161  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Factors that might affect ATH in BTC price after halving on: April 08, 2024, 06:33:36 AM
...the upcoming event especially the USA election might prove a major factor in getting another ATH in the price of BTC after the halving,
I don't understand the logic on why the upcoming election in the US will be pivotal in giving Bitcoin another ATH. America with all her shenanigan towards Bitcoin can never be said to aid it. I don't believe it will boost BTC price. What I know is that there's going to be some alts floated to raise money for major front runners in the elections and that's as far as it goes. Those alts can blossom but I don't see that transcending to Bitcoin. It's a coin–cidence that the US election is the same year of Bitcoin halving and that makes it look like it has any impact on it. It doesn't.
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stablecoins or Fiat? on: April 07, 2024, 07:55:44 PM
A stablecoin, or a traditional Fiat currency (USD, EUR, JPY, etc)? Why did you make that choice?
The choice of either hodling a stablecoin or fiat is a simple one for me to make, owing to the inflation in my country. With USDT, I'm well covered. I intend to keep hodling it till the situation improves. Those who left money in the bank last year have a better half of their savings lost in devaluation because of the double digits inflation in the country.

Quote
Would you prefer holding either currency long-term? Or crypto is better for that?
Well, that will depend on the time of the season the market is in. It's not always rosy for cryptos. They're times when it becomes obvious not to hodl cryptos that aren't stablecoins. At such a time, it's better hodling fiat than hodling those cryptos that depreciate in value.
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A few crypto questions. on: April 07, 2024, 06:42:09 AM
So, we all say that hodling is better than trading, yeah?
Nope, I ain't one of those who believe hodling is better than trading. For me, nothing compares to trading but you've to be good at it to profit from it. Why let your coin lie there when you can afford to trade it and increase its quantity if you know how to trade? Those who scream hodling is better know they can't trade and that's why they choose to play safe by hodling. From whatever angle you look at it – as a project or as an investor, trading increases the value of a project because it subjects it to the market where forces of demand and supply play on it. Hodling doesn't have that ability. Bitcoin was able to attain its value from the 10,000 BTC exchange for two pizzas, remember that famous exchange?

Quote
And for the altcoins, after buying altcoins, what happens if no one wants to buy them from you? You know a lot of altcoins aren't all that popular so how do people even sell off their altcoins? Can you even hodl altcoins?
Whether popular or not, you can resell whatever alts you buy provided there's no rugpull on it and liquidity is still there. Again, whenever you're buying alts, especially on Dexs, don't add them using monikers/names. Get their CAs (Contract Addresses) to add them. That way you're extremely sure of what alts you're dealing with.
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MUMU the Bull, the next Shiba?? on: April 07, 2024, 05:55:02 AM
Like to be sincere if am among those who are memecoin freak i don't think i would used my money to go invest in this project, because indirectly they are saying "the investors are useless"
I had to laugh real hard when I read your submission just now 😂. I don't blame you on that. Anyone from our part of the world would also think the same thing. I did actually when I first heard about that meme a few weeks ago. However, that's not what the project team is saying. Mumu doesn't mean the "Ode" or senselessness/uselessness it portrays in our local parlance. Mumu is the sound cattle make. So, it's talking about the cattle that will bull (bull run).

Anyone investing in the project should be careful anyway and know the chain on which they're buying. There's one on Solana and the other on ETH. Both are completely different. It's not like it's the same project that is floated on different chains. Nope, they're completely different project. Here's Mumu the Bull on Solana Chain, and here's Mumu the Bull on ETH Chain. Compare their prices and you will find out the difference.
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ionet Ignition Progam Airdrop Campaign on: April 06, 2024, 04:27:55 PM
Tips:

