1201  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to quit Gambling for good? on: April 30, 2018, 03:51:08 PM
That's true, if we set up limits when playing gambling then I don't think that we are going to be addicted, but the question is how to quit gambling for good? Well, for me this is too simple. Stop playing and that's it, no question ask. If you are determined to stop playing gambling then it is your choice to stop playing it. It depends on a person if they really wanted to stop already.

I think relatives (parents or partner) should also keep a watch on person involved with gambling. Once addicted, a person starts showing some peculiar traits. These people start ignoring their work or study for gambling purpose. If you are spending more than 2-3 hours daily on gambling websites, it is a sign that you are getting addicted to it.
1202  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If gambling is illegal in your country, would you still gamble? on: April 30, 2018, 03:49:49 PM
No,I won't but not for that is illegal in my country.Gambling is not the Halal way of earning money it's prohibited in Islam so I won't gamble in any situation.Gambling can't make me happy and its not good for my future. So I won't do gambling in any condition.I will always boycott gambling everywhere.

I was not aware that this was the case in a particular religion. Is it written especially for gambling or all other forms like sports betting, betting on horse races also included. I am asking because these thing came into existence quite late and were not available when scared texts or rules were written.
1203  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling. Is It Wrong? on: April 29, 2018, 02:29:49 PM

Sorry to hear about your sad past. However do you ever realize that gambling actually is not really bad if you play it with a limit to yourself? I suppose you play with no limits to land yourself in such a bad experience in the past.

Yes, also if there are problems like addiction, it is better if it is spotted in early stages. Once, the problem has happened, the resolution depends on many factors.

Just like other forms of addiction, this also requires family support. Family members should ensure that you are not spending too much time on gambling and it is just being done for fun.
1204  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The consequences of gambling on: April 29, 2018, 02:19:00 PM
Yeah! There are a lot of consequences of playing gambling and you cannot afford any of them because if you will try to do so, it will completely destroy your whole life and you would be responsible for all that and no one else. It is correct that gambling is having a lot of risk in it because you are dealing with the thing which you need the most in our life which is money.

Problem gambling is a critical situation as  the gambler loses all control over the act. He even ignores his family and finances while doing so. There are certain signs of problem gambling. For instance, if a person has started to take loans from family members to gamble, it is certainly one of the indications.
1205  Other / Meta / Re: TMAN'S guide to getting merit. on: April 29, 2018, 02:04:58 PM
This is really helpful just like me im beginner and i want some realistic experience about earning merit because there are some people abusing merit by selling and buying.

That abuse is also real. What follows such cases (negative trust) is real as well.

You can do good if you take care of some points:

1) Try to post more instead o just one liners. I am not in favor of posting essays here but be more communicative.

2) Please use capital "I" instead of i in your sentences which you have done in all four posts so far.
1206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did you hear about Bitcoin (From Ponzi to Cryptocurrency) on: April 29, 2018, 01:58:13 PM
How I heard about bitcoin started early 2015 when I was searching for means in which I will use to earn some money to help support my schooling because I'm an undergraduate.
How did you hear about bitcoin? I Wanna hear your experience

I wish I had also heard about bitcoins earlier. I came to know about bitcoins quite late. If I remember correctly, I heard about it on a IM forum and then I landed on bitcointalk. Now I get paid in bitcoins and other crypto for some of my freelance work and I am content with my performance so far.

It is really amazing to see the journey of members here who are active on this forum from 2012 or earlier.
1207  Other / Meta / Re: How to get merit points ? on: April 29, 2018, 01:55:21 PM
Even in a thousand year i won't get even a single merit point, new to crypto and also don't forget about my education background! ten passed and my parents got divorced, if i'm given a chance to use my mother tongue, i could've given a good quality post! Anyway m happy as i am in this community.

What is your mother tongue ? You can participate in respective local board. Lots of merits are being sent in local boards as well like Russia.

Regarding the unfortunate things that happened to you, I feel sad to hear them. Hope God gives you enough strength to face all this. I am sure that you will do good even if you are just tenth pass. There are many great people with limited education qualification who did well in their life like Sachin Tendulkar.
1208  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: April 29, 2018, 01:49:47 PM
I don't think it is necessary to make infographics on merit system and its mechanism.
For lazy users, who don't want to spend their a couple of minutes to read the ANN topic created by the forum admin, Theymos, they will probably don't care about how merit system works.
Therefore, such infographics is still irrelevant for their objectives.
For those users who readily to learn and have already spent their time to read the ANN, the infographics and the same ones are irrelevant for them, too. All essentials stuffs presented in the Theymos's ANN.

Anyway, thanks for your time to make your infographics.

I disagree, in my opinion such infographics can be useful in a number of cases:

1) These can attract a lot of new members to the forum. If you are active in IM, you must have heard that the inforgraphics are more popular than content now, that is because visitors like them.

2) If a person is taking out some time to create one, it means that he is concerned about this forum.
1209  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Hold. on: April 29, 2018, 01:47:10 PM
I have seen all the bitcoin hold for many profits in the future. What do you do for this and say?

Holding for long terms (2-3 years or more ) is always better than trading because:

1) You get much better returns (5x or more) instead of 10% or so.

2) It shows that you have confidence on the coin and thus you will pick only those coins which are fundamentally sound.

3) Saves a lot of time which is wasted in short term trading.
1210  Other / Meta / Re: Merit became a business. What to do? on: April 29, 2018, 01:45:10 PM
Theymos said not to worry from the point of running out sMerits not from the point of open buying/selling IMO.

This statement is consistent with the Forum's stance that they don't ban the promotion of fraudulent or questionable activity. The proper course of action is to post a scam accusation thread in the Reputation or Scam Accusation board.

