1401  Other / Meta / Re: Manual Merit and Automatic Activities on: March 19, 2018, 06:43:00 PM
How do we automatically judge which post is merit-worthy? Super advanced AI?

- Nothing is impossible  Roll Eyes

I know a forum (it was related to jobs and exams in a country) which implemented something like this. It was a very popular forum as it used to share ts monthly earnings with all the members making posts on that forum. With time the number of members increased and thus they introduced some point system and posts were automatically given some points based on content length. Later members started abusing this by making irrelevant posts with more content length. That forum had to completely remove the process of sharing the monthly earnings after its search engine rankings were affected by so much spam. Thus, manual merits is best for bitcointalk.
1402  Other / Meta / Re: A new rule is needed for bounty managers. Please share your opinions. on: March 19, 2018, 06:37:34 PM
This can be huge issue for some members and there are only two solutions for this. First is to completely avoid such bounties which is the safest option. There are a lot of other earning opportunities here which do not require such personal information and you can look into them. If the first option does not seem practical to you, you just need to change your email id here. Use an id that you have not used anywhere else for this purpose and the problem is automatically solved.
1403  Economy / Economics / Re: Money laundering tools on: March 19, 2018, 06:27:08 PM
That's not true. Try to change bitcoin to Fiat. Maybe you know a secret way to change cryptocurrencies bypassing exchanges? All exchanges require documents and money will be very difficult to wash. The cost of exchanging via black exchangers is higher than you will pay a legal income tax. You can launder money through investments in legitimate business.

Very correctly said. In my country, if you have to invest even $10 in bitcoins, you will have to give KYC documents and get it verified in the exchange. Most of the common investors are using it as an investment medium. Some of the influential people however are using loopholes here also but it is no fault of bitcoins. We should try to catch these criminals instead of blaming the medium they are using.
1404  Economy / Economics / Re: Why are people doing so many things to frustrate crytocurrency on: March 19, 2018, 06:24:32 PM
I came across an article recently. Google is joining Facebook and Twitter to ban all crypto related ads. Why does everyone seem to want to frustrate crytocurrency?

These campaniles have nothing except crypto. Actually the problem is that a lot of scam projects are also being launched in crypto. Now if the developers of those projects use Google for promoting their projects and then fool people, it will hamper the image of Google. Such a reputed company cannot afford to loose its reputation as it will affect other advertising opportunities as well.
1405  Economy / Economics / Re: Working smart vs working hard - an ultimate guide on: March 19, 2018, 06:22:24 PM
This is a sequel to this thread. If you are interested only in the fat of the thread and the cream of the theme, look no further than this and the second post here.

Many people say that you should work hard if you want to succeed in life and rise to riches. I'd rather say that working hard will only make your boss richer, not yourself. On the other hand, there is an age-old adage which says that you should be working smarter, not harder. But working smarter is a vague idea, and I'm interested to hear what people have to say on this topic. As far as I'm concerned, I think that working smart comes down to creating environment where you will have more chances to meet Lady Luck smiling at you, where you will be able to hit a lucky strike because luck plays an ever-important role in our lives. For example, if you want to find a date to have a romantic relationship with or you are looking for a one-night stand only, you will go to a beach or a bar since your chances are higher there, right? The same approach seems to be applicable to work as well. In other words, stick around the places where your chances of success are the highest.

So share your opinions here, guys. What is your practical take on working smart?

Let me share my experience with you. I will share the experience regarding online work. I used to write content at $1 per 500 words when I was in college. With time passing by and some experience I came to know that some people are getting $1 per 100 words. I put some advertisements and got much work at such rates. Then I realized that only way to get rich with this is to resell the content writing services. I was managing more than 10 writers at one time and all were busy enough with my work.
1406  Economy / Economics / Re: List of Decentralized/Centralized Exchanges on: March 19, 2018, 06:19:34 PM
One of the best threads I had come across in bitcointalk in last few days and I must appreciate you for giving time to compile so much information at one place. I have one query related to this, is there any way to check if a particular exchange is centralized or decentralized. I am asking because I want to know about exchanges in my country.
1407  Economy / Economics / Re: Is fall of bitcoin from 16k$ good for bitcoin and alt-crypto? on: March 19, 2018, 06:17:34 PM
Within a year and half, bitcoin value soared from ~$1000 to the staggering $16000 dollars. Everywhere around the world, bitcoin became the buzzword. After touching 16000 USD value, bitcoin value faltered considerably. Today the value stands somewhere around 8500 USD to the 9000 USD range.  Many new-investors from many countries have almost lost their investment after this.
I think this price correction is good for the bitcoin and alt-crypto as well. Why? :
* Correction is way of setting up appropriate expectation. (what goes in up also come down)
* Bitcoin and crypto is not like your normal stock-market. Rather it is more volatile ans susceptible to market manipulations.
* People with heart for financial freedom will remain with bitcoin and or alt-crypto for sure. Gold diggers will vanish as  soon as party is over.
* People understood the value of crypto more seriously.

