1161  Economy / Economics / Re: I currently cannot own a Paypal, Bank Account, CashApp, etc on: June 07, 2021, 07:21:21 AM
I feel ya kid. Same situation as you, except I'm 21 (well over legal age), but I can't open any bank accounts here.

Buy an EzzoCard. They sell non-reloadable debit cards for crypto, and they work on most payment processors, well, except for the ones that use Paypal as their credit card processor apparently, but they have a whole section on how to verify your Paypal with these cards.

I personally bought a $200 Black card and it's worked on almost everything I got my hands on. It only took 20 minutes from transaction confirmation to deliver the VCC.

[I should mention that because it's a VCC you don't even have to worry if you can't get a physical card shipped for some reason. But you won't be able to withdraw cash from ATMs using it]

Physical cards that can be reloaded with cryptocurrency are almost impossible to get nowadays, due to tightened restrictions from the FinCen. So apart from the VCCs, we don't have any other option. Obviously the biggest negative is that you can't use these cards at an ATM. Also, you can't directly use it for offline shopping (please correct me in case I am wrong). And given the increased regulation (especially with Democrats in power and people like Yellen being given top posts), I think that it is just a matter of time before they start their crackdown against the VCCs as well.
1162  Economy / Economics / Re: After 1 year of Covid 19 Virus on: June 07, 2021, 07:11:05 AM
We were all wished that this pandemic would end so that everyone could go back to what we called "normal life" but we never know when this virus would go away or simply vanished like thin air. Despite having vaccine we still can't be sure if it really stop this the virus, or if they would be another one coming hope not!..I guess we would rather accept that this a new normal way now and we would rather adjust our self to the situation while praying and hoping that we would all still be safe at the same working and living our lives.

Well.. let's look at the positives as well. Most of us are working from home and receiving the same salary that we were receiving prior to the pandemic. The expenses have gone down, and that means that the savings have now swelled. I just hope that the companies will provide flexible work schedule even after the pandemic is contained. This is going to be bad news for the informal sector, who depends on the office going people for their livelihood, but the service sector can't take care of everyone. It is already having a disproportionate share of the burden.
1163  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid virus 2021 on: June 07, 2021, 06:46:04 AM
That's because Pfizer vaccine is an mRNA vaccine that works differently with other vaccines. They instruct the cells to create a spike immune response to prevent the virus from latching on the cells. Antibodies aren't produced by vaccines, they are produced by the host and they will only be produced for a specific one if a specific virus have been introduced to the body albeit in a weak state.

There was a recent study with the AstraZeneca vaccine as well and it has been confirmed that this vaccine also shows a lower efficacy against the Delta strain. The most worrying aspect is that one dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine doesn't offer much protection against the mutant strain and this is going to create issues in countries such as India, which has relied on single dose regimen due to the shortage of vaccines. Double dose vaccination is going to take time and the mutant strain can cause a lot of damage by then.
1164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The fall from 65k to $30k was the best thing to ever happen to Bitcoin on: June 07, 2021, 06:28:45 AM
I cannot resist trolling you here, bryant... .. you made a couple of points and even though I largely agree with your sentiment, they seem worthy of discussion and/or clarification.

