1061  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: May 09, 2021, 09:32:24 AM
First of all, Zimbabwe should thank Abid Ali. If not for his slow batting, the match would have got finished in two days. Now they have extended it to the third day. I don't know what happened to Brendan Taylor, but recently he looks out of form. I am saddened by this, because when he made his debut (17 years ago?) he was being talked about as the future of Zimbabwean cricket. If not for the political turbulence in Zimbabwe, he had the potential to become one of the legends in Zimbabwean cricket. Now he will end his career in the same manner as Steve Tikolo, John Davison or Gerrie Snyman.

Does not matter if the match is finished in two days or three days. What matter is that Zimbabwe will lose the match and lose the series. This will further create problem from the Zimbabwe team and board as they fail to make any considerable performance in the whole series. ICC won't be happy organizing such one sided series.
1062  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Government Controls Crypto? on: May 09, 2021, 07:56:48 AM
Government does not control anything related to crypto and infact that's the reason why they are fighting hard to bring it down. Imagine turning all the blockchain projects and crypto into the hands of government, that means we did not get any form of liberty. Government has no hand in it.

Luckily government has no control over our funds and crypto and they can't take hold of it. Consider for a moment, if government has the power to stop the block chain technology. They would have stopped the blockchain technology and would want us to be their salves and keep on using the banking fiat system.
1063  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My feelings after 11 years with crypto. on: May 09, 2021, 06:12:52 AM
Hello everyone, today i want to tell you about my crypto-depression.
So in 2010 i was working in IT company and my friend from work told me about bitcoin mining.
Next day after this information i register on this forum and start mining coins, everything going perfect but bitcoin price was really low and unstable.
I was investing everything in gpu. Couple times i lost my fund's on scam-exchange but i still had a lot of "mining power".
In 2015 i quited my job and invest my whole savings in bitcoin, in that time i had more than 15 bitcoin's and gpu worth 20k$.
And after 2 or 3 week's everything fucked up, in same time i lost my job and my wife get sicked.
In Nov 2015 i selled everything but still i had -$$$$ to pay, so you probably asking why i made this post?

Now after 6 years i have biggest depression ever, if i only burrow money from somewhere 5 years ago and didnt sell my miners...

I have feelings that i lost my biggest life chance to get really rich and i just want to forget about crypto and work in normal work but it is impossible.
It's hurt much more if you can see that your old crypto-friend's get cars and houses from crypto profit, i wonder if someone have some feeling's as me.

There is no need to repent on the past actions. You did not made a mistake by selling your miners. In 2010, no one knew the future of bitcoin and at that time it was considered as a internet money. The main thing is for you now is not to get depressed , regroup yourself and see how can you make your life better with little resources available.
1064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin is good. It’s hard to persuade parents to invest in it. on: May 08, 2021, 05:27:04 PM
Crypto is not popular in my homeland. People in my homeland love to invest stocks and bonds. And real estate is the most popular investment. Only few people invest in crypto. My dad loves to invest in stocks but he seldom has a positive net income from the stock market. It’s the fact that crypto is a better tool to earn money, especially for the Altcoin. Then., I try to persuade my dad to invest in Eth and BNB. They’re worth to invest. Take myself as a good example, I spent the weekly pocket money on my first Eth two years ago and earn more than 10X of money. It seems that Eth is still going up in the future. It’s a good investment during this economic recession period. I tried my very best to persuade my dad to buy Altcoin like Eth and BNB but he thought that crypto was very risky and unreliable at all. Investing in crypto is the best way to earn money in this economic recession. It means that my family loses the chance to become rich since my dad does not invest in crypto.
It’s hard to persuade those middle-aged people to invest in crypto. Do you think so?

