1441  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is This possible.. Ads to each btc address on: June 18, 2014, 11:15:04 PM
This is just one example: https://blockchain.info/address/1i7cZdoE9NcHSdAL5eGjmTJbBVqeQDwgw
You can see quite a number of "notes" there.

I wonder why he receives so many when other addresses receive nothing

Deposits are often 0.0001BTC!

IMO, there are 2 reasons.
1. The address is one of the richest addresses (http://bitcoinrichlist.com/top100).
So, people are more likely to check that page from time to time, and so it has a higher successful rate for the ads and begging stories (I personally don't think it works at all).
If you check the list of richest addresses, you can see there are notes on many of the addresses as well.

2. The bitcoin on that address is indeed the "DPR Seized Coins 2".
So, you can find some sorts of messages to the FBI and US government (Of course, the FBI won't care about it).

I missed that, I guessed it is probably worth 10,000satoshis to have your name out there

The messages are only "DPR Seized Coins 2", what does it mean? Why aren't there any other messages?
"DPR Seized Coins 2" is the name of the adress(blockchain.org gives sometimes names to public know addresses)
The messages are what is under "Public Note"
1442  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ask Amazon for Bitcoin Payments on: June 18, 2014, 10:20:29 AM
I know it ia probably a nogo for a forum to post rumors, but I have heard from a friend who works now for a big bitcoin payment provider, that a team of consultants has been dispatched to amazon. Signs are really looking good. If bitcoin hits amazon, that would be the final break through....
You haven't been much in this forum, have you? Wink

Personally I never bought at Amazon because they only accept credit cards.

Once they accept bitcoin I might consider amazon.
I pay via direct debit(not sure, if that is the right word) and I am fine with that.
1443  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MINERS UNITE! Block the FBI coins. Do not fund violent underground organizations on: June 18, 2014, 07:04:48 AM
Disappointing to see that over a quarter of the people in this forum still haven't got a clue about how decentralised currencies are supposed to work.  The two possible correct answers are either 'NO', or simply not bothering to vote for an option at all because stupid poll is stupid.

Go and start your own Tardcoin that isn't fungible if you want to be able to block transactions and balances.  You don't belong here.
It's just over a quarter of People, who look into this thread.
There have been so many threads about blacklisting coins and all the good arguments against it, have also been used many times. So, I think most experienced users are just ignoring such threads.
1444  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens if the cryptography of Bitcoin gets cracked? on: June 18, 2014, 06:52:28 AM
Can the devs not just switch from SHA-256 to the next secure protocol?  It would make miners obsolete, is that the problem?
I am not so sure about it, but I think, in that case we would Need a new blockchain and yes as far as I know most ASIC-miners would become useless, since they are optimized on calculating SHA-256.
So, it is possible, but as Long as there is no good reason for it, the devs will not do it.

Why is this thread in Gambling?
Did a mod move it here?

It was coincidence that I found it.

lol op, you know this "one person per country" is probably going to lead to people claiming they are from countries they are not actually from?

http://www.infoplease.com/countries.html   Wink

Ohio (USA)

address in signature
Ohio is not an own country.
Swiss people also don't claim, that their canton is a own country ...

I wasn't even aware I had LTC there.
I mined there, when I started learning about the whole cryptocurrency-stuff more than a year ago.
Thanks for the mail Wink

I didn't read the whole thread. I didn't even read the whole starting post.
I just want to Point out, that any Manipulation of BTC is a bad Thing, like I did many times before. Regardless of your "good intentions"

People who agree to this stupid idea, just don't understand Bitcoins

wondering how the gov. get the private keys from the silkroad owner

That is an "unknown" type of link that is sometimes dangerous. Do you have a relevant paragraph to quote, or a link to a more familiar site? Thanks
Seriously?
xkcd.com is a very popular Comic Strip.

I just didn't figure out, how to emb the Picture(or was too lazy to figure it out). Here you go.

1454  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you USE your BTC? on: June 13, 2014, 07:22:30 AM

Great site and product. This type of product is the perfect use for Bitcoin. Not illegal but you still may not want to put it on your credit card. It's not necessary to pay your monthly cable bill with Bitcoin. In fact, you might even want to automate the monthly payment which Bitcoin can't do.

