1401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any chance of having any "fiat" like system that is backed by Bitcoin? on: December 25, 2016, 11:41:42 AM
I know that central bankers and people in power are not going to want anything like this to come to life; but I would like to think of a world where this is possible.  Even if it's just entertaining the idea and nothing will come of it.

I mean theoretically it could be done though.  In past human history, and even recent history, banks would have notes that would represent, or guarantee the person accepting the note, that it would be redeemable to get X amount of gold or silver for that note and or currency in general.  It worked for a while, until governments and banks had the incentive to keep the precious metals for themselves and overprint their currency to help fund wars, or "pay off debts", etc; thereby making people placing value in the notes in terms of having "trust' in the American/global economy.

Now what would happen if you could create a fiat system where you could just strap the gold or silver to the note itself?

Would it technically be possible to have a system in government where we send Bitcoin, or even another cryptocurrency, to an address that is attached to the note it self?

I know that there are already things that have been created for stuff like this; such as OpenDime and Satoshi Notes.  But, I'm curious as to what you guys think would be a "do-able system" if something like the fiat system were to collapse and there were need for a new currency for the masses... since block size limits probably wouldn't allow for that high of tx/sec.

In theoretically, it can't be done. Bitcoin and fiat will always separate as the way it is.
Fiat can't backed by bitcoin, simply can't be done and government planning to have their own digitalize fiat.
What makes bitcoin interesting because it's separated from any central banks.
1402  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how much bitcoin price now is affecting your bets? on: December 25, 2016, 02:07:11 AM
Its affected my bet, because when i gamble i usually calculate in fiat and i usually limit my bet per day around 20$, so when the price is change my bankroll limit also affected, when the price is up I decrease my bet but when the price is down I don't increase my bet, because I know bitcoin price won't go down for a long time

I always do the same thing, consider how much in fiat to spend as bitcoin price increases.
Gambling management, use only $5-$10 every time I'm going into, small amount I can deal with and stop if it gone.
1403  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [FORBES] Is Bitcoin Better Than Gold? on: December 24, 2016, 10:14:47 PM
This is such a stupid thing to compare bitcoin to. I don't understand why these big wonderful news idiots still don't realize it. It's like comparing a start up tech company stock to a wheat company's stock. It's so random wtf.

Why you state such an insult opinion without any solid statement, I mean, we are discussing about long term investment here. Even if we compare gold and land/estate, it's all right to do as both of it has high value too.
I'm still wondering which one is better for the long hoardings that lead to conclusion, better to have both of them whether gold and bitcoin, even though I prefer to have more bitcoin due to highly increasing price.
More than 100% in this year, what an amazing increases.
1404  Economy / Economics / Re: Trade house for 1 bitcoin on: December 24, 2016, 11:54:06 AM
How long until we can trade a house for a single bitcoin??

1 year, 2 years, 3 years?? What do you think about it?

I don't think BTC1 is enough to buy a house in my place/city, to get decent house it takes at least BTC10 that cheapest .
For now, with 1btc you may rent a house within 6months-1 year. I guess it need more than 8 years to reach good price per 1btc to be able buy a new house but every year it costs more (price increase) to purchase a house, right. I hope we could reach $8K per BTC1 in the next 8 years later, step-up $1000 every year.
1405  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks accepting bitcoin on: December 24, 2016, 08:42:28 AM
Cool, but its still relying on a third-party app to make payments.
We need to get to the point where you can send a payment to Starbucks from your wallet, although to accomplish this you may always need a third-party because of the confirmation times.
No one is going to sit for 45 minutes to pick up their coffee waiting for their transaction to confirm,
and no store is going to let you walk out before they know for sure they actually have payment for their goods, even if its only a $5 coffee.