Have you tried to show your dad the profits which you gained from investment of your pocket money in ethereum ?  Try to show him the price action graphs for Bitcoin, ethereum and show him that if he would have invested in them six months ago, how much profit would have been gained.  If he is still hesitant to agree with you then ask hm to invest only 10% of his wealth in crypto. I am sure sooner or later he will agree with you.
1065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is KIN (KIN) a good project ? on: May 08, 2021, 01:30:24 PM
KIN was migrated to Solnana blockchain and also recently got listed on FTX. It is rare for such a small project to get listed on FTX exchange.
Do you think KIN project has evolved and they have a good future ahead. More importantly is KIN a good investment ?
Details:
https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/kin

I was following KIN ever since it was listed on FTX (as i keep track of coins listed on FTX/ Binance ). The price of KIN went to $0.0005 in few weeks after listing on FTX but then it is dumping badly and now is available at only $0.0002$.  I still not recommend anyone to buy this unless there is some good fundamental news about this coin.
1066  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] Binance phishing site on: May 08, 2021, 01:14:58 PM
When I wanted to try to do a Binance search on google search I was very surprised because what I found a different domain binanee.app I thought this is the same as the OP found and I saw in whois their domains are registered the same so it is possible that the scamers have spread a lot of phishing in the ad google with the main search.

A piece of advice for everyone, Never search for your frequently used exchange on google. Just bookmark it and use it from there. If you always google it, chances are that one day you may end up logging into the scam site. As more and more money comes in crypto, these phishing site business will also boom. So better be careful.
1067  Economy / Gambling / Re: Be Aware Phishing Roobet.com on: May 08, 2021, 12:41:15 PM
Guys if you fall for this one, then you are simply just too lazy to type... because it only take about 2 seconds to type "roobet.com"...

Yes, a typo can happen.. but people should really double check any URL that they type to make sure mishaps like this does not happen. I happy to see that the site is red flagged for some... so you will immediately know if you made a mistake.

Also, people should know by now, not to click on any Url in emails or other platforms... because 7 out of 10 times, when you receive unsolicited emails, you are being phished.  Roll Eyes
This is a warning for everyone since the beginning of cryptomarket, there's a lot of fake site so better to double check before entering your details. If you always gamble on Roobet better to save the link already and add it to your favorite list so by this, you can be sure that you're on the right site but to make it sure, always check the link. If you receive links on your email, don't trust that link easily.

This is the first time i see a clone of gambling site which is made to scam people. Previously i only heard about the clone exchanges being made to trick people but now scammers are also focusing on gambling sites to scam people.  Sad  Another thing to note is that most gambling sites does not require 2fa and other security measures and only a password is enough to login and withdraw funds.
1068  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on SafeMoon? on: May 08, 2021, 07:19:56 AM
Oh yes, $10.00 is not big an investment and it is money worth losing. So I basically ok with your investment. I also want to check Safemoon further and I think I might try to invest on it, worth basically a Mcdonalds meal. Maybe try to earn at least 50 bucks about it. Anyway my main investments are still on Bitcoin and Ethereum so I am not going to convert those just to enter on a new coin. That would be like financial suicide if you lose your gamble. Don't also do it if you are very very skeptical.

There are people who want to become quick rich so they will invest thousand of dollars in safe moon hoping it will 10-50x their investment. This is like a gambling. Either they will be super rich or they will get REKT. The risk is too much high in this investment. Anyways if anyone is invest less than 100$, its worth taking the risk.
1069  Other / Meta / Re: itcointalk.org, btcointalk.org, bitcoitalk.org, etc. on: May 08, 2021, 05:46:15 AM
I doubt Binance themselves bought them. Someone else did so they could shove their ref links and get some money (?ref=X1H3VBDT).

Yes, you are right. I didn't realize about the ref link. I wonder if this has been going on for long and how profitable it is.

I don't think it was a clever idea to get referrals from binance. When anyone mistypes to access bitcointalk forum, his intention is not to make an account on binance but to use the forum. So why would anyone be creating accounts on redirection ?
He should have used domains like bnance, inance etc to fool the people, if he had some common sense.
1070  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: May 08, 2021, 05:22:10 AM
Odds were not great? At one point it was around @28ish, you sure your bet is on Zimbabwe or not Pakistan? Anyway it would be big upset if Zimbabwe went to win or draw the game against the Pakistan. Their bowlers should roll them over quite easily imo.

