161  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Inherited gambling on: July 09, 2022, 03:55:48 PM
Well, i have observed this from my neighborhood, that most of them have turned into gamblers. Maybe heredity still counts as whatever the tree, so is the fruit. But having an environment that is full of gamblers may also have a big effect on the young ones. It's like their young minds have been motivated that gambling can make them rich, or the reason that they don't struggles in life. However, when they grow old and mature, they will eventually discover the real effects of gambling, and its their choice whether to do the same or just get rid of gambling.

Me as well, my neighbor turned their house into a small mahjong place wherein most of them are the players and other of my neighbors as well. I remember a time that a police came to their house but due to the influence of the owner in the compound, police turn around and left. It is prohibited to play a local gambling without a permit and license from the government, but people will still play since there will be a chance that they will get more money when they win. Environment do affects a person behavior and also what will he about to do in his life in the future, but that doesn't mean be cannot be change, gambling addiction doesn't run in the blood.
Environment do affect. But the OP is about the transfer of gambling from parents to kids - which is not possible - because not all the kids become gamblers if the parents are gamblers. However it is also one of the possibility that gamblers kids refuse to gamble incase they dislike gambling.

Gambling is an addiction and it's very rare that kids do not follow their parents and not play gambling when their parents have this habit of gambling.
If anyone wants that his/her kids not gamble, then they should quit gambling first and set an example for their kids. Otherwise, the kids will always have this excuse that since their parents were gamblers why can't they do gambling too.

Rybakina, Elena 2.27

Jabeur, Ons 1.64

Seeing these odds, Jabeur is the favorite to win this final but i am not sure whom to bet on. I am not a big fan of women's tennis and i think most people watch more of the Men matches as compared to the Women's tennis matches. I have watched almost all the matches of Nadal and Djokovic live on the TV but only watched the highlights of a few of the women's matches.

I hope you did not bet on Jabeur.  Smiley

Those who bet on Rybakina must be enjoying and very happy to bet on her. Rybakina won her first Grand Slam title. She was down in the first set but won the next two sets 6-2 6-2 to be the first player from Kazakhstan to be the Wimbledon title holder.
163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bear markets are for building on: July 09, 2022, 01:29:09 PM
I think the bear market should be for building, but it usually isn't in real life. Investors often turn their backs on Bitcoin when it falls, media write articles on how Bitcoin will never recover or how much lower it will go from there, and most adoption news happen, I think, during the bull market. So the bear market is a time when some build up their hodlings, but when new players, IMO, rarely join the game because they're not sure the game isn't over. It feels like there's less FUD during this bear market than there was during the 2018 one, but maybe it's just my personal perception of things.

There is so much fear and bad news in the bear market that even the long term holders sometimes feel frustrated and feel that they are holding which will have zero value in the future. To hold in a bear market is the real test of your nerves and not everyone is strong enough to hold the cryptocurrencies when they are on a continuous decline.
Those who have seen the 2018-19 bear market, know how painful is the bear season.
164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It’s clear that the Nigerian Government cannot stop Bitcoin on: July 09, 2022, 07:12:21 AM
And the streak will continue.  The Nigerian government won't be the first or last to fail at attempting to stop bitcoin, need to take a page out of the book from the countries that have gotten on board.  I believe the floodgates will be busted open after the next bull run as you have a quite a few countries that want to see how things play out with El Salvador before jumping on the bandwagon.

There were many governments before that tried to stop bitcoin but failed.  There will be more governments in the future who will try to stop this popularity of bitcoin and they will fail too. Sooner or later the government will have to accept this digital currency, so those governments like El Salvador will be remembered as a pioneer when bitcoin is rolled out everywhere in the world.
165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: With the hacks and Bitcoin for ransome, who's to be blamed? on: July 09, 2022, 06:17:00 AM
The blame is not related to the bitcoin, the ransome using the bitcoin as the medium for transaction.Because same ransome used the usd for the transaction,So it’s essential to blame the usd .No,because it’s just the currency of one country.Likewise we can’t blame the bitcoin for the same. The sources of the crime is ransome and terrorist activities and not bitcoin.