You could also post negative trust for anyone selling or buying merit in such public fashion it can't be questioned. But this approach reeks of witch hunting.

Would be interesting to see how much tolerance is allowed for merit use ?

Repeated merit abuse should result in permanent ban in my opinion. Some people are not concerned about negative trust on their account simply because they are not using the account for signature campaign. Also, there are members buying accounts with negative trust here as well.
1211  Other / Meta / Re: STOP 'Quote post'- To Everyone Who use "Quote" Most of the time on: April 29, 2018, 01:41:23 PM
Why is it impossible? Your taught at a young age to highlight certain points in a text and respond to it.

Is this universal ? I was an above average student and I do not think that such thing was taught to us ever.

Forum etiquette are quite rare especially on a free forum accessible to everyone from different parts of the world. Again, this can be subjective, something considered cool at some place may be offensive to members from a certain place.
1212  Other / Meta / Re: A - Z Members of Bitcointalk on: April 29, 2018, 12:46:01 PM
I hope that the "G" username would be gone by now. One of the unique threads here after some time ( after the never ending merit related threads).

I guess using  a short username here comes with only one benefit that it is easy to remember. This can be handy for a lot of members as many users are not using their real names on this forum for obvious reasons.
1213  Other / Meta / Re: STOP 'Quote post'- To Everyone Who use "Quote" Most of the time on: April 28, 2018, 03:01:52 PM
You are doing a good job by sharing this useful information with other members, but I doubt if the abusers of this function are reading this. I guess the abusers of particular feature should be sent an automatic notation with a long essay where they have to read everything and then also submit answers to some questions based on what they just read. Smiley

We can start with your post for abusers of quote feature. Smiley
1214  Other / Meta / Re: Another "Thanks Merit For This Rank Up" Thread on: April 28, 2018, 02:56:58 PM
Nice to see you gaining merits so fast, it is good to read your honest opinions in meta as well. I started two months late than you so I have some time to catch you still. It is also nice of you to start a group for helping people with their English. Hope you keep marching ahead like this.
1215  Other / Meta / Re: Easiest Steps to get Merit on: April 28, 2018, 02:52:31 PM
This post was based on my observation so far since the introduction of Merit system.
Follow the under listed steps:
1. Look for a post that complains about the Merit system.
2. Tell the OP to stop whining and instead make quality post.
3. You can even go through the OP posts history and call them shitposts that doesn't deserve merits.
4. Sit back and expect your Merit.

Bonus point
Make a post on merit abusers, that can also earn you that much coveted merit.

NB: I appreciate the effort the Admins and Mods put in trying to improve this forum and reduce/eliminate shitposters but I do think Merit 2.0 is needed to fix some flaws in the system.

If you live on Rome do as Romans do. Smiley

Some members will try to bash you but they know inside that this happens  here for sure. I think we as a member have to act according to the forum rules only. If the people woning merits want you to praise the merit system, there is no point complaining about it (if merit is your main target).

After some time, you will realize all this is secondary.
1216  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: good time to invest into verge? on: April 23, 2018, 07:07:50 PM
If I think Personally, Now is the right time to invest because it is best to start investing as early as possible, but it's never too late to start investing otherwise you need not hesitate or delay when investing. And also you need to be careful in doing research before investing.

I do not agree to this. This is because we have recently seen the partnership between verge and PornHub which will boost the prices. If someone had to invest, it should have been done before the partnership was announced, Now one should wait for this news to become old and prices to drop down and then invest some money.
1217  Other / Archival / Re: Help a Beginner to understand... on: April 23, 2018, 07:01:07 PM
I'm a beginner so i can't teach to another beginner if only i am not a beginner i would like to share some knowledge on how to earn profit through any crypto coin as long as i have knowledge of it.
Same here, I read alot and research  in that way I learn and know bitcoin  very well.

Here is some more advice for you:

1) Do not invest huge amount in beginning. Test the waters with a small investment and then increase gradually.

2) Better if you earn your first bitcoins through bounty.

3) Do not take loan for crypto investment.
1218  Economy / Economics / Re: Can bitcoin help poor children in underdeveloped countries? on: April 23, 2018, 06:56:15 PM
I think it can. Bitcoin can replace the currency of lagging countries, which is constantly losing its value. Because of this, the inhabitants of the backward countries are constantly poor. Bitcoin can and should serve for the good of society!

I do not think directly but there can be a number of indirect benefits.

1) People becoming rich with crypto investments will do some charity and thus these poor children can be benefited.

2) Revenue of governments will also increase from taxes on crypto profits that can used for these people.
1219  Economy / Economics / Re: market refresh or just a pump ? on: April 23, 2018, 06:54:43 PM
It is kind of difficult to pump and dump bitcoin as you would coins with small market cap,the risk reward ratio makes it unattractive.I believe the growth we had a few days back are genuine signs of a market comeback

See the problem with market comeback is that every time you see prices picking up, some people will be selling their holdings. This is because we have a lot of people who got stuck with their investments they made when prices were at peak. Thus, there will be many ups and downs till the prices touch the $20k mark again.
1220  Economy / Economics / Re: Will the bitcoin be outdated by another currency? on: April 23, 2018, 06:53:18 PM
Bitcoin had been popular and well known to people. They treat it as the main currency in crypto world. It's the first crypto currency to ever bring convenience to everyone using the block chain technology. The reason why there are over thousands of crypto currencies today, is because it was inspired by the idea of bitcoin. So, I guess there nothing to replace it.

That is a very conservative approach in my opinion. I am also a fan of bitcoins but I think that there is always scope for improvement. Everything changes with time and bitcoins is no exception. We can have better technologies in future and bitcoins can co-exist with them.
