1421  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the MIT experiment bring a spike in price? on: May 05, 2014, 12:04:23 AM
all of the adoption related news is nothing in comparison to the sheer weight of china and all the huge blocks of coins in the market. it causes tiny green candles amidst a sea of large red candles. this adoption will raise the price eventually but not right now.
1422  Economy / Speculation / Re: RIGHT TIME TO SELL??? on: May 05, 2014, 12:00:40 AM
Very risky to sell now. If you have not sold already you should hodl.

When it bounces up above 500, selling a few might be smart.
That would be a bad time to sell.

That would be great time to sell if you are playing these swings. Have been working out well so far.
no. once 500 is broken again, we are back in an uptrend. you don't want to sell in an uptrend
1423  Economy / Speculation / Re: Naked Short Selling on: May 04, 2014, 11:47:45 PM
It would be impossible for an exchange to dispense more coins out into the network than it actually owns. Any naked shorting would be with fictional coins that exist only on its own order books, but they would eventually run out of coins that the customers can actually withdraw.

arbitrage forces would fail to drop the price on other exchanges  from that exchange once coins can no longer be withdrawn.

+1

Those bulltards keep using their outdated graph to fool people   Grin Grin Grin

No, as dude could expand that last triangle and it would STILL match the previous three quite well enough at this point.
The channel is clearly broken. This trend actually ended in December when the weekly RSI diverged.
1426  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why haven't we sufficiently decoupled from the Chinese market? on: May 04, 2014, 11:10:18 PM
because they're still open and the forces of arbitrage from a massive shadow currency market are going to be stronger no matter what than your feelings about the fundamentals
1427  Economy / Speculation / Re: RIGHT TIME TO SELL??? on: May 04, 2014, 05:28:15 PM
You can sell but be ready to buy back quick if there is a confirmed trend reversal. Also I'd recommend storing the fiat in a bank account rather than an exchange or its not worth the risk. use coinbase. start getting verified there now because it'll take a month till they raise you from 3k limit to 50k limit.
1428  Economy / Speculation / Re: How True that Bitcoin is Failing on: May 04, 2014, 05:21:27 PM
I started to read more and more about Bitcoins to know more about it. Some says it is already failing and some says it is hitting high. Those who are experts in Bitcoin, what is the current truth?
What are you reading? Is it about technical reasons that Bitcoin is failing or just price action?

According to what I have read. Failing because of security reasons, lots of hacked accounts that could cause some to leave BTC. That could also cause deflation.
By hacked accounts, are you talking about actual bitcoin wallets or are you talking about some web service that is not bitcoin? - if so, how is that a failure of bitcoin?

This is clearly the pre-amble for the big rally to $5,000

You guys are here microanalyzing 7% movements in BITCOIN which is known for its massive volatility and 800% swings at times.
1435  Economy / Speculation / Re: Which date will be the next "Bitcoin is doomed" deadline set by China? [Win BTC] on: May 04, 2014, 01:20:02 AM
Never. China doesn't say "bitcoin is doomed". China says that there shouldn't be any financial-institution-type bitcoin exchange service for its citizens and that it should only be traded privately like collectibles.

You just lost out on 0.1 BTC!
What do you mean? If china never says "bitcoin is doomed", then I win.
1436  Economy / Speculation / Re: China Ban is a NOW a bullish Signal on: May 04, 2014, 01:11:19 AM
fun fact: the word "ban" was not once used in a PBOC notice.
1437  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bullish Bitstamp Price on: May 04, 2014, 12:33:29 AM
btce has been below the market leader most of the time for over a year at least - maybe the entirety of its exitence. It has the most difficult, expensive, and least trusted deposit methods, and like someone said it is probably the exchange of choice for withdrawing illicit funds. It is more than just drugs though: there is also hacking, theft, and of course tax evasion. I think also there might be this effect there where litecoin and the altcoins somehow sucks money out of bitcoin.

If EC is broken before we get around to doing a difficult planned and controlled upgrade to a different algorithm, then everyone's wealth will be permanently lost and redistributed. Bitcoin could re-emerge with new code but it will be a reset with different players. It will be a race to buy back in to the new bitcoin. Your investing decisions today would be irrelevant.

no way

if we ever "reset" it will be back to a checkpoint

you have no idea how permanent the blockchain will be dude it will last as long as we need it too

Resetting back to a checkpoint does not solve the fundamental problem of now everyone knows everyone else's private keys and there is no way to distinguish between the owners

Can you describe what a "China FUDster" is. Is it someone who posts a link to the news written by PBOC or a bank? Should we not post bitcoin news updates on the bitcoin forum?