For ransomware attacks, we cannot blame the medium (currency) to be responsible for these attacks. I know bitcoin is a digital currency and it is easy to get money in bitcoin in a ransomware attack but this does not mean that before bitcoins, there were no ransomware attacks.
The criminals or hackers are the ones who are actually the ones who do these unethical activities and it does not matter if they use bitcoin or fiat currencies.
166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What ways does your IP address come into play for holding bitcoin? on: July 09, 2022, 05:41:10 AM
I keep hearing about how if you're not using Tor or or VPN you can be identified as a bitcoin user by your IP address. How is that a thing?

If I have bitcoin on a wallet, what about my IP could identify me? Does it matter if you use Tor to look at transactions but just didn't have all internet traffic through Tor when you activate your wallet on your phone or computer?

As long as you are holding bitcoin and crypto on a non-custodial wallet, no one will be able to track you. I don't think that IP address could be an issue as ISP are usually not monitoring which sites or applications you are accessing.
If you want that your ISP does not know if you are accessing bitcoin wallets or centralized wallets/exchanges, then you should use a VPN.
167  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Gifting Bitcoin to minor on: July 09, 2022, 03:40:14 AM
There is only 10 percent bitcoin mining left.Gift the bitcoin to poor and needy people for help,as they realy need it.

Bitcoin is money and everyone needs money. We are here discussing gifting bitcoin to minors (who may be our relatives/friends) and not about the charity in bitcoins.

I would encourage parents to give half of their pocket money to their children in bitcoins and tell them to save it for the future. The other half can be given in dollars (or any local currency) which they can spend.
168  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 09, 2022, 03:23:58 AM
So another clinic has been put up by Djokovic against Norrie. Losing the first set and then winning the next in spectacular fashion.

This is now becoming a routine for Djokovic to lose the initial set but then come back strong in the remaining sets. However, this is also a nightmare for the bookmakers as when Djokovic loses initial sets, its obvious they had to increase the odds for him. That's the best time to place a bet on Djokovic  Wink
Norrie, played well in the first set but then never looked the same in the remaining three sets. What could get wrong with him that he lost consecutive three sets after winning the first one?

169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Less Worry: Celcius paid off its $114 million Bitcoin-backed loan in 24 hours. on: July 08, 2022, 06:14:56 PM
Things like this make you wonder if this was all planned from the beginning. Maybe I’m being cynical but cause a capitulation event, crash the price, buy the bottom & laugh at all the normies.

So you think that Celcius Network did all this drama to dump the bitcoin price but this is at the cost of their own reputation. Do you think that even if they pay back the debt, people will still trust them? Will they get the same investments as before? The answer is NO.
No company will do such fake announcements to dump the bitcoin price , as bitcoin will survive but that company will never be able to survive for long term.

bump

Just roaming around to see any good news... but i think all the modertaors are hit hard by this bloodbath.. I hope get my account back before next bull run.  The race is on.
Hello mods  hilariousandco, mprep

Bloodbath and bull market in the crypto space has nothing to do with your account status. Your account has not been unban in last three months and i don't think this will change ever.
I came to know that your local board experienced a steep decline in their board as you were the most active poster there. Being active is good but to follow the forum rules are even more important.
171  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: July 08, 2022, 05:28:17 PM

Yes we have steep decline and we have a reason for that... actually our two very active members got banned NoorulHuda and second was Cosmic Beyonders. Both claim the reason for ban are not directly linked but any way you know our local boards... how they work Smiley

Just going through history of these two accounts NoorulHuda and Cosmic Beyonders, i found that only NoorulHuda was banned and Cosmic Beyonders account is still active but got the red trust.

