161  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 28, 2021, 10:50:57 AM
Now the Australian domestic season has been hit by COVID. The match between Queensland Bulls and Tasmanian Tigers was abandoned, after 4 new cases were reported in Queensland. To clarify, none of the players or their contacts were infected, but Tasmania refused to continue with the tour and returned home. All the Shield matches involving New South Wales and Victoria are currently on hold because of the ongoing pandemic in these states. Queensland becomes the third state to join the list. The other three first class sides (Western, Southern and Tasmania) haven't reported any cases from their territories.

^^^ Hardik is a good addition to the Indian team when he is 100% fit. The problem is that for quite some time he has been struggling with injury issues and he is useless if he can't bowl in the middle overs. Unless he scores a few half centuries in the remaining matches for the Mumbai Indians, I don't think that he will be considered in the playing XI for the T20 World Cup. BTW, just three more weeks to go before the qualifier stage of the World Cup starts. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh needs to play the qualifiers, since their ranking was low.
163  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Karnataka ( A state in India ) they introduced bill in assembly to ban o.gamblin on: September 28, 2021, 07:19:32 AM
Maybe their income from the local casino is reduced because online gambling has become popular, especially in this pandemic.
So they decide to make that law to force online gambling but if they do not do the same with the offline casino, that will not work because people will still play gambling and go to the offline casino.
But I do not think that migrating to other countries can solve this problem as we do not know the conditions of that country.
So there is no other way for us just to follow their law.

If this is the real reason for the ban, then I won't be surprised. In India, a lot of things are banned every now and then, just because they don't align with the business interests of the politicians. Take the vaccination against COVID 19 as an example. Sputnik V applied for EUA almost 7 months ago. But still, they are not allowed full access, because the ruling party politicians are having a business interest in the competitor (COVAXIN, manufactured by Bharat Biotech). Sputnik V is having an efficacy of 92% compared to 60% for CoVaxin, but the Indian government has so far only allowed trial vaccination with Sputnik V.
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitfinex Today Spent Almost $23.6 Million Fees For a Single Ethereum Transaction on: September 28, 2021, 06:47:44 AM
It was a mistake from their part. There is no other way something like this can happen. But Bitfinex is a very experienced exchange and they are operating for many years now. For such large-scale transactions, there may be multiple verifications and audits. Did this escaped everyone's notice? BTW, now it depends on the miner. If he refuses to send back the coins, then Bitfinex will have to add $24 million as "miscellaneous expenses" in their balance sheet for the third quarter. Very unfortunate incident really.
165  Economy / Economics / Re: Africa’s crypto market has grown by more than 1,200% since 2020: Chainalysis on: September 28, 2021, 05:38:07 AM
as a person living in africa i must say that in the last few months i have seen several people from my country buy and use cryptocurrencies and there are also people in my country who mine cryptocurrencies, this is something fantastic that even last year was very difficult to walk on the street and hearing people talking about bitcoin... it shows that in Africa the popularity of cryptocurrencies is growing. although ATM bitcoins are not growing, nor are the number of exchanges and stores that accept bitcoin as a payment method.

I guess inflation is quite high in African nations and it makes sense to invest some amount in cryptocurrency. That said, I am not sure how viable are mining operations in African nations. First of all, they need to import the equipment (not just the mining rigs, but also cooling systems and other accessories) from China. And then the supply of electricity is going to be another major issue. Unless the miners can generate their own electricity (using solar panels or some other method), they may face difficulty in running the mining operation 24x7.
166  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 28, 2021, 04:45:54 AM
Their team bonding, captaincy, vacuum, losing-winning etc were not the point of my post tho.

My motive was to point out the Sanju's consistency with the bat and his spot in the T-20 WC squad. Considering what's happening with the Mumbai Indian (Ishan +Sky poor form)

Be careful when you associate the word "consistency" with Sanju Samson. I agree that he has scored runs recently. But from what I have observed in the past, his good patch lasts only for 4-5 matches and after that he will suffer from a lack of form for the next 4-5 matches. The again his good patch will reappear. This is a never-ending cycle for Samson. And regarding Mumbai Indians, it is not right to blame everything on Ishan and SKY. What about the Pandya sisters? They are also not contributing anything to the team.
167  Economy / Economics / Re: How has inflation affected your savings and investing? on: September 27, 2021, 05:38:35 PM
Inflation is so high that even your savings are reduced that you can't get anything worthing it in the market. The cost of goods have been affected and you see even your salary goods for buying monthly needs and just like that in turns every month. In the past, you could save some money from salary but not that old ways anymore because cost of products have gone up and you have to buy to survive. You can't talk of savings now if you don't have multiple income. Some products have increased 100% in two years while salary is still same amount with no increase, so how is savings possible in such situation.

In which sector are you working? During the last 4-5 years, salaries in white collar sector has increased by 8% to 10% on average (per year, in USD terms), although the pandemic has once again caused a downturn since 2020. For the blue collar jobs, the increase has been even more noticeable. If your salary hasn't increased that much, then you are missing out on the opportunities. Take my advice and change your job. No matter whatever work conditions your current employer is offering, low salary makes them worthless.
168  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: September 27, 2021, 02:40:58 PM
This statement first came from the Indian Women camp (senior players), even some of them mentioned this in Ashwin's channel. That's why they are advocating for 4-5 teams only. I also in favor of starting with 4-5 teams at start then adding more team, may be next season. One thing is sure, quality will increase in women team after this, guess no one can deny that.

