Oh look...Pangia is posting again in the wrong section about his Doge.

Anyone remember his last post here:

The Largest $ Monetary TWEET in History Happened Yesterday with Cryptocurrency

Oh look, and this post is still in Bitcoin Discussion despite your complaints to the MODS. LoL.

No it's not.
143  Other / Off-topic / Re: Playing Chess on TV broadcasts as crowds (Deep Blue vs. Rest of the World) on: March 19, 2014, 02:18:19 PM
...
Would IBM's Deep Blue still win? Maybe...
...

If Twitch Plays Pokemon taught us anything it's that crowds are awful at working together to play a game!  I'm sure Deep Blue would slaughter "the world", if a game was played in this fashion.

Everyone (including the moderators), except theymos and the spammers/abusers, is tired of it, apparently.

Masochism is currently a requirement for moderators.

Yes and Yes
145  Economy / Gambling / Re: One thread per site ONLY on: March 15, 2014, 02:30:29 PM
Does adding a subdomain count as a separate site?

Technically, yes. They are two different sites.

In my eyes it doesn't, same guy with the same concept... one should probably be removed.
146  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: March 15, 2014, 02:28:57 PM
Over 15% of the annual household income in the US - extremely stiff. I considered donating until I saw what they consider a reasonable minimum donation.

The VIP level they have set just proves neglect. If I donate $35,000 a half purple coin under my name isn't going to cut it - they better be curing cancer.

You need to realise that these prices were set back when BTC had a lot, lot less value than it does today. Now an argument could be made to change the requirements, but theymos has consistently opposed it as current VIPs and Donors feel that it isn't fair to them given that they had to contribute that amount of BTC. Hence the exorbitant price of these account ranks.

It was stated when the ranks were created that they would be pegged to BTC and not USD.  There's a chance different ranks might be created eventually, but that's unlikely.

Well there's negative trust on the guy now from me
148  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin needs something equivalent to a stock split on: March 14, 2014, 02:33:30 PM
Such a thing could be implemented, but I can't see it being accepted by a majority of peer nodes. My opinion is that we should not monkey with the code to accommodate human nature. If someone can't get their head around the fact that price is irrelevant then they should trade beenie babies instead.

The attitude of "if you're not smart enough, then f@#k you" is not the way to go.  If you want Bitcoin to be successful then it's going to need to be made easier for people.

I think we need to unify around using mBTC instead of BTC, that's the simpler solution compared to a "stock split" type option.  We may need to split eventually, but it most likely won't be necessary for a long time.
149  Other / Meta / Re: Abuse of self-moderated topics by reflink spammers on: March 14, 2014, 02:12:53 PM
If you see people creating threads to put out their referral links please report them.  The first post in a topic should never contain a referral link.
150  Other / Meta / Re: Weird Problem with Formatting on: March 12, 2014, 07:40:42 PM
If I try to use a table and then follow it up with a paragraph with long text the forum displays it incorrectly. Text taken from this page Example Code:

Code:

Dividends for the Month of February (March 1[sup]st[/sup] dividends) are out. Summary of Divs below:

[table]
[td][tr]
[td]Item[/td]
[td]Amount[/td]
[/tr]

[tr]
[td]Divs Total[/td]
[td]1.00016000[/td]
[/tr]
[tr]
[td]Shares[/td]
[td]133,000[/td]
[/tr]
[tr]
[td]Divs/Share[/td]
[td]0.00000752[/td]
[/tr]

[/table]

[b]Buyback[/b]

You may have noticed that the total Share amount is lower than it was last month. That's because another 2,000 shares have been bought back off the market through our share buyback policy. All together our buyback policy has removed 5% of the total shares available on the market. Effectively making our shareholder position more valuable.

Example:

Dividends for the Month of February (March 1st dividends) are out. Summary of Divs below:

ItemAmount
Divs Total1.00016000
Shares133,000
Divs/Share0.00000752

Buyback

You may have noticed that the total Share amount is lower than it was last month. That's because another 2,000 shares have been bought back off the market through our share buyback policy. All together our buyback policy has removed 5% of the total shares available on the market. Effectively making our shareholder position more valuable.

Looks like you left an open tag.  I added in
Code:
[/tr]
near the end and it works fine.

On another note, I'd definitely like to help with this... especially in the Northern VA/DC area.  There is a big need for better resources to learn about Bitcoin.

Please feel free to shoot me a PM and we can talk some more.
152  Other / Meta / Re: Questions to theymos about the $1,000,000 forum software project on: March 12, 2014, 02:37:33 PM
There are still plenty of unanswered questions...

I'd say the biggest (and easiest to answer) is where's the proof of the $350,000 initial payment?  It was said that it was done in BTC, so it should be super easy to find and link the transaction.

Also, there was mention of taking input from the community for the new software... will this happen?  It's been over a month since this thread was first started, I find it odd that I haven't seen or heard about Slickage talking with the community.

EDIT:
One more thing I forgot to add up top.  Was it ever stated why Slickage needs full access to the forum database?  Because I can't think of a reason they would need it, they should only need to know how it's laid out.

Why would anyone lend an anonymous person on the internet the equivalent of almost $500?  That's just a silly idea
156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Raising BTC to protect this guy, even if it's not Satoshi he is in trouble!!! on: March 06, 2014, 08:31:01 PM
Don't donate to random members that claim to be raising money for 'charity' because there's no proof if they'll actually follow through.

@OP if you're serious then get someone trustworthy to hold the BTC
157  Other / Meta / Re: Can we get an MtGox subforum here? on: March 06, 2014, 08:24:51 PM
There won't be a MtGox sub-forum created, no need for one in the long term
158  Other / Meta / Re: Upgrade forums to SMF v2.x? on: March 06, 2014, 12:22:49 AM
There is new software being developed for the forums, so that's why upgrading and fixing everything would be pointless.

Sorry, not sure I understand what you mean by "new software", could you elaborate or link to more info?

159  Other / Meta / Re: Upgrade forums to SMF v2.x? on: March 05, 2014, 11:50:29 PM
There are a lot of custom things done to the forum that would be broken by upgrading.  There is new software being developed for the forums, so that's why upgrading and fixing everything would be pointless.
160  Economy / Services / [WTB] Text Parsing Script (prefer PHP) on: March 05, 2014, 08:16:01 PM
I've got a need for what should be a fairly simple script.  I've got a long text file that's a bunch of records all together.  There are certain lines I want to pull out and put into a CSV file, the file doesn't need to be written just the the CSV displayed so I can copy it.

Each record is about 150-200 lines of text and I'm probably looking to pull about 10-15 lines per record.  There is an identifier for the start of each record.

I'd prefer this to be written in PHP as I'm going to modify it in the future.  I'm open to other languages as well, I just know PHP the best.

Shoot me a message and I can send you some more specifics of what data I'm looking to pull out and a text file with 15 records to test it with.  Also, let me know your estimated time/cost to complete the script.

Found someone to do it.
