oops.. ive been lazy and busy. Didnt update to latest wallet.. so yesterday it seems i went unsynched.
Downloaded the latest version, and the bootstrap.
Started the loading now. If there is any posibility to incorporate a indicatior of progress on boostrap-loading, that would be helpful. Im guessing many just assume everything has hung when its acting like it is while loading bootstrap.
Be certain to delete your peers.dat file so that you get all new peers from the seednodes. Also, remove any addnodes's you may have previously added to the ervergreencoin.conf file. You can delete the peers.dat file while it is still bootstrapping, as it has yet to read the file. Yes, like bathrobehero mentioned, watch the file size of blk0001.dat to see the progress. It can take up to 2 hours or longer depending on the system and its availability of resources. Thank you for taking the time to upgrade and resync.

A mandatory update with the lockout of previous versions, is the best you can do in a situation like this indeed. When I was active as a dev for ANTI we had the same problem and we managed to get everyone on the right chain by doing it that way. Not nice for people that have an old version of the wallet, but it's inevitable imo.
Yes, I had hoped enough would willingly upgrade to not make a mandatory upgrade and lockout needed. These and other options are being explored. Thank you for your input GizFreak. It is welcome and appreciated.

Aaaaand I have forked again...
These things doesn't just happen to all coins, far from it.
And it wasn't caused by a new wallet, it's just happened all of a sudden. Either the coin can't handle forks for some reason (checkpoints are useless in this case) or the coin is being attacked in some way. If that is the case I'm 90% sure it's because of proof of stake.
I love this coin and own a bunch of it but this is getting kind of ridiculous. I think if the dev can't fix it we might need to fund getting outside help.
Edit: I have two wallets running on two different PCs with different IPs, one for staking and one for solomining. Now both of them forked off - or at least it seems this way because none of them want to sync. Edit2: None of them forked (I hope, getblockhash 459170 - 00000000b7962f650d5a4d58921c4cf71bdcdd2484bc7b966210864910f821df) but both of them stopped syncing with plenty of connections at different block heights. Only multiple restarts started syncing them again. Edit3: If the block explorer can be trusted I am on a fork with both of my clients (they are not connected to each other).
Bathrobehero, sorry for the slow response. I had to step away from my desk for a few hours for a family obligation I could not bring myself to miss. I do believe the block explorer can be trusted and is on the correct chain as it does concur with the 2 seednodes (seed & seed2.evergreencoin.org) I have full access to. I am very eagerly awaiting crysx to come online so investigation can continue to his seednodes. He is 13 hours ahead of me and did have to sleep last night. The coin will correct from forks, in some cases. As you can see this wallet (v1.2.1) 4 days ago doing so. Note how it had an incorrect block hash for 447617, but then is corrected: More recently, here is an example of the same, but taking 5 minutes to correct, on block 457996: Both the qt wallet and daemon both appear to hang while doing this reorganization and may appear to not be syncing for several minutes. This may have been what you observed. I have been in communication with Mammix, the creator of the code from which EGC was cloned, several times recently. He did agree the code improvements would help mitigate forks and also was the one that recommended I add BIP66, which I have. Yes I agree they are coming from PoS blocks as you said. Mammix has agreed to set aside some time for me tomorrow morning. I will wait for him to wake. He is 5 hours ahead of me. I do understand yours and everyone's frustration. I will do everything necessary to get the blockchian secure from forks. EDIT: Crysx has risen from his slumber and yes, the block explorer does concur across all EGC seednodes including those on the granite network.

I forked twice since my last comment and it's clearly not just me.
getblockhash 458553 000000006b5d12bbbd16654648bfa6eb05bbab925b512aac597191920699cb21
Some oddities were observed 14 hours ago, difficulty abruptly jumping from 2 to 12 and then back down, before any forks were reported to be found. This does make me suspect the forks may have been from malicious attempts to attack the EverGreenCoin network. However they may have been caused, I apologize. This block hash you mentioned does concur with all the seednodes and the block explorer. EDIT: Perhaps the many Windows wallets running the v1.1.2 code because the upgrade to v1.2.1 had yet to be made available formed a consensus and pulled other nodes into an incorrect fork.