It raises one question that if the account was so much active and had so much to discuss in the local board, how come red feedback can make him enter into a pin drop silence mode  Huh
172  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 08, 2022, 05:15:16 PM
Sri lanka vs Australia

After a very easy win against Sri Lanka in the first Test, Australia entered the field in the second Test today. Australia won the toss and elected to bat. And they are playing well enough. However, he returned to the dressing room after collecting only 5 runs. However, Labuschange was able to collect 104 runs. Australia lost 3 wickets to collect 216 runs. My guess is Australia will collect more than 400 in the first innings.
It's 233 for 3. Steve Smith is still unbeaten on 70 runs and Travis Head is unbeaten on 9. Australia will bat about 19 more overs today. If the batting disaster does not happen, Australia will collect more than 300 runs today. The Australian batsmen are batting very carefully. Apart from Labuschange, no other batsman had a strike rate of more than 50. If the Sri Lankan bowlers can't get Smith out today, Australia will undoubtedly collect more than 500 and Sri Lanka will lose by a huge margin.

Travis Head failed to play well in today's match as well as in the first match. He returned to the dressing room after collecting only 12 runs. Australia lost the fifth wicket for 252 runs. As long as Steve Smith is at the crease, there will be a possibility of a big collection for Australia. If Smith will out, I think the rest of Australia's batsmen will return to the dressing room quickly.
The pitch seems to be a bit helpful in bowling. And the spin bowlers are cooperating enough. Prabath Jayasuriya was able to take 3 wickets. It seems to me that collecting 380 runs on such a pitch is enough.
I do not think there will be any difference with the result of this test match. I am pretty confident that Australia will win this test match too. Unless the rain god's play a spoil sport. Australia will be targeting 400+ runs and they are in a very comfortable position now with 290 runs. Smith is still batting and has already reached his century.

Marnus Labuschagne  and Steven Smith centuries give a good start to the Australian team. Yes, this will be another easy win for Australia.

After showing some very good performance in the ODI matches, i thought that Srilanka will play better cricket in test matches too but this is not the case. Australia won by four wickets in the first test match and they may again win by a big margin in this 2nd and final test match.
173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Hodlers are actively buying bitcoin these days on: July 08, 2022, 03:48:18 PM
This is true, It's a common behavior of people who just got into the market. They lose trust after seeing a massive down fall on prices and eventually sell their asset on a low price that result to a loss. Whales just keep taking advantage of the market buying all those discounted bitcoins, This is why whales are just becoming richer as time goes. I'm pretty sure that those weak hands just entered crypto because of the hype of bull market in the past few months and now they are suffering because we entered bear market. They haven't experience the bear market that's why it's very new to them. I hope those who just entered the market and sold at a loss will learn their lesson on their experience.
People could only be classified in to two.

1. One who do believes into potential of Bitcoin
2. One who do easily get affected by their emotion and making out direct conclusions.

Its not something new for a human being to have those reactions because who wont really be that get stressed on the time
that the market do make out some decline? For sure we are really experiencing those stuffs.

Bitcoin seems to be in the accumulation phase now as the price is hovering between 18K-22K for the last few weeks. Those who know about the bitcoin potential, they are buying at every dip. If you are long term investor, forget about the fear which is being spread about the bitcoin price dump and keep on buying/holding bitcoin.
174  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 08, 2022, 03:14:38 PM
The game score is 2-5 and most likely Djokovic loses the first set. The odds are pretty ridiculous though:

Djokovic, Novak 1,3

Norrie, Cameron 3,65

It seems to me that Cameron is very much underestimated because of the big name of the opponent, and if you bet, it's better to bet on Cameron.

Grin Djokovic lost the first set but now the odds are even more ridiculous:

Djokovic, Novak 1,2

Norrie, Cameron 4,9

Djokovic lost the first set but bookmakers still see him favorite as he has the habit of coming from behind. However, i think everyone is under estimating Norrie here. Norrie is playing very competitive today and we could see a big upset today. I would bet a small amount on Cameron Norrie, as his odds are too tempting to take the risk.
The second set is in progress and let us see who will win the first break point.  Smiley

I am like a fan boy with that gambling on smartwatches. That's making a gambler on the road like a person from the Matrix.  Tongue

Anyway, we're really going there since smartwatches are already in the market and able to access just like other phones but it's still limited. Soon, that will be easier.

