1261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What exchange to use a US Citizen Abroad? on: February 02, 2021, 07:31:47 PM

Also where did you get that information about citizen abroad cannot use binance.us if they don't reside in the US for at least so and so days a year?

Simply by looking at their terms of use https://www.binance.us/en/terms-of-use#eligibility

That seems ridiculous and how would they even know?

How would they know? I don't know but surely by asking for proof of residence and/or the tax return.

So would you suggest just continue to use binance.com outside the US then... since well I never did verification with them and i could still log in with no issue?

Hmm, in your shoes I suppose I would continue to use Binance.com but it might be a good idea to ask them directly. They will certainly be more likely to answer you instead of random people (me).

I read on twitter, seems like lot of US users say they use it but use a vpn.  Isn't that illegal though?  Or they don't care?

As for using a VPN, it has never been illegal but some services may not allow to use it. It's quite easy to automatically detect a VPN connection so if you really want to use it you have to consider that you could be blocked at any time if they have a problem with it.

Otherwise, everyone could cheat and there is no point in having rules.

Well binance you could buy basically any altcoin you want.  What other exchange is similar to altcoin where you could do that?  I could no longer use bittrex because im from a certain state in the US that they banned... and because i sent them verification.  Thus i think i could still use bittrex now if i didn't send them my verification.

Well it seem lot of ppl in the US use vpn though to use binance.  Saw some comments on twitter by users who say they do this.  I mean, there should still be nothing wrong with that right?

But for me, since im out of the US and never verified and log into binance with a non ip address... thus no use of vpn... should i try to trade on binance then?  I only used binance few times to buy some altcoins a while back... nothing more... and kept my altcoins there.

Haven't logged into my waves.exchange wallet in a while and when i did... it seems login is different?

Why does it ask for email address and password?

It is either that option or seed.

Its been a while since i logged into my waves exchange wallet but im pretty sure i recall i only had to enter one thing into it... whether it was the password or the waves seed.  Can someone tell me when did this change?  And months back... was it with the waves seed or the password for the waves exchange wallet?

Thanks.

You can choose between "e-mail" and "seed"! If you choose "seed" you only need your password (like before)!

https://medium.com/wavesexchange/decentralized-threshold-crypto-custody-5503a5d518e8

Can someone tell me when did the waves.exchange wallet implemented this?  How long ago was this?

Also before the email option was implemented... when you logged into your waves.exchange wallet... was it always type in your seed?  Or was it a password?  I haven't logged into my waves wallet in a while but i thought... it was a password to log into the waves.exchange wallet?  Or was it always the seed option?
1263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What exchange to use a US Citizen Abroad? on: February 02, 2021, 05:37:25 AM

You can use Binance.us and live outside but there are 2 conditions.

1) You can't use it if you're not a citizen but even being a citizen you can't use the platform if you live in a restricted state.
2) A citizen abroad can not use Binance.us. if he doesn't reside in the US at least XX days per year

- all the days in the current year
- 1/3 of the days the first year before the current year
- 1/6 of the days the first year before the current year

Today is February 1st, so:

- 2021: you have  to reside at least 32 days in
- 2020: you had to reside at least 121 days
- 2019: you had to reside at least 61 days

I don't believe Binance.com asks for your location since it already knows it based on your IP country

Okay so apparently binance.us is restricted in the US state where im from.  I heard binance.us restricted certain states... didn't know mine was... so that means no way i can use it.

Also where did you get that information about citizen abroad cannot use binance.us if they don't reside in the US for at least so and so days a year?  That seems ridiculous and how would they even know?

1264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [RE-ANN][SHIFT] ShiftNrg Phoenix | Web 3.0 | Substrate on: February 02, 2021, 05:28:00 AM
How do we get the big exchanges to list SHIFT again?
wSHIFT got listed on uniswap, liquidity will be increased asap! Hence, we ARE listed on one of the biggest marketplaces :-)
Afterwards, we have to see what happens! Team will continue to work on the migration to substrate and to relaunch the demo again.
If bigger cexes want to list SHIFT given the provided tech solutions etc, they are highly invited to do so :-)

wshift is the same as shift coin though right?
1265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What exchange to use a US Citizen Abroad? on: February 01, 2021, 05:08:17 AM
Does anyone know when you first signed up for binance.com non us site... if they asked you for your location?  Im almost positive they asked me for it though im not sure now.  But of course i never did verification because two btc withdraw limit... i saw was way more than enough for me so i never submitted it.

