I don't believe them either. Although they are smart but doesn't mean that they are smart in all things like trading. Let's say he is good at trading but I don't believe he is able to teach and give all the tips in trading which is not for sure. This is a sort of marketing strategy to encourage people to try FTX exchange and make use of this platform for trading.
Yes, what he does is manipulate traders to join him in order to get some tips and he could make benefit from it, not these traders.
But I think that's normal if you're an exchange owner, being a mentor of trading isn't mean manipulations but maybe it's a way to encourage people to try trading using his own platform, maybe it's a sort of marketing strategy but I didn't see anything wrong about that.

There are a lot of people that are good at trading and also an owner of exchange but never heard about calling themselves a legend of crypto trading.
Maybe back then, he was so lucky and able to manage to win the arbitrage trading and make himself become a millionaire and that was the time the market becomes bullish.
1422  Economy / Economics / Re: Just my own thoughts on: February 14, 2022, 10:59:53 PM
That's why we shouldn't compete for these two different currencies because they have a different world.  Through our confusions, that's why comparing them or competing is our primary objective because of our government's regulations.  The truly decentralized nature doesn't really have a chance that can be regulated and that's why Bitcoin now has been existed.

Fiat and Bitcoin have opposite features and totally has different nature, they have pros and cons so competing isn't necessary.  We understand the government and we know that they combat those possible causes of fraud and unregulated assets because they all care about how to apply tax in your asset.
1423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Central bank and it ignorance on Bitcoin on: February 14, 2022, 10:47:21 PM
Bitcoin over taking them is simply their fear, and it'll sure surpass them and get adopted in almost every country.
All of this are minor challenge, nothing in this life comes easy, no matter how good it is there must be possible critics over the good.
I hope your country has full accepted Bitcoin!
A fear that Bitcoin becomes their threat to the financial system, that's is normal for those countries that didn't understand what is Bitcoin and how it is useful and not become a threat.  Yes, that's a challenge for them on how to enforce regulation since we know that this technology isn't regulated or can't be regulated.  That's the point of view of the central banks towards Bitcoin but when they understand, it will surely change their mind, look at those big giant companies who criticized Bitcoin before, Google, Facebook, and even Youtube but now, they are fully accepted Bitcoin.

Possible from time to time, if their people keep using it without knowing them and knowing the fact that controlling Bitcoin is only foolishness might change their mind towards adoption.
1424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin doesn't have a bright future anymore on: February 13, 2022, 11:30:12 PM
Quite radical and bold views. On the one hand, I can agree and admit that Bitcoin is technologically a bit delayed compared to newer projects on the cryptocurrency market. However, there is no doubt that the advantage of Bitcoin in terms of adoption and, of course, popularity is huge. For at least a few more years, altcoins will be staying on shadow of Bitcoin.
Because no one called a truly decentralized currency only Bitcoin.
People that didn't understand what is the technology behind Bitcoin will be criticizing them but in fact, those new projects never beat Bitcoin's importance.
There's a lot of advantage on Bitcoin compared to altcoins so only no future people will say Bitcoin doesn't have a bright future.

As you can see, all prices of altcoins were a matter of Bitcoin's price, so how come there's no bright future.
1425  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Advices On How to Handle Failures on: February 13, 2022, 11:20:07 PM
To all the beginners here, always do your best and do the right things, keep your feet on the ground because good things will come to you in the right time!  Smiley

I quite disagree with this statement the bolded part above.
Newbies or even a high rank are equal and no need to keep your feet on the ground if you're a newbie, as long as you followed the rules you can interact with any discussion you want as long as it is relevant to the topic.  We're here in equal treatment.  I remember before calling the word "Sir" was forbidden because we're all here the same member and rank don't matter, just respect to each other.

All input was good advice, thanks for inspiring newbies and I like being open-minded newbies.

Did you know that this Sam Bankman is almost the same as Elon Musk, he is also the most influential person last year but I think he didn't make some noise at all, not like Elon Musk. I believe he is a very intelligent person because maybe that is their inheritance, his father was a Stanford Law School professor which is I believed a very smart person too.

Sam Bankman-Fried is a graduate of MIT University and of course he is very intelligent.
But do you believe he isn't good in coder as what he said?

every deleted post that you have, is recorded to Bpip.org which is found under your profile how many posts have been deleted by you and the mods.
Fixed that for you Smiley
Oh, thank you.

There are 374 posts made per post deleted and I thought it was me, will you please enlighten this matter?  That's why I thought you will see the post that was deleted by you and the mods.
1428  Other / Meta / Re: About self moderation. on: February 12, 2022, 02:03:30 PM
Additional to what @hilariousandco said above.

