Bought me a chunk of EGC at Bittrex and transfer to my qt wallet was as fast as can be.
It seems that the forking probs have come to an end, so now it's back to the upward trend that EGC used to be at.
Time for the remaining goers to be rewarded for their patience  Grin

I do honestly hope you are all rewarded greatly, and rightfully so.

Thank you all kindly for the continued patience these issues have required and all the help in restoring order. By no means could it have been done without you all.

EverGreenCoin guy, i fixed my wallet boostaped, works so owesome now.

Minting on Aikapool, but i have to say my hash rate is 4,5mhs, but on pool i see average 3-3,5 is aikapool a bit sharestealing ?

My rig is just 2x 750 Ti oc edition, and 2 more cards on their way to upgrade my rig Smiley

No, they are not stealing from you. It is common for pools to show a different hashrate then what you may see at your miner directly. Think of it as two measurements of time, taken at two different points in time with latency distorting the measurements. Aikapool is very trusted. I am certain your hashes and shares are not being stolen.

Glad to hear your wallet is functioning as it should and thank you for mining EverGreenCoin!

EDIT: Congrats on your forthcoming upgrade! Smiley

I have confirmed Bittrex, Cryptopia, and C-Cex are all on the correct blockchain by both successful deposits and withdrawals on all three.

YoBit is still in maintenance unfortunately.

Greetings ,
I have good news, my wallet which forked back in April is now good to go. I received 2.5 from the faucet today, my full balance staked and confirmed, and a test deposit to Bittrex and back to the wallet took less than 5 minutes. Current block 468197.
Thanks to Evergreen Dev for the layman's instructions with the bootstrap re sync. (especially the part on what to expect while re syncing). I have been trading for a year and a half but this is the first wallet I have ever successfully fixed  Lips sealed. Thanks to the community for all of the ongoing info, exchange chasing and continued positive outlook.
I do have one question. I made a withdrawal from wallet to Bittrex on April 25 while I was in a fork. Info from wallet
Status: 126107 confirmations
Date: 4/25/2016 00:01
To: EN7mzvMupMkwtMXhTWM2uTukrvBUEdQqeK
Debit: -3508.00 EGC
Transaction fee: -0.0002 EGC
Net amount: -3508.0002 EGC
Transaction ID: d11ad541b93cc9de2e1f26eff5f4d8aa9acdf2f9ae40cb2ad0c873fd5a3195f0
I was hoping that they would show up in my Bittrex wallet today, but they haven't. Is it possible to recover these coins?
Ps. Evergreencoin dev, your composure and dedication throughout the last month in what could be considered a crisis is commendable and indicates strong leadership. I will be staying on board.  Cool

Greetings boieemassab,

First, thanks for the kind words. The vast majority of the EverGreenCoin community has been amazingly supportive and proved to be, once again, the coin's most valuable asset. The network issues would have easily dragged on for much longer if it was not for the readiness and willingness for both upgrading and the, for many of us, numerous resyncing that had to take place to give the correct blockchain the strong majority it now has. It could have not been this way without every community member's tolerance, diligence, and persistence. They are the ones that deserve the accolades and thanks. They all have mine, yourself included.

I do understand how laymen or non-technical people are very much and very easily left behind in many coin's communities and perhaps in crypto in general. I do strongly feel this is a hurdle cryto must overcome before mass adoption will take place. For years I have volunteered at my local library teaching free computer classes to many, sometimes mentally handicapped, children and adults. With this I have gained a deep understanding of the frustration and confusion that can easily come from the many things technically savvy people take for granted as common sense but in reality, the use of these machines are not common for us at all. These are very new tools in our evolutionary tool belt. I am very pleased anytime I can help someone better understand and use these tools. To teach is to learn twice over.

With your Bittrex matter, I suspect Bittrex may need to run a repairwallet, I will contact Richie and ask him to do so.

Thank you for staying on board. I assure you that you will not regret your decision to do so.

C-Cex is now resyncing to the correct chain.

EDIT: and they are removing the peers.dat and not using any addnodes.

Only 1 work node for v1.2.1?

Code:
addnode=108.61.216.195:5757

aika ...

remove ALL addnodes in the conf ... all of them ...

the only seeds the wallets needs to START syncing from - are the official ones ... they are all on the right chain ...

it will get the current peers from those wallets - and kick in the sync further ... you know that mate ...

do NOT add any nodes to the conf ... just let the latest wallet 1.2.1.0 do its thing ..

we really appreciate your support with this ...

tanx mate ...