As simple as browsing through our phones but with more little screens.

Gambling on smartwatches is one thing that I will try to avoid. Even if you want to gamble on the go, why not gamble on your mobile phone which has much bigger screens as compared to the smart watches screens.

Not only it will be difficult to gamble on smartwatches, but the small size screen also makes gambling more irritating rather than fun-oriented.

177  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My Recent Experience at a Land-Based Casino on: July 07, 2022, 08:40:33 PM
I recently visited a land-based casino after a long time to gamble, have some drinks and enjoy live music with a couple of my good buddies. Not long after we settled in, we heard one of the casino workers yelling at one of the gamblers. He said, "Sir please you have to leave now. You come here every day and you keep losing. Please be considerate of your wife and your newborn babies." The backstory is that this particular man is a very popular gambler at the casino not because of his winnings but because he keeps losing. Despite his losses, he would return to the casino the next day to gamble. From the story, his wife had just been delivered with twins. I would later find out that the casino worker is his nephew.

If you were the casino manager would you fire the casino worker for interfering with your business or would you ban the gambler from visiting the casino?

How about the casino worker telling his nephew to stop playing outside gambling casino premises. There is no need to yell in the casino and make everyone attentive.
If I was a casino owner, I would have fired the casino worker for making me lose my regular client. This is a natural instinct and everyone wants to get money, no matter from where it comes. Also, that addicted gambler is playing at his own will, no one is forcing him to play when he is losing more.
178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: July 07, 2022, 08:11:30 PM
England V India

The first T20 match between India and England will be played today. I look forward to enjoying the match. Of course, the match will be competitive. However, the players who performed in the test match will not be present in this match. So we will not see Rishab Pants, Jadeja, Kohli, Root and Bairstow in this match. Even then, both teams have plenty of talented players in their squads. Since England's home match. My guess is England will be able to win.

Your guess of England winning is match seems to be wrong. India scored 198 runs which is a very good total on this pitch and England now needs around 93 runs in 6 overs which is impossible when you see that England has lost seven wickets.
Hardik Pandya scored 51 runs in 33 balls which helped India score this giant total. None of the England batsmen showed any resistance to the Indian bowlers.
179  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 07, 2022, 03:53:58 PM
Nadal struggled for the whole 5 sets (Fritz was playing good, it has to be said) and then destroyed him in the last, deciding game. It is incredible to see him and Đoković do that match after match, set after set, game after game.

He was in constant pain again, his father wanted him to forfeit but he did not want to. He's still unsure whether he'll be able to play on Friday.

All in all - looks like an open road to the trophy for Đoković.

Due to the injury to Nadal, it seems an open road to Fritz too in the quarterfinal match but it did not turn out that way. Nadal came strong in the last set. I guess both Nadal  and Dokovic has so much experience with them that if you take the match so long, they will handle the pressure well as compared to the relatively new players.
Anyways i feel we might have an historic Dokovic vs Nadal final  Smiley
180  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bank of America reported a 50% decline of active cryptocurrency users. on: July 07, 2022, 02:51:56 AM
But, not to such a number unless the LUNA deceased investors made up most of the stats. What do you think?

This is somehow unfortunate and I honestly think that this is indeed, due to FUD.

With the price of almost all cryptocurrencies crashing, most have decided to pull out their investments based on their contingency plan or their instincts. Though I believe that the price of BTC will recover at least by next year, it is still very unfortunate to see that most have decided to quit on investing cryptocurrencies. I guess, the crash really took a toll on their capital as most expected a "quick profit" in this platform.

Again, cryptocurrency investments are considered as high-risks and this bear market is a normal occurrence.

I think this is not fud but a reality. The interest is cryptocurrencies has declined a lot since the beginning of the bear market. The retailers are out of the market and we don't see much hype of crypto in social media. However, serious investors and whales are still there who are accumulating bitcoin. They number may be small in number, due to which this report says decline in 50% of active cryptocurrency users, however their investments are big.