The EverGreenCoin v1.2.1 Windows wallet has been thoroughly tested and is now available for download: https://mega.nz/#!kkFWHLZC!EvFpstFoMK5G-ZNGlCjV4mwrxvusPNH22jBmatyjp2AUpgrading your Windows EverGreenCoin wallet to this version 1.2.1 is very strongly advised as it has many improvements that will mitigate the forking problems that the network has suffered. When doing any wallet upgrade it is advised to protect your coins by making a backup of them. To do this you simply need to backup the EverGreenCoin wallet.dat file. Your wallet.dat file can be found on Windows within %APPDATA%\EverGreenCoin\ or otherwise stated, C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME HERE\AppData\Roaming\EverGreenCoin\ On Mac OS X it can be found within /Users/YOUR USERNAME HERE/Library/Application Support/EverGreenCoin/ On Linux it can be found within ~/.evergreencoin/ or otherwise stated, /home/YOUR USERNAME HERE/.evergreencoin Simply copy the wallet.dat file to another location you feel is a safe place. For example; your desktop, a removable storage device, or elsewhere on your network. Chances that you will need this backup after the upgrade are small but, the wallet.dat file contains all your EverGreenCoins. It is the best practice to make the backup copy of your wallet.dat before starting the upgrade and is strongly advised. To perform the actual upgrade is easy. You simply need to run the new version 1.2.1 EverGreenCoin wallet instead of your prior version. If you need assistance, please feel free to post in this thread, personal message myself or another team member, or seek help in real-time in the IRC. If you do choose the latter, please ask or describe your concern or issue when you enter the room. Please be patient for a response as other people may have stepped away from their keyboards. Someone will help you as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for taking the time to upgrade to version 1.2.1 as doing so will help ensure you do not get into an incorrect fork and thus will help prevent incorrect forks from forming a consensus on the network.

Hey !
Hows going ?
I think the "solar-miner" is not perfectly named, as it basically "only" stakes your coins, so doesnt really mine them. Even tho it sounds great for marketing but people could understand that wrong.
A solar miner for that price would be insane tho, but hardly possible for small money :/
Just an idea tho, no offence meant.
Hi allinbox, Yes, you are correct. We want "average people" to understand the device. These people, however removed from the technical side of crypto, do understand "mining" as "gaining". For that reason and that staking is technically mining, processing transactions and maintaining the blockchain for which a reward is given, we felt "EGC solar miner" would be easier for non-technical people to understand. Yes, an actual solar PoW miner would be very expensive. Also it would not tolerate power outages very well and maintain the same accurate projection of the return. This way we can market it as, "earning 7%" so long as the sunlight doesn't stop for more then 30 days. That and EGC's PoW will end in about 20 days. An actual solar powered EGC PoW mining device would be soon useless. Technically speaking, it will be mining via PoS mining (aka minting) and earning at a projectable rate, 7%. No offense taken!

chain stuck... again???
ERROR: ProcessBlock() : block with too little proof-of-stake
I am aware of the situation. A fork seems evident. I am moving a bootstrap now and the seednodes appear fine. Sorry for the delay on Windows and Mac binaries, I suspect this is the root cause. evergreencoind getblockhash 457541 00000000264e1a514b53b3ad8baca8b763a32557024f974cdc0808f377184695 is github updated already? Yes, v1.2.1 has been pushed to github. Sorry for any inconvenience crackfoo.

Yes, as crysx said, we are in this together. Far to many alts attack each other and do not realize we all can benefit for teamwork. I am honored EGC's tremendous community can see and does realize this bigger picture. Thanks everyone!

Hi dev i need link for mobile wallet
Sorry to say, there is no EverGreenCoin mobile wallet at this time. We had been previously added to coinwallet.io, which gave mobile devices a wallet via their web browser, but unfortunately coinwallet.io has since closed and is no longer in operation. A mobile EverGreenCoin wallet does remain a goal. A 50k EGC bounty is offered to an experienced Android developer to help me compile a fully functional EGC wallet. Android developers are in high demand and can demand a large price for their time and expertise so, I think that bounty is not enough to entice them to assist. The quotes I received from Android developers were from 2 BTC on up, which there is not sufficient budget to pursue that option. This of course would not be a solution for IOS or other devices but would suite the majority of mobile devices. For this reason a web solution like what coinwallet.io made even more sense but a viable alternative has yet to be found. Hi Steve, Althought the bounty is something lower for the work, the project is very interesting. I'm an Android Developer but i haven't got time cause my actual job. It would be great to do an Open Source project in Github, so many people can colaborate in him with their work. Other people can colaborate with EGC or BTC donations to the workers. It's only an idea that i think is better than the bounty. What's your opinion? Greetings. P.S.: I'm spanish, excuse my english, please. Your English is perfectly understandable, no worries. Yes, this is certainly a good idea and we do want this, as is all EGC software, open sourced. I will PM you to discuss in more detail. Thanks!

Hi everyone, Crysx and the Granite's network have been an invaluable resource for EverGreenCoin. Granite(GRN) is in the voting at Cryptopia. I ask you all to please show Granite our appreciation with votes on Cryptopia. https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/VoteThanks in advance! its very much appreciated steven - the votes will also be very much appreciated ... if its ok with you - id like to offer a giveaway of granite through egc and a wallet that you control to give out to anyone interested in gaining some grn as well ... this will obviously be at you discretion - as this IS the egc thread ... id be happy to send you 25kgrn for the initial giveaway - if you are happy ( and have the time ) to take that on ... voting for granite on cryptopia would mean that if we do get in - would mean the second good exchange we will be on ( outside of bleutrade ) ... once again - very much appreciated ... #crysx Sure thing! I already have a GRN wallet because I was trying to solo mine the super block, the last GRN super block if my memory serves, several months ago. I will contact you via skype to discuss the details.
