1281  Economy / Reputation / Re: This Account is possibly sold to a new user on: February 29, 2024, 08:57:17 AM
I remember "stingers": he was the first Merit source to trigger a Merit-rewind from theymos:
Is stingers still a merit source?
Not anymore. That's clear abuse, awarding merit for political reasons rather than any idea of quality. Only because he was a source, I effectively undid those merit sends. If he had not been a merit source, I still would've blacklisted anyone who got into DT1 through that type of shenanigans.

It could be the account got sold, but given the negative feedback he has already, I don't think a new owner matters much.

You may be able to mask your I.P. via Tor, but not details surrounding your browser, screen size and similar
Although off-topic: this is exactly what Tor browser helps prevent.
1283  Other / Meta / Re: sembt.com clones entire Bitcointalk topics on: February 29, 2024, 08:35:57 AM
Where does the money for this "great idea" come from? Ads? I can't see any. (Or maybe that's because I have my adblocker on.)
This meme-format comes to mind:
Step 1: copy content.
Step 2: get visitors.
Step 3: ....
Step 4: Profit.

Now that I think about it: I'll remove the clickable link I created in this topic. They don't deserve a backlink.
1284  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Feb 2024] Fees are lower, wait for opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs on: February 29, 2024, 08:16:25 AM
Bitcoin Core by default only keeps your transaction in its mempool for 336 hours (14 days) before kicking it out:
Quote
 -mempoolexpiry=<n>
Do not keep transactions in the mempool longer than <n> hours (default:
       336)
But I'm sure you already knew that.
I knew that for other transactions, but I meant a transaction made by my own wallet in Bitcoin Core. Did that change? I remember (years ago) I had an unconfirmed zero-fee transaction for months, until I double spent it. I don't think it ever stopped broadcasting it.
1285  Other / Meta / Re: sembt.com clones entire Bitcointalk topics on: February 29, 2024, 06:50:58 AM
Looks like this specific clone was made in China, and maybe they wanted to create fake conversation mixed with their own posts.
Not for nothing, but who could have guessed its country of origin?  No offense to any Chinese here who might not be in favor of counterfeiting, but....
I don't think it's the Chinese government doing this, just someone who had "a great idea" to make money. It happens in many other countries too.
1286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Feb 2024] Fees are lower, wait for opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs on: February 29, 2024, 06:47:16 AM
Anyway it worth to give it a try !
You'd be wasting your time.

If someone is owning a too heavy wallet to move it the worst that can happen is that the transactions get canceled after 14 days!  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
Transactions don't "get canceled". Once broadcasted, each node can do whatever they want with it. Some will drop it, and your own wallet may drop it (depending on it's default, Bitcoin Core for instance keeps it). But some nodes may keep your transaction forever, which means as long as all the inputs are valid, it can eventually get confirmed.

I don't think so as the transaction would be mainly ignored.. and at the worst as the TXs will still remain unconfirmed you could just spend it again when you want!
Spending at least one of the inputs is the only way to make sure your older transaction becomes invalid.

Let's stop giving incorrect advice in my thread. Miners don't fall for the "trick" to apply CPFP on a large low-fee transaction if the effective fee is low. There's no point trying.

1288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Feb 2024] Fees are lower, wait for opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs on: February 28, 2024, 06:00:00 PM
Take note that miners would prioritize CPFP transactions based on their effective fee rate, not based on the fee rate used for the child.
Maybe, but I don't think that it will be always the case!
What hosseinimr93 says is correct. If a miner would be dumb enough to to do what you suggested, it would be massively abused. Miners prioritize profit maximization, which means they'll start with the highest number of sats per vbyte (total transaction "up chain" including parents) an go down from there.
1289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to send 1 BTC with the lowest commission? on: February 28, 2024, 04:32:35 PM
Instead of sending 1 BTC at once, sending 0.1 BTC 10 times and setting the sats value to 30 (maybe lower) significantly reduces the total commission I will pay. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm just making this comment based on the estimated commission shown by trust wallet.
You're wrong. It could be your wallet selects the largest input first, that would explain why the fee goes up a lot when you send more. My advice: just send 0.1 Bitcoin now, and see from there.
Another advice: never sell everything! What if Bitcoin goes up 10-fold again the coming years? Sell some, but keep some too.

Quote
I want to send my entire balance with simple solutions without being too complicated. I think it would be reasonable for me to pay a total commission of $30-50.
Bitcoin transaction fees have nothing to do with "being reasonable". It's a free market, highest offer wins. Fees will probably go down at some point, but at the moment they're going up.

I recommend you to import your wallet into a software that supports RBF
That's dangerous advice. OP is holding quite a large amount, messing around with importing increases the risk.
1290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to send 1 BTC with the lowest commission? on: February 28, 2024, 03:25:51 PM
I've never used Trust wallet, but fees are based on the transaction size in bytes (or vbytes). 49 sat/vbyte is currently a bit high, but if sending 1 BTC costs more than sending 0.1 BTC, that means you have many different inputs (UTXOs).

I wrote a topic on consolidating inputs, it's worth a read.

Censoring only a part of your Bitcoin addresses in screenshots is futile, it's still very easy to find the full address.

In your case, your wallet is using the same amount of UTXO as input for either 1 or 0.1 BTC transaction probably because you only has one UTXO.
His fee went from $8 to $242.
1291  Economy / Reputation / Re: Users who spread false/fake/unhelpful information on technical board on: February 28, 2024, 11:02:22 AM
This user already have 4 neutral feedback and now he decide to spam technical board.