Definitely, that's why we need third party to handle the payment process instantly compare to long time confirmation as usual transaction. Personally, I never try it before as my transaction not intended to such services (beverages), just conventional trading with trusted friends, so the waiting time was never be problem. But dealing with services like this, we need faster transaction s like fiat money obviously.
1406  Economy / Securities / Re: Earn interest and the chance to WIN an iPhone 7 Plus on: December 23, 2016, 03:54:36 PM
Interesting offers about the advantages of trading platform.
You've been on arbitrage since few years ago such as experiences team.
Why should use newbie account, you have another hero member account, haven't you?
I doubt the site from the first time to see an untrusted newbie account offered so much, really.
I'm sorry, did not mean to offend, just my thought about it.
1407  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Burning coins. How to? on: December 23, 2016, 02:30:31 PM
if the fundamentals are the same as bitcoin you can't just pick a random address on your own, the address has to match certain rules which is the base58 encoding with checksum.
like this:
Code:
Bitcoin address = version + RIPEMD-160(SHA-256( Public Key )) + checksum
you can find articles on how to do it with bitcoin and then change them to your altcoin:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Proof_of_burn
http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/1851/how-to-generate-a-valid-bitcoin-address-for-destroying-bitcoins

p.s. donating them would be wiser and easier!

Agreed, why you want to waste it out instead of donating your coins.
Many people out there are looking for coins if you realize that.

Addresses to burn your coins? Looks like suspicious
We don't know for sure unless there are some legit evidence.

Looks nice but how they are guaranteed to have no known or discoverable private key??

Yes, we don't know if that's true if they actually burn it for real instead of keeping all of it, moreover the coins can't just disappear right?
1408  Economy / Gambling / Re: To all gambling sites. Please make play money games on: December 22, 2016, 11:43:04 PM
https://www.crypto-games.net/dice/playmoney

"You're welcome" - Me, 2 years ago.

Also in crypto-games where ther is a dice game, tho I am not sure if playmoney can be used in dice also.
It can.
Even better, you can exchange it to btc or any other altcoin we feature, in case you get lucky and win alot Smiley

And playcoin can't get you anywhere although are winning like a lot fron their play money we cant convert it too bitcoin too so I think it is just a pointless thing to do.
Depends on the site. PLAY on Crypto-Games can be exchanged to other coins and withdrawn.
I don't know a lot of many sites that I never try before, looks like cryptogames worth to try and many features offers to players.
Reschedule my gambling times and funds to another site. Grin
the play money allow people to try the game for fun without staking your money.
that is why called play money instead real money, mostly you will find something like this in a poker sites like full tilt etc.
Ohh, yes it is different with faucets feature that players need to earn btc through faucet first and then gamble.
Many gambling sites I thought allowed players to gamble with play money instead of their real capital such as mentioned above, cryptogames, bitdice, fortunejack.
1409  Economy / Economics / Re: You should never trust banks on: December 22, 2016, 10:27:09 PM
I guess if the same thing that happened to OP happened to me, I would never trust banks but for now Ill say that I can trust banks. For years I am using bank to store some of my money and nothing goes wrong with it but I don't trust them fully, so I don't put most of my money in the bank, just a percent of it since I know from the start that a scenario of happening that is experienced by OP is possible to happen.
Anyone will obviously, how could we trust anything that take away our funds?
I prefer to be neutral, banks isn't so positive to bring many benefits for me but not negative too that could cause so much loss.
We live in banking system that actually pretty hard to avoid them as salary, money transaction, education expenses and insurance are going through banks services.
1410  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you feel shameful for being a gambler? on: December 21, 2016, 07:21:01 PM
Go guys!
In many cultures and countries is gambling consider as a bad thing which only the poorest and silliest ones do. Many gamblers try to hide that they gamble from their friends and families and feel really shameful for that. Do you consisted gambling as a bad thing? Do you feel shameful or proud for being a gambler? If it is shame what you feel what do you about it? How do you hide you're a gambler and who do you hide it from?
Let others know!
I'm get into gambling just for fun and remember not to be greedy and mostly play on low bet, except for the game I know to win.
I can't say that gamble is a good habit due to many people lose and even bankrupt, so I've set some rules to prevent fall into the same mistake and nobody won't know if I gamble with money, keep in secret.
1411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is missing in the Bitcoin EcoSystem? on: December 21, 2016, 06:04:52 PM
WHat is missing in the Bitcoin EcoSystem?
Why hasn't it blown up yet?
It is still just a Speculation tool, albeit I think a good one.

SO far there is basically nothing that RELIES on Blockchain technology, if the technology disappeared tomorrow - the world would hardly change.
Where are the communities/groups with their activities that depend on Bitocin?

