1481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: restoring and spending bitcoin on: December 26, 2019, 08:00:46 PM
i will give one bitcoin to the method that will work. give me step by step instructions starting from my only files were in my ubuntu linux rpc with installed bitcoin core 0.18.0 running in VPS. what i need to know is how to transfer the bitcoins from that vps to my desktop pc win 10 x64 bitcoin core 0.18.0 wallet and spend it.

Copy your wallet.dat file from the directory in your VPS, save it on your cloud keeping it password protected or use a new service. You will have your coins in your PC after you replace your wallet.dat file with the one you will have in your PC after installing bitcoin core in it. Rescan after this, wait for the Blockchain to download completely and then you can spend your BTC by using the "Send" feature in the wallet.

Note: You can only see your spendable coins after the whole Blockchain 'till the block your coins were stored from, in your wallet', is downloaded.
1482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Deutsche Bank predicts cryptocurrency could replace fiat by 2030. on: December 26, 2019, 07:47:53 PM
It is possible to replace fiat.
Once, finances were run through barter, then gold, then in some place chocolate was used as a currency. Then came these paper money which is running because of the demand. If a certain asset has a demand whether on paper or digital, it is going to gain a lot of attention in the markets and may one day, achieve what we are talking about, here.
1483  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: ARBITRAGE - is it still PROFITABLE? on: December 26, 2019, 06:56:30 PM
Arbitrage opportunities had always been profitable but since you are talking about crypto, you need to look for wider spreads and better percentages because there is one major roadblock for you and that is the FEE:

Trading fee - between 0.025 - 0.5%
Withdrawal fee - depends on exchange and the coin you want to withdraw

If you can beat these two, then trying your hands on these opportunities is good.
1484  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin a Good Investment? Does Hodl Work? on: December 26, 2019, 06:46:00 PM
It's the beginning that matters here and after that, all's well that ends well.

Timing, as you stated, holds a critical position herein or take any stocks/shares/forex/commodities you have invested in. If you know when you should enter "the right time I am talking about", then you should decide the deadline of your position - short, long or mid. After that, set a target based on your deadline and get your capital safe once reached there. If your target is small, short and mid terms are okay, but if you buy btc today at $7200 and think that it will go $10k tomorrow? Please leave trading immediately, it's bad for your health, or go the other way - long term investment. Here, putting money which you will use lastly when all your funds are over - is the best choice. In simple words, invest what you can afford to lose.
1485  Economy / Exchanges / Re: WANT TO BUY BTC P2P on: December 26, 2019, 06:24:43 PM
What is if a person need money in an emergency condition and not in the situation to reach any of the 7 ATM available at NYC.

Ftfy.
If an emergency arrives, then an exchange is the only place you can visit. But what if you are visiting an exchange like Localbitcoins for the first time and that's exactly when your emergency arrives? Will Localbitcoins let you trade p2p without KYC? No, right? So in any way you are stuck and you should have cash on hands for such situations while relying on bitcoin at that time is not good.
1486  Economy / Exchanges / Re: WANT TO BUY BTC P2P on: December 26, 2019, 05:50:29 PM
...snip...

Not every place has bitcoin ATM so they have to find an online site.

Please read OP with open eyes and fresh mood and you will get my point why I suggested them to go to a bitcoin ATM.

I live in NYC and want to buy BTC p2p.

I hope this clears it out. NYC = New York City where many bitcoin ATMs are available.
1487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why YouTube Bans Bitcoin &Crypto Videos? on: December 26, 2019, 05:43:29 PM
I think this is a great chance for some decentralized social media platforms to win over this situation, take full advantage of it and push all of those YouTube lovers to come to their platforms and watch those videos there by giving some rewards for the same. Like Brave gives us BAT tokens to surf in the browser, there are platforms which got covered by the dirt of Finance by having their tokens devalued since the 2018-19 disaster. Now it is the time for them to take the show in their hands and turn the tables for their projects.
1488  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Do Women Want? More Educational Materials Before Investing in Bitcoin on: December 26, 2019, 04:38:21 PM
After I gave this thread a read, I became clear to it that women are lazy in terms of finding resources 'that is what people think here' but this is not the case. Women are those who give us birth, take care of the whole family, do multitasking without a single holiday, and are some of the most successful personalities too in the fields of politics, business, professions, etc. So evaluating them is stupid as they can do almost every single thing next to what men can do. I have my wife involved in crypto since I created this account on Bitcointalk and I am sure that many men here have proudly introduced their women to crypto and many resources related to that of the same. And to other women who are not familiar to bitcoin and crypto in general, please help them visit this forum, come and ask whatever they wish to know and we, the veterans will do our best to serve them with the best.
1489  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Aware of this issue in Electrum while downloading 3.3.8? on: December 26, 2019, 01:05:51 PM
...snip...