In the end, money matters. Indian women's cricket is in such poor shape because the salaries offered to the players are too low for them to remain as professionals. Right now only the national players can afford to do so. If WIPL is started with 4 teams, that would mean that a minimum of 30 additional players can get themselves elevated as professionals. Just take a look at Indian IPL players like Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Lalit Yadav. How much were they getting from domestic cricket, before being picked up by the IPL franchises?
169  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: September 27, 2021, 01:50:17 PM
I agree that BCCI is very hesitant to start WIPL and they need to face hard criticism for such behavior but this statement is completely wrong and BS. They didn't even hinted anything like that even when they were giving bizarre excuses.

Their record stuck at only one statement, they like to believe that they don't have enough local talent.

LOL.. not enough local talent? That sounds even more BS for me. WBBL is having 8 teams. The women's domestic competition in India is having a total of 38 teams. It may not be possible to have 8 franchises, but why can't they start with just 4 teams? I believe there is enough talent available in India to form at least 4 teams. And I would suggest one franchise each from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai. When Indian players are participating in the WBBL and women's Hundred, what is the point in saying that there is not enough talent?
170  Economy / Economics / Re: Money and wealth as the major religions in world. on: September 27, 2021, 12:36:47 PM
We do have to accept the reality that in this life there are always people who do whatever it takes to make money. Including there are people
who raising money under the guise of religion, in the end it will only make their religion look bad. At least you and I don't do that, for me
making money under the guise of religion is an act that only makes us more sinful. Because making money in a good way will make our lives
more blessed and happy.

Religion is the best way to get rich nowadays. I personally know about a guy in India. He started his own church and claimed that he's converting hundreds of Hindus to Christianity every year. He advertised this to some evangelical denomination in Germany and now every year this guy is getting millions of €€€ in donations from Germany. The biggest joke is that most of the so called "converts" are fake and they still believe in Hinduism. Only when some guy from Germany visits the church, all these converts gather and do prayer meeting. The pastor has built a big house for himself and he has a good collection of luxury cars with him. I don't have a problem with any of this. Money is something that always flow from the less intelligent to the more intelligent individuals.
171  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Karnataka ( A state in India ) they introduced bill in assembly to ban o.gamblin on: September 27, 2021, 12:26:45 PM
actually not only Kartanaka, i think there are many countries that still ban gambling. even the punishment is great as is said for the one who transgresses it. actually it depends on the rules and traditions of the country itself whether or not gambling is allowed. fortunately in my country gambling is still accepted so there are still many people that join it and many people are helped by it.

There may be countries and territories that ban gambling. But how many of them actually punish the gamblers? If they are punishing the organizers, then I can understand that. They are profiting out of illegal business and that goes against the prevailing laws. But punishing ordinary gamblers is a bit too far. It is just authoritarian encroachment in one's personal choice. I am not sure whether someone can be punished for just participating in gambling. Maybe a monetary fine of $10 or $20 can be justified. But definitely not a prison term.
172  Economy / Economics / Re: After 1 year of Covid 19 Virus on: September 27, 2021, 08:12:14 AM
Bolsonaro is a totally destructive guy and without any kind of preparation to be president. He was only elected because the opposition was severely weakened by various corruption allegations. In this next election, we will have a candidate who can face both slates, Ciro Gomes.

Great to hear that. But I believe the presidential elections are still more than a year away. You need to deal with Bolsonaro until then. BTW, I can see that the pandemic situation in Brazil is improving. The daily deaths have gone down from 2,000-3,000 per day to low hundreds. And more than 40% of the population is fully vaccinated. So the situation should be normal in a matter of months. I haven't heard about Ciro Gomes before. And when I check the opinion polls, he is far behind Lula and Bolsonaro. He's struggling to get to double digits.
173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Satoshi Nakamoto is alive? Today he posted on p2p foundation. Your opinion? on: September 27, 2021, 07:12:35 AM
12 years have passed. There is a good chance that he's no longer alive. Even if he is alive, he has valid reasons to stay anonymous. The decision from the El Salvador government to make Bitcoin as legal tender has put it as a direct competitor to the fiat currency. Sooner or later, we can expect hostile actions from the government towards the cryptocurrency market. And if the real identity of Satoshi is known by then, there is a real chance that the governments would target him or use his past history to justify their crackdown on BTC.
174  Economy / Economics / Re: CHINA Banning bitcoin: PBOC Says All Crypto-Related Transactions Are Illegal on: September 27, 2021, 06:59:22 AM
Reality beats the crap out of any SF scenario so they've banned the US and Cuba Grin Grin Grin and Israel and Iran!
Since they haven't got a license in SK they will also have to ban both South Korea and North Korea users.