If you're a topic starter or topic creator, there's no way to delete it but you can be able to edit, move your topic to Archival (the trashcan section) or move in the appropriate boards and I think much better if you lock your topic if you see that it's has been answered or you think that it's irrelevant.  Just drag down and you will find the "lock topic" button.

Regarding your post, quote, or reply on the topic, you're free to delete it, edit it if there's a mistake that you've noticed.  But every deleted post that you have, is recorded to Bpip.org which is found under your profile how many posts have been deleted by you and the mods.
1429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto space is a land of possibilities on: February 12, 2022, 01:48:55 PM
You are wrong, I bought shiba when it has 6 zeros with just 300$ and I sold at 0.00008$, I bought doge dash with 1000$ because im so sure about the CEO Paul Caslin which is a well known guy, it was a fair launch so I got in early, three weeks later this project killed 3 zeros.. I never reinvested in doge coin though after sellin the 2,000,000 doge coins I used to hold but I'm just saying that these coins once are useless coins in the eye of many.
Maybe you're lucky this time because you've invested hyped coins but you only mentioned two of them, how about those projects that have been scammed and many investors have been trapped because of hype.  Just be careful even though you have profited, hype coins are usually good for short-term investment and you will never know when they will drop or become shitcoins.

People must understand the risk of investing in altcoins, Bitcoin is the most reliable crypto asset that can be trusted.  But of course, that's your money, invest only of what you can afford and if ever it will have failure isn't too much hurt in your side.
1430  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Open source crypto wallet on: February 08, 2022, 11:59:12 PM
Newbie here, is open source the most secured crypto wallet?
Yes, it is.

Do centralised wallets have open source too or its only decentralized wallets that can be open source?
It is usually on decentralized wallets or let's say non-custodial wallets.

Quote
What mobile wallets are open source?
AFAIK it's,
  • Bitcoin Core
  • Blue wallet
  • Electrum
  • Samourai
  • Wasabi
  • Armory

But I won't trust the mobile wallets feature, it should be on the desktop or open-source hardware wallets that can be found on this big List.
1431  Economy / Economics / Re: Times Change! on: February 08, 2022, 11:43:31 PM
Not only Wikipedia, but it also seems the story is the same on Facebook, Youtube, and even Google, they banned Bitcoin before and now, they are fully accepted Bitcoin as payment or to store value.  Before only El Salvador legalized Bitcoin and now the number of Bitcoin adoption has been increased.

The good thing is they understand the technology behind Bitcoin and how it will work, and only foolish thing who think that they can ban or even think to shut down Bitcoin, but instead, adopting it and making wallets that they can regulate users are they usually do.
1432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin book as surprising gift on: February 08, 2022, 11:00:07 PM
Introducing Bitcoin to everyone is a great method to raise knowledge about the cryptocurrency, and you're offering them a Bitcoin book is a great idea. However, readers may possibly take the wrong idea while reading it, especially they have no interest and have doubted Bitcoin very much.
IMO, I have never done such a thing in my life, but whenever I talk to someone about Bitcoin, one of the most common things that I've noticed is that they believe their own view rather than listening and show no interest, which is why I believe that giving them Bitcoin books is pointless and wasteful.

It is not a terrible move of yours, but books are becoming less effective because the majority of us do not enjoy reading books and may find them uninteresting.  I believe that Bitcoin films or documentaries with high-quality audiovisual content are more effective in introducing bitcoin to people in general.
1433  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Giving Bitcoin to Employees on: February 08, 2022, 10:51:32 PM
Anyone doing this now?

Considering getting each employee a wallet and sending them bitcoin per month.  Or I can give them fiat per month to their wallet and they buy bitcoin...
It depends on your employee if what they have preferred, a fiat or a Bitcoin that they are going to receive.
They must understand first that the price value of Bitcoin is always fluctuating in the market and anytime soon the value could be up and down.

Cant really do it through IRA or RRSP unless it goes through something similar to iShare EFT. But I'd prefer them to have the pure asset over the long haul.
If you choose Bitcoin, there's no need to worry about this IRA because Bitcoin isn't taxable but I think you need to seek a professional lawyer for this and consult them about this matter, they better know about the government law.

