401  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: January 18, 2014, 07:31:57 PM

I haven't seen anyone able to use 20a power supply (but I may be wrong) to run a cube even on low.  Maybe 25a, but you might not be able to run high speed clock. (That is why they have 30a fuses for protection at full clock).  Even the OP (Doggie) in the first topic is suggesting 66a for two cubes.  From my experience a 30a 750w PS was not even adequate to run one on low, but I am sure different power supplies perform better than others.

Someone earlier in this thread stated that he was running a cube on high off a single 25a 12V rail...

I did not have any success with that, but it's humming beautifully along.  Wish he had a friend running with him though.

Be sure to add some extra cooling measures. By simply having a house fan sit behind your cube with improve its efficiency greatly not to mention most likely extending its service life indefinitely.

Mine has been running for about 3 weeks straight with the stock cooling and getting 38+ pretty steady...

That last status (insert item into bag out) means it's left the country - so there's not much more it can say:) Tracking it to see if it's arrived is best done on USPS or Royal Mail or whatever the local mail service is (using the same tracking number)

Does it usually take over 16 days to send stuff from SA to US?  Honest question, because I've gotten things from China within 5-10 days.

406  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: January 15, 2014, 12:34:02 AM
if anyone has fixed the random restarting please tell me I will pay a donation I have 3 restarting cubes and I have reasembled them all with no fix please help

You gotta give more information than that.  If they are all configured incorrectly then that would explain why they are all having the same problem.

To correctly troubleshoot, it is best to provide:  a screenshot of your cube configuration(s), a screenshot of "ipconfig" when run in command prompt, and the batch file you are using to start the program.  See the pictures below:

Examples
Cube Config Screenshot:

IPConfig Screenshot:

Batch to run Proxy Miner:
Code:
C:\proxyminer\mining_proxy.exe -o stratum.btcguild.com -p 3333 -gp 8332

If you are using a U-Verse connection here is my personal troubleshooting that I did:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=375093.0

If you are on a WiFi connection with an Android phone, try shutting down all WiFi devices and only having the Cubes and the proxy connected to the network.

Were are we at on the orders? I hope progress is being made.  Grin

SAPO's tracking is very poor to say the least.  I wouldn't even offer them as an option if I could avoid it...

According to their site, the last time my package was scanned was 1/9.  Probably going to be closer to February before I get it.

Bump bump.  Get your risers here cheaper than anywhere else on the forums and if you find a better deal, then I will beat them Smiley

Sure, you can go to some fancy website and pay $20 each, fill out some forms, feel good about it and get them in a week or so, or you can just post here or shoot me a PM and I will ship it out to you within 24 hours.

I like that the OP has a more annoying signature than my paid signature Cheesy
410  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: January 09, 2014, 07:20:32 PM
My configuration is really not complicate:

mining_proxy.exe --host stratum.bitcoin.cz --port 3333 --getwork-port 8332 --stratum-port 3333

Batch file looks fine.  Can you take a screen shot of your Cube config page?  Also a screenshot of "ipconfig" would be helpful, but if you don't want to include that, please run it (command prompt -> "cd\windows\system32\" enter then "ipconfig") and tell us what the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway IP is...
411  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 2000$ poll on: January 09, 2014, 07:15:54 PM

The first jump will come in March-April.  That's when many Americans get large tax rebates, most of which are $5000-$10000 or more.  This money is typically not budgeted so it's disposable income that people use for vacations or even investments like bitcoin.

Damn!  Where are these tax rebates at?  I don't think a lot of people that actually invest their money will be seeing $5-10k tax returns.  Most of us end up having to pay or receive very little.

But, yeah, if I was a single mother of three making $29k/yr I might see a return of over $5000.

Order 743 here. Just got my tracking info from info@openrigs.com. Damn, is the South African post office slow. Buyer beware, I bought my rig on Black Friday and am still waiting.

I have had cordial experiences with customer service (and Riccardo). Just wasn't expecting things to take this long  Undecided

Yeah, I'm in the same boat.  It's okay man.  I expected it to be quite slow... If these things take off, I might have to contact OP about being a USA reseller.

I like the design but I want to test it first Cheesy
413  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 1x to 16x molex Powered PCI-e Risers for $12-14/ea on: January 09, 2014, 02:18:37 AM
Do these have the capacitor? Any thoughts on that being good or bad?
Thanks.

When I think of a capacitor I am thinking of something like this:

These have the molex power on them.  My understanding is it takes two of the wires and powers it through the molex.  Without the molex power, it uses power through the motherboard.  This can be bad if you are using multiple risers per motherboard.  From all of the posts that I have seen about it, no one has really had any problems with unpowered risers unless they are using 3 or more.  That being said, the powered ones do not need the power to be plugged in for them to work, so they can serve as unpowered risers as well.
EDIT:  This is incorrect.  After testing these out they MUST be connected to the Molex or they will not work.
[/b]

I see no advantage to using nonpowered risers except to daisy chain for lengthier case builds.  I also have 6pin PCIe extender cables for those using beasty PSUs to power a lot of cards where the cables could not reach.  I have no idea how useful they would be, but I bought them anyways because they seemed like a good idea.  lol

Well I plan on buying $10k worth of Bitcoin in the next month, so hopefully it hits $2000 sometime this year... I'm holding out for $10k+ though  Grin

417  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: January 08, 2014, 02:38:35 PM
However the 500Watt and 650 Watt PSU can start the cube.

The 500Watt the LED stays red.
The 650Watt the LED goes off and it seems to start mining but also after exactly 2 min it reboots.

Ahhhh, sorry I misread that the PSU was shutting off.  If the mining is rebooting then it could be a different issue.

Post up the info on your Cube page, your batch file to run the proxy miner, and also what you get when you run "ipconfig"

We should hopefully be able to assist from there
418  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: January 08, 2014, 02:25:38 PM
Tried different PSUs from 500-650-700 Watt

Tried brand new Cougar Power X 700 Watt. Id does not even start with this one. Just the fan turns shortly then off.

I now ordered a new one: Corsair CX750

Hope this will work.

Well, based off of Newegg(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817553002), it certainly looks like that PSU should get the job done.

+3.3V@24A, +5V@20A, +12V1@30A, +12V2@30A, -12V@0.3A, +5VSB@3.0A

Have you already removed the main board and made sure all of the blades and heatsinks are secured?
419  Economy / Services / Re: MarketPlace Needed on: January 08, 2014, 02:23:05 PM
Pretty disappointed with this Guy. After all the work is done, he stopped responding me. What should i do now?

Sell it do the highest bidder.

If you actually worked on a marketplace, someone else will buy it.

Make a thread with more details and link to it... I'd throw up a bid Smiley

Hi Shaker242, I read through your post but my problem is not only slow mining it simply does reboot all the time. After 2 min. reboot. Actually you do not tell how you solved the problem.

The LED stays red on some powersupply. On the other it goes off but also after 2 min restart it connects to my windows binary proxy. And also I tried to compile the slush proxy on ubuntu which connects now the same way, but no luck getting this brick to mine.

What PSU are you using?  Everyone that has had this issue seems to have resolved it by getting a new PSU.

12V @ 25A seems to be the minimum requirement as far as I can gather.

Edit:  Also be sure to take off the case and ensure all heatsinks are screwed on properly and all boards are seated correctly.
