Given your history, I don’t think it is a good idea for you to be involved in managing others’ money in any way, including organizing any effort for someone else to do so.

Polls can be manipulated and are generally not reliable

The B&H has turned into what amounts to a newbie jail of people trying to post there to get merit to rank up. There are some people doing this who are generally helpful and know what they are talking about. However others are just posting crap after the question has been answered.
1403  Other / Meta / Re: Trust System Upgrade on: June 04, 2019, 03:22:42 PM
Remove the ability to exclude a person from your trust network:
This feature sounds good on its face, but is actually harmful to the trust system and the community.

As an example, SaltySpitoon has BayAreaCoins on his trust list. if BAC leaves controversial ratings, he is unwilling to remove after a public discussion, if the rating is controversial, SaltySpitoon should remove BAC from his trust list. If BAC is unwilling to do this, a decision should be made to either accept the controversial rating, or to remove SaltySpitoon from your trust list. This will force people to be accountable for who they have on their trust lists.
I would agree with you, if this would only be about users' custom Trust lists. It would work fine there.
However, if a bad actor gets elected onto DT1, DefaultTrust loses it's value without exclusions. As of last Friday, 236 users had receive 250+ Merit, making them eligable to vote for DT1-members. As far as I know, even banned users can still change their Trust list and vote. Long-term, we can expect many more users with voting rights, and I don't think theymos wants to manually handle all DT1-exclusions.
Part of this is my rejection of the “code is law” mantra. I don’t think there is any good excuse to not use good judgment when managing the DT network.

Further, the idea behind these proposals is to prevent any group of people from taking over the trust system. I mentioned that the way those in the DT network are selected should be separately reformed. It is my belief that someone who has a person who leaves inappropriate ratings on their trust list should not be on DT1, period. With exclusions, if there is a group of people who show a willingness to exclude anyone who doesn’t leaves ratings the way they want, this group of people effectively control the entire trust system, and will effectively be immune from ever being held accountable if they were to scam in a way that is less than 100% clear is a theft, and is refusing to answer questions.

That post was the first, while quickly browsing his post history that did not look like one liner nonsense posts. My working assumption had been that the farmer was not outright incapable of posting something that was not incoherent. Perhaps he just got lucky in what he chose to plagiarize.

<...> and his password changed here, approximately a day later.

In that case account bitcoin revo possibly changed hands after September 22, 2015, 02:57:55 AM.
Right. He most likely fully took over the account at 4:33 PM that day, and made his actual first post a few hours later.
1405  Other / Meta / Re: Why was I banned? Legendary Member on: June 04, 2019, 06:00:34 AM
@OP - did you buy your account? When? Who did you buy it from?
Now I'm wondering this as well, because the copy/pasting obviously stopped being a habit for him years ago.
I would be in favor of opposing leniency until he provides as much of this information as he can, and admitting his account was bought.

Looking at his post history, I would have guessed his first post was here, which was posted on September 21, 2015, 02:20:15 AM, and his password changed here, approximately a day later.

I do hope OP doesn't get a permaban, because he's a decent member, regardless of that copy/paste.  He isn't a serial plagiarizer, a shitposter, or a scammer.  This is another one of the instances where I think someone should be given a second chance.  But yikes, this is crazy to see.
This is another instance of aTriz, gator and many others abusing you and other people who are lenient with worthless PayPal related positive trust. I guess I can repeat this quite the number of times, but it does not seem like these people are willing to listen as it causes cognitive dissonance.
aTriz didn't have any DT ratings (from who are on DT today) until he went into business with you. He was then shielded by you once he was seen to be very shady.

@OP - did you buy your account? When? Who did you buy it from?

If you were the person doing this plagiarism, I think your published should be more than a 60 day + 2 year signature ban.

If you were not the person who plagiarized all these posts, I think theymos (or Cyrus) should take some time to look for any current alts of this person and ban them all permanently.

I haven’t verified all the instances of plagiarism claimed, and my above post assumes they are accurate.
1407  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Hhampuz embezzling signature campaign funds from BestMixer on: June 03, 2019, 11:56:38 PM
The money belongs to BestMixer. If BestMixer no longer exists, the money belongs to its owners.
Huh
Would you feel more comfortable if I said "former owners as of immidiately prior to the dissolution of the company"?

When a bank fails, everyone who borrowed from the bank doesn't suddenly not have to pay their debts anymore. There is no reason why Hhampuz would not need to repay what he owes BestMixer
1408  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Hhampuz embezzling signature campaign funds from BestMixer on: June 03, 2019, 11:44:04 PM
You are being obviously corrupt and stupid. When you run your own competing service, and attempt to slander/give shit advice another competitor, it's showing what heights you will reach, just to find a client or 2.
Perhaps he wants to protect the integrity of his line of business. If there are fraudsters stealing money from their clients left and right, less companies will be interested in paying money to advertise this way.

A well know mixer, which has had no scams/issues goes down, due to a government request. That's fine, no one lost coins or anything.
You think no one lost coins? What do you think happened to the coins in the process of being mixed when BestMixer shut down? Did the Dutch government make sure all these people got their money back?
Hhampuz, after receiving no information from the mixer (they have more concerns then a sig campaign on a forum), quickly closes the thread. I'm guessing this is due to everyone being scared of the legal repercussion that they could be involved in.
Hhampuz closed the campaign approximately 30 minutes after it was posted in the campaign thread that the domain was seized. About 3 hours later he pays the participants (early), and 30 minutes after that, he moves the excess money to a third address.
The remaining funds aren't a problem here. The people of the forum aren't owed anything. Hhampuz moved them for his security (this is my assumption) and he is free to do, since he has not gotten information from the company, or police.
This is nonsense. Moving the funds do nothing for his security because it is well known, and publicly available that he is holding his money. Further, there is no evidence, and no basis for the assumption he moved the coins for his "security".
He can spend in coke and strippers if he wants, the money is technically his now since the company has broken down, and the police haven't asked him for the funds. This is a legal matter, not a matter that should be openly discussed on the forum. No one is scammed here, you can't return money to a dead company.
More nonsense from a one-post newbie. In no way is this money his. He agreed to hold onto the money, and use it only for a specified purpose, not for his own personal benefit. The money belongs to BestMixer. If BestMixer no longer exists, the money belongs to its owners.