I'm sure most of the people on this Website are hopeful and can see some potential in Bitcoin, what are your thoughts on what is holding this technology back from having a greater impact on society?
And what are your thoughts on what steps can be taken to navigate this?
Is there a crucial part missing from the Bitcoin EcoSystem that needs to be made/created for the technology to have impact?

Your thoughts are much appretiated.....
There are several reasons why bitcoin has not blow up yet :
- Lack of information, not many people know about bitcoin, it's different in first, second, and third world countries.
- then, lack of users/adopters
- and lack of merchants accepted bitcoin
- caused, lack of market cap and liquidity.
After all, the price of bitcoin affected by supply and demand
If the price of bitcoin keep rising, how people in sec and third world countries could participate, I mean, they will thinking twice before buy it.
1412  Economy / Economics / Re: Tell me a secret: any way to earn 0.1 BTC per week? on: December 20, 2016, 11:36:34 PM
If you are a reputable member and have some free time you can try to be a manager of signatures, yahoo is getting something above those, but he is a magic person, its a hard work to manage soo many signatures and check each user all weeks, but the reward looks good. Besides those there is the digital section to sell something you have, an ebook, or try captcha but its almost a sure you wont reach the 0,10btc weekly as well.

Definitely, I can't imagine how could yahoo manage his time to do all those jobs and still become an amazing person, get all done in time. He's fine and fair manager even kind-hearted but assertive that I know to handle the campaign.
That's how you could get BTC0.1 every week with an effort and become a trusted person here.
However, you could still get that amount by doing alts trading or get btc payment from your job.
Another way, to offer your services such as designer, creator or developer correlate to any project on the network.
1413  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1000+ is anytime now on: December 19, 2016, 05:02:51 PM
We are going to see a big surge in price and it will happen in a course of days, remember that last time we went from 600 to 1000 it took less than 15 days, so once it starts pumping and we get in the 800 territory, panic buy will kick in, 800 and 900 will go out quick and we will be sitting at 1000+, some people will panic sell at 1000+, it will correct a little, less than people think, then the people that missed the boat will jump in as soon as it goes below 1000, pushing the price to the next ATH.
It's anytime but not in the near future due to different condition nowadays and last time bitcoin pumped to $1000 in just several days.
The price of bitcoin need more time to set up the current price with demand of more adopters and buyers, the result is, we need more time to reach that price, I thought about 4-6 months later.
1414  Economy / Economics / Re: Best way for steady income on: December 19, 2016, 03:24:19 PM
Hello All,

What you think is the best investment to gain steady income in btc without actively doing anything?
So no trading/gambling/loaning etc.

Steady income more likely to be 'small & secure' than 'big & risky'.

Thanks,
BR Oinas

If you don't want to do anything and your bitcoin keep growing, first condition is huge amount of bitcoin, at least you need min BTC10 to invest on some sites such as casinos bankroll or exchanges that offered loans. Both of them are the common investment which are available on this forum and many people already involved.
1415  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: So You Want To Use Bitcoin On Your Website? on: December 19, 2016, 02:39:35 PM
Thanks!

Most people wouldn't really want to make how to's unless money is involved.

Yes, I do try to provide as much free information as possible to help others and support the ecosystem. Technically there is money involved though, I do get paid by youtube for letting them play ads. I also have a book for sale. But I do believe it's very important to have this information available for free. We need more of it. To anyone out there that might be a dev -- and I know there are a bunch of good ones in bitcoin -- feel free to post your stuff on this thread and I can add it to the main post. It would be nice to have a mega thread of community created bitcoin web dev guides. Doesn't have to be a video, it can be a blog post instead.

Thank you for sharing your bitcoin web dev, it's very helpful for us, I'll keep and try it someday with my friends.
Keep looking forward and hopefully more bitcoin developers to share their project experiences. Best regards.
1416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum is the future of crypto, bitcoin is not. on: December 18, 2016, 04:39:13 PM
I don't think Ethereum can outstrip bitcoin, there are may things to consider before they can do so. I'll still stick to bitcoin and won't go with ethereum, I know that bitcoin is now stable and won't allow myself to trade or devote my time with other crytocurrency. Bitcoin is my present and future nothing else.
Too many people thinking about that before getting into ethereum world, that's why it doesn't grow so well.
The most thing what matter in cryptocurrency development is loyalty inside people, developers and all users commit to trust ETH.
Trust is what matter, as bitcoin has so many users that trust it to become the best digital currency in the future and keep stay on it.
1417  Economy / Speculation / Re: touch down to 800$ is near on: December 18, 2016, 04:11:14 PM
You know what happens when we break that wall right? Most people start selling to cash in on their investments to make a profit and this will push the price down again.

in other words, nothing new.
this has been happening for as long as any market ever existed in the whole world. when a higher price is reached people sell, price comes down (correction) they buy back again => profit.