Do you really think, it is that hard to write a program, that sends Bitcoins monthly?

Yeah, I think a psychic program that can read your fucking cable bill from the mailbox and then send the right amount from your dinosaur Bitcoin QT wallet every month might be a little difficult. Or were you going to just give the cable company access to your Bitcoin wallet with no fraud controls like a bank account has and let them just take whatever they want to take out every month? I have contested overcharges for auto payments with my bank and they have sided with me every fucking time. Who am I supposed to file a complaint with if I auto pay with Bitcoin? Gavin? Think he'll give my money back?

Get a grip. I love Bitcoin but I don't want it to fuck me at night because it doesn't have a pussy. There are limitations to everything.
In Austria with most services, you pay the same amount of money every month, and at the end of the year you get back, what you paid too much or pay what you paid too less.
But still whatever kind of auto payment you might use, for monthly payments in BTC, that are not fixed, Overcharging is still illegal.
If you just go to the bank and let them take back your transaction, the company just sues you. You make it sound like the bank decides, if a payment request is valid or not, which is pretty fucked up.
1455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Losers on: June 13, 2014, 06:58:23 AM
I'm out of this thread, I am a bitcoin loser. I couldn't and didn't buy in 2011 when they were $14 a piece, I could afford it. I couldn't make that sacrifice, I'm sorry that's so hard to understand. Maybe people should be on this side of the fence sometime and understand what it's like being so desperate for some kind of light being shed at the end of a long and hard tunnel, with everything against your odds. It's not a get rich quick scheme I realize that, but at least I would have some kind of prosperity in the future and I would be able to go about my life and not have to worry so much.

But I am going to stop replying to this thread, if you don't believe my situation that's fine. I don't really care, I'm not here to win sympathy I'm here to make it known that not everybody was an early adopter, and not everyone had the funds to buy them up.
C'mon don't be mad Wink
I believe your story and even if I am wrong, there are story like yours, that are real.
You have my sympathy since you shared it, without directly attacking your critics, without a cry for pity like others in this thread.

Still, I don't think, Bitcoins are really a solution to your problems, but as long as it makes you some money you should hold on to it, but don't forget to look for other options. There might be some, you just haven't thought of yet(and yes I know, that is easily said, but it is still true)
Are you from the USA? Just curious since your government seems pretty fucked.

It is still up compared to the price 2 weeks ago.
1458  Economy / Services / Re: How much is my signature space really worth? on: June 12, 2014, 10:05:12 AM
I am in the second month of the PD-Sig-campaign.
It is nice to make some Money out of something I enjoy: being part of discussions in Forums, but I never thought about actually making "serious" money out of it. I think, that is just retarded. Either you have that much to say, that you will get some nice BTC out of it or you don't. You can not really force it without either getting pretty frustrated or being detected as a spammer.

(Yay, I earned another whatevertheamountisIgetperpost)
1459  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MemeIsland-The first Nation/Reality TV Show to make Bitcoin/Crypto legal tender on: June 12, 2014, 08:54:16 AM
I totaly dont understand this. Can someone elaborate this in little bit more detail for us that never used 4chan and barely used reddit and how does it have to do anything with micro state and islands....

Dude, it's more fun to just chime in till more facts are presented. Geez, get with teh program. Make the island whatever you desire it to be. At least suggest what crops you desire to be grown on MemeIsland.

I apologize, my mistake. As far as crops go, Garlic is my 1st pick. Yes, it smells bad, but we all need that extra health that it provides, so we can love long and prosper. And it's needed worldwide, so we can make even more BTC with it. Health and business (sorry..nothing funny about crops today....)
Who needs crops?
The first thing, we need is a space-program. I don't know anything about space-program, but I happily would manage the funds of all the people, who wants to support it.

Sadly there are a few ugly arrogant and dismissive characters on here happy to laugh and criticise other peoples choices and savings. But I warn you never judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
If you can't take criticism than leave the internet. FOREVER.
I am a better person now, because I always took criticism seriously and not whine about how "ugly arrogant and dismissive" critics are.
We judge you according to the information you provide. If you feel misjudged, because we don't have enough information about you, it is you fault.