There is no “command” or method. Literally just click “I don’t have a product key” when they ask for it. Both Home or Pro versions have this.

Command was meant for Linux as it is all command based and I was suggested to use Linux if not windows, so that's what I wrote "command" for.

...snip...

Thank you, I just downloaded the whole ISO and wasted a lot of time while again encountered with the same error during installation of Electrum, though there is no such watermark as I used an activator to install a fake key and show my windows activated; is that fine? I think I should "ignore" that lib file if it is not of that importance, and just carry on with the wallet?
1490  Economy / Exchanges / Re: WANT TO BUY BTC P2P on: December 26, 2019, 10:53:44 AM
Risk in trading on a platform which doesn't require any verification process has potential scams like charge back, money laundering from an hacked bank account so we may face problems legally so better use P2P which got KYC for converting smaller amounts.

If that is the problem that scams may happen on places where no KYC is involved, why to use KYC based sites? Why can't they buy btc from a local BTC ATM in their city? No hassle of being scammed from any source if they do it, I guess.
1491  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Aware of this issue in Electrum while downloading 3.3.8? on: December 26, 2019, 09:19:49 AM
The risk with pirated windows is that it may be backdoored and you may get robbed because of that. Win 10 ISO is available for free download from the MS website. You don't even have to activate it to start with. Another alternative is to use linux.

You mean I can use Windows 10 without any activation? Is it beta or the Professional one? Can you share the official link here? I am currently on Windows 8 Professional. Linux is command based and I am not that familiar with commands to work with, so windows still wins on my mind.

.dll files can be downloaded from https://www.dll-files.com/
That particular file is for the Microsoft® C Runtime Library. You can download it from here > https://www.dll-files.com/search/?q=MSVCP140.dll

Keep in mind I have never used that site. I don't know what you will download to your system so anything you do, do it at your own risk!

I have read their reviews but I don't know if it may harm or have anything malicious chipped into it, so I would pass downloading it from an external source. Which cold storage is the cheapest one? I do not have much BTC with me so, should I prefer a cold storage over PC?
1492  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Aware of this issue in Electrum while downloading 3.3.8? on: December 26, 2019, 07:29:11 AM
MSVCP140.dll is MicroSoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2015. check inside your installed programs to see if you can find it, this package is one of the dependencies that Electrum has in order to be able to be installed and run.
you may need to install some windows updates specifically the one mentioned on Electrum's website

My windows is pirated, will I face any issue while downloading and installing the specific updates for this library file?

edit: no that looks like a permissions issue. i'm not familiar with windows but you may need to install electrum as an administrator. alternatively there's the standalone exe download that just works:

https://electrum.org/#download

I ran the .exe as administrator only but didn't work.

Does it show the full file path for that .DLL? Huh

Yes it showed the full path for that .dll file and it was like C:\Program Files\Electrum\...\MSVCP140.dll
I don't know what this file has to do with Electrum's main folder when it is a lib file which gets installed when we install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages.
1493  Bitcoin / Electrum / Aware of this issue in Electrum while downloading 3.3.8? on: December 25, 2019, 05:18:17 PM
I tried to update my Electrum from v3.3.4 to v3.3.8 as I was suggested by Electrum to do so, from their website. I downloaded it and while trying to install it, I saw this:

Code:
Error opening file for writing:

C:\...\MSVCP140.dll

Click Abort to stop the installation,
Retry to try again, or
Ignore to skip this file.

