1581  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] CoinMap - Map showing places where Bitcoin is accepted on: October 18, 2013, 08:06:51 AM
LocalBitcoins provides a list of country codes based on their user location, we use this list to get the codes.

Is this for the "buy online" ads on localbitcoins.com too or just the cash deal ads?

Also, how does this tie in with:

Can a private person share contacts for local bitcoin exchange activity?

Basically you have to understand that this is a map. When I find something on a map I expect it to be exactly there and if I don't I am disappointed. People move, buildings usually not.

IMHO, this is cluttering the map.
1582  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Site to list Bars & Restaurants on: October 18, 2013, 07:43:27 AM
What the heck is this:

http://coinmap.org/#zoom=17&lat=37.090462&lon=-95.70885&layer=OpenStreetMap

This looks like a seret meeting place for BTC dealers.

They now include data from localbitcoins.com. Not necessary IMHO.

Is anyone else getting a hell of a lot of "http://mint.bitminter.com:8332 not responding!" messages with BFGMINER? I am using 3.2.1

Also getting quite a few of "stratum share submission failure"

Anyone?

shouldn't you be using port 3333 for stratum?

/cet

In a word..

DUNNO...

It seems to pick it up most of the time and report the worker in the stats, other times it disappears... maybe I will need to jiggle with it over the weekend to see if it is just PEBKAC.

[..] In the near future you will see that i will add both Cryptsy and mcxNOW. So those to will come after the initial release. We are delayed on development of Cryptsy due slow communication to the exchange. But i already have approval of both Cryptsy and mcxNOW, so yes it will come but a little later then i hoped.

Any plans for Kraken.com? I know volume is low at the moment, since they just started out, but it looks like a promising platform.

The way I see it, the trust rating is an indicator for others whether or not to deal with a certain person. That person has to be around to do deals though. BkkCoins is clearly not around. Therefore the trust rating is moot in his case anyway until he (hopefully soon!) returns and can explain his situation.

[...]  Just make sure to watch the Temps and have proper cooling because these Chips get very hot.

I guess the question is how long did you expect them to run when you got them and how long do you want them to run until their hash rate becomes insignificant because of difficulty increase? I realise there is no fixed number or answer for both of these questions. I guess I'm trying to say that an overclocked device will not have the life span of a regular clocked one.

[...] CAVirtex which is the cheapest exchange. It is usually cheaper than BTC-e, Bitstamp, and Coinbase.

Just had a quick look: According to bitcoinaverage.com, Cavirtex is at ~139 CAD ~=134 USD, BTC-e is at ~130 USD and bitstamp at ~135. Don't see a particular advantage there...

What for? You send the coins. I sell them, take my cut and send JPY_in_USD/CAD back.
1594  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] KRAKEN.COM - Exchange Now Open with Live Trading USD, EUR, BTC, LTC, XRP on: October 14, 2013, 10:49:45 PM
Can you say more about why you'd like to have 8 decimals places? I think we went with 5 since it's less of a drain on resources and seemed like plenty for trading.

Well, mainly because *this bitcoin* and I'd like to see my 8 decimals if I send them to an exchange. I of course have no idea what's involved with programming and resources.

The daily/monthly limit is cumulative across different currencies. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by a single view. When you go to deposit and withdraw in any currency, you're shown your cumulative totals and how much you can deposit or withdraw in the currency. Are you talking about some kind of breakdown to see exactly how you've arrive at the cumulative totals with different currencies you've deposited or withdrawn?

My "fear" was thinking if they were cumulative and I deposit BTC / LTC etc. that I could go over the limit, since I can only see one currency limit at the time. I hope, you understand what I mean.

I'am going to research linux For my mining rig thank you for the suggestion .
Is there an easy way to get started with linux or is it just google the info?

I started with Ubuntu, but had to switch to Fedora on my main laptop, since Ubuntu had issues with my hardware. The German computer magazine touted Linux Mint (how apt a name for the BitMinter community ;-) ) as a very Linux noob friendly system in its October issue. There is lots of info on Google and trust me you will google a lot of things when getting started with Linux, until you get the hang of it. It's not as easy as downloading an .exe file and double click to install software, for example.

I guess for us coming from Windows a lot comes down to the desktop environment (initially anyway), so look at the screen shots on the distros' site. For a relative quick and easy way to try different distros I used: http://www.linuxliveusb.com/

1598  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] KRAKEN.COM - Exchange Now Open with Live Trading USD, EUR, BTC, LTC, XRP on: October 12, 2013, 12:19:25 PM
Some feature requests:

  • Have a "Max." button at the "amount" field, that automatically would fill in the maximal, unreserved available amount for the currency at hand.
  • Have an option to get the rate automatically, i.e. "I have 1.2 XBT to sell and I want 112 EUR for them". The rate would then be calculated and auto-filled.
  • As mentioned before, support full 8 decimals throughout the site.

The numbers for "daily limit" etc. are per currency or cumulative? If they are cumulative (I think so) it'd be better if all the currencies would be grouped together in one single view.

I am already using zadig. Maybe wrong version or something ?
I don't mine on Windows myself, but it has been reported in this thread that you might need to restart once you change / fresh install drivers.

Sorry if I missed it, but why are we being charged BTC0.0025 per withdrawal still?