Given the unpredictability of Pakistan, it looks attractive to make a bet on Zimbabwe. But the problem is with the format. The chance of an upset occurring is very low in test matches, when compared to the shorter formats. For the last 10-15 years, Zimbabwe hasn't produced enough quality talent, to make up for the loss of their white players who have emigrated to countries such as England and Australia. Zimbabwe is just like a patient on ventilator, who is being kept alive in the form of annual funds form the ICC. When the funds from ICC cease to arrive, the cricket in Zimbabwe will die out.

I think the cricket in Zimbabwe already died out. In the last 10 years, you will only see Zimbabwe performance going worse with no hope of any change. With no funds, its hard to imagine any emerging cricketing nation to perform well. They need to rebuilt their domestic structure which look impossible for now.

1072  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is Elon Musk's goal with Dogecoin? on: May 06, 2021, 10:47:40 PM
Do you think he does it because he wants to make money? Do you think he speculates with Dogecoin?

I am wondering if he will keep tweeting about after the bull market is over.

I think Elon Musk will keep on tweeting about the doge coin until he gets a response from the crypto community. The effect of his tweets get the dogecoin price to pump but this will not continue forever if he tweets regularly as he is doing now a days. Sooner or later, people will not take his tweets seriously and we won't see people buying dogecoin on his tweets.
1073  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: taking profit can be hard sometimes. on: May 02, 2021, 11:41:32 AM
With the bull run in place, it's actually difficult making a decision and standing by it. Most times we tend to regret not waiting a little longer to get much more return on our investment. I recall selling my dogecoin during the first pump and had to buy higher when the pump persisted. I sincerely wished, I held on the to the doge I had and would have made much more from the pump.

If you have a proper money management strategy then it will not be hard to take the profits. I usually take profits in chucks and not all at once. If the coins reaches certain percentage, i take out 30$ of my investment. When it further moves up, i take out 50% of my investment and let only 20% of my investment to ride further in case the coin is giving parabolic returns.
1074  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sell in May and Go Away. What do you think? on: May 02, 2021, 10:57:39 AM
I just found this when i tried to search more info about bitcoin earlier this day,

https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/sell-in-may-and-go-away.asp

Quote
What Is "Sell in May and Go Away"?
"Sell in May and go away" is a well-known financial-world adage. It is based on the historical underperformance of some stocks in the "summery" six-month period commencing in May and ending in October, compared to the "wintery" six-month period from November to April. If an investor follows the this strategy, they would divest their equity holdings in May (or at least, the late spring) and invest again in November (or the mid-autumn).

I know that thread is talking about return of stock, not cryptocurrency, then i will show you this (bitcoin return on every month)

From this pic, we can take a conclusion if after May - Oct, bitcoin price seems more likely in "Red" instead of "Green". What do you think? Is this coincidence?

Vote the poll & give your reason.

Note : You can't edit your poll once it submitted

I don't believe in these old charts. These old pattern may not predict the correct future price actions. I think we will continue to see many more green months before we will enter in a bear market. Also this time the bear market may not be like -80% but may only be a 60% correction. We will wait and see how things unfold in coming months. Personally i have no plans to sell as yet.
1075  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tesla now accepts Bitcoin on: May 02, 2021, 10:01:09 AM
Elon Musk just announced that you can now buy a Tesla with Bitcoin. He also says that they will not convert the BTC to fiat.

It was already late when I heard the news about Elon Musk. I just read it here in the forum few days after. I believe this whale gives a great help for the publicity of Bitcoin. Of course, this can be also a good reason for the price of Bitcoin to rise. I want to keep holding my bitcoin. I am also thinking that any other big business may follow this mode of payment if Tesla earn positive result through this strategy. In that case, Bitcoin will keep on becoming more expensive than today.

This news is quite old now however i would really like to know if anyone really bought Tesla car using bitcoin ? Do we have any such data where we know how many people used bitcoin to buy tesla products ?

From the below statement, it seems that tesla registered a sale of $101 Million in the form of bitcoin. So it means that people are intersted to buy tesla with bitcoin.
Some people interpret this statement as tesla sold some bitcoins which is not true.

Quote
The company announced earlier this year that it had purchased $1.5 billion worth of bitcoin and planned to accept it as payment for vehicles. Tesla said Monday it registered a net gain of $101 million from sales of bitcoin during the quarter, helping to boost its net profits to a record high in the first quarter.
1076  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HPB (High Performance Blockchain) in 2021 on: May 02, 2021, 09:10:34 AM
This project was quiet for a long time. It was launched all the way back in 2017 and after the 2018 global crypto price crash it looked like it was lost forever, but 2021 seems to be a key turnaround point! Some very exciting things!