User: Silver005
Why wasn't he banned months ago? If Mods let chatbot plagiarism go unpunished, Bitcointalk will be completely overrun in a few years.

USD ATH Progress:

EUR ATH Progress:
Now do the same adjusted for inflation. Comparing to fiat currency that keeps losing money is just wrong.
Or gold, how far are we from the ATH measured in gold?
1293  Economy / Reputation / Re: Most technically knowledgeable forum users .. on: February 28, 2024, 10:00:31 AM
I just read one book about, Mastering Bitcoin.
I went without any books. But it's also the good thing about Bitcoin: most people can use it without reading anything. It helps to know the basics to avoid doing stupid things, but other than that, the software is pretty much self-explanatory. Until something goes wrong, or when someone starts making up their own "system" to store Bitcoins.
1294  Economy / Reputation / Re: Most technically knowledgeable forum users .. on: February 28, 2024, 09:44:04 AM
Is the most merited list a good indicator of this?
No.
But if you split it up per board, it starts to make more sense. A very clear example: gmaxwell earned 55% of his Merit on the Development & Technical Discussion board. On the other hand, there are users who earned more Merit, but don't even show up on the tech boards. I won't name them because that's not the point (and there's nothing wrong with it).

So it would be nice to know which members I can trust or at least know they’ve got a strong understanding of cryptography/programming knowledge
I wouldn't count myself in this category. I know my way around practical use, but I wouldn't know the inner workings of any of it. Luckily, that's not needed to be able to safely use Bitcoin.
I've seen users who know much more then I do. Or maybe they're just really good at Googling too Tongue
1295  Other / Meta / Re: sembt.com clones entire Bitcointalk topics on: February 28, 2024, 06:30:05 AM
I can't remember exact links but I am sure this is not the first time we see someone cloning bitcointalk forum.
I've seen them, but those were either fishing sites, or just full clones. This new one looks like it's trying to be a forum and uses "our" posts to make it look active.

You didn't say how they renamed you  Wink
I didn't find myself, but it looks like they didn't keep a fixed name for each user. The copied posts get a new random name.
1296  Other / Meta / sembt.com clones entire Bitcointalk topics on: February 27, 2024, 06:42:21 PM
Look what I just found (use Tor browser or VPN, don't expose your IP to this site): https://sembt.LINKBREAKERcom/thread-15254-1-12.html.
Now compare that to https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5481114.0 (the OP looks like chatbot spam, but that's not the point).

That site pretends to be an active forum, but simply clones Bitcointalk! Their user images are probably AI generated.

PrivacyG turned into LynnWalter, pakhitheboss turned into 8564Jg, pooya87 turned into SBSBB and Edwin, hd49728 turned into steven136 and hugeblack turned into brandon58 Cheesy
1297  Economy / Reputation / Re: AI Spam Report Reference Thread on: February 27, 2024, 06:02:21 PM
How about user Septex?
I actually know very little about this forum.
Bitcoin started its journey from that year 2009 and currently reached 2024. Bitcoin's phenomenal success over the past 15 years is truly mind-boggling. Bitcoin started its journey in 2009 with a very low price. In 2009, the price of Bitcoin finally reached $0.30 and currently the price of Bitcoin is close to $46000. Bitcoin's contribution as the first digital currency in the world is indeed the greatest. One such coin is accepted by the EFF. In the beginning, the value of Bitcoin was very small, but in the four years between 2010 and 2013, the value of Bitcoin reached $123. Again, between 2014 and 2017, the price of Bitcoin went to 750 dollars. In the middle of 2015, Bitcoin suffered major losses. About 50% of Bitcoin's value went down. Also 19 thousand BTC was hacked. But the point is that in 2017 Bitcoin made the first history in the world of crypto currency Bitcoin gained almost 1300% which is really amazing for that time. Poloniex made almost 60% profit in six months with Bitcoin. Thus, between 2018 and 2022, the price of Bitcoin was from $3000 to $30,000 in early 2021, and in mid-2021, the price of Bitcoin exceeded $65,000, which is the highest in Bitcoin history. In 2022, the market price of Bitcoin was again at $15,000, and by the end of 2023, the price of Bitcoin reached $46,000. In the current year 2024, I believe that the value of Bitcoin will exceed $10,000.  All past data suggests that bitcoin price bull markets tend to move upward too quickly.  I think Bitcoin will skyrocket between 2024 and 2026.

And yet, you've been here almost a year, and post chatbot diarrhea.
1299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recover BTC out of Old JuBiter Wallet on: February 27, 2024, 03:52:25 PM
I acquired a Tangem Wallet and selected the 'Import' option using my seed phrases.
You sure know how to pick your wallets, you went from one unknown wallet to another unknown wallet. Why don't you stick to the well known (and popular) ones?

Quote
I fear I tangled this up more than what it already was.
Importing the seed should not have moved your funds. If the balance didn't show up, something else may be wrong. But (as long as the wallet can be trusted), your funds should still be there.
1300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [overview] Recover Bitcoin from any old storage format on: February 27, 2024, 01:57:00 PM
If you want to recover an old JuBiter Wallet:
It is / was a clone / custom skin of the imkey wallet.

Don't think they did anything special with it.