Bitcoin has still more potential to be explored. Whatever happened with bitcoin will make it stronger.

What do you think whether this fall in value of bitcoin is good for it or not?

It is both good and bad for crypto. The time when bitcoin moved from $10000 - $17000, a lot of new investors started investing in bitcoins. This is because bitcoins made it to news on reaching levels like $10000 and $15000 for the first time. This attracted a lot of new investors. Now most of those investors are in loss and they may not invest in crypto in future because of this experience.
1408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Crypto growing at your expected rate? on: March 19, 2018, 06:15:05 PM
I went camping for a few days... and BAM! $11k -> $17k!!!!!!

This is crazy! Grin Are you guys surprised?

If you see the prices today, it is now back below $11000. Smiley That $11000 to $17000 was due to manipulation and that is the reason price dropped after the big whales withdraw their holdings at huge profit. There is only one advantage of this, now that it almost touched $20000 mark, that much is almost guaranteed. If you invest at current levels, you will get double in few months.
1409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is what happening to BTC on: March 19, 2018, 06:12:50 PM
hi folks let me tell you what i think is going on right know Prices falling while value is increasing can only mean 2 things: 1. Either the price went up too much last year and is now correcting, or 2.: people don't get the value yet and we will see a strong price increase in a few months most likely is second option We will soon find out! tell me what do you think  Roll Eyes

If you see the prices today, it has increased by more than 20% today. All the alt coins showed positive movements today. For instance Ripple showed more than 20% up today. I think we will see only growth from hereafter. Correction has already occurred and bitcoin prices will not go down any further.
1410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Again Ban, but now from Twitter on: March 19, 2018, 06:08:27 PM
Twitter May Ban Advertising of Cryptocurrencies and ICO?

Hi guys it`s me again, and again I saw this information about the ban, but now for twitter.

BTCTwitter plans to prohibit advertising of cryptocurrencies and ICO, according to Sky News citing sources.BTC

First Facebook then Google, now Twitter is joining, what do you think about the market currency after these news? Is it real or only a big fake news blow before buying a lot of crypto?

Source:http://icowatchers.co/twitter-may-ban-advertising-of-cryptocurrencies-and-ico/

First of all, even the news regarding Google banning crypto related advertisements is not confirmed. Google has not made any public announcement regarding this yet. Regarding Twitter banning crypto related ads, this will not have much impact. The ICO projects her are already using techniques like promotion through popular twitter accounts in for of tweets and that is sufficient.
1411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Twitter will also be crypto like Facebook and Google? on: March 19, 2018, 06:04:51 PM
According to the report by Sky News Twitter might be next:

https://coincodex.com/article/1404/is-twitter-the-next-platform-to-ban-cryptocurrency-ads/

I personally think that this is just a phase until they learn to filter out scams which is good. There's way too much scams going on, I see a lot of ads where you can see that it's an obvious scam (like get 200% Gain Daily, earn 0.1 BTC daily or whatever). Crypto will have the more healthy environment.

i do not think Twitter will do this. Twitter is already facing issues related to profitability and it does not look in a position to cut down on big advertisers. We will have to wait for a official response from Twitter regarding this to get a clear picture.
1412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's future. on: March 19, 2018, 06:00:39 PM
Most of the points you mentioned are valid. First point you stated that one should be ready to accept price decline as well. I think every investor realizes this with time. It is important that the prices get corrected on some intervals so that people know the current real value of bitcoins. Secondly you said that a lot of people became aware of bitcoins recently. This is also true and I think bitcoins saw a huge number of new investors in second half of 2017.
1413  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook Banning CryptoCurrencies Ads on: March 19, 2018, 05:37:09 PM
petition good idea. but also Twitter and google are following the crypto /ICO ban.
Unfortunate news for our community, but hopefully they will realise that banning ads will not make much difference and will only push web traffic away from these sites, to other more supportive platforms.

Other supportive platforms ? More than 90% of the traffic is consumed by these websites and it will be huge blow if all of them ban crypto ads. I think the genuine coins are also suffering because of some fraud coins. Google is taking this action only because of so many suspicious ICOs being launched in the market. Google will not want their image to suffer by associating with such projects.
1414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Old account question on: March 19, 2018, 05:32:28 PM
I used Bitcoin in 2011 and 2012 to acquire ... questionable pharmaceutics.