So how come a project which was launched in 2017 with a excellent idea did nothing in all those years and suddenly they woke up to become the leading blockchain of the industry. There are many dead projects popping up every now and then to attract people attention in this altcoin season. I would suggest people to invest in quality good projects only.
1077  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: May 02, 2021, 08:38:15 AM
I thought the same, it was looking like a draw but the SL bowlers found something in the pitch and were able to bowl Bangladesh out for 251 runs. If there is going to be a result in this match, SL will need to score as many runs as they can within 2 session which will give them 4 sessions to try and bowl Bangladesh out. I think 350+ is enough so it will be interesting to see if SL will go for the win.

These scenarios are applicable only if Sri Lanka wants to win. From the first test, it looked as if they are playing just for formality and have no interest in getting a result other than draw. If they were really aiming for a win, then they would have asked Bangladesh to follow on. And it was not like the bowlers had 150-200 overs of work. Bangladesh in the first innings was bowled out in just 83 overs, and most of these overs were bowled by spinners (Ramesh Mendis and Praveen Jayawickrama bowling 63 overs in total).

Srilanka can still win this match pretty easily. There are still five sessions left in the match and they have to take nine more wickets in these sessions. the only hope for Bangladesh is to avoid losing wickets and see where they stand by the lunch on the 5th day. If they have wickets in hand at that time, they could take on this chase against srilanka at that moment.
1078  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance and Omni network on: May 02, 2021, 08:17:32 AM
Is it possible to withdraw using Tron network? The current fees on Omni layer make it unreasonable to withdraw coins on that network.
Is there USDT BSC or only BUSD?
Binance pays users every day to use their central network, and if the problem of fees persists for a long time, they may rely on BNB,BSD.

It is possible to withdraw using TRC20 yes and IIRC, it costs 1 USDT there and 0 in KuCoin.

There is a BSC version but just like BUSD, no one really uses that outside of Binance. It's simply too centralized as you mentioned and I personally wouldn't hold them for the long term. IMO, it's just a matter of time until Binance loses its power. If not because of issues with law enforcement, or hacks... then due to the upcoming ETH changes and forks.

Well, if ever there is a law enforcement against binance or the binance is hacked etc, then not only BUSD will lose it value but at the same time the BNB coin will be just a dust. I don't understand why people have so much faith on centralized coin like bnb and they are hoping to surpass ethereum which is totally decentralized.
1079  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Attention] Hotbit shutdown all service for 7 days because of cyber attack on: May 02, 2021, 07:52:50 AM
A week is a long time Many may happen  Tongue with weak hands and ready cyber attack story or may report losing part of the money by the employees.
Such events require transparency and accuracy with the users.
it would have been better for users to see their balances within 24 hours and to freeze all withdrawals for 72 hours or more.
What will happen if bitcoin price falls? Will users funds protected?

They do not offer guaranty on price fluctuations, the best that users can do now is to hold on to Hotbit words that they are deign their best and they are going to fix everything within 7 days, so if you are the kind of storing most of your coins on exchange and you have coins on Hotbit that's 7 days of anxiety, there's really no safe exchange so only trust your knowledge and educate yourself on the best place to store your wallet.

Unfortunately that's the only thing Hotbit users can do is wait and hope Hotbit resumes after seven days. If they are lucky enough, they will get access to their accounts with full balance. The next thing they should do is to withdraw all money from this exchange and never return to such shady exchange again.

With the increase in bitcoin price, it has effected the value of the faucet in freebitco. Now the faucet is only giving 0.00000004 BTC every hour which is way too less. I wished if this value can be increased to something like 20 sats  Huh

You have to wager more to increase the bonus. Or exchange the reward points for the hourly boosts.

So does it mean that the minimum faucet amount of 4 Sat is not the standard for all of the accounts and it varies for those who wager more ?

If we keep more balance in our FreeBitco account, shall we also get a boost in the free bonus ?