Is there any other us citizens abroad in this situation?

I also read that you can't use binance.us if you are residing outside the US but am a us citizen... is that true or false?  If that is the case, then a us citizen abroad can't use either binance then?
1266  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Suggestions: Best Exchange for US Citizens, low fees, "Safe" + Nano X on: February 01, 2021, 03:28:57 AM
Only looking to hodl BTC & ETH and eventually do a bit of swing/day trades. Looking to fund with Fiat via ACH or wire transfer. I would love to hear and appreciate your knowledge and suggestions for the best exchange to use:

-US Citizen
-As "safe" as "safe" can be
-Low deposit/withdrawal/trading fees

in terms of fees, binance.us is your best bet. 0.1% trading fees at the starting tier, free ACH deposits/withdrawals. next is kraken (as low as 0.16% trading fees) but they only support bank wires---no ACH.

coinbase pro's fees start at 0.5%. Roll Eyes

they all support 2fa (use TOTP like google authenticator, not sms!) and other standard security features.

-Must issue private keys so I can store on Nano X

no exchange will do that. it's not a secure way to transfer crypto.

-Also plan to do some swing trades in addition to hodling
-No nonsense approval/verification process

you might look into p2p trading. it's a great way to avoid KYC. https://localcryptos.com/

as for swing trading, you can use shapeshift to trade between BTC, ETH, and stablecoins without KYC: https://beta.shapeshift.com/dashboard

What is the benefit of using kraken then if they only do wires and no ACH?  Wires as you know are expensive whereas ACH is free.  I mean the top exchanges for us users are

Coinbase/coinbase pro

Gemini

Kraken

Binance US

Bittrex

Bitstamp

Would you say thats probably in the right order?
1267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Earning Interest and Staking? on: February 01, 2021, 03:05:35 AM
Anyone else?

Thoughts on doing it with stablecoin where you earn 8.6 percent on blockfi?  That seems almost risk free etc.

1269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: do you do mining or staking? on: February 01, 2021, 03:03:03 AM
Best coins to stake right now where the price won't drop?
1270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I have 1000 usd , where to invest , on: February 01, 2021, 02:56:38 AM
What would be some coins to try that amount on if you want like 5x the amount etc?
1271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why would you use USDCoin on coinbase instead of USDollar when selling BTCtoUSD on: February 01, 2021, 02:33:26 AM
Wait a minute... usdt or tether as its called is actually a coin?  I thought it was more like a digital fiat... where you can't send it from an exchange to another.

So usdt... usdc... you could send it from say binance to coinbase and kraken and vice versa?

Also... if you are using stablecoin, the best would be in what order?

Like this?

Usdc

Gemini coin

Pax

usdt

So basically if you want to move funds from exchanges easily, use usdc or usdt?  The gemini coin or gemini dollar is only able to be used on gemini only right?  But usdc is the best stablecoin because all exchanges accept it?  USDT is the same except well... its not one hundred percent backed?

What about pax coin then?
1272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stable coins are not actual fiat on: February 01, 2021, 12:48:45 AM
I agree that stablecoins are not actual fiat, but have the same value as fiat. So stablecoins are very useful for avoiding volatile crypto markets
and can also be used to save profits from trading. But it is not recommended to save our funds in large amounts of stablecoins. Because it is very
risky to save funds in stablecoins in the long term, besides the risk of a scam. You can't make a profit if you save money in stablecoins.

Well isn't the issue here lot of coins you can't trade directly with fiat though?  For example, many coins you can't even trade with usdt... you have to trade against btc only.  So imagine an altcoin that can only be traded against btc or eth and not fiat nor even usdt... how do you lock in your profits then?  Well isn't usdt thus your only solution?  Thus sell the altcoin for btc...then sell it for usdt... assuming you can't go from btc to fiat?  Like imagine say binance.  I assume you sell altcoin for btc... then just send the btc to a fiat exchange like coinbase/gemini/kraken and then convert it to fiat?