For Tier 1: Submit Solana wallet address on #wallet submission channel
...
I like the part where wallets are asked to be submitted. It gives me the impression that project is seriously cooking something and is likely to go public soon. I just saw this thread now. Has snapshot been taken already? Is it too late to jump in? Thirdly, can it be assed on phone?
166  Other / Meta / Re: Is gambling problem or anything related to addiction is an off-topic? on: April 06, 2024, 03:40:03 PM
My guess is that gambling addiction topics have been discussed over and over again that there are no new replies. Just the same thing said in a different way.
That's my guess too. The redundancy of such a topic for discussion would've made it boring to mods who possibly have realized that such topics cause spamming on the forum. To abate spamming, moving such topics to the "Off-Topic" section easily do the magic. That won't be far from mods decision for moving OP's thread. Users in signature campaigns have less allure posting there because posts in Off-Topic don't count towards the weekly quota in signature campaigns.
167  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Goal Achievement on: April 05, 2024, 05:56:02 PM
This forum is one of the most organized places that I've ever belonged to, it's forum rules and everything we do here is very open, except for our hidden identities, as we're using aliases as username. I call this forum an institution where newbies without any crypto knowledge will come and learn without paying tuition fees, they gradually increase their knowledge, make quality impact with their posts and join other experienced members to groom new sets of newbies. It's also a forum that rewards it's members through signature campaigns, and we can make crypto decisions that'll be beneficial to our finances.
You can say that again. In all ramifications, this forum is a win-win for all; except scammers because they easily get sniffed out. For genuine users here, they can tell how greatly this forum has impacted them but it doesn't waste time disciplining erring ones breaking rules here. I cut my teeth here and in all modesty I can say my crypto journey has taken a leap better than what it would've been without coming here.

Whatever you do, steer clear of plagiarism and sundry offences of breaking forum rules and you will surely have a smooth ride here, cross fertilizing ideas with others and earning in the process.
168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you advise a friend in the same way? on: April 05, 2024, 03:53:59 PM
Or am I wrong? I need to know if this advice is a good one or a bad one, I gave him this advice because we are very close and also because I will do the same thing if I am in his shoe, this is the best thing i can think of right now.
Your advice was a good one. It shows you're looking out for your friend, genuinely. The only issue with this is that you've stuck you neck out too long that it can easily get bruised. People easily want to blame others when things go wrong with their lives. This is what will happen if your friend takes your advice and something bad happens to that decision. He will find a way to blame you for that. Hackers and scammers are the bane of this industry, besides government. I hope you told your friend about wallet security and let him know how to take care of all that. Again, endeavour to also tell him about Bitcoin circle and that it's not always rosy for Bitcoin. It has its down moment, and it's a scary one. If I were you, I would just tell him about Bitcoin investment but I won't stick out my neck that much by telling him to throw the company's funds into it. Remember how antagonistic the government is towards Bitcoin. Don't forget that government legislation can turn things 360 degrees overnight.
169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Richest Crypto And Bitcoin Billionaires In The World 2024 on: April 05, 2024, 01:56:31 PM
1. Changpeng Zhao
Net worth: $33 billion (vs. $10.5 billion) | Source of wealth: Binance"
__
4 billion in fines isn't a lot of money to him.
You think so? I don't. Wait until you interview him and hear how on the contrary he thinks. $4 billion away from that networth leaves him with $29b. That's more than 10% off his worth. It's a hell of cash, except you're equating it with what price to pay for his freedom.

In fact, I have respect for people who have sold all their real estate, sold all their possessions and invested in Bitcoin.
This is how great fortunes are created.  The amount of your wealth is directly proportional to your willingness to take risks.
Well, if one's lucky and gets successful that way one can be thought to be smart. If the reverse happens, one is called stupid. For me, I don't think it's a wise decision to sell all and invest in Bitcoin or any other project/asset. There ought to be something set aside in case it goes sour. It surely does most times, trust me. There's a reason that caveat in this industry that no one should invest what they can't afford to lose exists. That's because there's so much uncertainty in this industry.
170  Economy / Economics / Re: Lock your bank balance on: April 02, 2024, 11:22:36 PM
...provided that the freeze on the amount would not be lifted regardless of whatever reasons, even in if the person’s death.
Why would anyone agree to go into such an arrangement if not that they want to make themselves slaves to their savings. It should be the other way round. Money is supposed to be man's slave. That's the essence of saving up so one can recall one's savings when emergencies arise. Even if I would consider leaving huge amount of cash in a bank, I will never succumb to this arrangement of locking up my savings.

