1241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should we ReBrand Bitcoin? on: February 15, 2017, 04:01:06 PM
Re-branding bitcoin will result in an Alt coin. Bitcoin will remain bitcoin.

By the way, who are the we in Should we ReBrand Bitcoin?
Once again : I'm definitely agree with this one (too), "who are we?" Only the creator Mr. Satoshi could say for ReBrand but I don't think it is really necessary for now instead of discuss and solve main problem of bitcoin transaction. The name "bitcoin" is a special gift from the founder, perception of new users about physical bitcoin and logo are not wrong and consider as a great thing.
Bad reputation of bitcoin is not so worrying because others currencies were used for illegal activities too. However, it's depends on people who use it.
1242  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best bitcoin wallet to stake an address with on: February 15, 2017, 01:36:41 PM
At the moment I'm a user of BitGo, which doesn't allow me to sign and verify with my address' so I wanted to know if anyone could make a recommendation on the best wallet to do this with so I can stake an address on this account in case anything was to happen to it.

Thanks!
If you have a computer device there, I recommend using Electrum you can sign a message and verify your address there. And it's easy to use as it is a lightweight desktop wallet and safe to store your coin. And if you have smartphone whether Android or IOS I recommend Mycelium mobile wallet, you can also sign there. I recommend this because I currently use this wallet and I never encounter any issue.
Thanks for shared the information, I've never tried it before and it should be useful for some users here in the future.
As 90% of my online activities throughout Android smartphone, I may try mycelium mobile wallet, to give it a shot, so I can sign a message there. And I've read a bit from Shorena thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=990345.0 which is very helpful, everyone must be started from somewhere, so I am.

1244  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will surge to $25,000+ on: February 14, 2017, 07:35:39 PM
$25,000 yahoo finance sees dollar signs on the charts.  Grin I hope that I still have even a single bitcoin by that time it happens.

But as of now, I don't expect that to happen in the first place but if that happens suddenly, I'll do sell all I've got already.
I consider bitcoin has possibilities to reach that price someday in the future, as long as the devs team, miners and users hold on and keep supporting bitcoin as digital currency to fulfill people's demand of faster, secure and easy/simplify transaction around the world within minutes or better instantly like fiat money transaction. For now, we have to focus on current problems of bitcoin core and government regulations regarding exchanges.
1245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sustainability of cryptocurrencies? on: February 13, 2017, 03:49:35 PM
I doubt that there will be a thorough review on something that is considered not worthy to conduct. I mean don't take it personally but Mining will have less affect on the study of electricity consumption because they are a little part of the community. If scholars will study related to that they might focus of airconditions and refrigerators which majority of the population have.
Yes, there are a lot of bigger industries out there that using more electricity than mining farms.
Sustainability of bitcoin and others cryptocurrency doesn't just depends on electricity obviously. Moreover, it consider has less impact to environment, especially global warming due to it just consume electricity, but others industries, animals farms, and exhaust gases from vehicles which responsible for it.
1246  Economy / Economics / Re: Physical or Paper Gold? Why? on: February 13, 2017, 03:19:30 PM
Some people says physical gold is more important, I should have physical instead of paper gold. But I dont understand why.

I trade easily in paper gold, spread is low so I lose less while trading. Banking system is powerful in my country, Turkey.

Physical gold can be stolen easily, I dont prefer having gold in my home, it is so dangerous imo, thieves are everywhere in my hood Smiley

What do you think?

edit: Guys I have read all your comments but still not satisfied. You all say that paper gold is not gold itself, just a promise; so having physical gold is more trusting even there is a possibility of theft.

Maybe I understand something different when saying paper gold.

Gold account at banks such as HSBC, BNP Paribas or ICBC is really less safer than keeping the gold at home?? And even if these accounts are guaranteed by the government up to $30k in each account?

Save gold in bank is safer than keep it at home, even if each account guaranteed only up to $30K, at least we have than nothing such as if the gold disappear from our house. Everyone have their own decisions, you can not impose your opinion to others. Whether to keep it at home or save it in bank, but be ready if something happen to your precious gold.
1247  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do small investments make sense? on: February 13, 2017, 02:52:23 PM
Small investments only make sense to people that have small amount of money. To those people that have much more than their investment, it wouldn't mean anything to them. Regardless of the outcome, they wouldn't feel satisfied at all because the money wouldn't have any significant effect to them financially. This is the reason why you should go big when you are serious with your investments. Go big or go home (unless you're broke and can't afford to go big) just so the profits would matter to you.

Go big or go home is not a good way of thinking to make profits from any investments. Because all investments will have some risks to handle so it is good to start with small amount and diversify your money into few asset classes to reduce your losses. Otherwise, if something goes wrong they as you said investors might lose all their money and left with nothing. This kind of investment is not a clever way of investment for the longer term.
Yes, divide the bankroll just in case, the common rule of investment : do not put all eggs in one basket.
But, if you have big amount of money to invest, it doesn't make sense to put just a small portion of it as the profits won't be sitisfied.
Conclusion : invest some amount in accordance with your capital, divide into some parts and invest it in several options.
1248  Economy / Speculation / Re: New down trend. $1000 definitively broken. on: February 13, 2017, 12:48:45 PM
Today we've permanently broken the $1000 barrier and are staying under it.
It seems a new down trend has been set for the foreseeable future.

