Finally some good news after all the drama with the hacking.

Hi guys

When will the darksend be implemented?

Regards

DarkSend is coming along great, I've fixed all of the issues that were brought up during the last test and the last couple days I wrote up the anonmizing tech that lives in DarkSend. It looks like it's working great, so I should be announcing a test date where everyone can try it out soon.

Next DarkSend test, 100% of sent transactions will be anonymous. Looking forward to showing it off!

I think it would be a good idea for every crypto exchange to setup an insurance pool that is funded by a small percentage of the exchange fees. That wallet should be held secure offline so no one can hack it.

People need to separate Bitcoin and fiat, the two do not mix. If bitcoin is to triumph it has to replace fiat, you can cut and slice it any which way, but that is the truth.

Bitcoin was created to challenge fiat, not merge with it.

It's a serious issue for the Bitcoin community, if people can't buy Bitcoin with ease it will never grow to it's full potential.

I have heard so many bad things about cryptsy on this forum, i am not touching them.

I actually managed to withdraw 1000 grc and it worked ok, seems btc withdrawals were problematic. Which sort of supports the theory of the btc loophole/glitch. Man, I hope everything is ok, but my gut is telling me otherwise. I guess we will have to wait.

I really hope c-cex has not been hacked. This would be pretty bad. I had a pretty decent amount on there, not my entire stash. Has anyone heard any recent news from them other than closed for 12-14 hours? If it is true, that they were hacked, I wouldn't keep any funds there. Ever

I think the speculation without sound facts is just that, speculation.  I think what we would need is to have our devs contact them, which I'm sure they have, and ask for some kind of clarity.  I too have drk there and am not happy about what is going on...though...it beats a buddy of mine with a 100BTC on Gox.   That sucks!  I know everyone is annoyed and that goes for me too.  Its a scary proposition these days to run an exchange site.  Your on everyone's radar screen...and everyone wants to hack into you.   Its an absolute nightmare I'm sure.  I'm not in ANY WAY sticking up for what may or may not be going on at c-cex.  At this point NON of us really knows what the hell is going on. sucks!

Yeah, I here ya. Guess just letting the uncertainty get to my little puppy brain. I guess the only thing I can think that foes in our favor was the fact they, c-cex, were having difficulty with withdrawls earlier....or maybe that wa  a symptom of something....see I can't stop.

What I find very interesting is that today there was enormous volume on Darkcoin trading at both c-cex and poloniex. Price was gyrating like crazy and everyone was
wondering wtf was going on and who was this mystery buyer.
1409  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | Anonymous (alpha) | KGW | No Premine | ASIC Resistant on: February 24, 2014, 03:40:20 AM
That crazy buying and selling was very suspicious today @ c-cex. Running a crypto exchange these days is an absolute nightmare, everyone is trying to hack and
steal from you.

someone just sold 45k darkcoins somehow ok.........

hmmm.... when it first happened, I thought someone just fat fingered an order. Then it happened a couple of more times and thought maybe this guy's an idiot. Now I have no idea. I picked up some cheap drk, but I hope this doesn't turn bad.
If what I heard is correct, then this probably isn't over as the person who stole the DRK from CCEX will want to dump them before the CCEX owners communicate with Poloniex.

Again, this is ALL heresay though.  Who knows what's really going on.

why do you have pool enabled? just mine solo. what is your average daily credit so far?

I still have a few questions about how this all works.

I finally got the utilization fixed.. It seems I wasted 24 hours mining while the wallet was showing 0 utilization, only made 2 coins.. since it started displaying a utilized percent I'm hoping to see more..

I understand that we get paid for boinc utilization 50% being what I'm currently running and the other 50% being based off a maximum of 1000 credits per day average.

What I don't understand:
If I were to shut off my GPU miners, what would change? Thus far I've found two blocks (pool enabled) and my payouts have been 14, 75, 75, and 47 all over a 4 hour period, then absolute 0 for the past 8 hours. So I found 2 blocks and got paid 4 times then completely flatlined? If I'm running 100% utilization on Boinc but not GPU mining, what kind of payout would I get? If I turned GPU miners back on?

So far nothing makes sense, my wallet sent out one beacon at 20:50 yesterday, then 2 more at 21:19 and 21:45 today. Why does it send out beacons? And is it totally random when it does send out beacons? I have no understanding of what's going out, and no understanding of what's coming in.

I have 4 PCs running Boinc all on the same project account tied to my one wallet, and 1 pc running 1mhash gpu mining. I have no idea how to establish what my daily income will be and whether or not I'm mining at a big loss right now. I need to to understand how this works if I'm going to keep this compute power pointed at gridcoin.

