created to deal with this issue then we would've seen the effects already.
124  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you deal with high transaction fee on BTC on gambling? on: December 06, 2023, 04:25:23 PM
I used to gamble on some casinos that have zero confirmation but didn't last long there, have a hard time seeing myself spending bitcoin to gamble when I almost always lose when I gamble. Best decision I did is just to switch to an altcoin so it's not that difficult when I deal with transactions, Litecoin's probably the best altcoin to use for gambling but that's just my opinion, some people are using other altcoins but for me it works just fine.
125  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do not gamble with Loan Money~otherwise you will be in danger like me on: December 05, 2023, 04:59:38 PM
This is too sad news op. why you did it? Gambling with loan money is double risky then gamble with your own money. if you loss your own money then You may suffer but there will be no pressure to repay the loan. if you gamble with the loan and lose it then you lose money and on the other hand you have to repay the loan by earning money from another source. you have taken a big risk, if you win the gambling then your loss might be recovered but because of the loss you have to repay the loan which is a lot of trouble. And not only the principal amount but also the interest has to be paid. After that gamble according to your ability sometime.  Stay away from activities like gambling with loan
You don't need to ask why OP did it, it's obvious that OP got addicted to gambling, I mean that's the only option as to why OP got in this pickle, no way that a healthy person could get to this level of depravity in gambling. I think OP gets the consequences of his/her actions, pretty sure that this is a cautionary tale to what gambling addiction does to someone financially, mentally and physically.
126  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do You Include Or Always Include Gambling In Your New Year's Resolution on: December 05, 2023, 03:53:11 PM
I don't have any plans related to gambling because for me, gambling is just entertainment, and I don't need to be too serious about gambling. I better make a plan of what I will do in the next year and try to achieve it. Gambling is not a lifestyle that must be done continuously, especially if it is to make money from gambling. That is inappropriate thinking because we will not be able to make money easily from gambling. But I will probably still gamble as usual, and I will try to limit my gambling activities as before. And I think I've done well this year, so I'll still do the same thing.
Me too although I have a more no New Year's resolution approach rather than only just about gambling, I feel like those resolutions are bound to be unfulfilled or broken at the first month or two of the New Year so I just stopped doing it altogether and just go for what I want to do, no more promising myself that I would do this, I just do it. Gambling would still probably a thing for me but as soon as my career improves and I make more money and can't afford to spend more time for leisure, I'll probably get less and less plays gambling but who cares? I might've subconsciously created a resolution that I would limit if not stop my gambling altogether and I just don't know it yet.
127  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Importance of Gambling to the society on: December 05, 2023, 02:49:50 PM
Gambling is important to the society because it provides huge taxes that government use on hospitals, infrastructure and other projects to help its citizens. Monacco country is popular with their casino but they don't allow its citizen to play. This shows how important gambling in their country because they still allowed to operate it even though they don't want citizens to be involved.
There are other avenues that a government can get more taxes, it just happens that gambling is a lucrative business so they tax them heavier in some countries but they're not a big loss in taxes being collected by the government and it's likely that a lot of these gambling businesses you're talking about are probably lobbying to get some tax write offs anyway so they don't have to pay a lot of tax so the argument that they generate large amount of taxes isn't fairly accurate.
In our country, Our lottery use the proceeds to donate on the health center that provides free health service to our citizens.
How are you so sure that that's where the money goes, I don't know where you're from but the money that's not claimed because there's no winners are have no public record of where it goes and lottery is the way the government taxes the poor so technically the welfare that they're "providing" is just their own money cycling back to them.
128  Economy / Gambling / Re: Slot Educational on: December 05, 2023, 01:34:17 PM
do you think, a parade like this will be effective in reducing the level of gambling addiction?
I don't think that it's going to be a no for me, parades definitely attracts people but the last thing that they're going to care about is the message that the parade delivers about stuff and in this case which is gambling addiction, they're better off doing this kind of stuff creating a TV show, look at Breaking Bad and other police dramas, they've somehow affected a certain percentage of the population about how they perceive police.