1411  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: June 03, 2019, 06:44:58 AM
Looking to start using bitfinex for lending again, how has the site been recently? Any issues with the site or reasons why it would be a bad idea to use them?

they're facing some pretty scary legal issues and were technically insolvent not long ago. they had $850 million seized by law enforcement agencies, then used a loan from tether to cover the shortfall. the NY attorney general obtained a court order against both companies. the USDOJ is also in the middle of a criminal probe of both companies.

so i would account for the legal risks when considering whether to loan there.
Bitfinex was able to raise a billion dollars that was presumably used to repay the loan to tether.

The NYAG action has more or less been won by Bitfinex -- they no longer have to produce documents to the NYAG, and the order obtained by the NYAG has been reduced to prohibit bitfinex and tether from conducting related party transactions for some number of months.
1412  Economy / Reputation / Re: Never argue with an idiot.... on: June 02, 2019, 09:31:14 AM
We all know the saying "Never argue with an idiot, people watching may not be able to tell the difference".

Over the last few days I have been countering a lot of tag-team idiots, and I can envision Theymos shaking his head sadly every time we post.  It's become redundant and boring.

The kicker is - I'm the only one on DT, so I'm the only one that is losing when people see us all as idiots.

So I'm just going to click "ignore" on these three idiots and let them post their garbage.  Their aim is to intimidate me and make me react, but I'm not like that anymore.

I'm starting a new thread for this because I want people to be aware that if I don't reply, it's not because I can't counter, it's because I'm not going to see their idiot messages.  I will let time work in my favor  Smiley

I have explained previously that I believe it to be unethical to sue you.

It would also be foolish.  Smiley

You believe I rape children and you haven't even called the police.   Tell us more of your "ethics"....
You are misrepresenting my previous statements and you don’t know who I have or haven’t contacted.

You are also ignoring my previous challenge. Or would you prefer to save face and admit the PM is authentic?

I am not misrepresenting you - your ethics are "do what makes coin", right?

You haven't called the police because they would want to know who you are on such a serious accusation.  Smiley  It wouldn't make you any coin either.

You are a liar, and you should be thankful I still waste time entertaining you.
You are conveniently ignoring the part of my post in which you have the opportunity to prove I am a liar. Or that you are a 🤥

If you are so confident that the PM is fake, you should ask theymos to publicly confirm the authenticity of the PM. Even if he is silent, it would be in your favor, but a confirmation the PM is legitimate and was sent to you would tarnish your reputation and credibility.

I've love to see you in court, with all your double speak and what if's.

Want to go on Judge Judy with me?  Smiley
I am not sure what that is supposed to mean. There is no double speak in that post. You can ask theymos to confirm/deny the authenticity of the PM I posted above. His silence would work in your favor. His confirmation the PM is authentic would be a major hit to your credibility and reputation.

I have explained previously that I believe it to be unethical to sue you. I would be careful because I don’t think everyone else feels that way.

words from a scammer

I've never been abusive and I've never been excluded.  Smiley
Those are words from BadBear. You can call him a scammer if you want.

You were previously excluded by HostFat, who is a staff member.

i am not sure if you are willing to offer a loan to me, but for me, i would expect a lower amount that is .01 btc.

for this loan, i am going to waive what you have paid in the transaction fee. lemme know the details.

edit: i am really curious of this, not intended to scam in any ways
edit 1: i am possibly subject to delay, if so, i will notify you in advance, extension fee will be offered.

Vod was removed from his trust list as a direct result of his abusive behavior. A staff member agreed his behavior was abusive.

I have never been abusive.  Show us the evidence...

Here ya go!
I plan to exclude you from my trust list due to your feedback on tecshare. I gave you the benefit of the doubt at first, but the way you keep antagonizing, provoking, and holding it over his head has made it pretty clear it was left out of spite.  If you don't want this, I would suggest you resolve your issues with him ASAP.
The above PM was sent to Vod
1420  Other / Meta / Re: A wave of bans: 400 yesterday, 300 the day before. What changed? on: June 01, 2019, 10:27:53 PM
I am mostly interested in the tool - the bot - used to actually report the plagiarists.

The who is mostly irrelevant, unless the who talks about said tool he/she/it uses.
I'm not sure if my "prime suspect" has been mentioned yet, but feel free to review an older thread on the topic:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5032322
I am not sure who your "prime suspect" is, but I found a "confession" in that thread:
I'm experimenting with some NLP techniques for plagiarism detection and the results are promising although scalability is a bit of an issue. Currently working just on comparing Bitcointalk posts (not to outside sources).

I experimented with n-grams a little bit and couldn't find a good value. Low n yields too many false positives, high n doesn't detect spinners, etc. So I'm using a mixture of algorithms and base the decision on the pattern of the results of those algorithms - e.g. if the similarity of two texts using algorithm A is 70%, then union/intersect/otherwise manipulate the texts, run algorithm B, if it scores 90% then run algorithm C to eliminate false positives - made up numbers but you get the idea. Works ok-ish, but as I mentioned it doesn't scale well and I need to do more testing on larger samples.