Quote
We should just forget about the price for now, and concentrate on increasing adoption. The price will increase through these barriers, if we concentrate our efforts on aggressive adoption methods. < Incentivized rewards for Bitcoin use at merchant levels through discounts >

we are on a speculation board, everyone is only thinking about price and how they can make more profit from it changing.
i am not disagreeing with what you said though, we need adoption and real usage adoption not more investors who just buy bitcoin to make money (go to da moon)
It always happens as the price reach certain point and daily traders can't wait to sell out their coins at the time, that's why the price keep fluctuate every day.
We already separated into some groups: buy and sell instantly for faster profits; holders until reach >$1000, real bitcoin users as daily currency.
We need to attract more adopters as users daily spending that believe bitcoin is worth than fiat and easier to do transaction over the world without bank system, but still there are a lot to resolve before that's going to be happen.
1418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Really The Future Of Money? on: December 17, 2016, 10:02:23 PM
Bitcoin has been proclaimed dead 89 times. It has been labeled a Ponzi scheme and a failed experiment. Writers have argued for it to be forgotten and for developers to move on to greener pastures. But moving beyond this rhetoric, it’s not all that difficult to compare the rise of bitcoin to that of another technology: the World Wide Web. http://blockgeeks.com/questions/what-is-your-future-predictions-of-bitcoin/#comment-604
yess it is the future ..well u saw the price of bitcoins has incresed to a next level .well it would be no surprise if the price of bitcoins increase  to 800dollars per bitcoinss. well i hope i get my salary as bitcoins because it has high future .and i am looking forward to it. kudoos Smiley
Bitcoin had become the future of money, it's a digital currency that has highest exchange rate and all of money are going to digitalize or at least has the digital version such as credit card, banks transfer are digital (no physical fiat involve in transaction).
But, if you asked in the future bitcoin would be the most famous and major currency. I don't think so as we have too many international currencies related to first world country and financial economics will always surround among them.
1419  Economy / Securities / Re: How much interest is reasonable for you? on: December 17, 2016, 08:28:24 PM
Up to 10% is some realistic interest per month. Everything above that probably means that you are exposed to extremly high risk or sounds like a scam. There are websites that are offering unbelivable profit in very short period and some people are so eager for money or just don't think at all with their Heads reasonably  so they fall on this offers and find themselves scamed. Better to go with some smaller profit that is less exposed to that risk because you can lose very much.

In my opinion, even ~10% is unrealistic interest per month if we are talking about getting that much every month. Of course, you can get there if, for example, you invested in a Bitcoin casino bankroll and some whale lost heavily there. But that rarely happens regularly. Besides, it depends on the size of your investment, with bigger amounts it becomes harder to earn so high returns.
That's why everyone should consider how much the amount and calculate to interest, bigger amount and up to10% could very burdensome in the long term. For me, 0.xx-1% is fair and 1-3% in short term such as 1-3 months borrowing is good enough and what I can afford to pay for.
1420  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can gambling help you with your life? on: December 17, 2016, 07:38:08 PM
Hey! Good day i really need some answers because its about gambling in your life and other people are playing for it with heart and i just thought that how can gambling help you with your life? and do you gain something from it? does it help you to be wise or worst your attitude will change.. i need answers please!
When I am new to Bitcoin world I Just wanted to try out gambling and I think that  with Gambling I can make Some money by doubling it but When I tried gambling for the first time I won Firstly but after that I started losing my money and that was the bad moment for me and after that I never tried Gambling Again.

Gambling doesn't created to help you with your life, at least not for mostly people as they always suffer losses.
If you have skills to gambling, you may gain some profits and learn how to manage yourself, money and risk.
Gambling experiences also beneficial for our life to gain or acquire knowledge to deal with other people and avoid scams.