You make a deposit for a long period (a year or several years) during which you will not be able to withdraw money from the account, where the bonus is higher interest on the deposit. If you withdraw before the end of the deposit, all bonus interest will be lost.
They used to do that in my country a few years ago. I found that out when I cared about what banks were doing with the little cash I had with them. Then it was three months of not making withdrawal on accounts to qualify for the interest. I don't know if banks still do that now or not. This day, the crave for crypto investments has discouraged me (I guess many too) from keeping cash with banks. I'm so much enjoying it. The little I make now goes into investments.
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Next x1000 ShitCoin | Get in early | Join Us on: April 02, 2024, 09:42:40 PM
How do I get it?
OP, you stylishly left a telegram link so you can get people off here to a place that might end up exposing their safety. Even the other site address you left here is suspect to me. I'm not sure how many users who would want to click or test those random links you put out here. I'm not saying what you're advertising is a scam or not but it's going to very hard getting people to trust you on that and the links you've supplied. I'm not one to experiment with random links from untrusted sources.
172  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful where you connect your wallet on: April 02, 2024, 08:48:26 PM
what crazy person puts millions of dollars in a hot wallet and connects to a third party lol.
It's actually a crazy world. For civility sakes, let's say it's sheer carelessness that makes people do something as irrational as what happened. Otherwise, I would just put it as stupidity too. It's sad that people still get to lose their funds this way when they can easily get burner wallets to try these things out. It doesn't cost much time to create one. Just a few minutes.

Quote
Turns out there are also millionaires who are stupid. condolences to him.
Having loads of money doesn't bestow wisdom on people. Being wealthy doesn't also mean one is that smart. They could stumble on wealth through inheritance too. Does that also make them smart and rich? Of course, not.
173  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: is bit-blaze.com SCAM on: April 02, 2024, 07:29:22 PM
hi is this exchange scam bit-blaze.com
did anyone tried it
I don't know if you're a noob in cryptos outside this forum as it's suggestive of your rank here. If you're a newbie and virtually a newcomer to this industry, my advice to you would be to steer clear off unpopular sites. Stick to sites that are popular or you do your research first before committing to them. Scammers are getting wiser. Do all you can to avoid anything that's not clear to you. For me, I'm not one who likes trying new things that involve financial commitment until I know it's genuine. The site you mentioned is a new one to me. I wouldn't send funds to it if I were you. If an exchange isn't rated on popular coin sites, I don't give it a second thought.
174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Dreams of a Bitcoin Circular Economy in my Country on: April 02, 2024, 06:27:23 PM

When the incumbent government took over i was very optimistic about this and also thought it will be a thing of few months before people can openly use bitcoin or accept bitcoin as a means of payment but right now it seems those days are getting further far away due to the restrictions we are seeing on cryptocurrency.
This was contrary to what I expected from this government. If anything, the second part of your comment captures what my thought was of this administration. Already, their body language even before getting into office was obvious what their disposition would be towards anything that would give the masses financial emancipation. A government that believed the youth were unruly and daring because they demanded fair treatment and withdrawal of the menacing SARs in a demonstration to #endsars and some of them were brutally murdered at the Lekki tollgate in Lagos. Yes, it could've happened under the watch of the Buhari led-administration but those alleged to have been behind that command to shoot those innocent and armless demonstrators are chiefly in this present administration. They're key players now. So, what do you expect?