I was under the impression I would get 5 base per block found up to 150 based on my boinc utilization, the problem with that is the difficulty is rising to the point where I'm only looking at 2 blocks a day. Does this mean I will only receive 2 payouts of 5 + 145/utilization % ? Nothing I've read explains this enough for me to make a remotely rough estimate of what I'm going to get

I was on c-cex today and it was absolutely crazy on Darkcoin I think it was just simply too many people putting on trades.

Bought 1000 grid on c-cex to get stash started, now c-cex is down for the count. Any news about that?

They tweeted maintenance... 12+ hours.  The site saw some spikes on Darkcoin trading and got hammered.  Don't know much more than that.

there is so much traffic on c-cex it is slowing down.

Did c-cex just go down for anyone else?
1416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: February 23, 2014, 02:28:40 AM
If you are running ~1mhash on GPU mining @ the current difficulty it will take a while to solve a block. Remember this is not like regular mining where you submit shares, here you have to solve the whole block!

Did you specify the boinc install folder and data folder in gridcoin.conf ?

boincappfolder=C:\Program Files\Boinc\
boincdatafolder=C:\ProgramData\Boinc\

GPU mining secures the block chain as you are familiar with on other coins.  The twist is that the block rewards are variable depending on how much BOINC utilization you have.  It will take a while (week or so?) to build up to 100% utilization in the GRC wallet because you need to accumulate BOINC credits, but if you are running BOINC on your CPU you should see some utilization right away.
CPU mining as I understand it isn't actually involved in securing the block chain...it is just a compensation given out corresponding to how much BOINC processing you are doing.  Yes, you do need some GRC in your wallet for CPU mining to work because part of the process involves your wallet sending out beacons.
So to answer your questions, you would want to do both CPU mining and GPU mining because you get the steady compensation for running BOINC on your CPU and additional rewards for every block that you solve with your GPU.

Thank you, I'm beginning to understand now haha. Sorry folks. I have had BOINC cpu mining for maybe 2 hours now, if I go to my account page for malariacontrol I see that I now have a total credit count being credited now. Only concern is you said I should see some utilization right away, but it still shows zero utilization, 0 processing power, 0 thread count, 0 avg daily credits, 0 KH/ps etc.

also, is there any pro/con to running multiple projects at a time rather than 1 single project?
1417  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: February 23, 2014, 01:49:24 AM
Which mining do you want to do? Graphics card with Boinc? Boinc only?

Thank you, but it still leaves questions.
1. Do I need the BOINC Manager APP open and running, why would I enable CPU mining through Gridcoin if my BOINC manager is using 100% of my CPU

2. The OP explains a breakdown of 5-150 coin payouts based on utilization toward BOINC. My mining module still shows 0 utilization after making sure I followed that guide completely. How am I supposed to get those working and how am I supposed to know how to optimize my coin income? Why would I want to run 2 GPUs at full power mining this if I could be using them for something else and getting the same coins.

3. I had a couple of extremely small payments come through a short period ago (around 0.0000003 Grid) which have since vanished. These weren't immature just unconfirmed (I have it set to pool mine).. I'm still at a complete loss and the guide doesn't explain how this works.

4. Do I need coin in my wallet before this works? I read on the Gridcoin forum you need to ask somebody who will "gladly send you a coin" before you can start mining.

Mining tutorial: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=403734.0

Newbie here.. I think the OP needs an updated guide to getting started. I'm trying not to get frustrated but this thread is 100 miles long so I have to break down and ask.

1. SOLVED, Joined Malaria

2. Wallet is open and updated, my BOINC is currently working on a project for malariacontrol.net I'm guessing utilizing my CPU. Gridcoin mining module just shows 0 boinc utilization. How do I get this working?

CG Miner (external, not mining from within wallet mining console) is also now connecting to contents of conf file. What exactly am I mining here if the coins are mainly distributed through BOINC mining which I can only seem to do with my CPU?

**Conf file copied from forum**

Finally, I see the reward payment is split based on utilization.. I'm understanding if I mine 100% toward Boinc I can get up to 150 coins, but then how do I find a block if I'm not mining on the usual coin network. I'm absolutely lost.

Also it says in the forum I need a coin before I can mine BOINC? GC2feRUKAa6uP1aGHb9TgpqbgPVfnTKxdu Is my address if thats how it works. Does this mean I'm wasting my time until somebody sends me or I buy 1 GRC?