They can't accept the users from USA, else they will end up with the same fate as BTC-e/Wex.nz. The US government prohibits exchanges with relaxed KYC requirements from dealing with American users. Now coming to China, they are going to ban Chinese users based on IP. Using a VPN is also not going to work, because nowadays the exchanges are having software to identify VPN usage. The only option for the users in China is to access exchanges through TOR browser. But I don't know how Houbi will work in TOR. Else, they can travel to Hong Kong and use an IP from that location.
175  Economy / Economics / Re: China Is making Fuds Since 2017, But BTC Always Gone higher on: September 27, 2021, 06:49:09 AM
Not every newbies know about this so there's really nothing to it besides the fact that we will continuously see people panicking over what China does because they don't know any better or they haven't done their research before getting in and now their surprised that's happening right now.

No surprise there. Even this time, there was a mass selloff from the newbies. Bitcoin is an asset that always provide good returns in the long term. But the same may not be true for short term or medium term investment. A lot of new investors don't know about this and they panic whenever the prices go down by 10% or 15%. They need to understand that Bitcoin is a volatile asset and it is not rare to have such fluctuations. And this is what happens when you invest in an asset without properly studying about it.
176  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 27, 2021, 06:39:09 AM
Today we have Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals. Will be interesting to see whether SRH will be able to put up a fight. And RR will be charged up, after their magnificent last-ball victory against Punjab Kings (thanks to Kartik Tyagi). SRH just have 2 point so far, and they are in for their worst season. RR is not in a much better position, as they are placed at 6th position with 8 points. They need to win at least 4 of their remaining 5 matches to qualify for the playoff stage. Right now, four teams have 8 points each - RR, KKR, Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians.
177  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs Caleb Plant on: September 27, 2021, 06:01:09 AM
There's always upset in any sports, they will fight fist to fist and if Plant surprise Alvarez with strategy that will work against this pound per pound champ it's going to be the biggest upset, We or most of us here believe that Alvarez is far superior to Plant, though just like what you mentioned Plant also an undefeated fighter but there are big differences between this two.

Canelo is more on skills and power which really unpredictable when he's inside the ring, he will quietly attacks and take every counter from his opponent, if he cornered you it surely be going to his way either throwing more heavy punches or knock you down forcedly.

Everything, for now, is our own opinion and speculation. It will be decided after the fight.

There are always upsets occurring in professional boxing because all it takes is a single mistake or a brief instance of lapse in concentration. Buster Douglas knocked out Mike Tyson in 1990, despite odds of +4500. But do you really believe that Canelo would do something like that? For a win by Caleb Plant, there needs to be a mistake from the part of Canelo. There is no other way in which he can win. And Canelo is very careful while boxing. For the entire 36 minute duration (3 mins x 12 rounds) he stays focussed.
178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Karnataka ( A state in India ) they introduced bill in assembly to ban o.gamblin on: September 27, 2021, 05:51:52 AM
India is a Muslim country , So  expect banning from gambling right? lucky that they are allowing gambling in many areas in which against their religion so everything that comes like this is i believe normal and does not need to be unexpected.

WTF man? India do have the largest Muslim population in the world, but that doesn't make it a Muslim country. Only 15% of the population is made up of Muslims. By your criteria China is having a larger Muslim population than Saudi Arabia. So China should be a Muslim country as well? The reason why they have such regressive stance towards gambling is due to the conservative attitude prevailing in that region. The attitude towards gambling is the same irrespective of whether the majority religion is Hindu (India, Nepal), Muslim (Pakistan, Maldives) or Buddhist (Myanmar, Sri Lanka).
179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China trying its best to get hated on: September 27, 2021, 05:41:11 AM
I honestly think that people are starting to get really sick of China's behavior.

What's really amazing is that they don't understand that they are cutting themselves out from a super-growing market, letting all major investor taking all their money to other countries (like the mining exodus happened recently).

Should we really expect a bear market?

China doesn't lose much if the miners shift their operations to neighboring countries such as Kazakhstan. Because the tax revenue from this sector is really low and the high energy consumption from the mining farms has resulted in power shortages in some of the provinces. In the future the Bitcoin prices may go up by 10x or 20x, and at that point the regime may regret about the crackdown. But until then, they are not going to care. The CCP still believe that their CBDC (e-CNY) will be able to replace Bitcoin, at least within mainland China.
180  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin go high the poor will not participate on: September 27, 2021, 05:31:31 AM
I am thinking that if the bitcoin continue to go up to $100,000 and above.  it will be expensive for the poor people to invest. It will be for only rich people. It will be better for bitcoin will not go so much high so that it will be affordable to everybody to invest and have profit.

I will like to read and learn for everyone here.

What is this? Some sort of threat?

This guy doesn't even know about the basics of Bitcoin. For investing in BTC, you don't need $100,000. One Bitcoin consists of 100 million Satoshis, and as per the current exchange rates 1 Sat costs just $0.00044. Even if Bitcoin goes up to $100K, the price of 1 Satoshi will be $0.001. Are you so poor that you can't afford to spend $0.001 to purchase one Satoshi? If that is the case, then please send me a PM and I will transfer one Satoshi to your Bitcoin wallet (only catch is that you need to pay for the transaction fee).