To be honest with you, I fear the worse for cryptocurrencies under this government. Maybe what we're experiencing now is just a tip of the iceberg.
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you continue to trust Trust Wallet? on: April 02, 2024, 01:57:02 PM
But in this case whatever the wallet is the most important thing is how we manage it well because in the end fraud and hackers occur because we are negligent in the security of the wallet we have so that no matter how good the wallet is but if we are negligent asset theft can still be done in the end.
This is exactly the point that should be canvassed. It shouldn't necessarily be about a particular wallet. We humans are supposed to be responsible for the safety of our wallets (and other stuff we make use of). Again, I've been using Trust Wallet as far back as first quarters of 2021 and I've had funds in the wallet from then till now without having any issue of hack or breach. 2021 till now is a whole three years and nothing has happened to that particular wallet. The mistake many people make is to expose main wallets they use and make them vulnerable by clicking on links connected to their browser. If anyone has a wallet with funds, it's advisable not to interact directly with DApps on the wallet. Just buy funds with another wallet and move it to the main wallet or simply buy using the project's CA. Don't engage in any other thing on the site so as not to click on phishing links.
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Notcoin’s Next Move: Closing the Mining Chapter on: April 02, 2024, 11:46:12 AM
I managed to make two vouchers (10 million tokens each). Now the approximate price for one voucher is about $ 30.
I guess many who exchanged their 10 million tokens for a voucher regret doing that as their expectations of a higher price on the market hasn't been met. Though those who first got the vouchers sold into several Toncoins and made a kill out of it. Now, according to what I read online, those who exchanged for vouchers will have to exchange the vouchers to $wNOT and to $NOT back via a Shardify.app. I think those who rushed in first to get vouchers will, in one way or the other, be in loss by the time they take care of the  back and forth requirements to move back through the project.
177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DO NOT BRAG ABOUT YOUR BITCOIN on: April 02, 2024, 09:12:02 AM
It is important you do not brag about success. Don’t share how much you have with others.
Nobody keeps secret forever. There's always that one person we find a way to confide in. There's always that person who shares our dreams, foresight and aspiration. However, while talking about our success we should be mindful not to reveal all. Keep your jokers to yourself.

Quote
They may tell their friends, and sooner or later someone who you don’t know, who may have the capacity for violence, may decide you are an appetizing target. This is yet another reason to use a multi-sig setup.
That's the reason we should be mindful of those we share information with. Like you said at the end of your post, don't go babbling.

Yeah I already made the mistake of telling people about bitcoin in 2015 or so. And I never told them how much I bought but the problem was when the bull market of 2017 came, everyone assumed I was some crypto king. And they wanted money.
That makes the two of us 🧐. In fact, someone recently addressed me as a crypto lord simply because he was one of those I told about Bitcoin when I newly got into this industry in my exuberance to introduce them to financial independence. It sounded weird to me because the person he addressed as a crypto lord isn't even a shrimp. I'm less of a crayfish.
178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People who mined bitcoins between 2009 to 2012 on: April 01, 2024, 11:19:28 PM
I would say that many who mined in 2009 on their laptop most likely lost it by formatting their drive, some sold it when bitcoin exchanges hit the market, and a very tiny percent of people actually held it for a few years.
It's for these reasons I feel happy I didn't know about Bitcoin then. I'm cocksure one of those would've been my lot too. I know how bad I feel whenever I remember that I bought over 200 BNB in 2017 at less than a dollar per unit but sold off before price could hit even $4. It's either I would've sold too early or the device for saving my Bitcoin would've been impracticable to retrieve it from there.

~snipped~
Satoshi holds the biggest bag of bitcoin I just wish he stays at it is cause if able to sold that surely the market will crumble.
I believe whoever that's behind the Satoshi persona won't want to push all to the market at once if they decide to make the rumoured wallet said to belong to Satoshi active. It will surely be a quiet and gradual sell off.
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sold all my shib for litecoin on: April 01, 2024, 09:35:37 PM
Is this bad or does LTC have a future? I've seen a lot about how LTC has a possible ETF in the far future. I am a long holder (5 years at least) btw.
Sentimentally, I think LTC should do well considering that it's still way below its ATH. If you allow me to make a prediction here, I think it will do up to $400+. At the moment, the price of LTC is disappointing anyway. I bought a few of it a few days to its current halving around $84 or so in expectation that price would fly like what we've known Bitcoin for. Surprisingly, price dipped after its halving even till date. If it ever has an ETF in the future, it may (just saying) not push price up like a Bitcoin ETF did. I'm still hodling to see what happens to its price this bull season but I won't be hodling that long like you.
180  Other / Meta / Re: Can a moderator be wrong? on: April 01, 2024, 09:20:57 PM
... are the moderators always correct?
Moderators are humans. Humans aren't always right/correct. However, their egos may be on the way of their admission of their wrong.

If you are quite certain that the thread belongs to gambling board, you can try moving the thread back to gambling board again.
That's an option OP should seek recourse to. There had been a few instances where such an act of moving back threads succeeded after threads were (wrongly) moved. Though  OP would've stood a better chance at it if they laced that thread with more fact findings and illustrations, exemplifying it as true gambling topic.