When I retry, it shows me this error continuously.
Will it be good for my wallet if I ignore this file and try to download the wallet anyway? Is there a solution for this?
1494  Economy / Reputation / Re: 🧠 Warning: Risk of losing money X10 Coin Earn 10% daily on: December 24, 2019, 09:27:18 PM
I don't know, and have better things to do on Christmas Eve than look any closer at some depressing shitcoin bullshit.  Grin

Jingle bells and a Merry Christmas to you mate. Smiley
@otto_diesel, I don't understand what are you trying to say, but it looks like you want to lose your money on Yobit's shit schemes that they put in through investbox. Their ICOs are nothing new to me as they bring projects out of thin air which does not have any major purpose to be served except to throw some money in the bags of greedy cums who will do anything to promote them after they see that their investment tripled/quadrupled or even more. But they don't understand how Yobit plays with everyone's mind by serving unlimited fake volume on that ICO and reducing the speed of the page, not allowing you to sell out quick and make a buck.
1495  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: LoyceV's Beginners guide to correct use of the Trust system on: December 24, 2019, 08:52:24 PM
What can be done when a DT abuses their trust?
And what about trust ratings that are being given for spamming?
Isn't the trust system solely for risked money purposes where we give a rating to someone when either of us risked money or got some money from the other party as loan or through any trade? Why are other things included in trust feedbacks?
1496  Economy / Reputation / Re: Have you seen Yobit's new signature design? on: December 24, 2019, 08:31:44 PM
If they want a "strong promotion" for the Cryptotalk forum then why do they need to change their signature campaign from Cryptotalk  to InvestBox?

Just as you said, I agree to it that they kept alluring users to fell into cryptotalk campaign as it is the only campaign which:

+ Does not need a campaign manager to approve you to enroll in it
+ Pays you every single day (except the days when you cannot send your money to your balance due to wallet not refilled)
+ Needs just 5 shitposts every day to earn you 0.001 BTC
+ You can use alt accounts as well without having to worry about being caught, and even if caught, you can still continue with others, I think there must have been some account deals went through after this campaign showed up.

These qualities made them look trustworthy in the eyes of spammers /s for which they won't hesitate to advertise even the shittiest content that these Yobit guys may write in their signatures

Quote
Why not have a separate campaign for each one of them and not force their existing Cryptotalk participants to change their signature to Investbox?

I don't think they needed a separate campaign because they are keeping the source of the campaign as their website only, so it doesn't matter a lot. It should still be like, they should have discussed this shit with Yahoo and the members in their cryptotalk signature campaign to have a mutuality and an agreement of everyone.

So when are you launching the site officially ? Any plans or tentative date in mind ? You have good marketing budget means that you will start a signature campaign to further promote yourself ?

It is not in the best of any project to start marketing without having every piece of their project already tested and set up without any problems or delays because if they are marketing their product which is not self-complete at all then their will lose on their potential customers while also wasting all their money and timely efforts that they will give behind marketing.

It is better for them to do some sharp tweaks as this site needs a lot of functions added in it, before they start to market their product. Site is incomplete and they should not serve something like that esp. when they are in the phase of building their reputation in the market. They should take a break and calm down, decide the changes they want to make, then apply those changes. Test them all and if everything looks working good, then they should launch it at one time.
1500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You selling to buy Xmas gifts or using bitcoins to buy Xmas gifts? on: December 17, 2019, 11:36:06 PM
...snip...

I'm not selling bitcoins at these prices. Are you crazy?! This holiday season, everything is being paid for with cash or credit card.

I think same as you do, though I do not have any BTC on hands right now but if I had any stock available, I would not sell it at this time when the price is 1/3 of the ATH. I have seen threads where some guys were expecting 'Santa to gift them a pump surplus' but Santa is doing the opposite this time by draining down the expectations of everyone just like a building on sand gets down with just a small gust of air. This time is to save BTC because the bull run is not yet started, and I think 🎅 wants us to learn how to save BTC this Christmas instead of selling it and dumping the markets or using it directly for things that will never increase in value while BTC will.