Reminds me of the food adverts in which governments with very limited budgets try to get just simple ideas in the mind of people such as the "five a day" while massive corporations with endless resources put add after add about doughnuts and countless money into making people believe that cereals are actually healthy and eating avocado is somehow "detox". Same here.
That's been a crazy trend for a long time already, corporations sponsoring researchers to create a biased and manufactured research results to further improve their sales. Dairy companies are the most notorious that I can think of that's been doing these stuff that you're talking about especially with the effects of drinking a cow's milk, another one that I've remembered is Gatorade sponsoring research about dehydration and how dangerous it is.
129  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First Bitcoin Bar in Sofia, Bulgaria looks Interesting on: December 05, 2023, 12:41:31 PM
Criminal rate in this bar *stonks.

I imagine what if there's an innocent who doesn't even have Bitcoin going to this bar and he become a target of $5 wrench attack, the criminal will not believe if this guy is really don't have any Bitcoin lol. The criminal might kill him since they think he's lying in order to protect his coins, so it's really dangerous to any person.
This is my first thought but if you think about it, investment bankers frequent on bars too and the workers know they have the money so I don't think that it's going to be that bad for these bar to operate with a bitcoin theme plus, there's going to be an increased police presence in that area anyway so maybe me and you are just the half glass empty kind of guys. Now that I think about it, this could be a good place for meet ups or for developers to find potential business partnership or other business stuff.
130  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Parental Guild on Bitcoin on: December 05, 2023, 12:02:08 PM
Is buying Bitcoin or cryptocurrency good for Kids?
It's a good thing, bitcoin is an investment and you are supposed to put some money for your kids and what better way for them to have a savings than having their own bitcoin, the way that bitcoin appreciates is something that any parents should look out for in terms of creating a savings for their kids. @LoyceV got a donation link for his kids in his other account if I recall so the only caveat is that the kids don't have to handle bitcoin right now when they're young.
How do you teach a kid to secure Bitcoin incase you are not there?
I don't think that it's something that they have to worry about to be honest, I feel like bitcoin security or even the introduction to it should be around the time that they can independently navigate computers, a little here and there lessons in cyber safety could go a long way but putting them straight up when they should be playing or doing kid stuff.
Should authorities or agencies place age restriction on owning Bitcoin?
If it's me, it's not the right thing to do but we can see why they want to put some restrictions, it involves money after all and it also helps that there's no way that an incident where a kid accidentally trades or gives away bitcoins if there are restrictions.
131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop Saving Your Bitcoin (and other crypto) Addresses In Exchanges And Wallets on: December 05, 2023, 11:10:51 AM
I think this has been stressed enough for people to already know that storing btc in an exchange wallet is not just a bad idea, it is a terrible idea.
I don't have a lot of bitcoins stored in exchanges so I don't mind that it's stored there and yes I do agree with what you're saying that it's a bad idea to put your coins in anything that you have no keys over but sometimes it's easier to store it there because I don't want the hassle of paying for transaction fees if I want to quickly convert to USD or PHP maybe I would probably learn my lesson the hard way someday but for now I'll just do it anyway.
Even though some of the big exchanges may claim that customers' funds are safe, it is better to be safe than sorry. If any hack happens to an exchange, they won't compensate you quickly because of the various process that is involved, in the meantime, you are losing out on opportunities, and there is a possibility not the full amount will be compensated.
People should already learn and understand the huge risk involved in keeping their funds in any exchange regardless of how secure they claim to be. Not your key, not your funds PERIOD.
It's a sad thing that exchanges are targeted by hackers but we can't blame people for still storing their bitcoins or crypto there, some people like me want the convenience I guess. I didn't know that if your coins are stored in a hacked exchange that they're going to compensate you, I thought that once you're funds are stolen from the exchange because they got hacked, that's it for you.
132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHY VERIFICATION IS IMPORTANT TO CRYPTO USERS AND INVESTORS on: December 04, 2023, 11:14:20 PM
The only reason I can say kyc verification is important in crypto is for global acceptance. The fact that kyc was introduced to cryptocurrency is not to benefit the crypto community or enhance the network. It is to satisfy the demand of the government authorities to be more crypto friendly.