#crysx

Yes, crysx is right. Given the recent network issues, I would feel a lot better if everyone refrained from addnodes and just let the hard coded DNS seednodes do their job.

I would greatly appreciate it as well.

I took some screenshots walking through verifying an EverGreenCoin wallet is on the correct blockchain and made a small instruction set. It should take you less than 15 minutes to conduct this test and I hope these instructions are found useful. I kindly ask you, please do find the time to do so if you haven't recently verified your blockchain by a similar method as outlined here or by entering the faucet.

These screenshots are taken from a Linux machine. You may see slight variations in your OS of choice, but the logic remains the same. First, take a look at your EverGreenCoin wallet. To conduct this test, we need both the "Statistics" button/tab and the "Block Explorer" button/tab within your EverGreenCoin wallet. You may not see these tabs initially.

To gain access to these two tabs we need, "Statistics" and "Block Explorer", we have a few options. We can drag and expand the window so it is wide enough, we can click the small green sliver at the extreme right of the toolbar, or we can just simply maximize the entire window.

"Statistics" and "Block Explorer"
not visible.

Toolbar expanded,
revealing the "Statistics" and "Block Explorer".

Window widened or maximized,
revealing the "Statistics" and "Block Explorer".

Now that we have access to the buttons/tabs we need, click on the "Statistics" button/tab so we can observe where this copy of the blockchain is at. This is measured in "Block Height".

We can see that this wallet is at Block Height 465738 at the time I took this screenshot and I will use that number for this example. Take note of that number you see besides the "Block Height" label. The number you see will be different, hopefully slightly higher. By what degree higher will be determined by what time you conduct this test in relation to what time I made the screenshot.

Now we take that noted number, the Block Height this wallet is at, over to the "Block Explorer" tab. Input the Block Height number into the box in the upper left. In this example I input the 465738 number I noted from the Statistics tab. After you have input the number you have noted, your block height, you have noted, click the "Jump to Block" button. Your wallet will output some information about the block. What we are interested in is the "Block Hash".

Leave your EverGreenCoin wallet open and as it is one the block explorer. Open a web browser of your choice and navigate to http://transactions.evergreencoin.org (http://158.69.205.238:3001/). This is the official EverGreenCoin Block Explorer. We are going to use this Block Explorer to compare the Block Hash your wallet has for that specific block number you noted. I will continue using the 465738 number for my example but, you want to use the number you noted from the Statistics tab.

Input the number you noted from the Statistics tab in the search text field. Then press the search button and wait for the results.

When the results are returned, look at the block hash the online block explorer returns. This is labeled "EGC block:" and will be directly below the search text field.

What we need to do is compare this long string of characters, the block hash, to that of which your wallet has and verify they are the same. You do not need to painstakingly compare the entire string. Only comparing the first 5 or 6 characters and the last 5 or 6 characters will suffice.

If the block hash the block explorer tells us is the same as the block hash your wallet tells us, congratulations you have just verified your EverGreenCoin wallet is on the correct blockchain. If the block hash does not match, take a moment to verify you did in fact compare the same block number (aka "Block Height"). In the unfortunate even you find you do have a different block hash for the same block number than what the online block explorer has returned, you are in a fork. Please close your EverGreenCoin wallet and do not open it until you are ready to resync to the correct chain. Leaving your wallet open when we have determined it is in a fork only helps the incorrect fork gain strength, so please promptly close it. Following the directions in this post will get you back on the correct blockchain. If you are not on version 1.2.1, please do so before you resync. Version 1.2.1 has measures in it that will help mitigate you from getting in a fork again and is in yours and the network's best interest. The entire EGC network thanks you for taking the time to do so.

In addition to the above test, you may wish to enter the official faucet. This is an easy and rewarding way to verify you are on the correct blockchain. I process payouts at both 12 AM and 12 PM eastern standard time. If you receive your payout, you are on the correct blockchain. Do not be alarmed if this does not happen precisely at 12 AM or 12 PM EST. Please allow me a small window as I do inspect the entries in the database before initiating the script that sends payments. Sometimes fictitious entries are made and I do not want to waste my own or the foundation's coins on people that wish to only exploit the faucet. I will increase the payout amount now also as a show of thanks for verifying you are on the correct blockchain but please, only enter once per round. The fictitious entries only slow down the payments and I will not pay any entry I can link to any fictitious entries. Fortunately this has not currently been as large of an issue as it has in the past.

