141  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Gauging Interest for Open-Air Aluminum Cases for GPU Mining - Ships from USA on: February 17, 2014, 04:51:51 PM

Ordered from them on 11/29/2013

Still have not received my order.

God luck!

Yeah, good luck with openrigs shipping...

BTW, if I were to order an open frame today from an US vendor, I'd be willing to pay US$129 for a 4-6GPU rig, including shipping to Canada, so roughly $99 for the frame itself.

I might be able to do that for you today.  Just depends on if you need 2 PSUs or 1... I was building a 1 PSU/5 GPU case for myself, but I am in no rush to get it done as I currently have it all in a wooden rig that I built.

About to go recreate the new base that I designed last week when I made a vertical mount for someone.  Here is a picture of what that looks like and this will be the new base for all of my future cases.  It supports 2 PSUs and is roughly 24x10 in size:

145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - www.middlecoin.com on: February 16, 2014, 07:07:18 PM
The high unexchanged is fairly common. People ask about it every week.

I've been on Middlecoin continuous since last summer, and beta tested them with another address earlier in 2013.  Others pools have popped up on occasion and I've tried most of them.  Only Hashcows came close to matching Middlecoin's rate of payout averaged over a long span of time, but they haven't been the same since their holiday hack.

None of the other pools have Middlecoin's primary strength: H20dyssey's ability to sell coins when no one else can at a price no one can match.  He manually trades like a hedgefund manager instead of just relying on Autotrade. High unexchanged is an artifact of this.

Biggest example was during the Doge craze during the winter holidays.  He jumped on Doge 4 days before any other pool did, then waited to sell until Cryptsy locked up with Doge exchange issues.   Hashcows and direct Doge miners couldn't sell on their favored exchange.  People were clamoring to buy but couldn't.   H20 sold and we made a killing.  That's what your 3.88% or so fee goes to.   Well worth it.

So don't worry about these high unexchanged values.  I love it when they get high, because at the end of the day, we get a bigger payout than if we just autosold everything like all the other multi pools out there during a market downtrend.

BTW- this isn't even close to the highest unexchanged values we've seen.

Bingo.

That's the primary reason I haven't even tried the other clones.  Maybe if someone else makes a pool that can be better than Middlecoin then I will switch, but I always hear mixed reviews which either put them on par with Middlecoin or slightly less profitable.

where? i could not find it

This is a good spot to start.  When you express things like "include VARDIFF and this pool will be better" then you are expressing a fundamental misunderstanding of how mining works.  Your hashes are not part of some global race to a solution, they are each individually capable of winning the lottery (aka share/block reward).

Higher difficulty causes more variances, but if you are mining for more than a day or two, everything evens out and some days you will have lucky days where you get more shares than you should have with any given hashrate.  This stays the same whether the difficulty is 1 or 10,000.

Who knows. All I can tell is you issues have been therefrom the start. I dont know how the pool got so big with that many issues. Unless people leave their systems unattended, then maybe that is why its able to maintain such high hash rates. I know if I was running a business, which is what MC is, I would communicate with people that support your pool on a daily basis, or at least employ someone to do that.

I also dont understand why people arent taking advantage of other pools such as Waffle and HashBros.

That answer is easy.  It was more profitable than any other pool since it's inception.  Now there are clones of it, but h2o has them beat in terms of experience, so I stick with him.

Go take advantage of your CleverWaffleBros.  No one will stop you.

please set difficulty like waffle, when you can choose from 16 to 1024, it would be perfect

Difficulty does not matter.

Go read up on how mining works since you clearly do not understand.

I'm really interested as well, and am looking forward to your website. I'm currently waiting for delivery of a similar product, so I think I'd prefer to wait for you to get an established distribution model in place.  But I think if you can get the design set, and the cost a bit lower (Does the prices listed include shipping?)  I know a few people who would be interested including myself.

I am working on getting the cost down as low as possible.  Shipping is not currently included in the price, but that price list is also not concrete yet.  Additionally, I am going to offer the clear aluminum as a cheaper alternative as the metal is about $0.60 less a foot for clear versus the anodized black.

Interested.
4-6 GPU

One suggestion/idea: the rear GPU supporting bar may be too far back for some shorter cards. Is it possible to have the support bar placed about an inch from the end of the PCI-e connector? That would provide universal support, regardless of the GPU card length...

I used a 5850 to measure the size and figured it was shorter than most of the newer cards.

I also wanted to make the design a little bit different, but decided that the cost was not worth it.  However, I do make custom designs, so if someone has shorter cards and needs a case, it would be no issue at all.  Once I finish the stackable prototype this weekend, then I will have exact dimensions on how short the card will have to be for it to not work.

I am also looking into make the support bar adjustable.

Looks like we are going to get a good payout today! Thanks H2O!

It's because he loves us and wants to give us VD in a good way.
154  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Gauging Interest for Open-Air Aluminum Cases for GPU Mining - Ships from USA on: February 15, 2014, 12:46:37 AM
Designed my first vertical rig today for a custom order.  Had a lot of fun, but not sure exactly how to mass produce them as the height of the GPUs varies between cards so the support bar would need to be adjustable and all GPUs would need to be identical for them to be secure.  It was fun to make though.  Might try and come up with an adjustable support bar with 6 different sections so that it could be made universal but the costs would probably make that more of a "fun" project instead of a viable product.

Finished most of the cost analysis and came up with a solution for the PSU mount.  Unfortunately I can't find the angular aluminum in the anodized black, but I think it still looks pretty good.  Hopefully will have a chance to take some better quality pictures and post them this weekend.

The website is almost up and running, but I am waiting on my shipment of various cables from China before I launch it.  In the meantime I will be taking and filling orders for cases.

Interested.

PM sent.

KWH, you got all your hardware in yours? I wanna see how sexy they look with 8 GPUs in there Wink

I have 5 - 7950's in there but will add another MB (Classified 4 way), 2 more PSU's and 5 - 7970's. Once that's done and all cleaned up, I'll post some Hardware Porn.  Grin

How's yours coming?

Edit: I'm also moving to 220volt.

Out of respect for Fluffy I will not be discussing my cases in this thread anymore or posting pictures.

I will be making an announcement for my site when it goes live in the next weeks.  Waiting on some cables from China so I can offer everything at launch time.

Running out of scrypt rigs again. Come one providers, where are you now? Current payment is 0.02468073 BTC/MH/day.

Right here.  But no clue how to use your service... I've been so wrapped up in getting my business rolling that I haven't had a chance to do anything but register.

Got a stable 2.05MH/s running right now and will be adding 4 more in the future Smiley

Hey, sorry for the delay. My apologies. I know BTC has been dropping rather quickly as of late. How about .4? That's $225 at the exchange rate right now.

And yeah, I don't mind sending first. I suppose simply PM me your address and I will have them sent out Monday. I'd say tomorrow but we just got pummeled by this blizzard over here. Tongue

Sounds good. I agree to pay you .4 BTC upon their arrival.

PM'd you my address.

My wife is going to kill me... especially if BTC skyrockets over the weekend.  Would you agree to $250 worth of Bitcoin on the day they arrive?  It's a gamble for both of us, as it could go up or down between now and then.