I stop using, but I have no idea how to log on and check to see if my account still has any value.  Is there a website I can check, a way to see if I still have funds to spend?

You need to give us more details about the investment. What problems are you facing while logging on in your account ? There will be options like resetting the password and that requires you to have access to the email you used for registering the account on that exchange. If nothing works, try dropping a mail to the exchange with all details.
1415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Google Wants to Ban ICO and Crypto Ads?! on: March 19, 2018, 05:30:04 PM
We could have seen that coming after Facebook banned crypto ads. In February regulators asked Google to band crypto ads too. Maybe we'll get anti-crypto ads next, just like the tabacco industry is forced to do.

Anti-crypto ads will be funny with taglines like:

1) Do not invest in crypto or you can become a millionaire

2) If you child starts investing in bitcoins in school, he may not need to go to college.

What disadvantages will they cover in those advertisements ?
1416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good news for bitcoin as G20 says no crackdown for cryptocurrencies on: March 19, 2018, 05:26:37 PM
The G20 has announced good news for bitcoin ruling out the possibility of new regulations for cryptos by its regulator. Bitcoin bulls had a positive reaction to this report that saw prices recover tremendously.

Full article: https://cryptonewsmagnet.com/good-news-bitcoin-g20-says-no-crackdown-cryptocurrencies/

Nice to hear a  good news related to bitcoins after so much time. It is definitely pushing the prices and I can see price increasing by about 5% today. All other alt coins are also going strong and ripple has grown more than 20% today. I was reading threads here related to crpto here and found a post by a member who suggested Ripple as good invested. I added some Ripple yesterday and now the value is 20% up in single day. Hope this continues.
1417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How safe is Bitcoin gambling on: March 19, 2018, 05:17:48 PM
Safe in gambling?  Angry Nothing is safe on gambling man. Gambling is a high risk to lose your money
but also you can fast get a lot of money it depend on your luck. I don't think there really a method safe on gambling.

Well, he means of safe that online crypto gambling is safe or not?
Mean it is scam or not, and gambling has always risk if it is in real casinos or in online casinos. It is true we get sudden a lot of money from gambling and become rich but a lot of chances are loss the money, and if we win huge money in gambling then we are definitely lucky ones.
But i am telling behalf of my bitcoin gambling experience that bitcoin gambling sites are safe to play.

You are right, he is probably asking regarding the bitcoin gambling websites being genuine or not. Most of the websites are genuine but some are scammers as well. I advice a member to read the reviews online before making any deposit. It is also better if you join on the recommendation of a friend who has already used the website in the past. The websites advertising on this forum are  genuine as they are in operation for quite long.
1418  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can you save money while playing gambling games? on: March 19, 2018, 05:12:49 PM
If you really want to save money then you have to let go of your gambling habit. This way you will satrt earning bitcoin just do something else than can divert your attention and not think of gambling.

This a good advice but not practical. I suggest you to start decreasing the amount gradually and if you are fine substituting it with free online games, then go for it. In case, you try to leave this all of sudden, your mind may not accept the decision and it will cause uneasiness.
1419  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does crypto market decline affect your gambling? on: March 19, 2018, 05:11:25 PM
No it is not affecting me at all. I don't always check the price of Bitcoin and I don't adjust my bets depending on the value in USD. It's especially easy since i'm playing with the money that I earn with my signature campaign so I'm always getting the same amount of coins and I know that I can always burn the same amount if needed.

I am also not affected by price decline of BTC. I do not consider my bitcoin investment very much  different from fiat money that I have in banks. One can easily switch them in hours through the exchange. Also, these days I do not play that much and thus this decline mas minimal effect on my gambling activities.
1420  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Are Your Favorite eSports To Bet On? And Why? on: March 19, 2018, 05:09:34 PM
I like betting on the e-sports I play. So I only bet on League of Legends, and CS:GO.
I don't do it very often though, because I'm not very good at playing or betting. At least I have fun in playing them.
my favourite sports betting is Cricket and Food ball. i mostly like to bet on cricket, actually i have good experience in cricket as i was also a good player of provincial cricket team therefore i know about cricket betting very much.

My favorite sports betting is also Cricket. This is because it is the only game I have some knowledge about. I do not watch any other games even Football. Also, there is huge money involved in cricket betting in my country. Most of the film stars here are also investing their money in cricket betting.