The logic of saying that we are closer to $0 than $100k makes sense because let's say at just shy of $36k, we could lose 100% and then we are at zero.  But if we gain 100%, we are only at $72k.. but there is some lack of appreciation for how difficult, at this point to get bitcoin to actually go to zero or even anywhere close to zero.

~~~~
Hmm.. yeah.. have to agree.. I didn't calculated it properly. You are right in saying that a 100% spike would take us to $72K, and a 100% drop would take us to $0. Although practically it is impossible for Bitcoin to drop to such low levels, I understand that theoretically it makes sense.
And regarding the "millionaire" question.. once again I can't deny your claim. But how many of the users will able to invest >$100,000 in Bitcoin? You are saying that in 2013, you considered $1 million as your minimum entry level. I made my first investment one year before that. Back in 2012 I got 15 BTC for around $150. Well.. that was my minimum entry level.  Grin
And I agree with your last point, regarding the 4-year minimum period for holding. I am holding coins from 2012 onwards, and the returns that I received in the long run validates it.
1165  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fully vaccinated individuals now spared of masks in the casinos in Vegas on: June 07, 2021, 06:17:05 AM
Doctors don't know the cure for a disease or infection, especially when the case is new to them.  Many times I have been the attendant of my sister, grandmother, and uncle being confined to the hospital.  That's why sometimes you notice doctors whispering because they don't know how to treat the patient and what medications to take.  They also do trial and error, observing how the body will react.  So they will only be effective when everything that should be tested has been done, and there is no guarantee that they will be perfectly effective.  Herewith us, there seems to be a lack of supply of vaccines, and those in the medical fields, government employees, and front liners are given priority.  While I still have time to think, we are just waiting for a go signal or announcement to the public if there is enough vaccine for all citizens.  It is also a reminder that it is still necessary to follow health protocols such as wearing facemasks in public places to prevent the spread of the virus.
That is not surprising. CoVID 19 is not a well known virus. It was first studied in 2020. So whatever treatment regimen we have now was devised during the last 1.5 years. It may work on a particular group of people, and it may not work on some other group of people. The most common drugs being used right now are Favipiravir, Remdesivir and Amphotericin B. A few months back, it was not known that these drugs are useful for the treatment of CoVID 19. Back then drugs such as Hydroxychloroquine were being used.
1167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Have you given up on airdrop? on: June 06, 2021, 02:15:00 PM
Airdrops are shit tokens they do airdrop programs to make the project/ token popular to investor's that is why most of the airdrops has a low value token and i believe that doing airdrop is not that profitable as trading or investing i am not doing airdrop I always prefer on doing signature campaign task for profit. Beause doing airdrop is really wasting of time for me.
It is not easy to qualify for signature campaigns in this forum. You need to have at least member ranking, and on top of that many of the campaigns have this additional requirement of 5 merit points received during the last 3 months.  If you are active in this forum, then it is not that difficult to get merit points. Most of the users are very generous with the merit. I usually receive 10-15 merit points every month, although most of my activity is restricted to sub-forums that have a lower possibility of receiving merit. The issue with new users is that they don't have the patience to wait for merit points.
1168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which is best Altcoin to buy now on: June 06, 2021, 02:03:04 PM
It's a bearish market right now, I hope soon there will be a big pump or dump. After that try to buy your desire coin. Also, don't forget to use a stop loss. I am watching now Matic, Ada, Crv, Link, tomochain, and NWC. I am buying for a long time so buying slowly. I hope I can buy a more cheap rate soon. Dont put all of your money at one busket. It's very risky. Try to spilite your money and make an investment.
Using stop loss with a volatile asset such as cryptocurrency may not be a very effective option. Coins (especially those outside the top-20 list) go up or down by as much as 30% in a single day. If you put a stop loss, then there is a chance that the coins will be sold off at very low prices and when the prices recover you may find yourself at a loss. The best thing is to keep a watch on the coin, and in case there is a solid reason for the dip then you need to manually sell the coins at the prevailing market rate.
1169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The fall from 65k to $30k was the best thing to ever happen to Bitcoin on: June 06, 2021, 01:51:34 PM
However, we are now closer to zero than to 100k. All this fud could cause even deeper dive in the next few weeks. That will be not so healthy for crypto
What sort of logic is that? Another 2x increase in the prices should take Bitcoin to $100,000. In order for Bitcoin to drop to $0, the price needs to be dropped by tens of thousands of times. So your logic doesn't make any sense. Anyway, if you want to invest in Bitcoin, then you need to have patience. Bitcoin will not make you a millionaire overnight. You need to hold the coins for many years, to become rich. Compared to the levels we had 12 months ago, we are still in green, and that too by a massive +300%. Let me know what are the other assets that gave this much appreciation during this period.