Such a sad thing that the crypto people have to compromise when it comes to this kind of stuff, unless we really want to fight the government I guess can we really start becoming independent from them and not having to comply with their demands but the way I see it, I don't think that the crypto community wants to fight for that freedom the crypto offers in terms of anonymity because a lot of us just wants to make money out of it, make good until it lasts right?
A technology that is decentralized by nature does not need a centralized platform to flourish. Users can interact just fine without any issues, but this goes against the control mechanism of the authorities.
I highly doubt many crypto users are happy to go through the kyc process.
Exactly but the problem of transaction fee is just too much for some people, imagine having to store your 100 USD worth of bitcoin and you have to sell it when the price are at its supposed peak and we all know that during this time, transaction fees are always going up because there's a lot of transactions going on and some wants to pay for the highest priority, now you with the 100 USD worth of bitcoin which has doubled want to sell because you're smart enough to know that it's good to take a profit now but when you see the transaction fees, you're probably with the original 100 USD or higher if you can wait for days to have your transaction processed. Centralized platform like Binance helps with that conversion so you can quickly go to a different stablecoin and sell that stablecoin in P2P marketplace.
133  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I will invest the money to buy the land in Bitcoin. on: December 04, 2023, 03:03:08 PM
I'm sure you've heard it or have read already but don't invest what you can't afford to lose OP, 11 thousand dollars is a lot of money to dump in bitcoin and I don't even know if you're a newbie to bitcoin investment or not because that could mean a big difference, if you're a newbie and you plan to buy right now, you're probably going to panic sell when the price starts going down and see the value of your bitcoin go down but if you're not a first timer then it's probably the best time for you to get in even if the price is going up because that would mean that you can probably make more profit as you HODL until you reach a desired price to sell or if the price goes down when you were buying when the price was likely to soar even higher, then you will be able to endure the panic that's making you want to do stupid stuff like panic selling. Another thing that OP should consider is the legality of bitcoin because depending on where you live, you will likely be prohibited hopefully OP is somewhere that has a grey area when it comes to cryptocurrency.
134  Other / Meta / Re: Two ways of develop the forum! The time has come to decide the fate of the forum on: December 03, 2023, 04:40:34 PM
If ever this forum becomes a victim of invasion of privacy by the government, there's bound to be some reactions that will be generated by a lot of people in this and it's likely that if the invasion becomes so bad, word easily spreads around the campfire that something big is happening and it's going to start a chain reaction that will probably lead to people in the country protest about the invasion of privacy in the forum by government entities to monitor criminal activities, going offshore seems like a good idea to protect the forum but wouldn't that imply that in times of turmoil, our play isn't standing up to the tyrant or to the oppressive policies but to run away?
135  Other / Meta / Re: Live my life as a mod on: December 02, 2023, 03:29:03 PM
OMG, why are you hesitant? Why are you even asking? You should ban them both, is that really so hard man? Do you need permission to do the right thing? Ban them and let them come here for appeal, THEY WON'T. believe me because the community will scar them for life if they appeal.

This is not about free speech, this is encouraging violence and is actually a serious crime, please don't let criminals roam this forum that easily.
I agree, it's definitely not free speech if you're intending to hurt someone over stuff that you're passionate about, that's probably the most deplorable thing someone with a belief can do, to try and see those outside of their beliefs as uncouth and evil that can never have a different opinion, inciting violence is such a Twitter thing and I don't think anyone in this forum even likes Twitter. It's admirable that OP is hesitant about this because he respects the person behind those stuff and why they're saying is second only to his concern because OP believes in absolute freedom of speech which isn't the best one albeit the ideal one, so I think helping in and weighing in would help OP and at the same time let's us see a glimpse in what they're dealing with all day.

For me, if someone were to start threatening me or using their faith as a shield against their beration or slander just because I didn't share their faith or that I somehow disagreed with their beliefs, I automatically lose respect for them and either I tell them that the faith they're in is just a leash that let's them act in an unnatural way.
