How hard is it to write a bullshit whitepaper ? If i'd try a scam like this ( which i'd never do, to be clear ) I'd make sure to provide as much believable data as possible.

I think we should try to get off BTC and start trading Nxt for FIAT. If the price of BTC goes down, so goes the price of Nxt, although the whole MtGox-stor has nothing to do with Nxt.

Sure it does. Bitcoin is crypto currency, so is Nxt. If bitcoin goes down and dies, good luck in convincing people again that this idea has any worth.

If bitcoin goes to zero, i will bet most govts will declare crypto illegal, probably a felony, in the name of "protecting" consumers.

Does anyone agrees Nxt community got scammed by Mintpal exchange? They should have not added Nxt for voting if they didn't have technical skills to add it.

They need to refund the money.

Relax, they are on it, I think.

That was  not the purpose of voting. The voting was intended  to pick up the next winner. Who cares if they add it two months later?

I am calling it a scam

no , it isn't scam .... relax Wink .

Too late to call it "not scam" -- the winner had to be chosen that exact day and implemented.

Scam

When I received my stake, no one had to pay.  At that point, if Nem wasn't fairly distributed and had no code, no one lost anything.  Later when UtopianFuture started collecting Nxt and Btc, people were at risk of losing their money.  I've seen the Visacoin, Shares, Aero, etc scams and I know how eager people are to get a stake in the next Nxt.  I don't think it is ethical to sell people on promises with little actual work.  Writing Nem from scratch is easier said than done.  People might say that I'm bashing Nem so they invest in Nxt, but the fact is that Nxt is being actively developed.  If I had to pay Nxt to get Nem, I would just keep my Nxt, but everyone has the right to make their own decision.

I could be wrong, but I think there is no comparison with Visae coin and others. Developers involved are more talented.

I guess the lead develper is Jaguar0625 who converted curve25519 (used by Nxt) to Javascript

https://github.com/Jaguar0625/JavaScriptNrs

could be very useful for Nxt webased clients for local signing.

The other developer  minusbalancer wrote one of the Nxt client.

There are are others all of of whom are well known on this forum.

It's stupid to compare this team with scam IPOs

When is the decentralized exchange coming? I don't mean the asset exchange, I mean decentralized which allows Nxt to BTC directly, and hopefully eventually fiat though I don't know if I see that being easily implemented for a long time to come.

It's impossible to do "decentralized" fiat exchanges. Fiat is not crypto currency, so I don't see how it can ever be possible to have decentralized fiat exchange without a trusted gateway.

First issue still remains: how do nodes agree on the winner?

The winner can be picked randomly by using all previous  blocks hashes (since the last winner)  as a seed to a pseudorandom generator. All nodes will agree as the answer should be the same

So, this system is highly playable. Nodes can be turn on and of, just to collect the prize.

If the winner is chosen every hour, how many nodes will turn on and off every hour? That will take more effort then keeping it on.

How about every 30 minutes?

This could  be reduced even to every single block (1 minute). Forging nodes gets some percentage and other percentage is awarded to random node that is running.

If that could be solved, the lottery ticket should depend on how long a specific node was online. Here arises the question 'how can other nodes be sure that a specific node has been online this month?'

Instead of 30 days, lets make this time shorter. 24 hours?.12 hours? 6 hours? In that case, you don't have to keep track if the node awarded lottery has been running for 30 days. Just award it randomly to a node that is running at the time the award is given. The winner can be picked totally randomly.

This will entice some people to keep NRS online, just to have a random chance at winning every few hours.
1474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 24, 2014, 08:09:50 PM
Basically, every time there's a transaction in the network, a fraction of the fee would be sent to a designated NXT account. If there's a lot of transactions this would add up to a nice amount over 30 days or so. Basically this would be awarded like a lottery every month to a random Nxter who ran an open client that month. The question is whether there's any way to verify if someone had been forging during the time period to be eligible. Maybe the reward would go out on a random day/time so that no one would know when it's coming and therefore be motivated to always be running an open client.

Interesting idea. Yes, I think it will work. Why 30 days? 24 hours would be enough

Hi Anon136, plz kindly send me back my investment 0.1643 after fees  to this address 1BoM7rt6h2JCCSyAPw3KaztBGj8wHcdcy4

I wish to be out. thank u for ur ongoing effort

It isn't clear to me whether, or until when, first-stage investors can pull out for a full refund. Has this been clarified by the dev (for any case other than the project completely failing to launch)?

If you are  with escrow you can pull out even just one day before the launch

So how much would cost a cute female? Who will hire her for all events and will she have a tickets also to get in?

Does she have to know anything about Nxt?

This isn't a problem, as long as she only have to dress flirty.

Contact me

What now?

Please let's not be that group who use clichè ass marketing strategies and get labelled as a bunch of losers.
"Sex sells" sure, but this is a conference meant to highlight NXTs technology, people go to this conference to learn about cryptos, not to look at random girls.

+1

Let's not degrade the girls or the movement.

He asked for a "cute" girl.

And it's silly to call it "degrading" the girls. Ask them if they feel "degraded" for getting paid for modeling

New Economy Movement is an community/ association/ movement. You paid a fee to join NEM not to buy a stake.

This is pure semantics and  playing with words. Vast majority (if not all) of stakeholders joined because they think they can make money out of it in future.  If anyone says otherwise,  they are either delusional or dishonest.
1479  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 24, 2014, 08:31:17 AM

You have completely missed the point - once our "much hyped" 1000+ TPS has been slowed down to 10 TPS people are going to dump NXT and run (making the network even more fragile) rather than "go out and by a powerful computer to help restore the network" and that could turn out to be a catastrophic event.

Who says you need powerful computers to forge?  And 1000+ TPS is pure marketing. There is no way in hell Nxt is getting anywhere close to that amount of transactions in the next 5 years.

1480  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 24, 2014, 08:15:27 AM
If u leased ur power u don't need to be online.

So I predict that in the future the vast majority of stake holders will not have much technical expertise and will simply have given their forging rights to a pool and we are likely to end up with a small number of large pools (say 10).

I doubt people with no technical expertise will be bothering to give forging right to pools.

If this becomes a problem (I doubt it), it would be much easier to remove this "feature"