1170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin should be taxed on: June 06, 2021, 01:41:44 PM
Most of us don't have any issues in paying taxes on our cryptocurrency gains. But the problem is that Bitcoin is fully legal and regulated in only a handful of countries. In countries such as India, cryptocurrency still exists in the grey area and the legality and tax implications are not clear. So unless the government comes up with a mechanism to clarify the doubts on these issues, at least a section of the users will be reluctant to pay their taxes on time. Who will pay their taxes, if the authorities will use it an excuse to further harass them?
1171  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-06-04] Bitcoin falls after Elon Musk tweets breakup meme on: June 06, 2021, 01:31:54 PM
OK.. this time the exchange rates went down by only 6%. The last time, he managed to crash it by 40%. Do you see a pattern here? His influence in the cryptocurrency market is gradually evaporating. The next time he tries to troll Bitcoin, the price may go up or down by just 1-2%. There are still some people who take Elon seriously, but even those guys will learn to ignore this loser in the next few months. And trust me, Elon will live to regret his treachery. We may forgive him, but Bitcoin will never forgive his mischievous behavior. I will quote this post when Bitcoin hits a market cap of $10 trillion in the future.
1172  Economy / Economics / Re: How to protect from inflation? on: June 06, 2021, 01:21:10 PM
That's most countries that do their "reserve" for gold. Because it's a very effective way of beating inflation. But aside from gold, bitcoin, and others on the list, real estate is also a good one.
Your investment through real estate can generate your income from renting it or selling it and taking capital gains from it. Actually, there are too many ways but not as an expert, taking little steps at a time.
Gold is the best asset that offer protection from inflation as far as the global governments are concerned. Because it is having a limited supply, has been in use for many thousands of years, and is in physical form (and can be secured if you have a million strong army). The problem with Bitcoin is that it is volatile, not having a global acceptability and also since it is in digital form there is always a chance that it can be stolen by criminal elements. For the ordinary people however, many of these factors and not applicable and Bitcoin may be more appealing when compared to gold.
1173  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is the fastest asset to hit 1 trillion marketcap on: June 06, 2021, 01:13:02 PM
That is a fabulous achievement for BTC,as we can be seen from the figure, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon and Google have only stepped into the 1 trillion marketcap in recent years,just a  few years before BTC.
So can we conclude that there will be more and more newbie entrants 1 trillion marketcap soon,such as ETH?
There is no doubt that it was a fabulous achievement. But unfortunately, Bitcoin also became the fastest to lose the trillion dollar market cap level. It just shows the volatility of this asset. Despite growing to hundreds of millions of users, the volatility remains as a primary concern for Bitcoin. And regarding Ethereum, I don't think that the trillion USD market cap can be attained anytime soon. Now the gas prices are low, but for almost 6-7 months the average cost of sending tokens stood at $10-20, and it created a lot of issues for the users. Ultimately, the lack of scalability will become an issue for ETH.
1174  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid-19 effect on your country's economy!!! on: June 06, 2021, 01:01:14 PM
This pandemic really gives a huge impact with the economy, there are so many things happened because of this virus, a lot of people have lose their job and a lot of businesses have forced to be closed to avoid the spreading of this virus, thankfully we have a little improvement and most of the companies and businesses that were closed before are now open and we are now already starting to recover our economy.
It is similar to the situation we had in 2009. Many of the users will be too young to remember that period. Back then also, a lot of people lost their jobs and people like me who clung on to our jobs had no salary increment for a couple of years. Those were hard times. And these incidents reminds us of the importance of having a rainy day fund. You can create one, either with fiat currency or cryptocurrency. The next time when hard times hit you, these funds will become very useful.
1175  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Man lost £20,000 in one night after becoming addicted to online gambling! on: June 06, 2021, 12:51:17 PM
Yes that is very bad but he seems to be a rich man, with him willing to bet a very large amount in just one night at least it identifies the gambler as having wealth. Indeed, gambling in big numbers isn't always about the rich because the poor can do it, but whether someone with £20,000 is considered poor and I don't think so. Therefore, he lost because of greed and with that defeat too, it was greed that might make him realize to quit gambling addiction but indeed, some of them will realize because they are in debt.
If he was indeed rich, then this story would have never got published in the tabloids. The reason why this story went viral is because this guy is almost bankrupt now and he is blaming the casino for not preventing his losses. As we all know, it is ridiculous to blame the casino instead of himself. The casino can be blamed only if they had rigged some of the games. As of now, there is no evidence for any of this. It was the responsibility of the gambler to play in an accountable manner, and he couldn't do that.