136  Other / Meta / Re: Does Loyce, Bpip & Ninjastic collecting IP-data of visitors? on: December 02, 2023, 02:43:12 PM
Obviously I can see everyone's IP address in my hollowed-out volcano lair. For example korner's IP is 127.0.0.1 and the Queen of England has the same address so take it for what you will.
This is illegal right, doxxing someone's IP address? Wait the Queen's still alive? Will they be doing a remaster of the Bohemian Rhapsody? Or maybe just the song Under Pressure?
137  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: December 01, 2023, 03:37:19 PM
Strategic mistake. But we are not law enforcement to say having them here could be better to keep an eye on them all in one place instead of having them go elsewhere scattered.
Maybe @theymos just wants what's best for the forum in the long run, I do agree that still allowing mixers so authorities can monitor them in one place which will make their job easier is definitely strategic but for me, that can only work so long because if authorities are lurking in this forum, there's bound to be some consequences to that with having the forum being scrutinized and possibly be investigated for other nonsensical stuff as one of the possibility that I can think of, and shouldn't this forum be free of those potential threats to our freedom to express our opinions right?
Government 1:0 Bitcoin community

theymos what next? Non-KYC casinos and DEX Exchanges getting the hammer soon? Because the government do not have control over them?

If we start giving in to every government request and start opposing Decentralisation and privacy on a Bitcoin forum, everything Satoshi established and ideology would be for naught.
It's a sad thing but I guess this is the best way to move forward for now, I hope that the day that they'll come after those services that you've mentioned will never arrive, that's probably an awful day for everyone here in the forum. Also, even if we want to fight for our right to be independent with our respective governments, there's not a lot of people that's going to back up our plight.
138  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: A scammer selling Bitcoin for $1000 on: December 01, 2023, 02:18:26 PM
Even people who aren't logged into the forum will see the big banner that reads "Warning: One or more bitcointalk.org users have reported that they strongly believe that the creator of this topic is a scammer.... etc." Not much you can do for people who read that and still choose to interact with the OP.
Funniest I've read so far today, it seems that those people that still fall for this is definitely deserving of what's coming to them because they're gullible and they don't have the survival instinct that should've been innate in our DNA as a human being, how are you those people not able to read those warnings with the red being such a contrasting color to the color of the forum which makes it easily spotted, I don't know how they'll be able to miss that, or they're so desperate about this crypto thing and they want to get rich so quickly that they're going to bite this obvious scam.
The guy is a notorious, long-time scammer that has gone by several other names like humbertin, humberroll, etc. He appears to be a professional scammer although he certainly isn't the brightest.
I wouldn't classify that person as a professional scammer with the way that he didn't even bother to change the names that he's using to scam people and to evade the people who guards against him and his scheme, I'd say that he's more of a dumbass lazy but patient scammer because no way that anyone will take the bait of this kind of scam everyday, it might take time before even one gullible user would even take this stupid bait or maybe not at all, that's why I added the patience virtue to the way that he scams.
139  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Please be aware, Bibox exchange is scamming people! on: November 30, 2023, 11:16:06 PM
With all the evidences that you've provided with the screenshots, I think that it's safe to say that Bibox will be an exchange that I have to remind myself not to get in because I am planning to switch exchanges soon with Binance at the countdown already, either I won't find another exchange and I will just store my bitcoin to a new wallet. Hopefully more people will try to take action against this exchange with @amable and @zigger33 already giving away some evidences and testimonies, if there's enough victims, we would probably see some actions taken.
140  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do You Use Crypto Signals? on: November 30, 2023, 03:33:20 PM
yes, before when I was still studying crypto and I still knew little about it, I would pay for a signal just to double my capital and what I paid for was a coach who would teach me strategy in crypto
How's the experience? Did you made the money or doubled your capital? You can't leave us hanging like this man. A lot of people are already certain that paid signal groups aren't a good idea and that they're a waste of your money and time so refute their claims, be the one that will prove to us that not all crypto signal providers are just money hungry mfers that just wants to make a quick buck tricking gullible people that wants the easy way out in trading. As for me, I've known better not to use crypto signals because when I was introduced to trading by my friend, he made sure to remind that signal providers isn't something I should be getting into let alone paying for one because they're not good and they're not going to make me any profit.