Thank you all for taking the time, by ways of verifying block hashes I outlined here and/or by simply entering the faucet, to verify you are on the correct blockchain and not supporting a fork. The weaker forks become, the less likely they are to pull other people into it.

Damn, but it staking iam getting staked coins

Yes, sorry to say, you are in a fork and not getting real staked coins. You and the other forked wallets are just passing back and forth PoS blocks. Please close your wallet and do not open it until you are ready to resync to the correct blockchain. Following the instructions in this post will get you on the correct blockchain. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Out of curiosity, how many peers do you have on the fork?
1591  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EGC] EverGreenCoin | X15 PoW/PoS | NO premine / NO ICO | Foundation on: June 08, 2016, 01:16:05 PM
I have successfully deposited and withdrew EverGreenCoin from Bittrex. They are back on the correct blockchain.

I am now having issues resyncing wallet 1.2.1. for Windows (running W 8.1 64Bit)

Stuck on block 457283.

Do I need to completely download the blockchain again on version 1.2.1?
Any advice or recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Portdavenport Wink

Hi Portdavenport,

If you are stuck that far behind (current block height is 464768), I would say you have peered with wallets that are in an incorrect fork still. To correct from this, yes please do a complete resync. There is a bootstrap at block height 460949 (6th Jun 2016 12:41:29) that will expedite resyncing for you. But we want to be sure you do not peer with these same peers again. Follow these steps:

1, Close your EverGreenCoin wallet.
2, Navigate to %appdata%/EverGreenCoin within Windows Explorer. (otherwise stated, C:\Users\<Windows User>\AppData\Roaming\EverGreenCoin)
3, Delete everything in that folder except your wallet.dat file.
4, Download the bootstrap compressed archive.
5, Extract the bootstrap.dat from within the downloaded bootstrap.zip into that same folder you just deleted everything except your wallet.dat file.
6, Launch your EverGreenCoin v1.2.1 wallet.

Bootstrapping the blockchain will take about 2 hours, depending on your system. The splash screen will show this entire time. It has not frozen, do not ctrl-alt-del kill it. Allow it to run its course. If you are curious to see the how far it has progressed, you will notice a file called blk0001.dat in that data directory we have been working in. That file will be increasing in size steadily. When it reaches the same size as the bootstrap.dat file, bootstrapping is complete. Your EverGreenCoin wallet will appear now and get new peers from the seednodes and download the remaining 2 days of the blockchain.

I hope that helps Portdavenport. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to ask or state them.

I've forked again... Again.

Wallet going offline until fixed and then I'm selling the rest...

Sorry to hear that, both your forking and your intent to sell.

I do thank you for noticing you had forked and closing the wallet as to not support an incorrect fork.

Bittrex EGC Wallet under maintenance once again  Sad

I talked to richie... he's re-syncing again

Thank you for initiating this.

EDIT: I asked Richie to delete any peers.dat and addnodes also so he only gets peers from the hardcoded seednodes. 21 of the 29 peers to the seednodes are upgraded as of now.

Forgot to mention bootstrap+resynch worked fine.

Pleased to hear it went well for you frostminer. Thank you for taking the time to both do so and sharing your success.

Are any exchanges working?

I have not verified any in a couple of days. Sorry, my plate has been full. I will do some tests and report my findings promptly.

EDIT: Cryptopia deposit failed.
EDIT 2: YoBit in maintenance. Should have guessed.
EDIT 3: Bittrex, "The last block update occurred 1188 minutes ago."
EDIT 4: C-Cex is way to far behind in block height.

Negative crackfoo. I usually can get the fastest attention from c-cex on skype. Pursuing this minute.

@EverGreenCoin:

This coin is too good to pass up solely because of these fork issues however annoying they might be. You guys will solve this eventually.

More info:

My "good" wallet that had staking disabled and I haven't mining with/to it also forked again at block 461516.

So now I know nodes can wander off to wrong forks even without any form of coin generation.

