1281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: February 23, 2017, 07:12:42 PM
Website exist  http://www.aeon.cash  but is not that much used. It should be posted on more places so more people can reach it and visit it.

It has been linked from the OP for a while, and also on twitter. I saw on reddit that it was missing from the sidebar there, but it looks like that is fixed now. Where else?

Lol we should change up that quote I made all those years ago - at the time I was just having a bit of silly fun, but it really does sound like something that belongs more on vodka or a timeshare than a crypto. 😄

Otherwise the website does look pretty slick! I didn't even see it until now; who made such a great thing?

I think sammy007 (or whatever number). Is there a website git repo where pull requests could be made, or an issue started to discuss changing the timeshare lingo?

...

Anyone?......I really would like my HUC back.

zapwallettxes should be used on start up, yes. It will just remove any unconfirmed txs from the wallet, so if they are not in mempool, fell out or never transmitted in the first place, this will allow you to resend the coins.

Thank you for that jwinterm - I'll try it now. Fingers crossed.

Re-started wallet using "-zapwallettxes" & after rescanning none of the missing funds have re-appeared back in my wallet. I'm beginning to think that all my sent HUC are gone forever due to a bug in the blockchain/client. 15 transactions up in smoke for no reason or explanation.

Great.

Have you tried dumping your private keys and importing into a fresh wallet then rescanning?
1283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NEW] Chimera - a Decentralized Gaming Platform - ICO coming soon on: February 20, 2017, 05:16:25 PM
from what i understood there is no way for us to earn chimera directly, without buying something else right? i'm disappointed in this, i would expect a huntercoin 2.0, a coin that you can earn with gaming, it's more fun for me than buying and dumping which feel like trading

I kind of agree, but at least for the time being you can play HUC to earn HUC to burn for the ICO thing.

Hello guys, how many GB can I get for e.g  10 BTC? Which is the ratio? 1BTC=1GB?

You can check current market price here: https://cryptox.pl/
About 0.06 BTC/GB atm.

Can someone let me know the current rate for GBB?
1286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON 2nd gen cryptonote, anon, mobile-friendly, scalable, pruning on: February 19, 2017, 02:16:55 AM
Here is some info on the differences:
http://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/1393/what-is-the-aeon-currency

Highlights:
4 minute block time
a lighter variant of the Cryptonight PoW
0 mixin transactions will be allowed

Thank you for the reply. What I really want to know is how is the lighter variant of the Cryptonight proof of work different from the regular and normal variant? Is it more energy efficient?

I also want to know how long will smooth stay with Aeon as lead developer?

I think the difference between cryptonight and cryptonight-lite is that the former uses a 2 MB scratchpad while the latter uses a 1 MB scratchpad, so this makes it easier to mine on slightly crappier CPUs (with smaller cache) and more theoretically possible on mobile devices, I think.

You guys are dreaming if you think bittrex is going to give you 0.0015 BTC/xzc. More likely to get blood from a stone.

I don't blame them in the least, either. It's not their fault you bought a bunch tokens for a borked network. I'm sure it's in their terms of service they can close a market at any time. You'll probably be able to withdraw your zcoins at least whenever bug is fixed.
1289  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: February 17, 2017, 04:31:37 PM
Why dont we make our own coinbase?

It's going back to 12 isnt it? THis is depressing.....

What happens if dash overtakes?

Coinbase has spent millions of dollars obtaining a license to trade cash for crypto in most/all states. It's not as simple as just throwing up a website.

Bitcoin is still rising, so $ value is staying fairly constant.

The end of the world as we know it.
1290  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: February 16, 2017, 07:53:26 PM
Any significance to the extended absence of aminorex in these parts?

I think I've seen him on IRC in #monero-markets in the last week or two...mebbe.

...

All nodes on the network will be able to sign transactions with the wild keccak algorithm and accept the same blocks.

...

Look, I'm not trying to troll (OK maybe a little bit). I don't have any BBR anymore and don't plan to grab any. I turned over the subreddit to you guys and don't post here or there anymore. But based on the above sentence it would appear you have no idea how the Cryptonote/Boolberry protocol works, and I can't understand how anyone with a modicum of technical knowledge would have any confidence in your "Blockchain Development Company".

Wild Keccak is the proof-of-work hashing algorithm - you don't sign a transaction with the proof-of-work, not in Bitcoin and not in Cryptonotes. You sign transactions with your private key, in Bitcoin using ECDSA, and in Cryptonotes using EdDSA. And although it might be technically correct in Bitcoin to say that nodes sign transactions, since the node and wallet software are bundled up in one program, that's not the case with Cryptonotes.