With China cracking down on Bitcoin quite hard and people realizinf Bitcoin can technically and economically hold nowhere near the value it has now, a new panic wave has set in.

Will the community take control and continue to develop bitcoin for the future or will we see more dramatic years spiraling down and down?

How could you have guessed it? 1000 was another dead cat bounce right?

Just another kwukduck thread to add to the collection of FUD retarded threads created after bitcoin goes down 10 dollars

Lol, it's disappointing, why tittle of the thread not about another dead cat bounce? We miss it Cheesy
Well, on some exchanges shows the price under $1000 ($996, $997, $998) but another already get back to $1000 (coinbase)
If you had bought at $980, congrats, then you may sell it above $1000. But, O don't think the price will fall too far from this level. We're waiting for SEC decision regarding ETF, we may have another decrease or insane rises after that.
1249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins Investment: risk or benefit? on: February 13, 2017, 12:16:15 PM
-Benefits is you may use that bitcoin to invest in other Bitcoin services and invest bitcoin is safe, profit good
-Risk is that Bitcoin collapses and if countries and government accept Bitcoin, Bitcoin will have tax, your computer can be hacked
What’s your opinion?
- benefits? Only if the investment scheme is trusted, reliable and sustainable, because many investment programs were ended as scam or fraud.
- Risk? There's no risk-free in every investment, whether using bitcoin or fiat money. If government accepted bitcoin, they will regulate it and will add taxes if you convert into fiat money.
1250  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is bitcoin worth? Welcome to discuss on: February 12, 2017, 03:55:36 PM
Well, what makes bitcoin worth is 'the users', as people keep buying and trading bitcoin, limited supply of bitcoin that had been set just 21 Million and higher demand make bitcoin precious (credibility and advantages behind bitcoin technology), just like gold or diamond (scarce but very useful). If there is no one wants bitcoin anymore, itu become worthless.
1251  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: Diamana tempat jual beli Bitcoin yang paling recomended ? on: February 12, 2017, 03:43:40 PM
setahu saya vip.bitcoin.co.id gan paling recomended
tapi harus verifikasi identitas dulu pake ktp sama foto

Nah itu dy masalah nya gan, ane belum merasa perlu menggunakan vipbitcoin sih, kan masih awal-awal gak punya transaksi gede, paling dibawah 2jutaan. Verifikasi identitas pake KTP sama foto itu loh yang gimana gitu rasanya ,haha (reveal the truth) seperti membongkar identitas rahasia aj, haha becanda. Yah selama lokal exchanger nya terpercaya sih, lebih milih tukar idr kesitu.
Update : kalo lagi gak terburu-buru mau nukar idr, ane saranin ke Luno aj yg rate fee nya cuman 6500 (transfer antar bank), withdrawal diproses setelah jam 15.30 kalo gak salah, asalkan sdh request sebelum jam 14.30, terpercaya juga dari pengalaman ane.
1252  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do you use analysis when play gambling? on: February 12, 2017, 03:31:29 PM
Just want know how much the gamblers who use analysis when play gambling and what kinds of gambling game? And do you think it is needed or not making analysis on gambling game or it is depend on lucky. Thanks for share your opinions and experience.
I did and I didn't, depends on what kind of game that I've played. Some games such as slot games, roulette or dice game which I just rely on my luck to get profits, I don't know how analysis will works here.
But, if I bet on sports games or play poker, I have to analyze the game and my opponents to win the game. Then, I prefer to choose these kind of game (sports betting) that doesn't rely on Luck so much.
1253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We Have A Bitcoin City! Soon We Will Have Bitcoin Country! on: February 12, 2017, 03:03:13 PM
Arnhem world's most Bitcoin friendly  city located in Netherlands, you can buy everything with bitcoin in it.

Arnhem Bitcoinstad" ('Bitcoin City') as they call it, came into existence when three Bitcoin enthusiasts decided they wanted to be able to spend bitcoins in their own town. They went on a mission to convince local bars and restaurant owners to accept bitcoin payments. At the opening at May 28th 2014, 15 places accepted bitcoins. Since then, more and more shop owners joined them so you can buy a greater diversity of products and pay with Bitcoin in Arnhem.