It basically stopped syncing and shows that it's 203 blocks behind but that's just keep increasing as blocks are being generated on the correct fork.

Checking the debug.log I have plenty of this:

received block 000000272a378005f92d
Misbehaving: 149.202.49.99:5757 (0 -> 100) DISCONNECTING
disconnecting node egc-seed5.granitecoin.com
ERROR: ProcessBlock() : block with too little proof-of-work

And a ton of these from even before the fork:

trying connection egc-seed1.granitecoin.com lastseen=0.0hrs
connected egc-seed1.granitecoin.com
send version message: version 70000, blocks=461605, us=0.0.0.0:0, them=51.254.216.25:5757, peer=51.254.216.25:5757
socket closed
disconnecting node egc-seed1.granitecoin.com

and:

trying connection egc-seed5.granitecoin.com lastseen=0.0hrs
connected egc-seed5.granitecoin.com
send version message: version 70000, blocks=461660, us=0.0.0.0:0, them=149.202.49.99:5757, peer=149.202.49.99:5757
socket recv error 10054
disconnecting node egc-seed5.granitecoin.com

These socket closings are suspicios to me. I don't have that for other coins and as I mentioned earlier these are happening even if I'm on the right fork.

Some more interesting clues, thank you for bringing them to attention.  It would make sense that wallets that are not generating can wonder with peers, but it is a good 'process of elimination' fact to be known that you proved.

Initially I could not find the 10054 error code you mentioned. I then found that in log files of windows wallets. But it only appears the error codes must not be "standardized" across OS's as Linux wallets use code 104. The fact you have not seen this on other coins is, as you say, the worrisome fact. Possibly suggesting some underlying poor communication between nodes. Which may explain a lot here.

Again, thank you for the observations. I will continue to investigate.
1599  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EGC] EverGreenCoin | X15 PoW/PoS | NO premine / NO ICO | Foundation on: June 07, 2016, 07:10:25 AM
Some more info to potentially help figure out the problem:

I resynced from scratch two different wallets on different computers and networks and forced both wallets to only use crysx's granitecoin nodes (thanks crysx) because they seem to be always on the right fork.

One wallet for staking, one for mining (staking disabled).

About half a day ago the staking wallet forked. Okay, I resynced it and disabled staking and it's working fine since. We'll see if it wanders off without staking and mining (unlikely).

And now, a few hours ago the other wallet I was mining to forked. The forked wallet is still connected to the same nodes as the one on the correct chain and the forked wallet says it's synced while it's several hundred blocks off and it's staying there for hours. The debug.log says I get disconnected from the nodes periodically with socket recv error 10054 but it reconnects prompty anyway. Note that same error is happening just as frequently on the "good" wallet.

I could still mine and advance the wrong fork while it's connected to the "good nodes". I get that it should eventually make its way back on the right fork but I'm not sure if that's a good idea instead of refusing connections to wrong forks because it doesn't seem to get back there especially after hundreds of blocks on the forked chain.

Either way, I've never seen anything like this before.

Ok, this is good info and I thank you for taking the time to do the forensics to uncover it, summarizing, and sharing it. The seednodes on granite's network have not been perfectly immune to the incorrect forks but, we are very diligently watching all seednodes and bringing them off the network quickly if they do wonder. I too thank crysx and the fact these occurrences do seem to be less and less. We were on a roll with them specifically, up until a few hours ago.

I noticed perhaps the same fork you mentioned half a day+ ago. I was mining to the faucets wallet witch actually was/is staking the small amount it holds. When I noticed the nethash and difficulty sharply decrease and sure enough, fork. I will follow your example and disable staking when mining. I did not take not of what peers it had before a began its all to familiar resync routine. On that note and because of that, a more recent (block height 460949) bootstrap has been made available should anyone be in need of it.

Yes, I do not think it will reorganize hundreds of blocks. I have seen the same as you described. The most I have seen it reorganize is ~60 blocks, which I just witnessed a reorganization of just over 40. Thank you for fortifying only the correct blockchain.

Thank you to all of you that have been going threw this ordeal with little complaint. Those who have had much complaint, I do understand your frustration and cannot say I blame you for your words, however harsh. A hopefully final resolution is in the works. Please continue to bear with us. Once it is ready to test, it will take much testing and then, compiled for everyone.

The block explorer is now back online also. Again, sorry for that outage.