1176  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ohio offering lottery prize worth one million for those that get the COVID shot on: June 06, 2021, 12:41:13 PM
If you read the articles related to the news released regarding the winners of the first lottery draw you will know, the governor himself calls the lucky winners to confirm it.  Tickets are drawn every Wednesday to win 1M and one scholarship per week.  Not all vaccinators are qualified so it is necessary to verify this first.  Is it too big to be disliked?  I don't think of that as a reason, maybe others just really don't want to take the risk and maybe they are still observing what happens next.  Because people also think differently about that, you just really need to think carefully because health and life are at stake here.  So when the right time comes for them and they have made a decision, they will also get vaccinated to their liking even without incentives.
The opposition to this measure is purely political in nature. The opposition (Democrats in this case) are having issues just because it is being implemented by a Republican governor. IMO, this is a very commendable move and the governor deserves praise instead of curse. Many other states (including tje ones rules by Democrat party) have now taken out similar measures to boost the vaccination rate. And one thing I want to specify here is that there is zero additional cost to the state treasury. The state of Ohio hands out scholarships on a regular basis. This time also they are doing it, but reserving some for those who get vaccinated.
1177  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fully vaccinated individuals now spared of masks in the casinos in Vegas on: June 06, 2021, 12:31:14 PM
Yes, I immediately remembered the Korean movie Deranged in 2012, a medical thriller.  After investigating the circumstances, it was discovered that the owner of the pharmacy was the only one who planned everything, they made an infection so that the medicine they would make could be sold.  Able to do evil just to get rich.  Dazzled by money to be powerful.  So neither can we blame others who do not want to believe.
That doesn't mean that you should believe all the baseless propaganda that has been floating around. One of the biggest opponents of vaccination campaign, Jair Bolsonaro (president of Brazil) claims that if you take a COVID 19 vaccine, then you will turn to an alligator. Let me know if you believe these sort of stuff. Also, in countries such as India, a lot of fake messages are being propagated in Whatsapp and other social media. Some of them claim that if you get admitted in a hospital, then your organs will be stolen.
1178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: June 06, 2021, 12:21:27 PM
A few days ago we saw the Test matches in Sri Lanka. All the pitches have helped the batsmen and the batsmen of both the teams have collected a lot of runs. The matches were complete without any excitement. If they make a bowler-friendly pitch, the match may end in 3 days, the broadcasters may be dissatisfied, but it will be exciting for the general audience. However, cricket boards will definitely look at their financial gain and please the broadcasters.
Those matches were just horrible. It was hard even to watch 10-15 minutes live on TV. The players were doing their job as if they need to complete some formality and both the sides were not aiming to win the match. On top of that, there were rain interruptions as well. But still, the TV broadcasters will prefer these matches to those which gets finished in 2-3 days. Because the advertisement slots are sold much before the start of the match. The amount will not be reimbursed if the match turns out to be a boring one. But the amount needs to be reimbursed, in case the match gets finished in two days and the ad can't be shown during the live match.
1179  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: June 06, 2021, 12:11:06 PM
The intervention from the Olympic Association will be once in 4 years but it will be an intervention on the independence of the cricket boards. Which no cricket board would want. But if the Cricket will be included in the Olympics, the boards will benefit a lot by financially. They can make a lot of money from sponsors and TV broadcasters.
In case of the BCCI, they have already received assurance from the government that even of cricket is included in the Olympics, there will be no interference from the Indian Olympic Association. I guess the situation will be same with the other boards as well. And regarding the second part of your post, larger boards such as the BCCI will hardly see any financial benefit. The Indian government is not going to allocate any extra funding for them. The benefits will be limited to the smaller boards.
1180  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: June 06, 2021, 12:01:23 PM
Although there are many hard-hitter batsmen in the West Indies's squad, the players do not perform responsibly. And there is no continuity of their performance. And we can enjoy this type of match but can’t rely on them. I don't think there is any possibility of a good result for West Indies in the next T20 World Cup.
Consistency is not that important in T20 format. You don't expect Pollard or Russell to hit a 50 in every T20 match. There are a limited number of overs to bat, and in case they fail, then someone else will perform in their place. In T20 format, a single good performance from a batsman can give victory to his team, unlike the case in ODI format. So even if someone hits a 100, and everyone else fails to get to double digits, there is a good chance that the team can win. And that is how teams such as Mumbai Indians have such a good record in the IPL.
