361  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: newbie needs some help with motherboard selection :-) on: January 27, 2014, 09:01:44 PM
That one has 4 PCIe slots.  The three on the left are PCI slots, not PCI-express.

You will need risers... I do sell them but as I am in the USA, you might want to find a local supplier since the shipping would likely be ridiculous.

x1 to x16 risers can be used in all PCIe slots, and are preferable to x16 to x16 risers as they promote air flow.

The only two risers that are ever necessary on any motherboard are x1 to x1 unpowered and x1 to x16 molex powered.

Hope tha thelps a little bit Smiley

Ebay sells at 6$

Prove it.

Or are you talking about the ones that ship from China and take 30 days to get to you?

Prove it lol? Can't you search yourself?
Mine ended up in my mail box in 1 week, all stuff from china takes about 1 week to Europe. When im using a carrier (normal one) from USA it can take up to 3 weeks. This is why I'm always pleased with buying from china.

I can search myself and I don't see any for $6.
363  Economy / Services / Re: [BTC.sx] Get paid for your signature on: January 27, 2014, 06:20:31 PM
Can somebody explain this to me? I've spent the last 15 days thinking about what could be behind that comment...

I was drunk and being silly in a response to someone who was upset about not getting paid at 12:01AM on Jan 1st.

The amount of money paid out from the signatures is pretty insignificant, so I was just saying it in jest as I don't know how anyone could actually need to receive their payment so promptly.

364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 27, 2014, 05:22:15 PM
My point is that in September, the math added up to very poor profitability.  It might have been less poor than mining LTC or any specific coin, but still poor.  Before the profitability shot up, were folks simply putting their gaming cards to use, as opposed to deploying $2000+ rigs specifically for profit?

Poor profit doesn't really matter.  I think the majority of miners hold their coins anyways.  I was making 0.01-0.03btc/day with my 700kH/s rig, but that is worth much more now than it was back then.  So since I held, wasn't I technically making $8-24/day back then?

Next week I am going to build two real rigs so I can get about 5MH/s total power.
365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We have seen Dogecoin before... It's name is Yahoo on: January 27, 2014, 04:47:47 PM
I started believing in Dogecoin a couple of weeks ago when I sold some PCIe risers to someone off of Craigslist.

When I met him he said that he kinda followed Bitcoin but never really got into it.  Then he said he was so pumped about Dogecoin that he just had to go out and buy a mining rig so he could get his hands on some DOGE.  He bought 8 risers from me, and had a car full of equipment... for Dogecoin.  Not Bitcoin or Litecoin, but Dogecoin.

Personally, I still don't get it but it clearly has much wow and such appeal.
366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: powered risers or not on: January 27, 2014, 04:42:00 PM
You should always use powered risers if you have the option.  You don't necessarily need them (but should still use them as a precaution) in the following situations:

1) You are only using 1 or 2 GPUs on a motherboard.  The motherboard should have no problem handling that without extra power.
2) You are using an Asrock BTC H81 Mobo or something similar that has additional power connectors directly on the motherboard.

Let me explain something to you.

I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

369  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: LaunchPool - First pool to automatically switch mining to newly launched coins! on: January 27, 2014, 04:22:18 PM
Yes, to mine the newest coins.

Yes, miners should create a wallet to receive the generated coins.

For the coin launches, maybe a partnership can be created with: http://coincalendar.eu/

"It would be a convenient way to collect new coins to hoarde until the pump and dump is ready. " - Exactly !

Wow... just looking at that calendar is depressing.  So many shit coins lol

Whew... I got nervous that yours were going to be cheaper than mine, but they aren't powered.

*breathes sigh of relief*
371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: LaunchPool - First pool to automatically switch mining to newly launched coins! on: January 27, 2014, 02:36:12 PM
So, basically it would be like using Middlecoin except instead of mining the most profitable you only mine the newest coins?

How would people receive their coins?  Would the pool hold the balances until the users create a new wallet for the new coin that they have been mining?

This would require a very organized pool operator with a lot of time on their hands.  They would have to be up-to-speed on all announcements of new coins and get a jump start on setting up their own mining pool for each new coin.

I could see a lot of people using a small percentage of their hash power for something like this as long as the coins were not automatically sold and converted to BTC.  It would be a convenient way to collect new coins to hoarde until the pump and dump is ready.

373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 27, 2014, 02:15:35 PM

Wow jump down someone's throat much? I was just surprised that neither West or EU were up, At what point did I claim high expectations or thinking I could make more elsewhere? I'm happy here thanks and good payouts.

Middle is always returning way more than the likes of Multipool etc should do.

Gonna go out on a limb and say he meant to quote the_unholy_grail

Either that or it was just a general statement from someone who has been here a while.  I've never seen people complain so much about a pool as they do about Middlecoin.  Between ignorance of difficulty and balances, there is never a shortage of pissed off people in this thread Smiley

  • Women are too dumb for bitcoin
  • Women only care about their shoes
  • We need titties
  • Women can only get bitcoins by prostituting themselves
  • Anything similar to the above

  • Most people are too dumb for bitcoin... women included
  • Women care a lot more about their shoes than men
  • We need titties.  Seriously.  There is a lack of titties in this thread.
  • Women can only get bitcoins by prostituting themselves

I wouldn't trust the Alibaba sellers.  Both are unverified, and one of them refused to talk to me on Alibaba and requested I email his personal email at xiangliao@gmail.com

I'm curious about this US partner.

Your costs must be very low.

Can we discuss difficulty again?  My 110kH/s rig is wasting hashes because the difficulty is too high Sad

I should be receiving 1x to 1x risers today.  Will post additional info when I receive them.

Apparently not... DHL just teased me I guess Sad

1. there's no scrypt chip producing 300kH/s

I hope you are right.

The other numbers don't even need to be addressed since it is clear you are not interested in exploring hypothetical situations which is the preface of the entire message of mine that you quoted.
380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 22, 2014, 09:54:43 PM
Litecoin (and other Scrypt) Devs have as part of their list of features ASIC resistance for the Scrypt Algorithm.  There have already been discussions on switching to something else like Scrypt-Jane or another more esoteric algo when ASIC's come knocking on GPU's power/hashrate threshold. They will do a hardfork if necessary to keep Mining a community activity.

Good point, and I hope you are right.

I'm going to be very shocked if this ASIC is real and hope to hell it isn't.  Figured it would be a bit longer before we saw Scrypt ASICs.