Any thoughts, ideas, what apps to use, wallets etc...
For a free Bitcoin wallet, Electrum is the best choice which also supports a lightning network, you can send Bitcoin at one time to all addresses that you want with a low fee.  Also, hardware wallets are the best choice if they have an extra amount that can afford to buy a Hardware wallet.
1434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People Overthink Potential of Bitcoin on: February 08, 2022, 04:33:33 PM
I agree that I read a lot of stuff on here that actually makes me cringe. People thinking that Bitcoin will solve all of the worlds problems is simply just not the case. Maybe the most annoying one for me is people thinking that bitcoin replaces or will replace the financial industry, which is just simply not even remotely going to ever be the case.

true, bitcoin will not replace fiat and will never be a substitute, only people who are too high in hallucinations expect it all to happen
I tend to agree with this, Bitcoin will not replace fiat and that's impossible to happen.  The purpose of this Bitcoin and the reason why it was created just because of the option of having financial freedom, good if you care about your privacy, and most of all the easy transaction across the border.

The government financial industry will remain regulated and that's impossible to replace Bitcoin, that's why the government wanted to shut down Bitcoin because of thinking that it's become a possibility of a threat to the government financial system which is not.
1435  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How Coinbase knows an account is from a sex worker? on: February 08, 2022, 04:18:09 PM
That's is why never use a centralized wallet/exchange or must be read first their "terms and condition" before picking them as your Bitcoin wallet to avoid this kind of issue.  Since Coinbase is required KYC/AML, it's easy for them to connect those prohibited addresses that could be linked to your address which is becomes violated on your part.  That's why in Bitcoin Whitepaper, it's always recommended to change your Bitcoin address per transaction to cover your pseudo-anonymous.

So avoid using a centralized Bitcoin wallet that required KYC verification if you care about your privacy, an open-source wallet that generates a new address per transaction must be better to use.
1436  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best Non-KYC Methods for converting fiat -> Bitcoin? on: February 07, 2022, 11:59:38 PM
What are some of the best ways to convert fiat to Bitcoin, without having to provide identification to a third party?

-snipped

What else?
How about a close wallet that has multi coins support, swap your Bitcoin to altcoin and then convert to fiat?
Like Trustwallet or Coinomi wallet, maybe you can hide your identity from converting Bitcoin to fiat.

There are other sites similar to local bitcoins that don't require kyc too.
Yep, I'll leave here some that I usually mention whenever this question appears :
Be aware, however, that you'll always end up paying a higher fee in these trades since you have to "cover" the anonymity that they give you...
I tend to agree with these exchanges and yes, P2P exchanges are good for anonymity.
But it always expecting that there's a high fees that must be covered.
1437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Buy/Sell Startups on: February 07, 2022, 11:21:31 PM
Its Initial Public Offering (IPO) is often referred to as an ICOs.

Maybe you will read this (What is an IPO?) first to understand what is IPOs.

I apologize for my incompetence, what I'm looking for is ICO. I read about it, and realized that I have to be very careful when investing in such a project!

You really have to, because investing in such projects is very risky, most of them are hype and there's no real product.
Most investors have been trapped during the ICOs stage and you will get lucky if they will return the investment if they didn't achieve the goal target.

I really admire the time you have spent here in the forum, you're delicately active in reporting spam, busting scams, and contributing good topics and discussions.  How did you do that? Cheesy  I was thinking that your PC/Laptop was working 24/7 which I don't know how it will survive.  IMO, it's really hard to balance the time between the forum and in real life.

Well, congratulations, you deserve to get a reporter badge and I hope admin theymos will reward hardworking members like you even through a badge.

You encouraging us this way, keep up the good work.
1439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Review of the best cryptocurrencies in this week on: February 06, 2022, 11:59:27 PM
What do you think about next week? What cryptocurrencies do you think will have good price growth in the next week?
Do you have a crystal ball for this?
Anyway, if you want a complete list just head up to CMC the top gainer/losser which you can take a look at which coins have been increased recently.

Altcoins possibly becomes shitcoins in a matter of weeks just because of the hype and it's a very risky investment while if you want to have always been in a safe zone.  Bitcoin is the right choice for you.
1440  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if crypto mining is outlawed ? on: February 06, 2022, 11:47:38 PM
or did the fud get in my head?
That's my assumption right at this moment, just take a break and avoid reading unreliable news and update.

Maybe you forget that Bitcoin doesn't need any country's authority or government's approval for mining, trading, selling, and buying.  We don't need any central government for all of these and crypto has been existed without them, in fact, we mostly hear that there are some countries involved in cryptoeconomics.  Everyone can mine Bitcoin at home and no one will compensate for it because everyone can use any hardware to mine.

what if alcohol was prohibited...........
moonshine, bathtub gin, letting grape juice sit for 60 days to ferment (naturally made wine)
     medical liquor
     bootlegging

what if drugs was prohibited...........
need i explain. just watch the news.
Even if all of these are prohibited and while people keep using and doing these, the governments were left out of it.  How much more in Bitcoin mining.
