Fast up is [almost] always an indication of the bear, not a bull.
Biggest BS of the year! All blowoff tops were actually parabolic rallies!

Read somewhere earlier today: Putin healed the world from covid!

We are unlucky to witness the dawn of democracy and privacy fading away right before our eyes. Blocking the Russian state media outlets is lesser harm (perhaps?) but I hear people reporting some news websites blocking comments (from everyone) and visitors (from Russia specifically). Many news agencies are just re-posting Ukrainian propaganda fake news without even fact-checking them first. Don't get me wrong, I don't support war or Putin, I condemn any action leading to loss of precious life (especially civilians, especially children). But if they're trying to make me believe Russian casualties are increasing by 1k daily every single day and not publishing Ukrainian casualties at all... well DYOR... I was following the previous conflict back in 2014 rather closely and came to a conclusion 70-80% of all news are fake. Both sides actually. All of a sudden, we found ourselves right in the middle of the cold war (cold for now).

I was expecting more out of you.
Dammit, latest events and statements make me think there's very little reason in the modern world. Like this one for example: In Brussels, Frans Timmermans, the European commission first vice-president, has said that Europeans can help in the fight against Vladimir Putin by turning down the heating in their homes. Is he retarded or what? Let them freeze to death and blame it on Putin afterwards?

Condolences, man. That must be a huge loss.

Interesting article on the possible effects the sanctions against Russia have had on the BTC price: https://uk.yahoo.com/finance/news/bitcoin-crypto-cryptocurrency-proves-sanction-breaker-for-russia-122514733.htmlAlso talks about how pressure is mounting on exchanges to block transactions in Russia: Cryptocurrency exchanges such as Coinbase (COIN) and Binance are now facing pressure to block transactions with Russia.
Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine’s vice-prime minister, on Sunday called on “all major crypto exchanges to block addresses of Russian users”, saying it is “crucial to freeze not only the addresses linked to Russian and Belarusian politicians, but also to sabotage ordinary users”.
However, the chief executive and founder of Binance said it was not the place for cryptocurrency exchanges to block transactions.
“To unilaterally decide to ban people’s access to their crypto would fly in the face of the reason why crypto exists,” Changpeng Zhao said.
I tend to agree more with Zhao on this one. But then my home and surrounding town aren't the ones getting bombed. Not your keys not your coins. Same old truth.

3 possible outcomes I reckon: - Pressure on Putin will make him retreat or broker some sort of temporary peace deal (perhaps annexing the two smaller eastern Ukrainian areas already "declared independent" and sticking with that - again I reckon this is only temporary and possibly only prolongs another mammoth attack on Ukraine in some years into the future). This may reduce some sanctions again. - Putin continues the onslaught until Ukraine waves the white flag. No sanctions dropped and could cause more trouble. - Putin continues the onslaught until Ukraine is completely destroyed. No sanctions dropped and could cause more trouble. Forget about it. There's no Ukraine anymore. There's only Ukraine Oblast of Russia. Putin is not going to stop.

Green dildos all around! Russians buying?

Some experts even claim that cutting ties with SWIFT could be a positive development for Russia, as it could propel the spread of the Russian ruble as an international currency.
If hotels all over the world want guests from Russia they must start accepting rubles.
Roubles? Why anybody would want rouble when there's BTC?
|
|
|
I think the SWIFT restrictions will affect the common people (working class) of Russia the most,
True that. Today my daughter was warming up with a Russian girl before her tennis tournament and I had a quick chat with her dad. The guy was in shock: his credit cards stopped working yesterday and he wasn't sure he will be able to pay for the hotel.

why bitcoin is the weakest link among stocks, etc., though? idk
it surely goes down fast at any sign of trouble....then recovers fast, of course.
Market opening times, maybe? Or do we talk weekly? My comment on the situation: fuck Putin! Na, fuck all of them. This is a fuck up that extends all the way back to the end of the Soviet Union. Putin was just a result of that fuck up. Will we ever learn? It seems the answer is No. Merited both of you, because both of you are right, somehow. Fuck warmongers. Yes indeed. Fuck both sides of this madness. My reaction was due to myself seeing the price of BTC...

The further Putin goes towards western Ukraine the lower BTC's price will go.
I'm not quite sure about that. There are reports of people queuing at the ATMs (while the banking system works) why wouldn't all those people flee to BTC? Also Russia's ruble is tanking so why not use BTC for savings? Let's HODL and see...

For those of us who have been in bitcoin for a while it becomes difficult to shave off bitcoin during these dipping times, even if the BTCs might well be in considerable profits....
Tough situation for those of us who haven't reached the FU status yet. If your stash is not FU level yet, you have to limit hooker/blow consumption and postpone the Lambo part.

Getting older can make it more difficult to recover from anything, and I remember sometimes in my 20s that I would go for a run when I was extremely sick.. and I am not really sure if that was good for me, but the energy was there to be able to do it.
Oh also if you become bed-laden and you are in your 20s or 30s, frequently, you can build back muscle, but as you get older it becomes quite a bit more difficult to build back muscle.. some guys do take testosterone... but then that could interfere with your body's natural abilities to produce testosterone.. I have not tried anything like that so I am not speaking from personal experiences.. but I can see how it could become quite tempting to supplement in order to build and maintain muscle.. because sometimes you can ONLY exercise so much when you get older. believe it or not.. I am speaking from personal experience in that regard.
True. I was attending a gym for like 10 years and some guys were taking testosterone... well after some time your balls stop functioning and you only depend on your testosterone shots... it's a bit like chemical castration actually... There were several 70+ guys visiting the gym I trained at and they were really beefy and fit and stuff but I have to say all of them usually disappeared after a really short time... my guess is a heart attack...