But if you want to not pay an extra conversion fee... whats wrong with keeping it in usdt... until you want to sell it for fiat or buy another altcoin?
1273  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why You Should Not Buy Bitcoin with PayPal on: February 01, 2021, 12:20:37 AM
Wait so if you have btc... you can't send the btc to your paypal account?  Im confused with this.  But you do have a btc balance in your paypal account though when you buy btc with your paypal balance.  So you can't withdraw the btc and transfer it to say coinbase or your own wallet or someone?
1274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stable coins are not actual fiat on: February 01, 2021, 12:19:02 AM
Well as of now and years ago, you could sell the stablecoin immediately for fiat.

But if you had a lot of stablecoins, shouldn't you feel pretty safe though?  I mean imagine those of you with 5 figures or or more in a stable coin like usdt or usdc or pax.  I mean its still worth a dollar... just require you to sell it right?
1275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Dogecoin with over 200% increased, what happen? on: February 01, 2021, 12:00:01 AM
So wouldn't it mean if you know when the ppl will start buying the coin to pump it up... reddit ppl.. then you should get ready to buy immediately?

1277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What exchange to use a US Citizen Abroad? on: January 31, 2021, 11:49:18 PM
You could have registered first with binance.us and see things by yourself on the available coins.  You will be surprised that you have a lot of alternative tokens that can be traded against BTC than any which has been mentioned here.

Well isn't the issue if i register with binance.us outside the US which im located now... well logging in with the same ip address to the binance non us site going to be an issue?
1278  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Beware of PayPal and other reversible transfer services on: January 31, 2021, 11:44:27 PM
What about cashapp and applepay?  If so, how many days can someone reverse it?
1279  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Nano Ledger S Supported Coins Question on: January 31, 2021, 10:13:07 PM
So I have some coins in binance that I want to send to my nano ledger s.  I also have some coins in my own wallet like the waves wallet that I kept there since back then, there was no waves wallet in the nano ledger s but now it seems there are.

So the coins I want to know about are

Powerledger
Waves
BNB
USDT

I checked nano ledger site and it seems you can send BNB to your nano ledger s.  Can someone confirm this?

Now... what if you have usdt in binance?  I don't at the moment but considering selling some altcoin for it on binance.  Because i always thought usdt is like usd in a way except its digital dollar and not fiat like say the dollar on coinbase or gemini.  If you have usdt in binance... could you send usdt to your hardware wallet?  Or is usdt only available in an exchange?  What about something like usdc which is a stable coin?

Also I have waves but I keep them in my waves wallet on the computer as oppose to an exchange.

I recall people mentioned you need to use one of those erc wallets combined with the nano ledger s... for this.  Is that accurate?  So I would need a myetherwallet account with powerledger in order to use it together with the nano ledger?  I'm confused by this since well that is an online wallet... which isn't safe... but if you use it with the nano ledger... it is?  But i heard cases of myetherwallet hacked etc.  So does using your nano ledger s with it... prevent all this from happening or not?

With waves... i know i get staking rewards since i lease waves in the waves wallet.  But if i use it with the nano ledger s... do i still get the same staking rewards?  So when you use waves with the nano ledger s... where are you waves coin?  Like is it in the blockchain in nano ledger or the waves wallet?  Because i know if you keep it in a hardware wallet like nano ledger s... its much safer than a wallet like electrum or waves since those are hot wallets as oppose to cold wallets.  I'm confused by this because does that mean my waves phrase is no more use if i use it with the nano ledger s then?  Example i use it with the nano ledger s... then say i use another computer and try to restore my waves wallet with my waves phrase.  Would that work or not?
1280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What exchange to use a US Citizen Abroad? on: January 31, 2021, 09:52:17 PM
Okay so there should be no issue creating a

kraken
binance.us

Account while outside the US then right?

So what are the exchanges then you recommend for me to use as im outside the US almost all the time?

Coinbase/coinbase pro

kraken

bitstamp

binance.us

kucoin

Is that correct?  Also is there anyone here still using their binance non us account while outside the US without an issue?  The last time i logged into it... not long ago... there was no issue at all.  But the thing is i never did any verification... and every login i did was outside the US.  But when you first signed up for binance... without verification, did they ask you for you country location though?  I don't recall if they did... but im pretty sure they did?  If so, why is it when i log in my binance non us account no issue though?