What we will have next, Bitcoin Country?
What other Bitcoin friendly places you would recommend?
I just know about it, look like a dream land of bitcoiners to spend Bitcoin at will and free from fiat money (if you want to).
It won't be easy to convince all of those business owners to accept bitcoin if they don't know how it works unless the system of exchange rate already covered by them (who started this idea).
Nice articles man, thanks for share. I will read all of it and looking for more articles, this island really matter for bitcoin development.
1254  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price climbing fast again on: February 12, 2017, 01:08:20 PM
We noticed it all sort of it will goes up then eventually it goes down sort of some of it is manipulating but now it stay up but yesterday it drops. Well nothing we could say as traders we should take this time a advantage to buy or sell our coin to earn profits so good luck to us Cheesy
Yes, a little bit up and down, usual fluctuations of bitcoin in every day. As long as it stay at $1000 level, it's okay, I love to see it.
I guess, investors still waiting for fixed problem of government regulations regarding bitcoin exchanges and winklevoss ETF.
Daily traders can't get many profits if the price stable at this point, within $900-$1010.
1255  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is Freedom on: February 12, 2017, 11:29:28 AM

Disagree all you want but there would be legit bitcoin banks. Those banks would be the very same banks that we have right now. They would only add bitcoin on their currency. You're asking why would they do that? To adopt the situation. It would be too hard for the government to ban bitcoins so they would just accept it instead once it goes mainstream.

A bitcoin bank would be the same thing as a fiat bank. Only difference is that the currency would be in bitcoin form. I don't know why are you guys trying to make a bitcoin bank so different from a fiat bank.

It might disagree with the purpose of bitcoin but whatever, there would still be people using bitcoin banks just to feel much more secure about their bitcoins.

If you mentioned about conventional banks in the country will add bitcoin as their digital currency, I'm not sure it will be happen even in 5-10 years later. More than that, I can't say. Banks will assist bitcoin if government state it as an official payment which they can't let another currency dominate their own official currency, take over daily transaction from fiat money that lead to fiat become worthless.
What will happen is government issues some regulations about bitcoin and exchanges to protect citizens from fraudulent and illegal activities, but not cover the back of bitcoin.
1256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we have a bitcoin day? on: February 12, 2017, 07:08:08 AM
Every big event or thing, invention has a day to commemorate or its commemorative day https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_commemorative_days
I would like to call upon entire bitcoin community to make a bitcoin commemorative day also.
Something like World Bitcoin Day.
I hope this will bring bitcoin to more attention.
Edit : Poll added.Everyone is requested to vote.
I have never think about this. Well, this is a great idea. People in the whole world should know what is bitcoin, who is created bitcoin, and when bitcoin is created.
Peoples nowadays just ready to use something and don't care about everything behind it.
This can be an appreciation to everybody who render a service for bitcoin development.
Bitcoin day maybe have a little impact for bitcoiners as it doesn't really matter, except for an information about bitcoin in the past.
I guess bitcoin day should be the day when the first time it launched to online network. But, how we celebrate it to attract more adopters, as long as local news in every country do not preach about it, we can't expect it would be great.
1257  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: Info Signature Campaign | Last Update : 10 Februari 2017 on: February 11, 2017, 01:59:07 PM
Quote
if you newbie is good investment and safe, if use the big coin and big exchanger
you can altcoin trade in poloniex or bittrex and choose big coin, ethereum litecoin monero and more

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=364027 <<<<<<(Baca alasan red trustnya)
1258  Economy / Speculation / Re: Time to buy back up! on: February 11, 2017, 01:12:06 PM
Up up up.. pop pop pop.. Up up up.. pop pop pop..

Nothing new to see here, business as usual.

China no longer has real impacts on Bitcoin -- we growing too big.  Kiss
Amazingly, bitcoin price could get back to $1000 in just 2 days, yes it's usual (for some) as bitcoin always through these fluctuations.
I like the idea of China no longer, due to other countries hold big portion of bitcoin now and bigger trading volume, looks like coinbase on the lead exceed China exchanges. We're not growing too big yet, but spread widely I guess which make $1000 become new level in this year.
1259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to make governments accept bitcoin? on: February 11, 2017, 10:59:50 AM

The transaction wouldn't be linked to you directly. There are ways to avoid getting traced because of the blockchain history. You can simply deposit it in a bitcoin mixer or in a gambling site and since the withdraw and deposit are different, it would be hard to be linked to you. The money would go to different wallet addresses first before it goes to you.

I think your identity is safe even if you've uploaded them in your local exchange site. You also don't have to worry about it because no one cares about you in the bitcoin world. You're using bitcoins, and then? There's no big deal about that. Even the government would not care about you using bitcoins.
Yes, that's why I said it is not fully anonymous, If government can't trace it down, they wouldn't allowed bitcoin in the first place, FBI can trace a suspicious transaction in their country. Even if they can't, Nevermind.
That's why government had regulated bitcoin used and exchanges, to trace any illegal activity.
Yes, my id is safe, it's just precaution for big exchanges as Million of dollars going through them.
I don't worry about it, as I didn't do it. LoL, stupidity to judge someone.
Government only care about prevent money laundering, not an ordinary transaction of layman.
Anyway, I know about that and no need to tell me, we're talking about how to make government accept bitcoin here.