I mean, I'm not even that technically proficient with this stuff, but cmon man. Hopefully zoidberg can randomly release some software that accomplishes "the vision".
1292  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Exchanging HUC for CHI on: February 16, 2017, 02:29:32 AM
You'll be able to trade in HUC for CHI up until a certain date/block for a very good rate..

will have more info soon Smiley
If I buy some HUC right now will I be able to trade it, or has this block/time already passed?

The time definitely hasn't passed, so I'm quite sure if you buy now you'll be able to burn it for the ICO thing.

Anyone have a link for Windows AMD miner for Aeon? Or an OpenCL build for a AMD 5870 , or is it even worth running?
https://github.com/Arux-BTT/wolf-aeon-miner/releases

Thanks I'll check it out, I'm an Nvidia guy sooooo.... Smiley

What do I need to change in the conf besides my address and ports?? Crashes with 640 setting, OpenCl error -54 with other settings,, how do I find out what settings I should have for this card? Radeon 5800 series, I feel like a noob again Smiley thanks for any suggestions!

I think your card might be too old. You can try lowering intensity, maybe try 512, 256, 128, 64. If it doesn't work at 64 probably not gonna work. You could also try asking Wolf` on #monero-pools channel on freenode irc, he's generally very helpful and he wrote the original miner for Monero.
1294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: February 15, 2017, 01:38:23 AM
I should know this by now, but I don't. How does one interpret the Poloniex "Market Depth" chart? Here's a pic of the current chart: http://imgur.com/a/9wdSU

  • Going from the center to the left, the green ramps up and then becomes a vertical line. What does the the green vertical line signify?
  • Where the green and red converge, that's the current price, right?
  • Any other insights?

The green line is the sum of all buy orders in BTC, so when you see a big vertical step that is a very large order known as a buy wall. Red line is same but is the sum of all sell orders.

Other insights: people can put bids and sells up then pull them anytime, so it's not really a great indicator except to show how much liquidity there is close to the current price.

yes, v13.99 a fresh install. my wallet.dat not corrupt. run normal on v13.99.

how to fix that problem ?. please help me

If you created the wallet on v13.99 and it's not compatible with the older wallet, then maybe the only thing you can do is go to the console in v13.99 wallet and dumpprivkey for any address with coins, then use the old wallet to import the private keys. If you mined coins on the bad fork using the new wallet though, those coins won't exist anymore...

try import private key from wallet.dat create use v 0.13.99 to wallet v0.10.0.2 but say invalid private key.

That seems...unlikely. Are you sure you ran "dumpprivkey [address]" from your console?

How many coins were in the 13.99 wallet if you don't mind me asking? And how did you get them there? Mining on new release?

yes, i  ran "dumpprivkey [address]" from my console

we have over 150k VTC. my address: http://explorer.vertcoin.info/address/VbpTa2zZU37v1fEUGd7TZpdCHvwSCKucK3

we get buy from poloniex

So it looks like if i open up 0.13.99 without an existing wallet the HD key option is on by default

If if open 0.13.99 with an existing wallet file in place, HD key is off

So basically if i started with 0.13.99, taking the backwards step won't happen

with the standard method anyhow

so how do you export an HD key to make it compatible with an older version?

Oh I see. That is interesting that private keys generated from the HD seed wouldn't be compatible with an older version of the wallet, but I guess you have tried. Maybe you should try to chat with jamesl22 or ahmed_ on IRC or slack - they might have some better ideas.

No problem, glad you got it sorted. I think this thread can't be locked or changed because original dev lost control of his bitcointalk account, so just try to keep these giant green letters as the last post Smiley
1299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin wallet Core – v0.13.99.0 Released on: February 13, 2017, 05:23:16 PM
Vertcoin Core – v0.13.99.0

This wallet implements the SegWit soft fork as well as the other BIPs in the latest Bitcoin Core version. All users and pools should update. This version of stratum-mining has been updated and confirmed working: https://github.com/Crypto-Expert/stratum-mining. We will soon release a version of p2pool that is updated also. Non-updated pool software will not work with the new wallet but old wallets will continue to work after the soft fork. It is imperative however that users and pools upgrade to the new wallet and pool software in order to activate SegWit. We require 75% of mined blocks out of 1000 upgraded to activate.
link:
https://cryptowallets.io/2017/02/07/vertcoin-vertcoin-vertcoin-segwit-soft-fork/

Cannnot find it from github release.

MiningPoolHub you're in the wrong thread. Active ann thread is here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=895020.2780;topicseen

The upgrade forked the chain, so it is delayed and will be done as a hardfork in a month or so. Aren't you like 40% of the network hashrate? You should be knowing this stuff...

I am really interested in this, it will probably be the first ICO I take part in.

I am looking forward to the future of Chimera.

Good luck developers! I hope all goes well in this project.

Same here. I'm still a bit wary of taking part in an ICO, but I really like the Huntercoin guys and am at least willing to consider it this time.
